[glow=blue,2,300][shadow=blue,left,300]Eyvindr Sorasuzu[/shadow][/glow]
Occupation
Telekinesis Apprentice
Nationality
Uncertain; most likely Japanese
Height
5’ 4”
Weight
145 lbs.
Age
17
Hair Color
Red-orange.
Eye Color
Brown with a gold tint.
Appearance
Eyvindr wears a light-blue tunic that goes to halfway down his thighs. Below that are close-fitting pants of a deeper color, and beneath that, plain sandals. Beneath the tunic is a long-sleeve shirt the same color as his pants. Around his waist, there is a leather belt that holds his equipment.
Eyvindr has a light build, and is overall a rather small person. His skin is fairly pale, as he never goes outside much.
Eyvindr's hair has a mind of its own. He gave up trying to control it long ago. This paired with its color can sometimes make it look like fire on a windy day. It is fairly long, and if it would ever lie flat, would go below shoulder level.
Personality
There is only one word to describe Eyvindr's personality: extreme. All of his emotions are much stronger than normal. This is partially because of isolation within himself for many years.
Eyvindr's social skills are worse than horrible. The only person he has ever "Talked" to is Randulfr (See History) and Randulfr's very close friends. He does not know sign language.
Other than these two facts, Eyvindr's almost doesn't have a constant personality. He isn't entirely selfish, and doesn't revel in the pain of others, but can be happy and cheerful one day and the angriest person you've met the next. Therefore, in other words, there are actually two words to describe Eyvindr's personality: Extreme and fickle.
History
In a small house in Japan lived a poor family. It had three members, the mother, father, and son, and was expecting a fourth in a few months. There was a problem, however. The fourth was coming. Now. The family was caught unprepared, and the mother died giving birth. The baby, however, seemed to be perfectly normal.
However, the mother had been previously dealing with most of the housework, which was now dumped on the father. The son had to make most of the money, almost all of which was dumped on the care for the new baby. They barely hung on for five years, when the second son was now old enough to help with the work.
Something, however, was wrong. The second son had never spoken. Nor had he ever reacted to sound. Nobody was entirely sure what to make of this. It finally dawned upon them what the problem was: The second son was entirely deaf. The son and father tried to cope. They couldn’t. Keeping him wasn’t an option, they would all starve if they did. Unable to think of what else to do, and a small bit out of spite for taking the mother away, they left the second son on the street either to fend for himself or to die.
The boy was lucky. Within a day, he stumbled upon the house of an old man who took him in and cared for him. He figured out the boy’s disability quickly enough, and revealed that he was a strong user of telekinesis and telepathy. The boy did not know any language, having never had or heard a conversation, or even a word, so his first proved to be rather difficult. Over the next year, the old man, whose name was Randulfr Sorasuzu, taught him how to communicate with people using telepathy. He then gave him a name. Eyvindr. It was a Norse name, yes, but Randulfr himself was half-Norse, and he considered Eyvindr his own. So why not give him a name from his lineage?
For eleven years, they lived almost as a normal family would.
Eventually, Randulfr realized something. He had always wanted an apprentice, yet had never found one. He taught Eyvindr the basics of telekinesis. He caught on quickly, and soon moved on to more advanced techniques. It soon dawned on Randulfr that he did not have all of the time in the world to complete training Eyvindr, and it soon became his most important goal. They worked all day, and rested only as much as was necessary to keep their training going full-speed. When Randulfr finally died a year later, his last words to Eyvindr were to complete his training elsewhere; specifically, an ‘Arcane Academy’. He gave directions, then lay down to sleep. He died within the hour.
After packing all the food and weapons he could and eating what he could not carry (The food, not weapons), Eyvindr set out for the described place. He found a portal to the Arctic Base. Following specifically the directions he had been given, he found himself in Babylos. He entered the Academy, to do what had been requested by Randulfr.
Style
Eyvindr uses telekinesis to manipulate various objects that he carries with him, namely needles and four “Dagger blades” (See Weapons/Gear). He is not limited to being able to move and manipulate his carried objects, but it is rare for him to find something else that he can actually lift and use. The most likely case would be a small rock. Eyvindr also has limited mind reading abilities, but rarely uses them in combat, if at all. He uses it mostly for communication.
