She smiled at him and took the last sip of her tea before setting the cup back down carefully.
"Knight.. you are correct I'm sorry." she said with a smile. She tucked her long red lockes behind her ears and looked up at Khel again.
"But still you may not grow stronger but you can always grow more proficient at what you do. So I remain with .. don't give up hope." she said with another smile.
"So what kind of books do you like to read?" she asked as she let her blue eyes look up into his own eyes. She was enjoying herself. Definatly, having fun.

"Hope is an idealism for people that look forward to the future. I merely live day by day."
Kheldar remarked as he sipped his ice water again must of the english muffin slices were gone by this point as he heard her second question.
.......whatever....
"Adult books. I find the content and the humor amusing. Though I do settle down to topics that I can relate to my line of work and magic."
She did ask.
"What about you?"
Kheldar asked in mild curiousity.
If I wrote a book she'd be the main character...

She was a bit shocked. Most men wouldn't come out and confess they read adult fiction. She didn't even know if Jun read them. She knew about his dark magic books the picture he had shown her on her first day with him still came into her mind by just calling up the mere memory of it. When she had nightmares it came into those as well. She would never escape from that picture.
Phae looked up taking a sip of her ice water now finished with her own tea and smiled at him. She tucked a few lockes of her read hair behind her ears and nodded.
"Mostly fantasy I would say. Vampires.. and modern faerie tales. Things like that. I really enjoy those. Also when they take a old tale.. from one culture or another and create the whole world and the story. It seems so magical in of itself. I just love to lose myself in the books. I can just.. get lost." she said with a chuckle as she let her head rest in her hand gently as she looked at her new friend.
"So, how did you learn your magic?" she asked curiously. She was constantly curious about magic she loved it. It was a passion that she couldn't get enough of.

Vampires? What the blazing hell are those? That just sounds very interesting to say the least. Maybe I'll get me one of those vampire books. I heard the adult section on them was quite expansive and interesting to say the least. Then again...maybe I'll try a few books outside of the usual that I ready. Phae seems quite interested in her books and she speaks them with excitement...
Yeah...
Then again...
The humor would probably suck...
Royally...
Kheldar heard her question on his magic and very deliberately sipped his water for a few moments as he closed his eyes. HAH! Learned?! He had learned nothing only what that cursed ritual did to him was the only magic he knew. The only other magic he could use was what was predetermined in a Magitech matrix. That was it he didn't have any special gifts nor did he have the energy to pull it off according to the Headmaster. His energy unless coming across items or other unique rituals would forever remain the same that's something that he would have to deal with. And that cursed runic spell didn't make it easier either. He shook his head for a moment and leaned his head against his hand for a moment as he lightly tapped his fingers against the smooth and polished wood. A gentle drumming as he considered whether or not to answer this question. Question. Hah what a bloody question this was something he wasn’t exactly in the mood for answering. Still Phae had shown him trust and he didn’t want to back out on that.
Is trust that important? Why am I fretting over it so much?
Because she laughed…
She doesn’t mind me for being who I am.
He shook his head for a moment to get that mournful set of thoughts out of his brain as he continued drumming his fingers. He knew that he wouldn’t leave Phae’s question unanswered the question was how should he answer it? This was obviously not something to be answered lightly. His ability was a curse. Plain and simple granted to him by a ritual of death.
“I didn’t learn my magic. I was imbued with it through a forbidden ritual. The cost was a friend’s life that had been close to me. I am a Magitech Knight or the early and ancient version known as an Archanamach. My magic granted to me by a cursed ability. I can absorb magic and dish out blasts of hellfire. The Headmaster however, was generous and had engineers and enchanters craft for me special armors that I could use in combat to make up for my less then robust physical body and my weak energy. The armor’s energy matrixes I can tap into and activate them through the cost of my own energy. However, even then I am limited as those abilities are predetermined ahead of time. I doubt I could even learn new magic.”

