Name: Hakkesho Baguazha Taijuan
Nationality: English, Japanese, Chinese
Height: 6’2
Weight: 12 stone
Age: 25
Hair Color: Light Grey
Eye Color: Pearl white
Appearance:
Hakkesho is tall, with broad shoulders. He has a pale complexion – his hair is light gray and long, it runs down his back to the base of his coccyx, the fringe is about a foot long and his eyes are silver/clouded, with black edges. He looks obviously oriental. Depending on his mood, Hakkesho wears whatever traditional suit he feels in correspondence to his origins. That is either a traditional Kimono – Black with a small sleeve, and a Haori overjacket with the large sleeves that drop down to his hip, a black Obi (belt), and a black Hakama with leather soled Tabi shoes (the soles are dark blue) – Or a long Chinese suit – A black overjacket with the standard neck collar – the area that has the cloth that interlocks to do up the jacket moves across the right side of the chest and stops short about a foot from his collarbone – then the overjacket drops down to his ankles, rather like a chinese trench coat. The underjacket is red – it appears round his collar to give his collar a red lining, and the sleeves are folded up and over the end of the black sleeves.
His fists are fairly large; his knuckles protrude from them well. His forearms (above and under) are covered in scars ranging from small to large, wide gashes. Under his forearm, he has 5 symbols engraved – each symbol about and inch and a half long. They read Nintai no Shi – Japanese Kanji. The meaning is only apparent to those who understand.
His chest has one very large and wide scar that reaches from the top of his right collarbone down across his chest to the edge of his left hip.
Personality:
Hakkesho is very difficult to understand – he is bipolar. At times he can be impulsive, funny, and other times he is quiet, sad and depressive. He rarely talks to anyone usually, and then sometimes he is very talkative. When in a certain mood, he can be somewhat cocky but not arrogant – it hides his extremely insecure interior.
History:
Hakkesho was born in a Chinese community on an island in the middle of the pacific ocean – not known by many other people as the island is restricted from other country’s public occupation or visit (due to a UN treaty.) He was raised under tutelage of his Chinese father Jian Hua, who taught him the physical martial arts Bagua Zhang, Chow Gar Mantis XianXiao Dim-mak Shaolin from the age of 4 continuously until he left the island. He also saw instruction of the Islands fighting master who taught him various other hand to hand and weapon styles such as Ninpo Taijutsu,Bikenjutsu, Rokushakubojutsu, Malaysian Silat and such – but beneath the eyes of his father, the instructor would begin to give him Chi developing exercises that would eventually grow enough so that Hakkesho would be able to control his internal Chi freely. Through this, Hakkesho would begin to understand the laws of nature more – his intense training would help him open his eyes. His training schedule was – Every day awake at 6 – 1000 Katana, Dao or Naginata cuts before breakfast. Afterwards – 4 hours of whatever art he chose, Usually Bagua; an internal style that helped him relax and warm up his muscles. Afterwards, lunch, and then another 4 hours of intense MA – when without a partner, usually just Shaolin, when with a partner he would practise Ninpo Taijutsu or Silat. Afterwards he would have a small dinner, continue training for another 3 – 4 hours, and sleep.
When around 14, he began developing his magical knowledge – and his teacher harnessed it and taught him. His father realized his magical potential and natural Chi ability – and disgraced him. The town attacked him, eventually the whole village turned against him. At 15, Hakkesho disappeared from the island, traveling the world.
During his travels, he met another man – who befriended him and harnessed his magical ability even more. He developed a love interest with the man’s daughter. His mentor and teacher betrayed him – used him to quell a civil war between a large community in south Korea, and eventually destroy small civilizations of nucleated islands across the world. When Hakkesho realized what he had done – he turned against his master.
His loved one betrayed him, behind his back.
After more years of reconsilliation and healing, Hakkesho has joined the Arcane academy.
Style
Hakkesho names his style Hagakure Shi – ‘To kill in the shadow of leaves’.
