It was a beautiful site. The Monastery was a large walled in complex which lay surrounded by a carpet of trees which sprang forth from the foot of a mountain. To the rear of the school a large lake lay twinkling in the sunlight. Three robbed figures ascended up the last of the foothills which seperated them from the forest. It had been a very long journy and thanks to magical protectiosn they were denied the luxury of flying to the school. As such they'd been forced to trek across the mountain from where the chopper did land.
The leading figure which stood in the center threw back his hood so he could get a better look. Joseph Midnight gave an appreciative smile. "Utterly beautiful. Hard trips really make you appreciate your destination more, eh guys." the gunmage said looking over his shoulders at his companions. One was rather large and carrying an oddly wrapped object on his back. Joseph asked him to come since he was the source of the idea, plus since he said he'd gone through Asia before. He probably knew some native tongues. The other's robes carresed her body more only reminding Joseph of his purpose. They were here to find clues towards where they could get a legendary cooking spice. Oh yes, he would get Talbot a present to remember.

Ziare smiled at Joseph's phrase. Truthfully it had been a long treck but it was well worth it. To help her friend, well two friends really maybe get together she was more than happy to help. Talbot had become like a sister away from home for her and she treated her as such. Even going on a treck for a special spice.
"It is most beautiful." she said. She was wearing normal clothes not her summoner robes as this was voluntary and she's rather be comfortable in jeans and a long sleeve shirt her hair braided down her sides.
"So where is this spice?" she asked her group. She had only met Priest today and still really didn't know a thing about him. Seemed he wasn't much of a talker.

((Sorry! Taking forever, I know))
The big man wasn't so much as robed, as he had drawn his sashes in and held his jacket close to him. The totem he carried on his back wasn't heavy to him, not by a longshot, but it got tiring after long treks.
He just grumbled at the gunmage's comment about beauty.
When asked about the spice, he just shrugged, and said:
I have no idea. I'm guessing these guys here would know though.

(Ok how about we follow this posting order so we don't get confused.)
"Well Ziare, we don't know where it is yet. That's why we're here. Spice is something that the staff at the Monastery should know about. In particulare something legendary or at least extremely rare. Heh, I swear I'm going to really surprise Talbot. Maybe we'll even find something she's never heard of before." he said with a distinct amount of determination in his voice. Taking a moment to remove his robe and pack it away in the sack on his back, Joseph then turned towards the school, his gunmage's suit now uncovered.
"Now...how to get in?" he muttered as he drew his revolver. Pointing the weapon in the direction of the complex he cast Extended Sight, allowing him to stare down his gun's sight and see far away. The entrance was a huge set of barracaded stone doors which didn't exactly look like they'd be easy to knock on. How did the students get back into the school when they were don training out here? They did train out here didn't they?
Joseph ran his sight around the perimeter of the Monastery looking for life. Maybe if they found someone, they might be able to get them to lead them inside. As his vision crossed the lake in the rear he found a couple of swordsman leaping about in a flashy display of battle...on the water. He lowered his weapon. "Heh, that's odd. There's a couple of guys fighting on the lake. As in litterally on the lake."

Ziare followed his gaze to where he was looking and indeed two men where fighting on the lake which was very odd.
"Do you think they are students?" she asked.
She had never seen something like that before. On the water...what the heck.

The man turned around, an d sighed. *These guys are in for a treat...*
He motioned, and the group started walking.
Listen. Have manners. These guys are what we call. Fanatics.

Fanatics? Joseph wondered what Priest meant by that. No way that could be the name of their magical discipline, but if it wasn't...did that mean they were some type of extremists. As the three proceeded through the forest they suddenly became aware of the dwarging size of the trees. They hadn't looked this big from the foothill. Looking up at the canopy the gunmage was filled with a bit of awe. The walls of the Monastery had stretched high above the tree tops. That means those doors he had seen must be titanic. "Huh, I though that trees this big only grew in Colorado...That's weird. Are these transplanted Redwoods?"

Ziare looked around at the trees in awe. She had never in her life seen trees so big. It was amazing and inspiring.
"I assume they could very well be." she said still in awe. "Everything here is so big."
She looked around her it was huge even The Priest seemed dwarfed by the size of things here.
"So if the doors are that big we really have no way to get in through those. Maybe there is a servant intrance or delivery. These people have to eat." she offered.

The Priest just grumbled again, not caring what they were.
As the group finally broke through the clearing into the lake, the two swordmen turned toward them. They kept their swords out, and lept. They landed gracefully on the beach near them.
Hello. We are from the Arcane University. We need to find some spices. We thought you might know. Care to share?

Joseph looked over at Priest then back at the two swordsman. They were dress in well wrapped, yet baggy clothing, and both wore a headband with an Asian symbol on the front. "Yeah, the Arcane Academy back west. We're actually looking for someone who know's cooking spices well. Don't suppose you two know anyone inside who might be able to help us?" he asked with a nod back towards the complex.

Ziare walked forward and smiled at both boys but said nothing. She decided to play the quiet type though anyone who knew her would know it for an act in a second. But if she said nothing she could wait to see what kind of cues these guys gave off before she decided what character to play if she needed one.
She stood back and acted shy. Hopeing the other two would catch her drift and let her play until she was needed.

The two men looked at each of the people individually. They decided their speed could take the big guy easiest.
Wrong.
As they produced their weapons, which the group would later find out were called Katana's, they poised them horizontally, for a over-under stab. As they both charged, the Man's eyes glazed over black.
He whipped around the Totem, its strap coming undone at the same instant. Using only one hand, he flipped it down, making the men dive to either side. As he did this, he slapped one side with his hand, it made it move with it. It crashed into one of the men, sending his body sprawling to the right, landing past Midnight.
As the Second man watched his comrade, He charged at the Priest again. Without a single exhertion of effort, the bronze totem swung back the other way, and lifted the man off the ground. He fell hard, into a crumpling wet smack, and didn't move again. The other man began to stir...

As soon as the men began to move, Joseph's revolver found it's way into his hand and out of its holster. However the gunmage didn't shoot right away since his friend was well...owning the attackers. He was pretty sure the one was never going to get up again. The other behind him was getting to his feet. Feeling the muscles tightening in his body as he channeled energy into his bullet, he spun and shot the man through the eye just before his katana could split Midnight in half. There was a silent moment before the gunmage let out a sigh. "Hope they weren't students...really hope. So how do we get in now?"

"Again I suggest service entrance." Ziare said she hadn't attacked either of the guys since her two companions made short work of them and her abilities might have accidently hit one of them had they gotten in the line of fire.
"There has to be some kind of way besides the main gates were supplies are given to the monastery and things are taken out. It only makes sense. Maybe near a kitchen or a basement entrance." she offered.

A kitchen...
A good place to look for spices. Midnight, lead the way. Your the one with the pistol.
The group turned about, and started their way BACK to the temple, only after The Priest picks up one of those fancy Katana's...