When he spoke she listened intently. Her hand reaching out to his. The one drumming on the table and interlacing her fingers with his gently. When he spoke of his friend dying it was then that she let her fingers and his lock in a gentle hold. She looked up at him their arms draped across the table she offered him a gentle smile.
"I'm sorry about your past. But if anything came out of it.. not only are you talented but you are here. And had it not happened I would never have met you and I think.. that now that I'm getting to know you.. that it is a blessing that we have met." she said with a soft smile her fingers running over the skin on the back of his hand gently before settling back down into the interlacing hold.
"As for myself. Mine woke when I was young. I was working with my blade. My uncle who is a mage as well as a swordsman gave us lessons daily. Me and my sister that is. And as such that day I was very fustrated with an intricate dance I just couldn't get the end of. Well, I got really mad and hit a target very hard getting out my anger and my blade erupted in flames. At first I was scared because I didn't understand. Both my parents are non magical and so I hadn't really been around that much magic." she said with another smile leaving her hand where it was trying to offer him any comfort she could.
"So luckily my uncle being the mage he was saw it for what it was. And so he began to train me in both magic and the sword. So that is basically how I learned. A quick run through of how I honed the ability anyway. I learn new spells from time to time and it's fun really to see what I can do to the blade. Harder, softer, flaming or iced. Several things." she smiled once more at him.
"And, do you have any questions for me Khel?" she asked as she rested her head on her free hand.

Her hand was touching his. He felt his fingers that were drumming suddenly stop as that gentle calloused hand was holding his. Her soft skin even if it had its rough patches was working against his hand holding and caressing. For once in his life Kheldar truly felt unbalanced in a non-dangerous situation. Or was it? He didn’t know but, he couldn’t help but, feel different, conflicting, emotions surging through him. Her hand being against his own hand spreading warmth and what felt like life to it. There was just no other way to describe what was going through him at that instance. A girl who he had only just met today and became friends with in mere minutes was holding his hand and offering what? What was she offering that he felt so eluded by? What was going through his mind that he couldn’t explain? He was out of element. There was no way to explain this. Not right now not yet. Yet at the same time he didn’t want to explain it. Kheldar wanted it to be unknown not just some boring fact that he’d lose interest in. He wanted the curiosity in this feeling to remain just as it was. Unique! That’s what he wanted it to be.
She’s offering me…comfort? Is this what it feels like? This feeling of knowing that you could truly share the darkness that you stand against with someone else. What am I supposed to say…how do I respond…to this?
He looked up when she started speaking her soft words filling his ears in a rush as he looked up not with his cold and distant gaze. Rather instead a gaze of someone who had truly been lost. Kheldar knew now that deep-down he was going nowhere without a purpose in this day to day living. It was a joke the joke on himself. He thought he could just be…what he wanted to be each day and not have to plan ahead or look behind. Yet, here Phae was making him think. He had to think. There was no other way he couldn’t without making a rash move himself. What was it about her touch that had him so rattled now? Was it because she initiated herself even in his most distant moment? How could he describe what was going through his mind?
I don’t. I just have to realize that there are some things even I can not know instantly or learn quickly. I guess this is my weakness…
How ironic…
I have incredible genius and resourcefulness yet my downfall is in feelings…
I really need to quit reading those sappy romances…
He heard Phae talk about how she learned well stumbled upon her gift. Her past seemed so interesting and curious truly different from his own. Was that because she had others to share her triumphs and despair? Was that what he was really missing? Really striving for? He frowned for a moment on the inside his gaze still unsure as he listened to her words for a moment. Her uncle had taught her magic. She treated magic not as a curse but, a beautiful gift that should be cherished. Was that how he should view his gift? Rather then curse the ritual that bound his magic but, honor the death of someone that had been close to him?
Have I truly become so hollow?
“No I don’t have any questions yet.”
He looked up into her gaze.
“Yet down the road I sense I will Phae. I think down the road as I learn things that I have missed…I will have questions for you. You being a friend who I feel I can trust. Ironic and cliché admittedly but, that’s how I feel right now. I don’t know when I’ll have my questions but, when I do you’ll be the first to hear them.”