Its primary focus is from the external magic style of Chi/Ki, Wind Elementalism and small-level Alchemy. The Chi and Elementalist aspects go hand in hand – To use the Wind to distract an enemy, while internally focusing his Chi to deliver a deadly physical strike as Alchemy increases the molecular movement between atoms to increase the destructive capability of the attack – or for example, while using Alchemy to disrupt the molecular movement in a magical attack or to guard himself by clustering random particles, while delivering a wind-boosted external Chi blast to the opponent (those are philosophy’s of his style put physically).
Strengths:
Hakkesho’s strengths are his Martial knowledge – catch an opponent unguarded hand to hand, he is extremely devastating and efficient. That known – his extensive martial arts training his lead him to knowledge of humans natural Chi meridians – strikes and attacks of any form to these area’s are devastating. Through his experiences, he also realizes phychology of people and is a good situation handler.
Weaknesses:
His magical ability has not been fully harnessed, and therefore he can sometimes strive too hard to improve this – forcing him to overexert himself, sometimes to try to prove to himself and others that he can use magic. He also suffers from very low will – and his apparent depression causes him to just give up tasks.
Spell List:
(Stages) Suzaku – Lv.1
The ability allows him to internally focus his Chi to one point in his body – to be released or to increase the power/speed of a strike. Use weakens Hakkesho depending on time. Use for over 30 minutes weakens Hakkesho severely.
Suzaku – Lv.2
The above, his Chi can be gathered externally and transferred between himself and another object, tearing it apart and possibly destroying it, as his Chi is internally focused in his body at the same time. Use weakens Hakkesho depending on time. Use for over 15 minutes weakens Hakkesho severely.
Suzaku – Lv.3
The above. The Lv.3 suzaku gives Hakkesho the ability to manipulate any other life-forces Chi, aswell as draw upon (a non-aggressive component, such as a comrade, or even a tree). Use weakens Hakkesho depending on time. Use for over 10 minutes weakens Hakkesho severely.
Survivor – Lv.1
He can share TWO magical ability at its raw form with another component. (One magical ability either way). The ability is partially weakened and cannot be sustained for longer then A day, at most.
Oni Kudaki
Hakkesho’s destructive attack. Harnesses all his magical ability to disrupt (not destroy) the atomic structure of anything within a 15 meter radius. Weakens Hakkesho severly, very possibly kills him. (This attack is something he would only call on for a greater purpose. It is a selfless move.) The attack takes a few minutes to prepare.
Weapons/Gear:
Muramasa Katana ‘Shirokumo’ White cloud – length 39 Inches (Including handle).
Metsubushi – Smoke bombs in egg (Flour and chili powder stored in egg shell)
Iron wristguards – over 7mm thick, causes extreme pain when used to block.
Items:
None
Note: Understands human anatomy extremely well.
Understanding Hakkesho
Appearance – Hakkesho’s gray/white hair is due to his mother’s Albino heritage. Although Albino condition is caused between the inferior gene in a chromosome, the inferior gene did not have the usual effect – it instead caused his eyesight to sometimes waver, his complexion to be pale and UV resistance to be slightly under normal. His bones and muscles are naturally affected slightly, but his intense training routine and the fact that he supplements himself with daily calcium intake (aswell as other things – He has a poor metabolism, too) causes them factors to remain stable and normal.
Psychology – There are 4 main factors in Hakkesho’s life that cause him to be who he is. First of all – the disgrace from his father and family (his mother objected to this, and she was scolded), The forced turn to his master after realizing how he had been used, The realization of what he had done, and the girl he loved betraying him. These all affected Hakkesho in certain ways – the most damage was taken on the side of trust. The disgrace was a deep impact – he loved and respected his father, as he loved his town (for living in a secluded place, you know people very well). He had felt like he had done something wrong – and had also tasted the hurt of a loved one turning on him. When he realized what a monster his second mentor and master was, Hakkesho was forced to turn against him. That was a mental struggle – and sometimes even now Hakkesho thinks he did something wrong. It drained him severely. The girl he loved turning on him – (specifically, stabbing him in the back, and cutting him down from the front) had a huge impact. He felt the pain of betrayal. This was most probably the most hurtfull factor of his life – even though he thought he should have been prepared since he had been betrayed in the past. This is part of what lead him to believe that HE did something wrong, which topples his insecurity meter.
