Joseph smiled that he'd finally gotten a pleasent enough reaction. Though inwardly the gunmage was having an idea. This was exactly why he came here to the Academy. To learn about other magics and apply their teachings to new gunmage techniques. Midnight scratched his chin as he thought on this.
"Tell me, do you think it would be possible to immobilize a person with gravety magic...possibly even a whole field of people?" he asked as images of gunmages with such a paralyzing power enetered his mind's eye.

"It requires all the focus one has inorder to keep control over the spell. It's best used in groups of people for you become vulnerable completely." She knew this from the first mission she had been on- she blinked as if suddenly catching the thought going through his head. Talbot shot him a warning glance, "Gunmages with that skill tend not to live long. Ego's run too high and before they realize it-," she nodded, "it's too late."

Joseph frowned. He almst felt tempted to say, 'and you know this from experience?' but he held the question in. He knew it would have no good outcome if he voiced it. So he simply nodded with a smile, "Well I suppose for now I can take your word for it. Still, I am here to develope new techniques, so I may come asking for a tutoring session later."

She shrugged, "If you are willing to spend many hours with your nose in a book and doing countless drills until you achieve it- sure why not?" Talbot looked out at the training field, where she had been training had been reshaped from rounded and stoney to flat and smooth- the combination of her movements and the gravity rings having made it smooth as marble. She shook her head and looked at the sky, "But I won't put up with you taking stupid risks- even if I'm not teaching you." She looked at him from the corner of her eye, "Stupid mistakes are made by the careless and disrespectful," she closed her eyes, "And I would have to crush you with what you were learning to make you respectful."

Joseph smiled and looked up in the sky. Once again he held back words that he would have liked to say, but like the last ones they would not have helped his cause. He thought a moment as the silence lingered. He remembered some things that Ziare had told him about Talbot which gave him an idea.
"Talbot," he began not botherign to turn his head, "You said you didn't cook for anyone willy nilly, right? Well I was thinking, what if I went and found you some rare spice? If I did that would you consider maybe cooking a dinner for the two of us?" Once his question was asked he finally looked at her, his glasses twinkling in the sunlight above his smile.

Again he focused on the cooking, she wondered why he was trying so hard but then again she didn't mind- normally she was the one who had to work to gain friendships, why not see what it was like to have someone try and win her over? Talbot looked at him, the thought of a new spice- a new ingredient- a rare opportunity to make a great meal with a single change to the tempertment and the preparation of a meal. It took a deal of will power not to stare him down and demand the where-a-bouts, if he truely knew an ingredient she had not worked with before. The list of unused was smaller now- but there were still a few spices- a few ingredients she had not been able to hunt down. "I think you just want me to cook for you," she looked at him sideways, a grin on her lips.

The gunmage shruged, returning her grin. "What can I say? I'm just a sucker for beautiful women who can cook. Especially when they're good at it, like I hear you are. What do you say? I bring you a rare spice among rare spices, and you cook dinner for the two of us?" he asked once more with great pleasure. YES! Finally he was getting somewhere. If she said yes he will have made a great gain towards her affection. The only problem then would be tracking down such a legendary spice. Still, that was just another challenge he was willing to take. She was so beautiful...

Talbot did not understand why he kept pushing so much. It was- somewhat carming, she supposed, but a knot was forming in the pit of her stomach and she was unsure of if she would endure the constant playful compliments much longer before she would have gave him a taste of her newly aquired magic. But then again- it wasn't so bad. And neither was his offer to hunt down rare spices in exchange for a simple meal. "Sure. Why not?"

Joseph smiled and gave her a nod. "Alright then, it's a deal then." He said shaking her hand then standing up. "I'll head off to get you a spice like no other, and when I return with it we'll have dinner. I'll pick the place if you don't mind. Now if you'll excuse me my lady" the gunmage gave her a mock bow, "...I had best get started. See you soon, Talbot." With that said Joseph headed back towards the dorms. He had some consulting to do. Sure it was a nice boast, but now he actually had to find the spice. He needed to talk to Ziare. "Don't forget to get some sleep after all that training." he waved to her before he passed behind a stone wall.
