Name: Xia Tianku
Occupation: Magic Rank; Apprentice. Profession; Vagabond and Soldier of Fortune
Nationality: Han Chinese/Mobiae
Height: 6’ 3”
Weight: 203 Lbs.
Age: 30, has stopped aging due to consciousness envelopment with Mobiae.
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown/Black
Appearance:
Beyond what can be seen in the bust portrait of him, Xia Tianku is a well muscled, toned fighting-machine. Standing at nearly six foot four, and weighing close to two hundred pounds, Tianku is a beast of a man. His shoulders are broad, and so is his chest. His body slims near the waist slightly, and his legs are long. He has piercing eyes and the bushy brows of a phoenix rising to the heavens.
Personality: Xia Tianku is an extremely just and morally upright individual, with a well-defined code of honor that he strives to uphold every second he remains in existence. He is brave, and despises those who show cowardice, yet at the same time, he is very intelligent, and knows full well the dangers of being reckless. He is extremely independent. He is a firm believer in the quote, “It is better to die standing, than to live on your knees.” By contrast though, the Mobiae he’s melded with his a cunning, ruthless individual who believes that the ends ALWAYS justify the means. He can propel Tianku to perform cold-hearted acts when in the heat of the moment, but for the most part enjoys staying hidden within the depths of their collective consciousness, and only makes his presence known when the “chips are down,” so to speak. The two put together make a rather volatile, yet determined and ruthlessly sharp individual.
History: Xia Tianku was born 21 B.C. to a family of farmers in the Eastern Han’s province of Jizhou, Ye prefecture. He grew up like most farmers’ sons of that age, helping his father plant and harvest crops to feed his family and the people of Ye. Most citizens preferred to dwell within the city’s walls, where protection against roving gangs of bandits, murderers, pirates and barbarians could be assured. However, Tianku was different; he enjoyed playing in the plains, among the hills and rare, but extremely dense forests that dotted the lands surrounding the city. He spent most of his childhood like this, living freely in Ye, playing when he didn’t have to work. As he aged he blossomed into a handsome and strong young man. Many girls were smitten with him, and they seemed to flock to him wherever he went. Other men came to him too, but not for romantic companionship, but for a more friendly one, and of course, to compete with him. Life seemed to be going great for him, but one event would cause this story to take a twist in the opposite direction. O’ how fate had conspired against him, but perhaps, it would work to his avail.
On the eve of his sixteenth birthday, Tianku decided to take an excursion out to a forest near a major Han highway leading from Ye toward the Han capitol of Luo Yang. The reason for this excursion was not spiritual, but rather materialistic. He wished to elope with a stunning maiden from the city. He took her to that forest under cover of night to make her his. Little did he know, a Han official and his entourage would be passing by the forest that night on their way from the Northern border. Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem, but the official was Peng Guantang, Viceroy of the He Bei region in which the city of Ye resided. Guantang was beating a hasty retreat after a conflict with some Xiongnu barbarians resulted in full blown war. The onset of the Xiongnu onslaught was so amazingly fierce that three border garrisons and two walled cities had fallen within a few weeks. The city of Ji, seat of power for the Han’s farthest Northern Province, Youzhou, had been taken by the Xiongnu. Ji was incidentally the place the Viceroy ruled the He Bei region from. Viceroy Peng had been tailed by a Xiongnu raiding party intent on taking his head. “What’s the real problem for Tianku in all of this,” you might ask? Viceroy Peng and his men had been traveling for weeks without stop, and needed rest badly. Thinking they had loosed the tenacious Xiongnu from their tails, they stopped by the very forest Tianku was losing his virginity in. Now, Tianku had a problem, and an extremely serious one at that. The Xiongnu descended from a nearby hilltop on the beleaguered Han defenders like an Eagle preparing to unleash a death blow unto his prey. The sounds of pitched combat echoed throughout the plains, as each Han soldier fought desperately for their lives, out numbered, and out matched by their assailants. Tianku had finished his deed sometime earlier, and was resting beside his new woman when blood curdling screams and the clangs of blades smashing reached his ears. He awoke instantly and quietly in a daze. He didn’t know what to think of these sounds, and being a curious person, elected to investigate. He came up to the edge of the forest to see the fight between the Xiongnu