It also comes down to small things like the fact that his girlfriend loved his appearance – which since she betrayed him, he feels it was all a lie and is extremely insecure about it.
The fact that he had to kill his master, and accidentally killed the girl, contributes.
Because he had learned martial arts from his father and original mentor, and they have become so deeply intergrated with his life, he feels he himself is worth nothing, and can only cause death and pain.
Magic – Suzaku
The forms of Suzaku are all centered around Chi. Specifically, the first level is centered around focusing internal Chi to a specific point(s) on his body. This increases speed (for instance, for Chi to be focused into the fist, it would travel along the arm and have effect on the arm too) and power (The speed increases the power, and the Chi increases destructive capability of the attack). The Chi is then subsequently transferred through his means to the point of strike – the Chi isn’t used up, only the energy. Think of it as an electrical current – As a current flows, it is charged by electrons from a battery. As the electrons are transferred into ect. A bulb, the electrons are lost but not the current. The current stays. Therefore, the Chi is maintained but his Chi’s destructive energy is lost, slowing the Chi’s flow and disabling the body furthermore.
The next level is centered around gathering and externally transferring the Chi and the energy between two physical objects. Think of it like heat conduction – as electrons gain energy, the atoms move more, moving across an object. This form of Suzaku is to weak to inhibit a blast that would sustain itself traveling between separated molecules of air, though through a solid surface such as a wall, it can be focused and directed as a ‘beam’. Though that wouldn’t be visible. When the Chi is transferred to the object, the connection is broken, it cuts off the circuit. The Chi and free energy does not become static – instead it finds a way to conduct itself and travel again. This is not possible, and it would tear through something on a molecular level (not an atomic level – that would require too much energy, when less could be used on splitting an atom releasing far more then breaking covelant bonds between atoms).
The third level of Suzaku is able through pure harmony with the surrounding life force – near ultimate understanding and awareness. Through this, Hakkesho could also connect with whatever Chi he sees fit – weather it be tree, bird, or comrade. The component must be totally compliant – for example, a bird or tree would not even realize they had Chi. An enemy knows on a subconscious, even sub-biological level, (possibly a conscious level if they have the right realization)as they would have aggressions towards Hakkesho and therefore Chi would not be compliant. When realization of Chi reaches this level, Hakkesho can use Chi to sustain a physical gathering (in form of destructive physical energy – obviously extremely hot, around that of plasma (15K or so), the movement of Chi would be the same as in Lv.2’s description but on a higher scale, the blast would be traveling at high velocity causing impact shock, and a general disruption of internal Chi of the opponent – which is devastating. Think of not taking out the bulb, but short circuiting the current.
Survivor bond – (Lv.1)
This is magical – it also partially relies on subconscious psychic bonds every human being has (but not enough to be deemed a psychic ability). Chi is required on both ends for a transfer, and at this level only physical contact can complete the spell. The Chi from both parts is lost completely – not enough to cause strife but enough to weaken the borrowed and the shared spell when used in high state (for instance, If using Lv.1 suzaku the weakening would not be noticed, if used Lv.3 it would be). The Chi drain does not cause problems on any of the other complaints techniques or general performance.
Oni Kudaki ‘To crush a devil.’
