"Aww man" Tech sighed, walking through the streets of Babylos, Mech hovering by his side. The day had been all but catastrophic, one failiure after another. He had hoped to find others, people like himself when he got here, but so far most had shunned him, staring at his prostetics and Mech before stepping away from him. While among non-mages he had used it to create a reputation, shutting out his need for friendship and trust, but when he had heard of this palce he had set his hopes high. It had only proved to be a mistake so far.
He was wearing his usual clothes, the brown shirt, the blue denim pants and the baseball-cap, all in an attempt to his his prosthetics and all failing. He drew the shade of the cap down a little further, futilily trying to hide the mechanic attachment to his head. "It's a fuck up, it's all a fuck up" He sat himself down on a bench, sinking deeper into the gloom. Mech sighed inwardly, as his voice apparatus had no appropriate sound. It had really been a bad day, but it hadn't affect him, as he couldn't care less what others thought. But Tech was a human, and the humans were social creatures. "I'm sorry Tech" Mech thought, turning slightly from side to side, shaking his head. "This is one project that I can't help you with"

Celeste needed a break. A day to get out of the academy and to be just herself. To get out of the dorm room that she had been hiding in and out into the sunlight. Large sunglasses his a somewhat still bruised and heeling face. She wore long sleeves and a sweater over her bruised body as well while she walked through the streets her pink hair fluttering in the wind. It had been a long and hard couple of weeks but at least she could dress herself once again after the beating. One of her eyes sometimes still swelled and she had to heal a blood vessel in it just the other day that had burst from the intense amount of damage done to the area.
It was now beginning to heal properly but still looked like someone beat her up pretty bad. Especially if she took off her sunglasses to show her beautiful ice blue eyes. She walked through the city wondering what she wanted to do. She didn't want to call attention to herself but she definatly wanted to do something besides sit in her dorm room all day. Passing by a bench she looked down hearing some 'nice' language coming from that direction. She raised her bruised eyebrow and turned on her heal sitting down next to him.
"Is something wrong?" she asked softly. It was obvious just by looking at her despite her best efforts to try to hide the damage that it was still there. Around the rim of her sunglasses you could see the remanents of the black and blue bruises that the dark lenses hid.

"Is something wrong?" Tech felt his heart skip a beat, he had been too unattentive to notice that someone had taken place next to him. "Uhm, yeah, I'm fine" It sounded all but convincing, even a deaf person could have told that he was lying. He turned his head to the side to get a better look at the person who had spoken, the eerie red glow of the camera that had replaced his eye following his motion. A soft "Wow" escaped him unintentionally, his mind not caring about the briuses. He shook it off, and turned back to her. "I just had a bad day or" He counted the amount of days that had passed since he left New York, substracted the journey and came up with "5 days" within 0,3 seconds. "I guess I just gotta get used to people staring at me" He mumbled, running one of his artificial hands down the metallic replcement that covered a good part of the left part of his head.
Mech, the all but cozy looking mechanically enhanced flying skull, decided to join the conversation, wanting to help Tech. "He's suffering over the effects of futile social encounters, the rejection of his own kin." Mech had absolutely no social skills, acting on nothing else than a code of politeness that he had brought with him. He had very little, if any, idea of what ´appropriate´ and ´inappropriate´ had to do with social interaction. "Shut up, Mech" Tech mumbled, already accepting that his chances for a friend here had been ruined. Clinging onto what little hope he had left, he put out his right hand, the black metal shining in the sunlight. "I'm Tech and that's Mech. I'm new here, which should be rather obvious" Mech was getting worried. Tech had grown more depressed recently, and Mech didn't like the pitures that had begun popping into his head

