Name: Marcus Verita
Occupation: Apprentice Mage/Puppet Master/Part-time Waiter
Nationality: English/American
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 160 Lbs
Age: 19 Years
Hair Color: Red
Eye Color: Green
Appearance:
As seen in the image above, Marcus has a fairly non-threatening appearance. This is one of the factors that helps him when using his Puppet Master abilities, but is completely natural and undecided from birth. Generally, Marcus wears semi-formal wear. A colored dress shirt, untucked, black slacks, and a pair of black sneakers. Nothing too fancy, but enough to partially add to his charisma.
Personality: Marcus is a very kind, gentle, and comforting person. He is very charismatic, having no problem with talking, or communication of any kind. He enjoys conversation, and can be seen quite often in a group of people. Of course, this is simply his first layer. Beneath it is a sadistic, controlling man. One who, although remains calm, has no problem with doing whatever he needs in order to get what he wants: the feeling of control. One he holds quite dear to his heart. Of course, his outer shell is different enough to keep him from suspicion of anyone.
History: Marcus, although one would not suspect it, was born into a loving and caring family. His mother was a nurse, and his father a high-up office employee, the family living in London. Not overly exciting, but middle class generally isn't. Oddly enough, Marcus was a well-behaved child. He ate his vegetables, went out and played, and was even accepted at school as the most popular child. However, even so, it would not always be. Why? Well, there's always that one kid.
Marcus was attacked when he was about eight years old by the bully in the same grade. Of course, even then his magic was developing itself, and he was able to talk himself out of it. But, at the last minute, when the two walked away, Marcus gave into the urge, picking up a rock and hurling it into the back of the other boy's head. The boy got a good knock along the skull, turning around with tears already in his eyes. However, Marcus still continued, throwing rock after rock at the boy, all until the point that he had blood all up and down his body. Numerous broken bones in his face, and a lifetime of bumps and bruises.
Marcus would serve three years in a Juvenile correctional facility, where he would eventually come to depend on his abilities for pleasure, causing over sixty one hospitalizations, and twelve deaths. However, with his abilties, the deaths and injuries could only be routed to provoked and unprovoked attacks. With no more sentence, Marcus would be released, where he would return home in order to face the days. As well as much, much more violence.
By fourteen, Marcus would become an accomplished mage, creating three spells, and his words stained with crimson. He forced seven small gang wars, and two larger. All left many bloody murders, and none were ever even remotely traced back to him. His parents were not even any the wiser. Besides the incident of the eight year old, he was and always had been a well behaved child. And so he would remain.
On the eve of his nineteenth birthday, Marcus, after causing several injuries and nine deaths at his college, as well as over fourty five deaths at his old highschool, would recieve a message from one of the tracers. Apparently, they sensed magical potential in him, but knew not of his past deeds. It would be interesting, to be sure. Or so Marcus figured. So, two weeks later, with a simple good by to his parents and to his college, Marcus left for the Academy.
To the day, Marcus has spent only three days at the academy, but even so, has already recieved a part-time waiter's job at a local restaurant in Babylos. Things are going good for him, and soon he will begin classes. But, it's going to a whole lot better. That much is for certain.
Style
Puppet Mastery: The name would suggest that one uses wooden manacquins attached to strings, but not so in Marcus' case. Rather, Puppet Mastery is used solely as the title, the actual magic striking resemblances to puppet's, but not so in the literal term. Instead, Marcus is a persuader of sorts. He uses magic laced within his voice, his eyes, and any other means he can in order to gain control of someone. Like an advanced Hypnosis. This is helped along with his overall comforting demeanor, which, as it is, is one of his more basic and somewhat untraceable magics.
Strengths: Of all, Marcus is intelligent. He knows how to wriggle out of situations with his abilities, but also how to make them look good. Risk doesn't generally get high, and his intelligence helps him keep it that way. Also, it adds when there's something he wishes to posess, making his brain a great tool for espionage. As well, Marcus has not only a pretty good amount of Mana, but also abilities that don't use up a whole lot of it. Of course, he doesn't fight a lot, but with his skills, it wouldn't be hard to at least get away.
