Raiden stood still in a simple standing postition. No stance, no readying of his katana. Raiden simply didn't know what to do at first. That's when suddenly Raiden got a sudden chill go down his spine. A big star was glowing on the ground beneath Raiden with him in the middle of it. Raiden tried to escape this one, but couldn't simply because his feet was bound to the floor. Now, anyone else being stuck in such a situtation would panic, but not Raiden. Keeping a cool head in the mist of a battle came easy to Raiden even though he doesn't like engaging in battles often.
Without wasting another second Raiden swifting performed a substitution spell replacing Raiden with a fake Raiden. Raiden then was free to escape the star without being noticed. Raiden watched somewhere in the shadows as the fake him took all the punishment. First some other seal formed around the fake him making some kind of barrier. Just to make sure it seemed real the fake him was able to try and struggle out of the hold. Suddenly the stranger flung a flask of holy water at the fake Raiden. The fake Raiden howled and shrieked in pain as his skin began to boil.
Suddenly the fake Raiden went silent...followed up by a POOF!! A cloud a of steam formed bursted out. As if cleared away it revealed to be the corspe of a demon slain by the strange. Raiden had substituted that corspe for himself taking all the damage for Raiden.

"Mathias!" the sword said to him, "It isnt him"
"I felt it" He stopped right before he used his second aeroscribe on the seal of michael and saved himself the bottle of holywater he would have spent. "There were two presences the moment his adrenaline spiked... the moment he knew he was in danger"
The first seal took up about 1/4 of the floor space in the small room and it wouldnt vanish seeing as it was carved into the stone floor. If any of the two so much as jumped over it, they would be sucked to the floor.
"it's hard to tell where he is exactly from all these shades interfering" he said to himself mostly, but the blade could still hear him through the tendrils peircing his hand. His glance quickly went to the altar... Those runes were nordic, designed to take the effect of the fluids in it and bring their respective powers to full, radiating them throughout the room. Seeing as how blood was to be spilled to the alter, mathias didnt like this situation even more.
He walked calmly to the alter, his back facing the seal so that Raiden couldnt sneak attack, and poured the entire bottle of water into the alter. The alter erupted with holy light, this would cause anything unholy in the room to 'purify'. This included mathias and his vampiric side (vampires are half unholy, making him a little over a quarter unholy. Most humans are hardly unholy at all, even the president of AOL [surprising, aint it?] ). This light casted no shadow, it filled the entire room and almost touched the shades on the ceiling, and god knows raiden couldnt hide amongst them. Demons though they may be, they're predators and will attack anything that isnt a shade if it gets close enough. One wouldnt be a hassle, but in large groups, they're lethal to even legendary warriors, and raiden would be no exception. Mathias would be keeled over in pain and would be blinded and temporarily immobilized by the blast of holy light (basically meaning it was like a flashbang to him).

Raiden watched as the stranger then suddenly ended his attack and went directly over to the alter. Raiden suspected something else was coming, but didn't know what so for the time being just watched from behind a large pillar. Thats when suddenly a blinding holy light sprout out across the room. Raiden immediately hid behind the pillar and shielded his eyes from the light bright lights.
Raiden could tell these lights was unusual, but not life threatning. It seemed the guy may have poured his holy water on something. Raiden felt okay though simply because it was the full concrete form of the holy water which is more effective against Raiden's body. Raiden decided to see just how did that stranger fair. Raiden peered around the edge of the pillar just enough the see a shady outline of Mathais hunched over in front of the alter. It was obvious that he was paying for what he did.
Raiden had no intention of going out there and worsening his own postition. Raiden just sat right there and waited for the light to end. Although the demons in the rafters couldn't wait. Raiden wasn't worried though. Raiden knew demons and usually demons will attack the odd man out, in that case a vampire was the odd man out. If Raiden was like the rest of them he would've joined the masses to form an attack, but Raiden isn't like that. He rather sit and watch as these lesser demons do their worst.

The shades didnt come... and Mathias noticed that his feet were burning. He immediatly jumped up and loged his sword into the wall. Pearching on it he noticed, of all things... a pillar?
Where did it come from? Mathias noticed it soon burst into a thousand shades that raced towards the ceiling. Several simply melted into the floor, their black essence running towards the center.
"Whats going on?"
The floor was glowing white. The holy water set a holy sheen on the floor. The one safe strip that raiden was standing on was closing in as the water began to seep in and fill it.
"The flesh i need" an ominus growl said. Now the arena was perfectly clear save the alter and the iron ropes . Mathias just stood there on his sword, waiting for raiden to make his move. If he didnt latch on to the wall somehow, the only other option would be a leap to the alter... an unlikely leap (but still possible).
But what drew the shades down... they were protecting raiden, but they dont protect. Something commanded them. He wanted their flesh, their essence. And he wanted raiden strong when his blood was spilled.

Raiden soon noticed that the holy water was spilling out across the floor. What didn't make much sense was how could one bottle try and encompass the whole floor. Raiden wouldn't know and he wouldn't care. Something like that was going to bother Raiden. As the area around Raiden began to close, he jumped amd latched on to the side of a wall digging his claws into it. Raiden then easily started climbing up the wall evading the holy water on the ground.
Raiden climbing to the higher section of the wall and looked around the room. Raiden then immediatly leaped off the side of the wall into rafters amongst the other demons. This was just about the only place that was dark, which was the number one reason demons like Raiden hid up there. Millions of red, yellow, and many different colored eyes stared down at the spectical below. Raiden was just wondering what was going to happen next?

Mathias saw raiden climb the rope (no pillar, so i'll assume you meant rope) into the rafters. The demons didnt attack him... the blood! it couldnt be purified before it hit the alter! No worries, mathias just waited for raiden to come down. When the waters effect wore off, the demons would attack, and mathias would be waiting. He used a second aeroscribe on the walls. Anything that went past this barrier would be rendered frozen, suspended, and magically sealed. There was no way to cross the line without being caught up in it, and when raiden was forced out of the rafters, he'd fall right past this line.