This spell utilizes what alchemy skills Hakkesho has and combines them with his Chi skills and Elementalist skills – Chi directly radiates from his body, highly charged with energy. Chi is at its most absorbing state – it absorbs static electricity, the ambient heat and photons from ambient light, aswell as electricity. The alchemy comes into play here – alchemy utilizes natural H20 from the atmosphere and uses the photons by converting them into raw energy to break H20 into hydrogen and oxygen – the bond breaking releases energy, the hydrogen is heated and turns to fire which is absorbed, as does the oxygen, and the leftover energy from the photons is absorbed aswell, causing a huge natural energy consumption. All the while the alchemy ability is doing another job – disturbing the energy created by these reactions (mainly electrons). By making them ‘move’, it creates more energy. Depending on the weather, Hakkesho can use Elementalism in wind form. He would manipulate warm winds and cold winds above ground level to collide, creating static electricity in a gathering moisture cloud, until the electricity was dispersed (lightning). The energy gather would make a clear conductor, enough to not be diverted. This would hugely boost the energy gathering. If this was not possible, Hakkesho would gather all the possible water molecules in the atmosphere he could to go through the H20 breaking process his alchemy was performing. All this creates a huge energy – which can be used in two ways.
Either – dispersed as a destructive blast. This is risky and unstable – it could possibly cause enough energy to split an atom, causing a nuclear reaction, resulting in sure death of Hakkesho.
Or – gathered by his body to be used as raw energy transferred into his magical capacity for alchemy, and using alchemy to disrupt the atomic structure of anything within a 15 meter radius – completely breaking up anything to its rawest forms. Only the most complex of compounds would not be fully broken. The shock to his body, Chi flow and pure physical state would kill him 9 out of 10 times.
Weapons :
Shirokumo ‘white cloud’ Katana.
Blade : 30 Inches long, 2.5 Sori curvature (majestic curve) Hamon: Midare, Muramasa
Handle : 9 inches long, black silk wrapping, golden Mekugi (dragons), black Same (rayskin underneath Silk wrapping).
Created by Muramasa, a partially psychotic sword maker known for his ferocity in battle. His blades were called ‘Demon blades’ by some because of two things – their amazing sharpness and that when thrust into a river to test its cut – the leaves would pass through and be cut, sometimes hovering with the blade for a few seconds as if possessed. Somehow, Muramasa would get the polish of the blade so perfect the sharpness would not ruin the blades consistency.
The White Cloud is not affected by the Suzaku as a means to transfer Chi because of its material – hammered, forged then folded steel. The steel was folded about 10 times, causing around a million folds in the blade – this makes the blade strong, yet allows a route for Chi to travel without damaging. It was specifically tempered too – the edge was tempered to form the crystalline edge, and as a touch the whole blade was partially tempered with a substance that would conduct the energy of chi along the outside – heading up the exterior but not the interior, and keeping the consistency of the blade. The cutting tip of the blade is the same thickness as the beginning – so that the Chi and energy would regroup at the tip, to be transferred. If transferal isn’t completed, Hakkesho would touch the blade or simply thrust it into the ground, so the energy would be grounded. The ground would react the same, and explode – sometimes just become unstable, which could be used as a trap. If it were mud, the mud would become like quick sand, ect.
Metubushi – egg shells half filled with flour and Chili powder, and sealed with rice paste.
Metsubushi can be carried in quantity, and used obviously to blind someone or stop their eyesight even for a slight second to gain an advantage. The flour is the blind, the chili powder for added effect. Also, when first dispersed, the powder can be used as a component to transfer Chi as in Suzaku Lv.2 – this can be done before or after the egg is cracked. When thrown, the egg can be used as a exploding powder bomb, though Hakkesho prefers cracking then waving, spreading the powder.
The chili powder is the secret weapon for the maintaining of Chi – chili contains an oil, which in turn contains the chemical which causes your nerves to run riot. So chili powder contains very slight traces of fluid – enough to be a stable enough holder of Chi (Liquid atoms more consistent then Gas atoms), as pure powder or air would not without exerting too much energy.
Iron wristguards – another hidden weapon. They are always worn and never seen – Iron wristguards are thick enough to stop a bladed weapon, and can be a secret transmitter of Suzaku Lv.2. They also damage when in melee. In extreme circumstances, they can be charged and thrown.
