The Priest was walking down the street. Casual glances toward other people were returned in awe-inducing stares, as his gigantic frame strode through the city of Babylos.
The city itself was modernized, different from the previous iterations of wood. Now, it was composed of steel and concrete, cars whizzing by, how they were brought here, he did not want to know.
The streets were packed with magicians and common folk alike. I mean, this was a merchants dream, and many a vendor were seen peddling a variety of 'magical' trinkets. None of them were magical, and the Priest just kept walking.
As he strode, his dual pistols were able to be seen through his jacket. He walked with his hands in his jacket pockets, and his sashes swaying behind him...
He walked past a book store...

*ding ding* The bells on the book shop door rang as a young woman strode out, her nose already immersed in a newly purchased book. Blonde tresses fell down her back, falling into her face as her head was tipped downward, pouty bottom lip between her teeth in concentration as she read.
She didn't even noticed a tall figure walking past as she collided right into him, losing her balance, book flying from her hand in the process..

The Priest and the beautifal young lady collided. As she bounded off of his immense frame, her book went soaring. He caught it, outstretching his hand, and caught her with his other. He was practically leaning over her, and as a blush came to his face, he straightened up....
Uhhh... Hello, madam...

An equally rosy hue caught the cheeks of the young woman as she glanced up at the looming man who had caught her. She brushed a few strands of her honey colored hair from her face before speaking.
"I-I'm sorry.."
Her voice was light, with a crisp accent. Straightening up and regaining her balance, she gingerly took the book from his other hand.
"I guess I should have been watching where I was going.."

The Priest rubbed his head, and posthumously smacked himself in the back of the head with her book. He rubbed it again, and handed the book back to her...
Umm... i'm The Priest, well, thats what they call me...
Whats yours?
Her beauty was mezmerising. He was almost breathless as he looked at her...

She clutched the book to her chest when it was returned to her, a small smile gracing her delicate features. The rosy tinge deepened in her cheeks at the intensity of his eyes watching her.
"Oh, um, thank you. My name is Lienn. Lienn Devereaux."
Pale hues grazed over the figure in front of her. He was quite handsome, and darkly intriguing. Tall as well, she noted, as she had to tilt her head up the slightest fraction to look in his eyes. A curious look came over Lienn's face as she comprehended how he'd introduced himself.
"'The Priest?' What of your proper name?"
She wasn't one to pry, quite the opposite actually, but there was something about him that interested her, and she felt inclined to learn more about this mysterious young man.

The Priest rubbed his head with his hand. It wasn't hurt, or itchy or anything, but he didn't know what to say. As multiple emotions splashed across his face, he finally spoke.
Well... I really don't know... I was adopted by monks when my family died.... and well, its been a rough life. They never used formal names, but when I went to towns, they always called me the Priest.....
Its a force of habit thing, I guess...
Where are you from?
The two began to walk down the street together, getting out of people's way as a line began to form around the bookstore entrance...

A small sympathetic frown appeared on the girl's face, she'd never experienced such a loss so she didn't know exactly how to respond, but it still made her sad. She weaved out of the way of a portly man in a green bowler cap before responding, the sad look replaced with a kind of a smirk.
"The question should be, 'Where am I not from.' I've lived in basically every country in Europe at one time or another.."
She paused, running back through the places in her mind, her bottom lip finding its way between her teeth again.
"..But I was born in France, so I guess you could say that's where I'm from, originally."
She was still a bit confused about the who not-having-a-name-thing, but she would inquire more about it later.

The Priest nearly bowled over a strong looking youngster. When the kid looked up, he nearly went pale, as The Priest was indeed a site.
He walked, his hands swinging slightly..
France..
Huh...
I'm from Russia, as you can tell... my slight accent is an easy give away...
But, mostly, i've lived all over Europe as well... Then, I found an interest in necromancy, and decided here would be a great place to explore it.
I've had some good practice..

Hmm, so they'd both moved around a lot, they had something in common. She smiled at this, bouncing a bit in her step as they walked along.
"Necromancy..that's interesting. I chanced upon my power by luck, not practice. You can't exactly study telekinesis unless you already have a part of it in you.."
She shrugged, continuing along and casting a few glances about the street. This was all quite new to her. Her grip lessened on her book as she relaxed a bit, the shock of their abrupt meeting beginning to wear off.
"Truth be told, my parents had no idea what to do with me when they found out..they're both unendowed. All book smart, no magic."
She was being quite open for just meeting him, but she found the words escaping her mouth before she had a chance to question herself. Perhaps she just found him easy to talk to..

The Priest listened. Honestly listening, instead of his usual shrugging off of other's words. He looked at the girl, who was beautifal in almost every aspect. Curvy, but not too much so, cute, but not overtly childish looking, and radiant, without being a beacon of light.
He spoke again:
My parents... were killed, in a horrible accident. They were killed by magic... Knights, Holy Knights... Knights Templar infact. They are still a threat now. Maybe thats why i'm absorbed in Necromancy, using the dead against the holy-est of the living.
I don't know..
He Shrugged, and then hefted the totem, placing it on his back so that it was easier to bear.

Knights Templar..that sounded familiar, but she couldn't quite place it. Maybe she'd just overheard it in a conversation, like she gathers most of her information, not including readong of course. The crestfallen look crept it way back into her delicate features as he talked about his parents.
"I'm so sorry.."
She said, knowing he'd probably heard those words countless times over the years, but she actually meant it. She may be quiet, but she contained a large sense of empathy.
"Do you remember anything about them?"

The Priest sighed,
Nothing more than a few random occurences of seeing parts of them in my mind, never their entirety, and never their faces. Only a tall roughly built man, a normal sized woman, two younger women, and my own large bulk behind them. A family picture, or something.
The totem I carry was my fathers. I used to have to carry it ona sled when i was younger, so that I could keep it with me. Now, its seemingly weightless. Its no big deal, I mean...
A single tear fell to the ground, splashing. He wiped his face with his hand, and continued looking forward, his face set into a stern grimace.

Her walking faltered as she realized that this topic of discussion upset him. She should have known better than to pry, she cursed herself inwardly. Looking down, she began to watch her feet as she continued to walk, falling back to her silent self, her thoughts all mixed up, temporarily a loss at words.
"..."
The silence permeated, and the sounds of the city seeped through, filling the void. Cars rushing past, and people in even more of a hurry compared to their casual stroll. Snipits of conversations floated through the air and exotic fragrances wafted from passing stores. She took these in, slowly raising her gaze to observe it all. After a minute, she turned back to the priest in the attempt to revive the conversation that had taken a sullen dip.
"So..what does it do?"
She asked, meaning the totem of course. It was quite large and a little intimidating from her perspective, but it must have some magical properties if he insisted on carrying it everywhere, she reasoned.

... It smashes things... It hones magical attacks, and can even share some of the burden of the spells that i use. It also absorbs enemy magic, and it has seen some use against the one known as Jyo..
He looked upward. It was always cooler in the Academy, due to its height. He never thought about such things, but today was different...