The most common way for Eyvindr to use his needles is to throw them and alter the course for greater precision. It is possible for him to not alter the course at all, or to actually 'Throw' with telekinesis.
The Basic Stance
Standing with the legs shoulder-width apart, Eyvindr holds out his left hand with al four daggers sitting on it, perpendicular to his fingers. His right hand is in the right pouch, usually holding several needles to let fly at command.
"The Threat"
Used once an opponent has been knocked down, several needles are placed around the opponents body, making it extremely hard to roll around without skewering oneself, and equally difficult to simply move a limb across the ground. Either a dagger or several needles position themselves to hover over the throat. When this 'stance' is assumed, it is usually followed by a surrender from the opponent.
Strengths
Eyvindr, though he lacks his hearing, has sharper eyes than most in compensation. In addition, since his hearing is lost, so is any point in attempting to attack it in any way. Eyvindr is physically quick and quite mentally sharp, having had to practice using his mind much to become a powerful telekinesis user. Eyvindr's use of many weapons simultaneously also has a tendency to overwhelm opponents, as he can defend against two swords easily with two-three of his daggers, and still have two-one left over for offense immediately after, or even during, his block.
Eyvindr also overreacts to everything. Always. This can be considered a strength because he is very cautious, even if sometimes overly so, and is hit less often than he might because of it.
Weaknesses
Though being deaf does have advantages, it has its obvious glaring disadvantage that far outweighs the advantages: Eyvindr cannot detect an enemy by sound. If they are coming up behind him, no matter how noisily they do it, he won't be able to know they're there until he turns around, if he does. Even worse, since his other senses are "Jacked up" in his loss of hearing, he feels pain worse than most. This paired with his miserable ability to take blows is a sore combination indeed.
Eyvindr's physical endurance is not the only physical aspect of him that is untrained. He has strength as bad as his endurance, and his speed is nothing spectacular. In fact, physically, he is rather pathetic. His mind and his magic are all that he can rely on.
Eyvindr also overreacts to everything. Always. This can be considered a weakness, because panic is never good, and can cause him to have sluggish reactions, not think clearly, and, in extreme cases, loose the focus required for telekinesis.
Spell List
Crippling Pain (Minor)
Eyvindr throws needles at his opponent, then manipulates them to precisely slice the skin, but not cause a serious wound, almost like a paper cut, in a way that stings like crazy. When many such wounds are inflicted near simultaneously, the pain is extreme, and makes blunt attacks (Like a punch or kick) more effective if they land on a wounded area.
Usually, only half of these land as intended, the others either missing entirely or causing a more serious wound than intended.
Crippling Pain (Major)
Similar to the minor version, the major version of Crippling Pain uses the needles to inflict much pain on the enemy. The major version, however, is not so careful in trying to not seriously hurt the opponent. As opposed to causing many small ‘paper cuts’ with the needles, Eyvindr instead simply sends the needles straight through the opponent, in non-vital areas such as the limbs, or, in a serious fight, can also target vital areas such as he various organs in the torso, the eyes, and major blood vessels.
Defense Grid
Eyvindr grabs a fistful of needles and releases them above the attack, and manipulates them, making them come together in a tight grid, stopping anything that would not be able to go through a centimeter-wide hole or more or less solid metal. This means most blunt attacks, but very few magical ones. The size of the grid can vary.
Weapons/Gear
On his belt, Eyvindr has two pouches and four mini-sheathes. In each pouch is roughly 100 inch-long, millimeter-thick steel needles, usually all facing the same way so that Eyvindr doesn't skewer his hand multiple times while trying to reach in. In the four little pockets are what appear to be a dagger without a handle, maybe a bit longer, with both ends pointy and both sides sharp. These are a little over 8" long, around 0.7" wide, iron, have a small groove in the flat, and have fading enchantments on them to increase their durability. The enchantments will die fully in a year.