"Wow." was whispered and a pink blush crossed her soft features as he said that. She looked down for a moment before reaquainting her gaze with him once more.
He said that he really didn't have anything wrong but that was a lie. She knew it was. She might be naive at times but she was pretty good with reading emotions. She leaned back against the bench and smiled as the little floating skull told her how it was. She liked mechanical things and just to make him feel better she opened her purse and held out her hand. Azure a small mechanical beetle the size of her palm came flying out to land on her hand his blue body glowing with mana.
Tech stuck out his hand and introduced himself. Switching Azure to her shoulder where he liked to hang out she shook it not even flinching or showing disgust but merely a smile.
"Nice to meet you both, Tech and Mech. I'm Celeste." she told them with a bright smile hidden because you couldn't see her eyes. But that was for a very good reason.
"And just because you're new doesn't mean people will reject you here. Why you just have to give us all a try. There are so many different creatures here. Different mixutres. Take myself. I'm an experiment, created by a governmental agency called Nephilim. My genes are not completely human." she explained. "You should give people a chance, they just might surprise you.'

He was happy that she accepted his hand, most hadn't so far. I really gotta get warming system installed in that, He thought, looking at his hand, knowing that it was at least a little cold. "Maybe you're right" He responded, trying not to be distracted by the sunglasses. "You just get used to people staring, but it still hurts." Mech was watching the mechanical beetle with apparent interest, which was hard to see as he had no face, but he was tilting to the side in that fashion he only did when he was curios.
He brightened up a little when she said that she was a government experiment, it made them a little more alike. "I'm also an unwilling subjet of experimentation," He said, trying not to remember why, but only how. "I had a bad trip, a very bad one, and when I came back these were here" He lifted one of his arms, letting it gleam in the sunlight. He didn't want to remember the mindless agony that had ravaged through his body and soul.
He looked back at her, his analytical camera self activating now that he was on his way out of the deppression. Deppressions drained his system of energy, and during those periods only the vital machinery was kept running. "What happened to you?" He asked, slightly surprised. He had seen the bruises, but his analysis revealed damage on a far wider level

She smiled when he said that he was going to give people a chance. Especially here when there were so many of the people and students that weren't normal. And here being not normal was not a bad thing in fact it seemed that the weirder you were sometimes that was more friends you got because you called out to their nature of curiosity and not only that but then they got to know you and were friends.
She noticed when he looked like he was interesting in Azure and she took his hand and put the little beetle in it. Azure's little antenae went around feeling out his hand it usually tickled on a normal person but she wasn't sure if it would on him.
"His name is Azure. A really good friend gave him to me. He kinda helps me out sometimes but not a lot. He's more just to keep me company." she said with a soft smile.
He asked her what had happened to her after explaining about the experiments done on himself. She felt bad to just wake up one day and be completely different. At least she had grown up this way.
"Well about growing up? Well I was born and created in a lab in America. There they mixed Avian and Human dna and created the Angels. That's what they call us my brother and I. When the dna met and mutated together something happened that sparked magic. So as I grew not only do I have wings that come and go at my own will but I hae magic. I escaped a while ago and used magic to hunt because it was my only way to survive the academy got wind of my usage and found me taking me in. So here I am." she said.
She completely did not realize that he was asking about her bruises at all. Sometimes she was rather naive.

Tech looked at the mechanical beetle in his hand, smiling as he saw the way the antannae went around his hand, as if it were a normal beetle. When he heard her respond to a different question than the one he had asked, he let it be. Either she didn't want to talk about it, or she simply hadn't understood what he meant. It didn't really matter.
"Well, I was also born in America, New York, to be precise, but I was born and raised human." He held the beetle up so Mech could see it, as he had seemed impatient to get a look at it. "I took a bad drug that, when combined with alcohol, turned corrosive." A tear left his biological eye, the mechanical one no longer eable to do such a thing. He forced of the memories of the rest that had happened that night with a snarling sigh, fighting the pain. "It ate away what you can see here, plus" He rolled up his sleeves, revealing the prosthetics to stop a few inches before his elbows. "And about the same from my legs. The SoG, maybe the same people who made you," He said this, greatly doubting it.
The SoG where very much independent, or at lest the faction that created him. He knew that the various factions had a set of ideals and morals very different drom each other. "The SoG ´replaced´ my losses and tried to improve me. I ran off the first chance I got, but..." The memory of what had dawned to him struck back, and another tear trickled down his cheek, his face unmoving as the tear ran unto his lips and was absorbed, like so many other before it