and Han forces reaching its apex. He realized quickly that these Xiongnu, beastly men, we’re assaulting innocents. To see his own people being pushed around so easily filled him with a resolve and fury that was unequaled by any other. In a split second he emerged from the woods, and grabbed the sword of a slain Xiongnu, and joined the Han guards in defending Viceroy Peng Guantang. He fought stalwartly against them, the moves and techniques just seemed to come naturally. He moved fluidly, blocking, striking and parrying. He was excited, yet he knew that somehow the techniques he was performing weren’t his, and felt an extra presence within him, guiding him to victory. When the fight was over, all the Xiongnu laid dead or dying in the road and gullies. It was a miraculous victory, and the Han owed it to Tianku. The captain of the guards and the survivors walked up to Tianku, and began to interrogate him rather harshly. “You, peasant boy, where did you learn to fight like that?! Answer me now!” the captain bellowed. “Captain, stand down. Can you not see that this ‘peasant boy’ has saved our lives?” a robed figure from behind the circle said calmly. It was the Viceroy. He pushed his way through the guards and walked up to Tianku gingerly. He bowed slightly, and came back to an upright position. “You have done much for your country this night, boy. You may have given our people a fighting chance in this conflict. Ah… where are my manners? I am Peng Guantang, Imperial Han Viceroy of the He Bei region. What is your name?” Tianku bowed before replying, “I am Xia Tianku of Ye, Lord Guantang.” “You’re from Ye? Hmm, boy, will you accompany me there?” Tianku’s eyes lit up at Guantang’s offer, and he nodded quite excitedly.
Upon returning to Ye, Tianku and Viceroy Peng stepped from Peng’s carriage. “Tianku, show me where you live, I have a proposition for your parents.” Tianku led Peng to his home, where his shocked and honored parents groveled before Guantang. Guantang bade them to rise and act normally. Once Tianku’s father, Xia Meng, was on his feet, Guantang recounted the tale of the battle to his Tianku’s parents. At the end of the tale, Guantang gave his proposition, “Xia Meng, I humbly ask to adopt your son as mine own. He will accompany me to the capitol where he shall be recognized for his gallantry, and receive a noble’s education.” His parents, realizing this was too good an opportunity to pass up, allowed Guantang to adopt Tianku and bade him farewell from Ye. And so it came to pass that Xia Tianku went to the capitol and was mentioned in the Viceroy’s report to the Emperor. The information the Emperor received from the Viceroy allowed them to achieve victory in the war against the Xiongnu. Several years would pass normally. Tianku learned how to fight properly, how to write and read, to perform calculations, how to administer government, philosophy, poetry, and how to lead troops for war. Yet, there was but one several strange occurrence through all of this. Tianku had recurring dreams of a man; A man whose skin was whiter than the whitest snow, which emanated an aura of raw power and possessed a cold, cruel mindset. A man who stood tall and strong, who obliterated hordes of charging warriors daily. A man who manipulated the very forces of nature that govern this world; this man was dressed in white set of armor, and had a shroud surrounding him that was darker than blackest night. Each time he had this dream, a piece of information would be revealed to him. A landmark or a subtle hint to where and who this man was. And finally, he received a message from the man, beckoning Tianku to seek him out. Tianku left suddenly one day, and at the age of 25, he began his journey to unravel this mystery. For 5 long, arduous years he journeyed north, through battle-scarred lands, he even passed his home city of Ye without stopping to say as much as “Hello.” His journey took him from Han China into Xiongnu lands, and even farther north still among the mountains and highlands. He came to a place where highland met desert, the Gobi Desert. There among the dunes he had seen in his dreams, he saw a dark shroud. He fervently raced towards it eager to see what awaited him. It was him, the man from his dreams. He simply stood there in the middle of the dune, the wind whipping sand across his face and exposed neck. Tianku felt the same presence emanating from the man, that he had felt years ago during his encounter with the Xiongnu. “You know why you’re here, do you not?” the man said, and the instant he did so, the wind ceased and blasts of cool air began to fly forth from him. Tianku stared at him for what seemed to be an eternity, and spoke, “Yes… to destroy you.” “Very good, human, you’re perceptive. I have called you here to end me for reasons beyond your comprehension at present. But soon, when, and if you defeat me, all will be known to you.” The man said in an ominous monotone. Tianku knew not why he must