Appearance:
Cirkel
This is basically Cirkel’s appearance in anime form. He has messy, medium-length hair, piercing grey eyes, and strangely sharp but soft features. His skin is fairly pale, but not ghost-like. He just seems to need some sunlight, is all. He’s fairly well-toned, even if he’s not weightlifter-build, and can almost always be seen with a smile.
Clothing-wise he is most commonly in whites and blues, as those seem to fit him the best. Clothing also seems to be very relaxed, as he only wants to dress formal in those particular situations.
Personality: Cirkel is almost the epitome of optimist. He seems to see the point in everything he does, and even when he’s miserable, you could never tell, because he never seems different. He’s friendly, for sure, and likes to stay away from eccentricity. He’ll make sure you hear what you want to hear, and he’s always there if you need him. However, his motives for the way he lives his life is a bit of a mystery.
History:
Cirkel was a laboratory baby, born in a true human mother, but not given the most usual child hood. It did, really, all start about three months before he was born. His mother and father were two Arch-mage level mages, and he was soon to be their first child. They had plans to send him to arcane academy when he was old enough to make the choice, and until then they would teach him magic as they had learned it. He seemed almost destined to be a natural born mage, but someone else decided otherwise.
A man by the name of Julias Veronn headed the experiments. He was charged with capture of the two mages, a job he completed within acceptability. They were unharmed, but more importantly, the baby was healthy. As it was, after thirty long decades of experimentation with their new virus, they had come upon the truth of magic folk. This lead them to the idea that if these people could contain such a power as magic, they should logically be able to contain a strong chemical agent. There were many experiments with over thirty high-class mages, and from observing their reaction each time, it was seen that they needed a new generation. A baby.
The virus itself entered the body and spread rapidly, infecting every cell and every strand of DNA. It would modify everything in the human body to give more strength: more power. However, humans weren’t designed for this kind of modification. They couldn’t take it, and all died within the minute. The mages were dramatically less resistant, the longest time between installment and death being 4 hours. However, the mage was completely useless for the last hour, having only enough life force left for vitals. He couldn’t even speak before he died. But, a baby had next to no resistance. They had very little consciousness, and when it was taken one step further and the virus was installed before birth, it could be put it with no trouble. That was where Cirkel came in.
The son of two powerful mages, he was almost guaranteed to be a success. But, there was also the possibility. After all, they had never tested this before. What if the two factors didn’t balance out the virus as they had hoped? They would be back to square one, and certainly they wouldn’t be able to gain funding. Yes, this was truly their most important test.
Cirkel’s mother and father, or “The Syks”, were kept in a house inside the laboratory. It was only possible to exit through the front door, as there were no windows, and the entire house was plated with metal sheets outside. Their magic was sealed through a large symbol on each of their backs, and thus, all they could do was wait for the scientists to come. They soon did, after having to modify the virus slightly to fit it’s... young host. Cirkel’s virus was installed, and all vitals were good, until he was born.
No heartbeat, no brain activity, he was simply a body with no mind. A failure, and his mother and father would be killed. The scientists let their heads fall, unable to try and restart that small body, for surely even if the heart were to start ad the brain become active, that body was much too weak. Their theory was scrap: there was no hope. Julias found himself with knees on the floor in defeat as his hands rested on the cold steel work table. All of those years of work, three decades of his life wasted, and for what? A mass of flesh on a work table. He could feel the blood draining from his face, seeing only that tile floor and hearing only that howling, as if echoing. He heard wolves mocking him, as they were so high atop the hill howling away at the moon, when he was simply a failure in these slums of his life.
“Sir!”
“Leave me be...”
“But sir! The child!”
He looked up quickly with eyes wide, and suddenly that howling solidified. Not wolves... life. They had life! They had success!
Cirkel was stabilized and monitored constantly. The check-ups became less and less often, and the procedures changed as he was seen for what he could do with the virus. They were disgusted with him for a time. The virus was in his system, though besides being a very reflexive child, he showed no superhuman talents. At least, not until the first casualty. Cirkel had been playing, still being monitored in his false setting of a large park, green grass, slides, swings, a fairly typical setting. A staff came to check on him, and saw that Cirkel began to speak, looking up to the monkey bars as his apparent conversational other. The staff continued with his routine check-ups, dismissing it as typical, a little boy with an imaginary friend: fair enough. And then suddenly he clutched his chest, falling to the ground. Cirkel burst into tears as the other staff came in. According to him he was just “talking to the warm people”. This eventually began to morph. As he learned more and more, so did they, beginning to see the effects of just what he could do.
By adding it all up, they eventually found the answer. He was so different as to what they had expected. A weapon in such a different way, he had the virus in such a different way. He could... control it. So marvellous. Yes, that was the word for it... marvellous. His magic allowed him power over the virus, and he even changed it to fit himself. Something they had never even wanted had given them so much more than they could have ever dreamed. They didn’t have a powerful new soldier, they had something quite a bit more valuable. They had a mage. They had created a mage.
Cirkel was trained constantly, most commonly just for hand-to-hand combat. Though they had some mages working with them before, all of them were unable to really teach Cirkel, as no one was completely sure what he could do magic-wise. Even Cirkel wasn’t all that sure. And then they found the academy. It seemed Cirkel’s father had come in much more useful than originally presumed. No mages they had employed had even been to the academy, so he was their last resort. Just simple threats of his already dead wife and he let the secrets of the academy right out. Cirkel, over his fourteen years of life, had only scratched the surface of the virus’ capabilities. Maybe the academy would be able to help him learn. And just like that, they were there.
