Jyo stood in the same training area he had once fought Talbot on. He needed some training with a new weapon. He had recently upgraded from a shortsword to a longsword. He now had a much more flexible weapon in the sense of taking on new challenges.
It still was in the same place as the showrtsword when it had been at the small of his back resting sideways. He used a draw strike and as soon as the blade was free he knew his style of using the unsheathing attack and going back to being sheathed was not going to work with this new weapon.
Oh well I'll have to use my primary style more often. I find that much more invigorating. He thought as he shifted the grip on his weapon from the draw grip the have the blade held in a reinforced fencing grip and started going into a beatufully deadly form set to practice with the new sword.

Nina had grown tired of sitting still and began to wander the school, her long red hair pulled up to the top of her head, and a tight black shirt, matching the tight, yet stretchy black jeans she wore as well. Well this is going to be tiresome... Then her eye caught the Training Grounds, smiling, her mind traveled to the weapons attached to her shins.
Stepping out into the open she saw some one, a boy, anger slipped into her. So much for my alone time... She thought as she watched him practice, letting her eyes drift around the grounds.
"Thats a nice weapon you have." She said, smiling at him, though a certain coldness remained in her clear green eyes.

Jyo looked over at the voice of a girl over to his side. He stopped and lowered his weapon and studied the girl's appearance. "Well thank you. It's new to me so I was getting the feel for it before I took it against anyone." He said in a friendly tone. He noticed they both had green eyes but they were obviuosly different shades.
The young man gave a bow. "My name's Jyo Mashima. Who are you?' he asked.

Bending down to pull up her pant leg, she looked at him, pulling a few small curvy shuriken from an attatchment on her shin. "The name is Nina." She smiled deep green eyes glinting a hint of playfulness but still cold. "I could never use something so big. I prefur more...compact weaponry, small and versitile." She grinned, and choose a tree, and with a flick of her wrist the small object flew through the air to lodge itself in the bark, sending some of it into the air in the form of splinters.
((gaaahhh...soooooo....incredibly......short.....*dies* i'm sorry....))

Jyo smiled. "Yes I used a shirtsword for a long time. But have gotten used to this. I think this is probably the most versitile weapon there is if used correctly. Granted I have seen the effectivness of the weapons you have." He said casually sheathing his sword.
"You show skill in throwing those weapons. I wonder if you are as good in melee combat as you are in ranged." He said keeping his left hand on the handle of his weapon. Jyo saw a potentail challenge in Nin already and was curious if she would accept an invitation to a small duel with or without magic.

Nina turned her head to the side. "Is that a hint of a challenge I hear?" She rolled her pant legs to just above her knees. Pulling out a small dagger, she cracked her neck, and pulled her hair up into a bun using another elastic to hold it in place.
"Did your parents ever tell you not to play with fire?" She said curiousity in her smooth voice, and a smile dancing on her lips, as she tried to talk him into making a move. It was her way to avoid nasty first starts, as she didn't really know how he would react to an attack.

Jyo smiled. "A little bit of both." He said and then flames erupted from his right hand and stayed there in an orb. His control over this element was an impressive one for his age. He drew his weapon and adopted a very reinforced fencing stance and flames jumped from his hand to his blade and the entire weapon was sheathed in fire. Jyo showed no sign of being effected by this.
"As for playing with fire. My parents encouraged it and I have alot of fun doing so." he said with a playful look on his face.

Nina smiled. "My parents never had the chance to tell me..." She let a ring of flame surround her. "...not to..." Holding in a defencive position she smiled, though she was far from happy. Panic took her on the inside, while her mask of amusment kept her safe. She had never been against some one who had the same element as her, could he take power of her fire? Could she take his? She stayed as focused as she could, the heat from the close flames didn't seem to bother her, she was actually glad to have the fire there.

Jyo's grin went away as his face was taken over by a hard edged seriousness. He wasn't going to go full out or going to aim to seriously harm Nina. But he wasn't going to go easy or play around here.
He moved at her never crossing his feet. It looked as though he was sliding across the ground instead of taking steps. His right hand went down as his palm faced the ground. Nina's circle of fire was broken by what seemed to be an invisible wall. Jyo had used his solid magic to disperse the flames to get past them.
Jyo slashed from his left to his right diagonally down wards aiming to put a slash on Nina's arm. The fire on the blade would cauterize the injury so no blood would come out. He kept his blade at the ready to be pulled back for a block or parry as needed if Nina countered

Nina dropped herself to her left hand cursing under her breath, her eyes hardened their gaze as she felt a pain on her arm, looking down she saw no blood. She swiped at his ankle as she pushed herself up and jumped back. I need an upper hand... She thought looking around, there was an open path to the sky she could always...No. She said to herself. Not yet... She tossed a few shuriken at him, trying to keep him occupied.

Jyo jumped over the attack. He held out his right hand as the weapons came in. He deflected one with a magic shield but the second scraped his shoulder. It didn't truly hurt but it also didn't tickle.
Jyo charged a bolt of lightning in his right hand and directed it at Nina. he was going to use his stunning speel to stop her long enough to get into melee range. It might hurt her a bit but there would be no actual damage. Just a short period where she could not move as Jyo came in. he would have to be ready for a ocunter move once he got there though.
"Keep in mind I am a true combat mage. I use both skills of magic and comabt." he said as he came in.

Nina felt her mucles stop. No....no...no... Was all that ran through her head, as she screamed out of frustration, speed was all she had against the next attack. Her glare hardened, as she watched the sword coming closer. No...no...no...no.......Yes. She thought and let out another scream this one out of rage, and a small pillar of fire, only half a foot in diameter, came quickly through the sky, just infront of where Jyo would be. She wasn't aiming to kill him, but she couldn't move, and he had a weapon to use. She stumbled a little as her muscles came back to life in her, breathing hard she was tired. "Keep in mind I don't like to lose." She said, an edge of anger mixed with fear in her shakey voice.

Jyo leapt to the side avoiding the flame. He heard her comment and nodded as he flung his blade at her shoulder with a propeller-like motion. he used the wind magic he knew to levatate and guide it ofr the strike. Once it had passed Nina he would use the same speel to guide it back to him. "I'll let you know that I'm not fond of it either." He said. Nina would have to all but fight for her life in this as Jyo wasn't going to hold back on anyone.

She raised the temperature of her fire as she set up another ring, and tossed a few shuriken at him. She stayed low, but ready to jump out of the way, and called down another pillar, this one hollow in the middle, she didn't want to kill him, but he was pushing her. She was getting tired too, this wasn't helping, she clutched her dagger. "DON'T PUSH ME!" She screamed at him, she felt herself boiling inside, but she kept tense, and didn't let anything out. Lu, you are so not leaving me alone tonight... She thought as she let the images of the little cat consume her mind, to keep her somewhat calm.

Jyo felt the small weapons slice him shallowly as he rushed at nina. His sowrd came back into his hand and he saw the fire coming in at him. His right hand went to intercept it as he created a shield of his magic to block the attack. He had gotten much better at controlling his mana and being able to constantly use it.
He decided to use the shield he made to slam into Nina. Since the wall of magic force was invisible it was unlikely she could do much this turn. Though Jyo noticed every move had been a close call. he wondered how the fight would have gone so far had they been at the same level.