fight, all he knew it that he had to, and that it wouldn’t be easy. The battle begun, Tianku drew his blade. The mysterious contender drew his as well. It was a strange looking blade, one that looked to have ended countless lives. The two stared each other down once more, and then began to walk towards each other. They both held their swords high, and continued to close the gap until only about 8 feet lay between them, then they both swung. Their blades collided in the air, and the mystery man drew back sharply, dropped down into a squatting position and made low level spiraling slash at Tianku. Tianku jumped back and watched how the warrior spun in place in the sand, and deftly jumped back up to stand his full height. “Hahaha human, you’ve come far. But let’s see if you’re really up to the test now, shall we?” He took an outlandish fighting stance, bending his knees and holding the blade low with his right hand, his arm crossing his left leg, so that the point was facing Tianku. He charged and struck multiple times at Tianku’s torso. Shoosh, shoosh, shoosh, swish, swash, fwoosh were the sounds of the blade as it cut the air in front of Tianku. Tianku was side-stepping strikes, and ducking from slashes left and right. The way this man fought instantly reminded him of himself during his first time fighting ever of how he was able to move and strike so fluidly. Clang, cling, clang, their swords clashed against each other as Tianku now launched a counter offensive. They fought back and forth like this for several minutes until Tianku managed to land a decisive blow. A deep cut lanced the side of the mystery man, and just like that, he began to feel the man’s aura receding. There his adversary lay dying in the sand, the wind suddenly kicked up again, whipping sand across Tianku’s face now. “Well done human, you’ve proven to be a suitable host. Allow me to join you, and what I know, will be what you know. Surely you’ve some questions lingering at the back of your mind, yes?” A puzzled look came over Tianku’s face, he heard his foe’s voice, but his lips did not move, and a dead look was on his face. His enemy’s chest no longer heaved up and down to take in air, and lie dormant. “He’s dead… but then how?” Tianku thought, but was suddenly cut short as he blacked out; he felt an overwhelming presence entering his body. He recovered some time later, feeling strangely rejuvenated, he rose to his feet. He heard that voice within his head now. “You’ve made the right choice human. And I shall keep my promise. I will now reveal five great truths to you. You are an inferior being, in the universe there are many that can easily brush you aside, but with me guiding you, you will be ready to stand against them. Everything you know, everything you’ve been taught, is a lie. Everything you can see, feel, touch, smell, and hear results from quantum particles called strings. The power the vibration of the strings produces is the source of all energy in the universe. And when the time comes, you will be able to command this unbridled power at your desire.” Tianku then watched in horror as his body began moving of its own accord, or rather, that voice’s. He could suddenly see strange waves in the air, and hear a faint humming. His voice and the mysterious voice in his head were now chanting in some seemingly unintelligible gibberish. Suddenly, a hole appeared out of no where in front of him, and he could do was stare as his body entered it.
That was 2000 long years ago, and now I’ve overcome the fear and disbelief. Over the millennia, I’ve seen that those five great truths were legitimate. I’ve learned that there is no god; there is no fate, that the stars do more than illuminate the sky and provide heat in the endless void. I’ve learned that there is much happening that goes unseen, unnoticed by the universe at large, at least at this level; that the concept of a “soul” is nothing more than a cheap lie, a fake to distract people from the truth. That the constants of your world are ever changing and as such aren’t constants. I’ve learned that there are only two constants within this universe of ours, the string and consciousness. That the great archetype for all that exists, and ever will is the Mobiae, an intangible being made of nothing but string energy and consciousness. When I ask him why he chose me, he only replies with “You will soon see. I will pull the wool from your eyes, and you will see beyond the stars of man.”
Style: Mobiae Combat Technique, String and Particle Manipulation. Since Mobiae are intangible, they must inhabit a host body. Upon doing so, they test the limits of that body and develop set of tactics and techniques to use specifically with that host. It is optimized to take advantage of all the strength the host has. Mobiae combat technique includes the manipulation of the string particle, and harnessing its near infinite energy to create, destroy, and manipulate virtually every thing in existence.