Phae watched him her eyes were soft and caring because this was her friend. She had met yet another friend and that meant the world to her. She loved people she needed interaction and people or she was liable to go nuts in a heartbeat. It was just the girl she was. A happy, go lucky, people person.
She smiled at him when he spoke. She didn't remove her hand because she was reading his face and it seemed that he needed this. Needed to feel connected to another. Needed to know that friends always had each others backs and were there for one another no matter what. That she would be there for him. They were friends now and she didn't make commitments lightly. No, this was something that if she had anything to say about it would last for some time to come.
"Well, when you do have those questions or even if you just want to talk or hang out. You can always come find me. Maybe we can go visit other places around the world. I can show you a bit of Germany or we can go somewhere new to us both and explore. Camping! We can do all manner of things." she said with a smile thinking about all the fun the two could have together now that they were getting closer as friends.
It had seemed that he was holding back just slightly on the information and emotions he was giving her earlier. But some how the comforting touch she gave him at the small rough patch in his life story seemed to open him up. She was now talking to the real Khel and she couldn't be happier.
"So can I ask.. what your full name is?" she asked curiously. "I love knowing those for some reason. I guess.. it's weird but.. anyway. Mine is Phaedra Marguerite Weiss." she said with a smirk.
"Evil parents." she said with a laugh as her thumb stroked his gently her eyes never leaving his face.

Kheldar wasn’t sure what to say as he felt Phae’s hand still on his and holding it spreading warmth to his fingertips and even all the way out to his wrist. This physical contact actually meaning something more then just some random touch or caress. Was this what he had been missing previously what he had so ardently ignored for several moments at a time? This was strange…no not strange beyond strange since he didn’t have an answer to this. It rattled him slightly that he didn’t have an answer to his questions for once. He chewed on his inner cheek for a moment as he thought about it turned the problem around in his head a few times and concluded one thing. He really didn’t know the answer yet. Not because he was stupid oh no tests showed that he was smart enough. Rather instead he had not experienced the world like others have and did not have the broader picture of things.
Why am I thinking on this so much?
What has me unbalanced about this?
Maybe it was the lasagna I ate last night…
Damn stomach cramps screwing me up…
Kheldar looked up when he heard her voice again and heard her speak in that soft and friendly voice always full of kindness it seemed. He gave a smile at Phae a small little smile not a full-blown one. No he wasn’t ready for those yet and he had a serious doubt that he would ever be anytime soon. Not because he was just stubborn it was just how the world was some had to be unhappy to balance for the happy and perky types. That’s the way the world was not everyone could be happy and he accepted that because that was fact. A universal truth that his brain could fundamentally understand because he was overly critical of things not because he just wanted to be an asshole he was who he was. He still felt Phae’s fingers on his hand those warm fingers gently rubbing the back of his hand and fingers giving feeling and emotion to the touch. It was strange yet oddly welcoming yet another of those cursed flaws. A person could not survive on their own for humans were fundamentally social creatures at their most primal level.
Man this sucks…
No more romances and midnight snacks…
They’re fuddling my thoughts.
Camping? What a strange idea to do. Yet she seemed excited about it and even seemed willing to help him tour her homeland where she came from. Both thoughts seemed oddly welcoming but, just because he was unbalanced didn’t mean he was going to go all mushy and angst-ridden. HELL NO! Kheldar looked up and spoke in response.
“I’d like that. It sounds like something I’d like to do.”
Maybe I’ll see her in bed clothes…
He heard her then speak her full name and he blinked when she asked his and frowned for a moment. His full name? He really didn’t know. He never really gave it thought either. He was just satisfied with Kheldar.
“I don’t know my full name.”
He said truthfully before he turned his gaze to her again.
"Is a full name that important? A name is simply something that we attach emotion too it is still only a word."
He said softly.
"So what did you do during your summers in Germany when not training?"

