Palermo, Sicily, Italy, 9:47 AM
Palermo. A city like many other Italian cities. Rich in history and having that elegant beauty that attracted both magical and nonmagical tourists. It was a city of life and elegance that had a more relaxed feel then the formality of Rome. The city was a costal city on the Mediterranean Sea. It's beaches popular all year round thanks to the mild climate that was always to be found in this beautiful place. It was here that Kheldar and Phae had went. The question for others though was it a Friendly Outing or Date? A friendly outing was somewhere local typically. A date is where you traveled far for somewhere special. To Kheldar. This was special.
Either way.......I've got the perks.
He had a beautiful girl to explore the city with. He was in a place he'd been wanting to see.
And another perk? I can afford a few souveneirs on top of all this.
Kheldar had his hands in his pockets as he walked beside the beautiful redhead. By beautiful he meant downright sex-appeal. Raw sex-appeal.
The kind you only read about.
"So hit one of those bookstore cafes first and then explore or what?"

Ahhh Italy. But not just Italy. Oh no, Kheldar had gone beyond Italy and made it Scicily. Yes, it had been a place she had only read about and now she was here seeing the sites for herself and she was full of excitement.
Phae had never been here but truth to tell she had always dreamed of coming to Italy and had fully intended to before Junpei had left and the whole fiasco that entailed that ensued. And now they had gone to Germany which was where she was from but Italy.. ooo Italy.
Looking up at the blonde that was with her she smiled. He had not had any friends this morning and Phae was more than happy to be the first. And that's how they had ended up in Italy. To get something to drink and site see.
"Ooo" she said happily and touched her chest like she'd been shot. "Hit me right where it counts Khel. Bookstore.. evil evil man."
She laughed whole heartedly and tucked her red hair behind her pale once pierced ears.
"Definatly the right choice there, Khel." yep he was a friend and by golly he deserved his nickname.

Khel?! What the hell?! Whatever...for her......she can get away with it......because her cleavage heaved when she laughed...
"Eheh never had a nickname before but, I think I'll only let you use it."
He heard her laugh and almost gave a smile it was nice to here her sweet and beautiful laugh. It was a definante and whole-hearted laugh of happiness. Not the disgusting chuckles of lechers or government officials.
"I have a weakness for books. Italian and Latin books are always so elegantly written if you ask me."
Especially the adult books....
So detailed....
He stopped at a flower vender and rapidly spoke Italian with the man asking for directions and paid for a single red rose. He held it for a moment and turned to face Phae he handed it to her.
"Not the elegant red of your hair but, I figure it might work as a small compliment."
He gave a flicker of a smile as he walked with her down the street having the directions he needed.

Phae looked up at him and smiled once more so they shared a love for books. She had assumed as much when he was absorbed in the book he had been reading earlier. She looked around the city.
They stopped briefly at a flower vendors and Phae stepped up not knowing Italian she let him do the talking as she let her fingers run over the velvet petals of the tulips that were on display.
She pulled back when he was done speaking and was greeted with a rose. She blushed and took it from him. She had never gotten a flower before. She twirled it in her fingers and inhaled the intoxicating scent.
"Thank you very much." she said with a bright smile.
Was he interested in her? Did he like her? She bit her lip for a moment and thought about what she would do if that was the case. For one she was engaged and Junpei did love her and she him. Secondly she had been down this road before and the worst week of her life had ensued. She would have to see what happened.
"So.. onto the bookstore." she said running her fingers over the petals of the rose and her eyes roaming the streets of Scicily.

"It's I who should be thanking you for being a friend."
Kheldar replied as he heard her question.
And letting me get a close-up of your cleavage...
"Yup the bookstore. I was asking for directions and bought a rose as payment for his kindness. The rose then went to you as a thank you."
Kheldar said calmly as he walked with her paying attention to the signs and spotted what he wanted. Opening the door for Phae he walked in after her to a cozy cafe. The Vactician Cafe was a wonderful and almost elegant place. Paintings of the legendary Vactician City were hung to ornament the walls. The furniture was elegant but, more of that homely elegant the kind that makes you feel relaxed. All of it was done in rosewood and in the back there were plenty of shelves that held a variety of books. The carpeting was a soft and lush blue. There were several customers but, the owner Loreno came forward. He was a man in his mid-fifies with gray-temples to go with his rich brown hair and weathered face.
"Welcome to the Vactician Cafe."
He said in accented English knowing that the people in front of him were no doubt tourists since they didn't look Italian. English was widely acceptable in business places.
"I am Loreno the proprieter of this establishment. I greet you both."
He shook Kheldar's hand and then took Phae's hand and kissed the back of it in charming manner.
"To have a young couple here in my establishment warms my heart."
He said happily as he led Phae and Khelder to a table. He set down a menu and Kheldar spoke.
"Posso leggere l'italiano bene la ringrazia molto per la sua gentilezza e per il saluto. Lei corre quest'istituzione con cura e calore l'amo." ["I can read Italian very well thank you for your kindness and greeting. You run this establishment with care and warmth I like it."]
Kheldar said calmly his accent now rolling with the Italian langauge. The proprietor smiled and indicated the menu before he went back to a chessboard where an elderly customer was waiting. Kheldar turned to face Phae.
"Books first or drink?"