Strengths: Mobiae are immune to all forms of psychokinetic techniques. Trying read one’s mind will either result in insanity, or ultimate enlightenment. Though the majority of the time, it results in the former. Elemental and other forms of force and energy manipulation are subject to his powers. Though he rarely chooses to for the sake of his honor, Tianku is capable of reflecting blows and spells back at his assailant. But the act requires a great deal of precision and string coordination, a level which he hasn’t yet attained. *He can block most weak to medium powered attacks if positioned correctly, but particularly fierce ones will be capable of breaking through*
Weaknesses: However invincible a Mobiae may seem, they are really quite vulnerable to physical damage. Like any other humanoid, if struck in a vital spot or if the string-flow to the Mobiae is significantly reduced, he can die. This will leave their consciousnesses doomed to wander the endless voids of space until a suitable host body can be found once more. His armor is primarily metal-based, and therefore is susceptible to rusting in the face of wind/water attacks, electrocution in the face of lightning attacks, and heat in the face of fire attacks.
Ability (Spell) List:
[1]Zero Shift- by manipulating sub-atomic particles called Gravitons, the user is capable of creating a dense spot in space-time, which eventually rips. This hole allows him to travel to higher dimensions. Since higher dimensions are not visible to creatures that can not control space-time, the user is able to effectively "disappear" and maneuver unseen, unheard, and untracked into a more favorable striking position. However, upon ripping the hole, it will close precisely 30 seconds after being created. The user has that amount of time to either find or create an exit, or he will trapped within a higher dimension indefinitely or until a way out can be found. The rift can be kept open by using string energy from atoms within the body, but this is an extremely draining process. Because the laws of physics within the third and fourth dimensions do not apply to higher dimensions, the user is capable of traveling in any direction desired before exiting. There is no limit to the distance one can travel in this place, as long as it can be reached in 45 seconds. This can lead to a Zero-shifting opponent coming up out of the ground under his target, or appearing high over-head and dropping onto his target like a bird of prey. Because a Mobiae has enveloped Tianku's consciousness, he has knowledge of this technique, but it is actually the Mobiae that is manipulating the Gravitons and giving him sight into the higher dimensions.
-1 Energy per Shift. 10 second casting time. Shifts can only be used in 15 second intervals. Sustaining a single Shift longer than the original 30 seconds will require an additional 2 energy per 10 seconds.
[1]Pocket Dimension- the Pocket Dimension is fundamentally the same as a Zero Shift, however, instead of simply collecting Gravitons in one spot until space-time rips, they are collected, and then moved in a ripple effect out to a certain radius. The radius extends in all directions, meaning that a sphere of isolated space-time is formed. The sphere will appear as snapshot of the instant it was created to those not inside it. But inside it there is another world, where Tianku is in control of all the forces that are. Essentially, Tianku is free to do as he pleases while in this space, and those who are in there with him restricted to whatever rules Tianku decides to create. The radius' maximum extent at present is 30 feet. The pocket dimension will last precisely 3 minutes from the instant it was created. At the end of this time, the Pocket Dimension begins to recede, and collapses in on itself, leaving Tianku and whoever else might have been inside back on the "outside." Keeping the Pocket open for more than 3 minutes is possible, but requires massive amounts of string energy to maintain.
-4 Energy per Pocket opened. 1 Minute casting time. Multiple pockets can be opened inside one another. (This will change the "snapshot" on the outside and re-new the time limit.) Sustaining a single pocket for more than the original three minutes will consume 2 energy per minute until the pocket collapses.
[1]Nuclear Decompression- the Mobiae manipulates the nuclear bonds between sub-atomic particles of a substance, harnessing the atomic energy released. At this point, the energy appears as a swirling infrared wave looping around Tianku, it is barely visible to those insensitive to energy currents. The energy can then be used for a variety of purposes such as: Shields, concussive waves for offense, or a controlled nuclear explosion. Or for excessive amounts of string energy, it can be converted into various types of waves, such as microwaves and radio waves.
