The violet haired girl was found underneath a tree near a river, the water flowing down stream, the sound of the cool liquid hitting the Earth's surface like a symphony of crash symbols playing together. Her eyes were closed, the gust of wind blowing breezily as it brushed through her hair and across her face, whispering in her ear and whistling, the trees speaking amonst eachother when the branches and leaves brush against another. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, the clouds floating along, frogs croaking, birds singing a light melody, crickets chirping... It was all part of nature. And the best thing was, it was away from all the humans. Away from the main part of the city, where people lurked and away from worries and problems. Away from the pollution and the noise coming from the horns of the cars, screams of people, and the laughter of the sadastic people, where as near the river, people were no where to be found other then herself, and the only noise were natural ones, calming, peaceful... This enabled Minji to relax herself, and just forget about her current problems for the moment.
Her blue-violet hair flowed to the side with the wind, her deep violet eyes closed, looking as if she were sleeping. A soft, melodic, quiet sound was coming from the young girl as she hummed a song quietly, her breathing light and steady. It felt so nice not to be worrying about anything, even if it was only for a moment or two. This morning when she woke up, she decided today would be her day-off day, where she left the human society just for today to ease her of her problems. So far, so good. Sure, company would have been nice, but it depended on who, or what the company was. And thing is, that annoying voice hasn't bothered her since the day before, and until now, she still hasn't heard of it. It was relieving, relaxing, peaceful...
She gave a small sigh. This wouldn't last forever, she knew that, but for now... For now, she wanted to stay like this, under a shady tree, with the music of her own voice blending in nicely with the water rushing down the streem and the leaves of trees and bushes rubbing against another.
And for once, in her world, all was right...

"Humans... What is our fate but to fade away into darkness" A Voice said, standing in front of Minji, but with his back turned facing the river. "If this life is truly our only life, then what lies there point in our existence? We can't do anything in our lives, and everything we do anyways shall be for nothing when the cold embrace of the grave takes us in. As such, is there truly a meaning to our life? Why should we not kill ourself and get the process of life over with?"
With that, Ethan stopped, his eyes remaining eerily cold as he stared at the river, his face never shifting for a moment. Slowly bending down he placed his hand along the rushing water, enjoying the feeling of water moving so freely between the cracks of his fingers. Staring at his reflection, Ethan looked at how cold and abrasive he was, how his face seemed to never shift. Even when not trying, his face remains the same, as though magically enchanted to. He did not know why, but nor did he care. He supposed a life time of conditioning made his personality this way. After all, Ethan firmly believe in Nurture over Nature. While instincts are important, the way we are raised ultimately make us who we are. However, that is not to say our nature isn't involved in anything. Nature is what dictates as to how people are nurtured. His family's nature was to be cold and yet regal, producing Ethan here to be of that standard.
Snapping out of his thoughts he slowly removed his hand, drying it off with a bunch of strings he had on his person. The river here was very nice, as the quite remoteness of this part of the flying isle gave Ethan a calm mind. He loved this spot, and he enjoyed at how nearly no one came here. Today however, a girl was here, quite younger then him at that...But however, he merely stared at the river, formulating his ideals on life and what not.
"That what we have to live for is simply duty then" Ethan began abruptly, his tone however still the same expressionless one that perfectly matched his facial expression, "To live not for yourself, but the entire whole of things is essential. To live for yourself is pointless, for when we leave this world so will our attachments with what we lived for. But if we so live for duty, then we give the people ahead of us a better way of life, which is essentially something to be desired. To live not for yourself but for others is where all purpose lies... And to eradicate selfishness is the goal we should seek along side following body and soul into duty."
With that the nobleman turned to look at Minji, realizing he probably alerted her to his presence when he started talking. He realized that it was rude to go on so long without a formal introduction, and looked at the girl intently, his cold eyes reflecting the sunlight rather ominously.
"I am Ethan Yukimaru" The man began, slightly bowing before the girl. "It is a pleasure to meet you, and who might you be miss?"

A voice is what startled the violet haired girl, causing her to open her eyes, only to see a figure standing in front of her, speaking to himself. He spoke quite oddly, like in riddles, talking about life in a wise way. Her deep violet orbs followed him as he approached the water and dipped his hand in, and yet, he still spoke to himself. Or was he speaking to her? Living for herself? Was that what she was doing right now? Did she even have a purpose in her life? A goal, even? Other then graduating Arcane Academy, was there anything else she wanted to do? Travel the world? Help the sick? Marriage, even? No, not really. She didn't want to travel the world because was there a point? She wasn't really interested in that. Helping the sick? How can she help? If anything, she'd probably get in the way. Marriage? Tch, she wasn't even looking for a relationship.
Maybe that was her goal. To search for something to live for. To search for something to die for. But then, Minji always believed this one quote, "I will die for you, but I will not live for you." As in, no one could change her lifestyle, and no one could change who Minji was today. By force, I mean. She noticed he stopped speaking, and she looked at him, as he introduced himself as Ethan Yukimaru, giving a polite bow as well, asking for her name in his own...formal way.
Minji, not coming from a noble family, or any family, for that matter - since she grew up in an orphanage - didn't know much about the reason he bowed, other then the fact that it was a sign of repect. So she gave a little bow with her head, almost like a nod as she tilted her head to the side a bit, blinking twice before she answered, a quiet, soft like tone escaping her pale pink lips.
"Minji Étoile... Pleasure to meet you as well."
She thought for a moment, wondering how, or even why Ethan was here. Was he clearing out his thoughts as well? Or perhaps maybe this is just where he came often, and Minji didn't notice him until now? That, or he was never there when she came. But a question itched at Minji, daring her to ask, but wasn't sure if it was the right time to or not. Besides, the two just met, and already, she would start asking questions as if he were a teacher of some sort...
"What's your theory about life....?"
Curiousity tinted in her voice as her eyes also showed a bit as well. Knowledge is something she wanted to gain. Wisdom was a whole other subject.