Couple!? Holy cow. She looked down at the engagement ring on her left hand and then back up at the man. He must have surmised that Khel was the one that had given it to her. She didn't see the need to correct the man as they were only here to drink coffee and get a few books.
They were seated and never had she been in a cafe that was so beautiful. By the window she could see out into the streets the reflection of the people and activity outside reflected in the sapphire depths of her eyes. She looked down at the menu..Italian.. lovely.
"Would you mind ordering for me. I'm afraid unless it's German, French or English I'm lost." she said with a smile as she let her fingers run over the velvet petals of the rose over and over again. "And lets drink first."

Kheldar noticed the ring that Phae had glanced at but, didn't know what it was for. He had never heard of engagements or marraige. And given his choice in reading, never really read it either. He saw her grimace at the menu and chuckled when she asked.
"Fortunatly I do. Yet, I don't think you're complaining at the scenery."
Kheldar said with a chuckle.
Your smile and laugh certainly say otherwise.
He scanned the menu for a moment and signaled a waiter over.
"Quattro pagnottine inglesi, tostate e ha imburrato leggermente. Due tè di rosmarino caldi. Anche due bicchieri di acqua di ghiaccio col limone ed il cedro affettano." ["Four english muffins, toasted and lightly buttered. Two hot rosemary teas. Also two glasses of ice water with lemon and lime slices."]
The waiter nodded writing down the order and went to place it before Kheldar turned back to her.
"I'm not sure if you had breakfast or not so I ordered some english muffins with the tea and icewater."
He leaned back in his seat.
"The hustle and bustle of people in their own little worlds. I envy them."
He stated as he gazed outside.

Phae turned her eyes back to Khel as he spoke and she smiled at him. She liked him even his cynical views. Only because they were different. She had such a wide range of friends at the academy. From quiet and shy Xeryth, to the speechless Jonathan, and even Junpei who was way more than a friend but still fell within the category. He was her best friend. Her fiance'.
"You are correct, Khel. I do enjoy the scenery it's beautiful here. Thank you for bringing me." she said with a smile as her eyes flitted back to the window.
It was beautiful. Germany was graceful and had a class of it's own. So much history there. But here the culture was what was rich here. Everywhere it was so full of life. As if the past, present, and future could all be seen at once. Old, current, and new generations mixed and mingled down the busy streets. She turned again as he commented on the scenery.
"You have a world too you know. Babylos and the academy they are our world now. And there we have our own culture. The magical one." she said with a smile as she looked at him her eyes sparkling as they always did when she was happy.
"So where are you from?" she asked curiously.

Klank.
The sound of a tray being dropped off and Kheldar thanked the waiter for bringing their food and drinks. He picked up an English muffin and took a bite of it as he considered how to answer her question. She asked what he considered a question even he really didn't have an answer for. He didn't loose any sleep over it but, how exactly do you answer a question you don't have the answers for? He tapped his fingers for a moment and turned his gaze to her.
Trust huh. Feh.
"I don't know exactly. I don't even know my last name. My parents trained me to be a killer from an early age my parents imbuing me with magic through a necromatic ritual. Forbidden one. Regardless the government who knows what nation found us and took us well took me and gave my parents more research funds. They were training me to be a super soldier of sorts. I'm not sure what. My IQ was incredibly high..."
He paused and sipped his rosemary tea not even a single shiver from telling this terrible tale.
"An attack by the academy freed me and killed who knows what. The book of Archanamach the book's knowledge used to imbue me was taken as well as me and the armor they were designing me. I have since considered Babylos my home but, I was kept under close study for awhile."
He finished the story and sipped his tea again. Still calm. Not a jostle in the way he held his drink.

Phae picked up her tea and began to sip it gently watching the boy across from her as he began to speak about his past. She didn't look the least bit surprised. Truthfully, she had heard quite a few tragic stories in her time at the academy and many had failed to surprise her anymore.
She picked up a muffin and tore it gently with her fingers to eat it instead of taking a bite. She didn't like to eat things like that. Even apples were cut up neatly.
"You know, I have a friend named Xeryth that has a past a bit similiar. Not exactly of course but still close. You may get along with him. He's like a little brother to me. And is ..kinda sorta dating my sister." she said with a smile and a cocked brow. "It's a weird situtation don't ask"
She chuckled and took another sip of her tea as she looked out the window once more. She picked more at her muffin eating it slowly. It really was good. She smiled over at Khel again and took another sip of her tea.
"So what do you do besides read, Khel?" she asked looking up at him.