One seemingly experienced tracer--as Cirkel was walking along the sidewalk of one of London’s many streets--approached him in the night with the proposition of joining the academy. Seals had kept his existence secret until now, and certainly it made sense they would jump all over the opportunity to find one like himself with at least some experience in magic. Within the end of the week, he was gone, entering Arcane Academy as a new student, but still as a human experiment.
Style
VIRAL MAGIC: Viral magic is the use of magic through assistance of a virus installed into the user’s body. The virus, at least in Cirkel’s case, isn’t reactive to emotion, so no matter how he feels, there’s virtually no risk of his magic going off. All the virus does is act as a catalyst. In that respect, it could almost be seen as how a regular mage would use a wand or any other artifact to channel his energy.
Cirkel’s virus has infected every cell of his body, changing his DNA the very slightest. However, that’s what the virus was expected to do. Cirkel’s difference is that this virus has changed his cells in such a way that it reacts to his energy. When he releases an amount of energy into his cells, it sets of a sort of magical beacon for anything of the spiritual realm. Over time, Cirkel has been able to control this so that specific spirits are called to him. What he does with the spirits is becoming a topic of Cirkel that is slowly branching out, though it does all centre around beaconing. He’s not really a shaman, and can’t even see spirits that well. For this reason, he tends to use spirits in their more raw energy forms. Note that Cirkel isn’t very well educated in his power, as it hasn’t been seen by anyone else as far as his information goes.
Strengths:
Cirkel’s greatest strength is most probably in his mind. He might not be the most intelligent guy, but in battle, he has focus very few can match. He’s got a good eye for fighting, and a good body for moving. His skills also give him a bit of surprise factor with his small stature, cause you don;t expect a punch from him to really hurt too much.
Weaknesses:
Cirkel doesn’t have strength, even if he does have impact, which makes him bad in grappling/wrestling fighting. His small stature also doesn’t provide him with the most intimidating look, nor does it give him striking advantage. As well, he has very little ranged ability, and does need to keep in mind that his skills are within time constraints, which could prove disastrous if say his shield gave out as someone sent a fire ball for him.
Spell List:
Call Spirit: What Cirkel’s entire style revolves around. Without this, nothing would happen. By charging his cells with energy, the virus in his cells reacts by sending out a beacon to spiritual beings. This has been refined over the years so Cirkel can call specific spirits, though with little experience in shamanism, this doesn’t really help him.
Refine Spirit: After the spirit is drawn to Cirkel, it’s literally filtered into whatever cells he has selected so that only the energy of the spirit remains. This is used in various ways, though a spirit must be sacrificed each time. Their consciousness is destroyed through refinement so that only energy remains. Note that an entire spirit must be refined, not just a part of it.
Viral Explosion: Easily the most raw form of Cirkel’s style, he focuses the spirit’s energy into a plucked hair or blood from a prick in his finger or something of that nature. Once the energy is focussed, it is released in an explosion of energy, dependant on the power of the spirit refined, size of what was exploded (more energy spaced differently), and several other factors. Note that Cirkel doesn’t have to be in contact with the item in order for him to set it off. Also, there is a time limit on how long the energy will stay pulled to the item, once again dependant on factors of size and spiritual strength. If the energy is not released within the time limit, it will dissipate, as the virus can no longer hold it. Also note that the item isn’t destroyed unless it is releasing an incredibly high amount of energy.
Viral Shield: Usually focussed to Cirkel’s hand, in it’s biggest form it can envelop his entire body. As the name implies, Cirkel refines the spirit into energy and absorbs it into certain cells. He keeps a steady release of the energy, and the size of the shield is changed by how quickly he releases the energy. For this there is also a time limit before Cirkel will need to call and refine another spirit.
Viral Impact: Used when the battle gets hand-to-hand, Cirkel once again focuses refined spiritual energy into his hands. This time, he releases it very quickly. On impact, in-fact. This can be caused up to the power of a landmine, and far beyond if one was willing to expend large amounts of energy. However, Cirkel doesn’t like going that far. Shock on his own self isn’t enough less that his hand wouldn’t be a little bit busted if he put a large amount of power into it, so naturally he does want to keep this in reasonable conditions for his opponent.
Forcing: One would assume this doesn’t have a great deal of effect on magical folk, though cirkel has killed regular mortals before with this technique. It does as the name says, forcing refined spirits into one’s body. This does physical damage in that regular human beings aren’t built to be able to take any form of magical energy, which is essentially what’s being pumped into them. Some are more resistant to this than others, though Cirkel’s theory is that magic folk will be relatively unharmed by this as they already have the ability to hold mana.
Basic Aid: Only usable on Cirkel, and completely out of his control. The virus, as far as it can to protect it’s own life, will regenerate small cuts and bruises quickly. This has little to no effect on larger injuries like a gunshot wound or broken arm, though it can relieve a bit of the pain for those things.
Weapons/Gear:
One 1 and a half inch needle kept somewhere on Cirkel at all times. Used only for pricking his fingers for certain skills, almost never for combat itself.