Nuclear Shield: + 5 Endurance, -2 Energy per turn used. 1 minute required to gather necessary energy.
Nuclear Concussion: -1 Energy per volley of three. Energy cost may rise if waves are made stronger. 30 seconds required to gain necessary energy.
Nuclear Explosion/Containment: -10 Energy. This will leave him completely drained of all energy NOT required to sustain the Mobiae and his bodily functions. 5 minutes required to gain necessary energy.
[1]Elemental Manipulation- the Mobiae is able to manipulate atoms of the chemical elements and draw them out into a space where they can be configured into a form of his choosing. Various substances, mixtures, and alloys can be created near instantaneously using this method. These new substances can further be manipulated to his choosing at the additional cost of string energy. Things such as "Metal Cobras" have been documented by other Mobiae. The initial cost of string energy is low, but steadily increases as more atoms are gathered. Roughly 100 million atoms can be controlled per joule of string energy used.
Can only affect pure chemical elements. Things such as alloys can not be undone, however items or equipment, if made of only one chemical element can be deconstructed and reconfigured.
-1 Energy per element affected. Can only be used once every ten minutes.
Weapons/Gear: One 4.5 foot long Mobiae broadsword is Tianku’s weapon of choice. The actual blade is 3.3 feet in length and is serrated. It possesses a pommel and cross hilt, and has a constant width of 4 inches along the length of the blade. The blade is made of a Titanium-Aluminum alloy created by his Elemental Manipulation ability, making it extremely hard to break, yet relatively light when compared to the conventional Steel sword. The blade is counter-balanced making it a versatile weapon.
Xia Tianku’s armor typically consists of 4 layers. The first layer is nothing more than simple undergarments. The second is a lime-green Sage’s robe, with light yellow trim. The third layer is a system of connected leather and light chain-mail armor. It’s loose fitting, and therefore flexible. The fourth and final layer is a Titanium-Aluminum breast plate, tasset, and helmet. The front of the breast plate is convex, allowing most blows to bounce or slide off the sloping sides. The back is flat. The tasset is a nothing more than three jointed plates of alloy armor sewn together with Nickel-Chromium thread and placed on the waist, used to protect the hips and rear. The helmet is made of the same Titanium-Aluminum alloy and possesses a grayish colored flap of cloth along the back to help protect the back of the neck from the sun and a plume of horse hair dyed red. All fourth layer armor is tinted black and has red trim.
When worn all at once, the armor and weapon weigh 70 pounds.

Note: Further abilities will not be needed, or pursued by this character. Rather, he’ll seek to hone and perfect the four he already has until they can be used and chained together fluidly. That’s the purpose of the “levels” I’ve given them. Level denotes the current strength of the ability from 1 to 10; 1 being the base strength, and 10 being the zenith. The statistic “energy” will be referring to Tianku’s ability to harness and control strings; as the concept of “mana” has been disproved by the Mobiae.
@ Sword: Thanks for at least posting something up when I didn't think anyone would. This IS NOT COPY-PASTED, it is original. But if you want to get technical, it is, because I CP'd from MS Word, WHERE I WROTE IT (This always seems to happen to me. Go out of your way to write a respectable bio, and what fucking happens? People accuse you of plagiarizing. FFS).However, the name of the character is one I've used on a Romance of the Three Kingdoms site. Don't expect to see pocket dimension or elemental manipulation used much here unless it's in an event thread. Zero-Shifting and Nuclear Decompression though will be used ( (I probably won't be using the stronger aspects of ND, mostly just the occasional concussion wave). The reason I said Telekinetic spells are totally ineffective against him is because I wanted him to remain enigmatic. There really wouldn't be much of a story here for me to write if someone could read his mind with any success. Also, what's the word on this? Yea or Nay?
@ Sword 2: Ok, thanks for getting back to me on that. I've gotta say I am relieved to see the apology, and I must admit I kind of over-reacted. I want to say it was just a misunderstanding, but I'd like to offer an apology as well if I came off to be a mighty bit too indignant there. So besides time limit etc. it all looks good, right? The only real concern I have is that I don't feel like butchering it too much. So, I'll put a sort of "requirements" list for each ability in bold face underneath the description.