Phae looked up at Khel. She was definatly shocked he didn't know his full name. She didn't make any movements to show that she was shocked but inwardly she wondered how he couldn't know that. But she figured that as long as it didn't matter to him then it shouldn't matter to her whether he had one or not.
"Well, if it is important to you at any point you could always give yourself one you know. But, if it doesn't matter then don't worry about it." she said with a shrug.
She watched him meet her eyes again and she smiled reassuringly at him. She did enjoy his company he was honest to a point and she liked that. It was not only refreshing but it constantly kept her on her toes.
"Ooo summer huh? Well, lets see. Usually we would go on some family trip to the country. I'm from Berlin a very huge city and my father being a doctor and my mother being a nurse they were constantly at work. So usually they would take a week off and we would just go to a small house in the country where we could relax and play. Just be ourselves." she began.
"Beautiful out there in the country. Flat and hilly land. Meadows of wild flowers and a large lake. My sister and I would go swimming and lay in the tall grass reading books for hours. We had no tv or anything of the like so it was really just nice to relax without all that technology. Granted when we got home we were usually tv fiends but it was so nice and relaxing out there. My father taught us how to fish and at least once that week we would get up well before dawn to go fly fishing in the lake." she said with a smile as she met his eyes again.
"The rest of the summer was usually my sister and I hanging out with friends and shopping. I'm a shopper, I must admit." she said with a laugh. "I read a lot. Our tutors well.. we had school all year long except for during that week we went to the lake. But they were only half days because our friends who were in normal school got out for so long. So it was fun for us." she said with another smile.
"And you? Did you have summers? And if so what did you do?" she asked looking into his eyes.

It's cute...
Almost...
I'd like to be in one of those meadows with her...
Only what I have in mind probably isn't what she'd expect.
Kheldar listened to her words and just shrugged at her name comment first as he leaned back and considered what she said for a brief moment and had to admit he never considered it. Nobody had the same first name as his and his name wasn't exactly common given the fact that well it just wasn't his name was a tad unusual. Noble sounding yet at the same time a name that would associate with a well-known trader. Kheldar took his free hand and lightly drummed his fingers on the desk for a moment as he finally spoke up.
"I've never found it necessary to give myself a new full name yet. Perhaps down the road but, Khel or Kheldar is just fine with me. After all a name is only a name it's the person behind the name that counts if I'm not mistaking."
Her parents were a nurse and doctor he never trusted the doctor types himself unless they were truly the take care of you doctor not the in the name of science I create hell type. Kheldar had enough encounters with the latter to make him a tad weary of that type for probably the rest of his life. Not paranoid just mistrusting and a tad weary as he continued to meet her gaze and thought about a few things before turning his attention to her.
"Your summers were nice then to be honest I never really got out that much. Before I was taken to Babylos by the Academy I was more or less on a year-round training regime. And that is putting it nicely."
He murmured but, gave a small weary smile at the end.
"Afterwords really it was just a year-round vacation at Babylos. The Academy pays for my needs and I'm getting royalties from a few engineering designs to make myself more self-sufficient and independent. I probably know Babylos City better then any other student at the Academy."
He stood up with her and walked with her to the book racks.
"So what's it like having a sibling?"

Phae stood up when he did. It seemed he was not yet ready to let go of her hand. Either needing or wanting it she did not let go. She let him lead her over to the books and she stayed close just enjoying the time they were spending together. It was nice getting to know someone so different. He was showing her a different aspect of life and she liked it.
"Well, I'm a twin and an identical one at that. So regular siblings and me and my sister are a bit different but I'll do my best for you." she said with a chuckle. "Phoebe and I are very close and when we grew up we were inseperable. She's the shy and quiet type and I'm the more hyper happy one. So I was the one that had her meet people and took care of her watching out for her in true big sister fashion as I'm all of eight minutes older than her."
She nudged him playfully and gave him a happy wink as they continued walking through the books she would let him stop wherever he wanted to she was too busy talking.
"But sometimes having a sibling is so wonderful. Some one you can talk to and confide in. Someone that always looks out for you and you for them. A bond that is hard to break. Yet, many siblings don't get along at all. They fight and bicker but deep down they do love each other.. I think. Phoebe and I were never like that. Always close despite being complete opposites its just.. the way we work." she said with a shrug.
"So .. can I ask how it was for you growing up?" she asked looking over at him with a smile.