She listened but the tears.. well they never reached the bottom of his face. Never reached his mouth as after she saw the first one she took out a hankercheif from her purse and wiped the tears away. She smiled softly at him. She knew what it was like being an experiment. She knew what it was like to be so different from everyone else.
"You know, I don't think you're strange or weird. In fact, I think the mechanical parts add flare. And Im not just saying that to be nice either. Everyone here it seems has something special about them that sets them apart from the others. Be it magic style, race, wings, or mech. You are not alone, in a lonely world. You are among friends here." she said with a soft smile.
Azure flew back to her and she fed the little beetle some mana before she placed it in her purse again. The little beetle was her constant companion these days. It was what when she was having a really bad day she confided in even if he couldn't speak.
"Tell you what, I was just going to go get some coffee and maybe a muffin or something. Care to join me? My treat. You do eat right? I'm not trying to be rude by if you don't then we can go to a movie or something. Kinda hang out a bit?" she asked with a smile on her face so opposite the bruises that still covered so much of it.

He closed his eyes, the biological and the mechanical eyelids sliding down and covering each of his image recievers as he felt the soft touch of her hand through the napkin. It was the closest contact he had had to anyone since... the incident. He had once been a very handsome young man, but now all he felt when he looked in the mirror was an urge to smash it. When he opened his eyes again he found that beetle had flown back to her, his nerveless hand unable to tell the difference. He would need to do something about that.
"I guess, I just haven't found any yet" He let his gaze sweep over her again. "Except you" It was nice to be accepted, social interaction hadn't been his thing since the accident. A big part of his brain had taken damage, but most had been replaced. Nobody had bothered to restore his ego though.
Mech was getting all excited, hovering around the two restlesly, wating for them to finish whatever rituals the species had. He had only been with Tech for slightly more than three months and in that time he had learnt nothing of interaction between humans, with teh exceptions of buisness deals. He viewed humans, all mortals in fact, as animals, very intelligent and gifted ones, but animals none the less. Had he ´lived´ at the same time as Sigmund Freud, he would have been his greatest supporter.
"Yeah, I still got my gut" Tech answered, smiling slightly. "And food powers me like any other human. You don't have to pay though" He stood up slowly smiling at her. "You know a good place then?"

She laughed softly at his terminology and stood up with him. She smoothed out her sweater for a moment as she closed her purse and nodded. He was a nice boy. Regardless that he had all these implants or not it mattered little to her. She didn't care if he was full cyborg so long as she could get along with him.
"Sure do, it's two blocks straight and take a left. I was heading there when I saw you. Might do a bit of shopping afterwards. Need to get a few things off my chest, and sometimes buying things helps. Guess that's silly, but I'm not a violent person so.. I have to do something when I have nothing to beat up." she chuckled with a shrug.
She reached back and tucked her pink hair behind her ears. It fell down to past her small butt as she took his hand gently. This way she could lead him. It wasn't that they were on a date and should a certain person see them she would be beaten again she was sure of it. But for now she wanted to have coffee with her new friend. She didn't have enough of those anymore.
"So there has to be all kinds of different benefits to having artificial limbs. Lets see.." she said as they began walking. "They don't sweat, you can't get muscle cramps, they're never cold unless you touch them, not as easily broken, unique, annnnd they're cool. Like that movie.. 'Terminator' you've got the whole 'I'll be back' thing going for you." she smiled brightly as she looked over at him.
"See so not so bad." she said as she squeezed his hand she didn't know if he would feel it or not but it mattered little.