Silently did Ethan watch the girl, his hair moving so gently in the wind as his eyes never shifted. He noticed at how she had yet to sense Ethan coming here and standing in front of her until he spoke right now. Furthermore, he noticed at how the girl also seemed to be not versed with the ways of the aristocrats of today, and slightly was a bit disappointed. After all, in his time here he had only met one nobleman and even then only abruptly. Regardless, perhaps she would prove to be intelligent and deep, so that she could keep Ethan occupied and what not. Truth be told sometimes he would enjoy the company of other intellectuals, so that they can keep him questioning about life and what not. And just like that the girl before him did just that...asking him about life.... How perfect do things fit in life?
"I believe that in life" Ethan began, his tone commanding yet detached "We exist so that we serve the society through duty. Furthermore, i believe in the idea of Personal Honor and dignity. Our lives are, on their own, meaningless and horribly short. As such, through duty we can aid others in life well beyond our death, giving our descendants what we in life worked for through duty. Also, with Duty it gives us another reason to live, to help others in life. Through our unyielding acts of Duty, we shall accumulate Honor in our name. Honor which, when we die, shall be the thing which makes people remember our existence."
With that the man stopped, his face turning to stare the girl right in the eyes, wondering at how she will take this. Children these days usually claim to have open heads about other ideas, but when confronted with alien thoughts they immediately shut it out while praising at the other's difference. In the end, children were hypocrites. However, will that make this child reject his thoughts and ideas? Only time would tell.
"So tell me Minji' Ethan began, his voice still the same expressionless self it is. "What do you think about Life?"

While he spoke, she absorbed the information, taking it in, repeating them in her mind so she wouldn't forget, sorting them, organizing them mentally, like putting a book in it's proper place in the library, or the word in the right sentence. Her eyes were closed as she listened intently, her head tilted back once again, leaning against the strong trunk, or base of the tree. Her fingers twitched slightly in the grass when the wind blew over them, and she opened her eyes to look over at Ethan, listening to him speak about his opinion on life, and what it meant to him. Her eyes showed a spark of interest the minute he began to speak, and her head tilted a bit to the left. Was acquiring information about the things she wanted to know this easily done? She definately did not expect this.
Then again, she didn't exactly expect him to ask her about her opinion. She sat in silence, thinking, pondering at herself. What did she think of life? What was her opinion about that topic? She definately thought there was a point in life, of course she did. If she didn't, Minji would most likely not be where she is today, but most likely not a part of this world. But what else did she think about life? Did she believe in the whole, "One must die in order for one to live" thing? No, she didn't, but she had her whole own opinion. One she's gotten from reading books and spending time with the librarian at the orphanage, from watching the news and from reading articles, and from people like Ethan. The wise, the knowledgable. And when she was reminded of a quote when she thought of the whole, wise and fools thing. "Fools give reasons, wise men never try", or the one that indifferences knowledge and wisdom. "Knowledge speak but wisdom listens", the infamous quote said by Jimi Hendrix. After she had finally acquired her answer, she spoke.
"I believe...that everyone has a purpose in life...and that everyone is supposed to carry out that purpose. That people have the power to find out what that purpose is...and whether or not they want to carry it out, depending on their will power... That everyone has a reason to live, whether they know the reason or not. To acquire information and to pass it down to the next generation, and then to the next, and the one after... Like how when we were born..." Another quote came into the young violet haired girls mind, "Everyone around you, smiling... To live life so that when you die, you're smiling and everyone around you is crying... Yet... I'm one of those few who don't know what my purpose is... Confusion..."
The last part was whispered, her eyes moving onto the river when she was in the middle of her speaking, as if in deep thought. The sound of the river rushing down stream was a wonderful song, and she turned her head back to Ethan, her head proping back into a straight angle and her eyes looking at him, for any sign of emotion. Of what he thought, of what his opinion about her theory was...

Ethan quietly listened to the woman's speech, absorbing it in with quiet flair as he continued to stare at the River....letting it ease out all sounds. Slowly turning his head toward the girl he notice as she walked closer to the River, continuously talking about her view on life. It was interesting, but yet Ethan had to disagree with some of it. Quickly looking back at Minji in the eye, his eyes remain cold and emotionless, as though one were to be looking into a abyss when staring at his eyes. Slowly he then bent down, letting his hand feel the rush of water which moved down this peaceful river...
"I see" He began, his tone the same as before. "The idea of purpose is what i have to argue with. With purpose, comes destiny, and with destiny comes lethargy. Humans, trapped with in the ideas of purpose and destiny, feel that they cannot do anything and thus don't try at all to control their lives, claiming that they have no power. Yet i believe through your own power and fortitude can you change that. We humans have become very powerful, and no longer are we bound by prophecies of mad men. As such, it then becomes out Duty to use the power we gained for the society we live in....."
With that, He got up, his eyes still staring forward as the wind blew by the man, brushing against the tubes in his hair. His black robes gently fluttered in the wind as he relaxed himself.... Wondering what his companion was thinking....