"Perhaps I'll greet him when I have a chance."
Considering it came from your sweet lips.
His eyebrow shot up at the question and he paused for a moment as he considered it.
"No questions on the whole dating thing. A topic that is better left unsaid."
I bet her sister is just as cute and still developing...
He considered her second question and actually opened his messenger bag that was at his side. He unrolled it revealing a complex mechanical design. It was a machine. Bi-pedal.
"I design Magitech Armors for myself."
He said calmly.
"Now you should answer your two previous questions as fair trade."

"Naturally." she smiled and took another bite of her muffin.
She thought about him for a moment. His past well.. that really didn't concern her. So many people had bad pasts at arcane it tended to make the school more of a haven for the students that attended. She liked it there and it was a sort of haven as that's where her fiance' and she had met and now lived.
"Let's see. I grew up in Berlin. A small suburb inside the city. When I was old enough my father placed a blade in mine and my sister's hands. We trained together for years. In fact, til the day I left for the academy I trained daily and I still do. Anyway, that's how my magic woke was when I was training and the sword errupted into flames. I'm a sword mage. I can change the properties and elements of my blade by extending my mana throughout it." she shrugged and took a sip of her tea.
"So my sister was a bit jealous that I had this .. power. She was talented at the rapier but had no magical talent. And so before I left she ran away to Italy to study her craft at a very talented school here. Well, I was in the hospital for a while and she came but she didn't only come because I was ill but because during her stay in Italy she had woken as well. She's telekenetic but the academy says shes psychic but hasn't fully woken yet. So she's here now with me." Phae smiled and took another bite of her muffin as she let her eyes roam out the window for a moment before looking at him again.
"As for hobbies, I work out very hard every day. I read a lot spend time with my friends and my fiance'. I like to go places.. like Scicily." she said with a happy smile as she looked at him again. He was nice. But she had the feeling he didn't open up to many people. "And so there you go."

"Interesting your ability, I work my energy through my armors as well but, they're specifically designed with me in mind. It's because my magical talent is extremely limited and the Magitech Armor expands my options greatly."
He listened to her speak of the Academy highly and then heard the word fiance'.
What the frell is fiance'? Sounds like some wierd word for servent...
He didn't ask Phae nor did he feel like looking it up anytime soon it wasn't important really.
"So both of you have magical talent. Interesting. One took longer then the other but, the results are interesting nevertheless."
Kheldar said calmly as he finished the muffin slice he was on and started into another one chewing thoughtfully for a moment as he gathered his thoughts for a moment. He heard that 'so there you go' ending and he nodded as he thought over the information for a moment. He filed it away in his neat and organized mind as he gazed outside for a moment silent a bit.
"Well I can say your life is far more interesting then mine."
Kheldar said as he shrugged and sipped his tea letting the relaxing armoa wafte through his nostrils.
"Far more....'accomplished' it feels."

Phae chuckled and finished off her muffin before wiping the crumbs off her fingers onto the now discarded napkin that had been holding her muffin. She smiled.
"Well, I don't think I'd go for accomplished. Besides don't sell yourself short. Just because you don't consider yourself accomplished now doesn't mean it won't be later. I mean think about it we're teenagers. There's so much more of life to live that to think yourself unaccomplished at such a young age is .. silly. For lack of a better word." she said watched him as she tilted her head to the side for a minute.
"Besides, look at yourself now. Here you are at the academy furthering your knowledge of magic and meeting friends and so forth. Who knows you could be the worlds greatest Magetech Mage. People could know your name by a description alone. Or people to know you just by seeing you on the side of the street for all the things you have done with your magic. Life is not over yet, Khel. There is so much more yet to live!" she said truthfully.

I wonder what she'd look like if the shirt was wet.....
"Knight."
Kheldar corrected absently.
"Magitech Knight. My magics are too limited to be described as a Mage."
Kheldar murmured as he leaned back in his chair and thought about a few things as she spoke.
Sounds bothersome. I'd rather watch the clouds.
He listened to her words and drummed his fingers against the table for a few seconds. Each of her words rang with a conviction and truth. A conviction that was to be envied, for lack of a better word or emotion at the moment. He didn't let his expression change but, it was obvious that he was thinking about what she said during those moments where he was drumming his fingers against the desk. This was bothersome indeed. Very bothersome. Kheldar continued drumming his fingers against the table as he finished the english muffin slice and finished off his tea.
"I'll consider your words Phae. However, as far as my magic increasing...it doesn't."
He turned his gaze to her.
"My magic was gained through a ritual that involved my parents blatantly killing someone I knew their life force the sacrafice to bind some hellspawn magic into me. It will never increase without something of epic proportions to influence it. And even then only the ritual of the Archanamach properly done is perhaps the only way to ensure the increase of my magical strength."
And that is the difference between people and me. They have dreams. I have realism.