He laughed and nodded at her ´Terminator´ comment. It was nothing he hadn't heard before, but she was the first not to use it negatively. Almost every positive thing she said about his prosthics was weighed down by the drawbacks, but he didn't object as it was nice to have someone try and cheer him up. He couldn't feel her squeeze his hand but he felt her try nad that made him smile.
Mech was hovering after them, curios to finally experience some social interaction, other than threats and violence, and he was curios beyond measure to see how the system worked.
Tesh was already feeling better than he had in months, the fear of rejection lightened substantionally. He smiled at teh sun as he drew the shade of his baseball cap around so it covered the back of his neck, revealing his face. The day had already grown better

She watched with a smile as he took his hand and twisted it around so that the sunlight could hit his face. She smiled softly as they turned around a corner that led to the coffee shop. He seemed like a nice guy. Really nice to her and she was probably the first person to think so seeing the way he was acting.
"So what kind of food do you like? I mean.. say someone were to cook you dinner or take you out to one. What kinds of things do you like?" she asked looking up at him.
She opened the door to the small quaint coffee shop and pulled him in with her. The coffee shop was indoor. The cool air felt nice. Small plants were here and there. She led him to a table by the window and letting go of his hand she sat down and handed him a small menu.

Note to self, Mech thought, barely managing to enter the door before it swung shut on him. When humans have engaged contact with a member of the opposite sex and they feel mutual attraction, if only mild on one side of the border, they forget everything around them, including me!
She led him through the streets of Babylos, turning a corner and entering a door. He was so lost in this, his refound joy that he almost forgot to hold the door open for Mech, halfheartedly pushing against the door with his metallic palm. They sat down at a table by one of the windows, but all he saw was her.
"Is that an offer?" He replied to her question, the sunglasses dissapearing to his inner eye, seeing through them and into the beauty that lay beneath her eyes. She handed him a small menu, and his eyes quickly skipped over it until they found what they sought. "What would you like?" he would tell Mech to go tell a waitress their orders, it saved time

Celeste smiled softly as they sat down together at the table. She took off her sunglasses because she couldn't see the menu with them on. She just hoped he didn't run away when he saw her blackened left eye. It was able to open and close now her crytalline ice blue colored eyes scanned the menu. Her hand tried to pull some of her hair in front of her face to hide some of the bruise. She was terribly sefl conscious about it.
She looked over the menu and sat her sunglasses to the side folded up so when she needed them again they were close. He asked her if she was offering and she smiled.
"Sure, I would cook for you." she said looking up at him forgetting her face for a moment. "I'm not bad at it, I really enjoy it."
He then asked her if she knew what she wanted and she let her eyes fall back to the menu. Her bruise was black covering her eye socket and some of her cheek including the bit to the side of her eye. It hurt a lot when someone touched it.
"I think I'll have hot chocolate and a blueberry muffin." she said looking back up at him blushing and closing the menu laying it on the table she folded her hands over it.

His heart skipped a beat when she said that she would cook for him. Sure, it was probably just a polite gesture, but he needed those as well now, more than ever. "I eat pretty much anything, so you can whip up whatever you want. I'll help you if you like." He was smiling now, happy that she would eat with him. After she had told him what she wanted Tech told Mech their orders. "Two cups of hot chocolate, one blueberry muffin and one chocolate one." Mech tilted forwardsa nd back again, nodding before he flew off to find a waitres. Tech was not only a chocolate addict, he needed it to keep even a resemblance of balance in his neural network. He short cicuit had damaged the brain harshly anout six months ago, and a lot of his data, including preservance protocols for the body, had been erased
Tech tried to get a good look at Celeste's eyes when she took off the sunglasses, but she quickly hid the eye behind her beautiful pink hair. "You don't have to hide that from me," He muttered, "I won't laugh or anything" He reached out his hand for her cheek, wanting to lend her comfort for whatever troubled her about the bruise. He didn't care and he hoped she would belive him when he told her