"You speak of your sister very fondly. Perhaps I'd like to meet her sometime down the road when we have the spare time. If she is your sibling then she most be a good person to get to know like you."
Kheldar said with a small smile.
Threesomes for the win...
He smacked himself mentally as he stopped in front of a book rack that had caught his interest. He began browsing the technical manuals finally letting go of her hand although it was rather reluctent and that much was obvious as he crotched down to study some of the titles on the bottom shelf. Always so many things to learn, Kheldar was thankful that he was a quick reader and knew how to speed read when it was necessary. Through truthfully he just enjoyed sitting down to a book. Kind of a weakness thing so to speak as he considered the titles in front of him and the subjects that they covered.
"Eh kind of lonely and empty for the first years. When I wasn't being experimented on or trained I was left alone and expected to be thankful for it. Sure there were a few scientists that I had grown to like the nicer ones and there was a nice sargent I knew who slipped me snacks and reading material now and then. When I got to the Academy it was more of a welcome thing I've studied unofficially at the academy for a few years so they could help me adjust to my gifts and control them."
He glanced at the titles again.
"Sooooo what was your schooling like?"

Phae felt him let go of her hand and hers immediatly felt cold for the lack of warmth his hand had been giving her. She turned her back to the shelf and leaned against it slightly as she listened to his words. She didn't like the sound of tests but she at least could be happy that he was here now and the he was able to enjoy life test free now. She wanted to get to know more about him and it seemed that he was willing to open up to her and for that she was grateful. He seemed like a nice guy that would be a great friend if he really opened up and let her get to know him truthfully.
"Well, I went to a normal elementary school. You know classrooms, old teachers, text books and the like." she said with a flourish of her wrist. "But after that my father and Phoebe and I home schooled so that way we could study our blades as well. He wanted us as proficient of blade as studies. Phoebe was better at the sword than me but she picked up the rapier and I picked up a normal slicing blade. So our training regimins were vastly different. Yet we always had fun and I never felt that training was a chore it always felt as if I was supposed to have a blade in my hand from the very beginning. So for the most part Phoebe and I just did our homework and read our text books in between practices and managed to keep extremely good grades." she said with a smile.
She looked down at Khel and smiled. He really did love books probably as much as she loved talking and meeting people. She did have a lust for books but they weren't in a section that made her drool just yet and she was in no hurry.
"What about you? What kind of education did you have?"

Her sweating after a training...
Uniform clinging to her body showing her curves...
Her chest heaving...
Her lips tasting of...
DOWN! BAD KHELDAR BAD BAD BAD!
Yet I bet she'd still be ready for a tussle...
Kheldar for once was thankful that he was crouched down and had semi-long hair as he studied the titles of the book eventually settling on one but, couldn't help but, want to groan at his angle. Not only did he see her toned lower legs but, he also saw up her skirt alittle and saw her toned thighs. He was thankful that his hair of course prevented her from seeing where he was looking. Yes he didn't want to be smacked by her that would be a bad thing a very bad thing indeed. Yes indeedy smacking was something that he didn't feel like getting done to him. Because he had a sneaky suspicion that Phaedra would be able to REALLY hit him hard.
Damn it to hell why are the strong ones always the hottest...
He listened to her talk about her education as he picked out an engineering design book and also picked up another title this one on code and scripting. He hummed as he put those books under her arm and heard her next question.
Mine?
"Accelerated educational standards. I was reading high school material by the time I was nine and before the Academy got to me I was starting into college level. I've since continued that and have acquired two bachelor degrees. I haven't felt the urge to get one of my master's yet."
It was still hell...accelerated is not pleasent.
"Not an educational level I'd recommend. Trust me. That's not including the military training."
He shrugged for a moment as he walked with her to the fantasy section remembering that she was big on that and his eyes browsed through the titles he did however, step behind her so his head rested on her shoulder.
"So what did you want to do after this?"

Phae walked beside him to the section she loved most and immediatly her eyes lit up with the prospects of adding some new books to the library she and Jun had already acquired among them. She stood in the center of the isle looking down at the books reading the titles waiting for one to catch her interest.
She felt his head on her shoulder and she blushed slightly as it was a much more intimate touch than what they had shared previously. She saw a few vampire books she had been wanting to get and she stepped away from him slowly so as not to startle him as she crouched down and grabbed the books hugging them to her chest.
"Hmm.. let's see we have coffee or well tea covered and we got the books covered. Let's see." she chewed on her lip and tugged on the ends of her hair both nervous habits or things she did when she was thinking. She stood up still chewing and tugging. "You ever been dancing Khel?" she asked looking over at him.