Weaknesses: Marcus' main weakness is physical, of course. He's not REALLY bad at sports, but definitely not a pro either. Chances are, he won't win in a power struggle, a race, and for sure not a fist fight. Of course, he isn't popular because of his physical abilities, but even so. It is if not just a little pathetic. However, even with this, there is another weakness. His magic. Although it seems fairly powerful, it has quite a fair amount of holes, the grand canyon of which being the lack of power behind it. If he were, to say, get on the P.A. system, he could control a good chunk of the school. However, if it came to putting a hole through it, that would be better left to an elemtalist.
Spell List:
Uplifting Air: A basic Enchantment used by Marcus subconsciously. The user lets out an untraceable amount of energy around their body. This gives anyone who enters the five foot radius around Marcus a sort of comforting feeling, which feels natural to the person, and thus does not leave them wondering why they feel such a way, for it isn't recognized by the conscious mind. Of course, there's more to this effect than just that. The feeling makes one less resistant to greater controlling techniques, making them easier to capture.
Puppet's Eye: A simple but not-so-powerful ability. Of all spells, Marcus dislikes this overall, deaming it generally problematic, for total eye contact is needed, as well as a moment's preparation. Basically, One will focus energy into their eyes, this energy being released invisibly towards another when the two have eye contact. The transmission is as quick as light, however, one must have their eyes closed for two full minutes in order to charge the spell. The result is a two minute hypnosis of the person, leaving possibility for one to use the much stronger Puppetry 27. Of course, it is only hypnosis, and not full puppetry, basically keeping one from performing illegal acts, because one still has some conscious freedom left.
Puppeteer's Voice: The user would focus inisible energy into their voice, using a sort of wordology (quite literaly). It requires ten consecutive seconds of speaking, all sounds having to have the enemy listening. If in battle or the like, Marcus will usually pretend this as the incantation of a spell or such. If just one he wishes to be under control, chances are he will just converse naturally, letting the person slip under his control covertely. The result of this spell is full puppetry, the user controlling them and making them do whatever he wishes for a full ten minutes. This will only have an effect if heard by the intended person, and will still remain even if the person ignores the words. There must be something physically keeping the person from hearing for it not to be effective.
Puppetry 27: A ritual of sorts in order to gain someone under the User's control for 27 days. It is divided into three groups, each one essential to the overall effect. If one step is screwed up, it will all fail.
1st Step: This step is the hardest for most beginners, but easy for the charismatic Marcus. One needs to physically touch the person for one second. This must be skin on skin contact. If it's skin on cloth or cloth on cloth, there's no effect, and the entire ritual will be rendered as a dud.
2nd Step: Within three seconds of skin contact, one must say the word "Marionetta". This word must be loud enough for the one being put under control to hear, being spoken clearly. If there's a slight cough or something in the middle, or the word is being mixed up in between one or two other words so that the person can't understand it as one word, then it is a failure. However, if it is a success, then the person will fall under a six second time frame in which they're mind becomes blank.
3rd Step: Now that the user's mind is blank, their thoughts are open for change. In this time, anything said by the user will be instantly input into that person's subconscious mind. Almost like a human computer they'll be rebooted. And, like a computer, it needs the right code. In the time frame, the user must say their full name, eye color, and finally, the word "Dominare". This must be spoken clearly, as well as quickly. If this is screwed up, then the ritual is a failure, and the person is no longer possible for the ritual by that user again. However, if it works, then the person will awaken with no harm done to their consciousness, and no memory of the ritual. All they will know, is that they blacked out. But, it would be not so. The person, whenever told so verbally, by the user, will do whatever they wish. They will act normally at any other time however. The effect where's off after 27 days, and the ritual cannot be performed again for another month.
Puppet's Pen: One that Marcus has yet to truly develop, it has the off chance of working, but it's not probable. Basically, by lacing pen or pencil strokes with mana, one can make a specific reader do what is ever written on the paper. This is only an advanced hypnosis, however, and will not suceed unless the words are written in absolute precision. Marcus has a few paragraphs used for this technique in his closet, most of which have taken him months and months for just several sentences.
