The two of you met up in a tavern, hearing of the caravan. YOu decided to team up. You follow a path into the mountains,t he same one the caravan took. After a while, you see mountains of either side of you. You run into a fork in the road.

Xeryth had been at the Academy for a while now, but had yet to step out of his shell, so to speak, and make himself known to the other students. This did not go unnoticed, however, by the heads of the school, who seemed to be intent on speeding along the young student's socialization. Waking up one morning, Xeryth checked his mail to see an important letter awaiting him. His eyes widening in shock as he read, it seemed that he was being assigned to go investigate a missing caravan, alongside another student named Onira.
He had seen this student in Dark Arts class, but truly only knew him by name and face. Thus, upon meeting him in the tavern and heading out along the path, he did his best to converse. Of course, for Xeryth, conversing was almost as hard moving objects with the mind was to anyone else.
"Umm... hello there..." he said quietly. "It seems we are to be working together... Onira. What... what do you think happened to the caravan?"
Following the answer, he woudl be silent until they reached the road's fork. The mountains to either side suggested they were in the general area of the caravan's disappearance. However, this brought about the important question, which he posed to Onira.
"What do you think? Left... or right?"

Onira was probably the worst match for Xeryth. Xeryth was quiet, Onira was... social. Xeryth kept to himself, Onira wasn't afraid in the least to let people know how he felt. However, in the end, it worked, because Onira was the kind who could mold to what was needed. He was good at comforting people, a talent he expressed often.
Onira opened the mail, seeing he had recieved a mission of all things. Intriguing, but manageable. He had never really seen all that much of the outside world, so it was a nice trip.
"It would seem so. And, when it comes to the caravan, well, I'm really not sure. However, I have a feeling there's going to be a monster for us to face. Fun huh?"
Onira smiled, but received no answer. The two just left for the fork in the road, Onira whistling the whole way. A tune he was quite common with. His master whistled it a lot, and Onira had adopted it as his own.
"Well, I guess we've got two options. Right and left. Right tends to be a good choice, and the world has even adopted it as it's main arm. Might as well give it a shot!"
Onira then continued down the right, whistling his tune. He really did like that tune.

ooc- I will assume you both go right.
ic- After a while of traveling, you come across some wreckage. A wagon wheel is laying against one of the mountain walls, three arrows stuck in it. Ahead, you see an overturned wagon with two small creatures rummaging through it.
They appear to be 4'6 and have small clubs.

Onira took the lead, as Xeryth had expected. Xeryth himself was not one for leading anything ever, so he was glad that this Onira had moved on and decided to make the decisions for him. Thus, when Onira took the left, Xeryth followed closely behind, remarking quietly as he did so.
"There is always something to be said for 'the road less traveled', but it's not a decision a caravan would make, one would think..."
This was a quiet utterance meant mostly for Xeryth's own benefit, and thus, a response was not needed, and not expected. It was not long at all before the duo came to the caravan, or rather, the wreckage of what was once a wagon. Nearby were two creatures, smaller than an average man, rummaging through it, no doubt scavenging for supplies. Quietly, under the audibility, hopefully, of the two creatures, Xeryth spoke to Onira.
"What are those things? Somehow, I doubt they'll listen to diplomacy..."

Onira thought of laughing slightly at this remark, but decided against it. He figured the monsters weren't too friendly when they came upon intruders. However, although they were small, and weak by the looks of it, they were also probably fast as all hell. However, what would they do when fighting against an alchemist, especially one as used to weapons as Onira? Not to mention that, although Onira didn't know it yet, Xeryth had a good psychic background, and may be able to provide some form of cover. Hopefully.
The blond-haired male placed his right hand on the rocky ground, getting ready to use the transmutation circle tattoed onto his palm.
"I hope you're ready for this Xeryth."
Without even waiting for an answer, Onira activated the circle, drawing out a spear made of strong rock. After this, Onira charged forward, hoping that Xeryth had some form of long range attack, and would provide some cover. Onira had a feeling he'd need it.
A swift spin and Onira sent the side of the end blade of the spear down to one of the creatures, hoping that the element of surprise was still there. And that the spin had added enough extra force to the attack.

Your attack catches the creatures by surprise. Your spear pierces the goblin's neck, pinning it to the ground. The other one screams and runs away, shouting in a language you do not know.

"Not... so fast..."
Xeryth closed his eyes and concentrated. He imagined the area in front of the running creature becoming solid, but only the area directly in front of him. The air before the creature shimmered for a moment, and the creature would run face-first into an invisible wall. Hoping that would stun the creature for a moment, Xeryth then envisioned the club loosened from the creature's grip, thanks to the initial stun from running into the wall. Lifting it with his mind, Xeryth envisioned the club crashing down into the creature's head. This would hopefully stun him, if not knock him out altogether. To ensure a victory, Xeryth called to Onira as well.
"He's stunned, can you finish him off??"

Onira's spear pierced the creature. Onira looked just in time to see the one that tried to run away getting hit by an invisible wall. A small laugh escaped him. As the creature lay stunned, his club was removed. Maybe the quiet kid really did have some talent. Good. However, something threw Onira off. he had to decide whether the creature lived or died. He only killed the other one because he knew it was vital to the mission. However, this one had been pretty much captured, and the damage was done. The mission was already a success. Why kill another being. However, Onira knew the creature had to be killed. So be it.
The young man placed his hands against the ground. Automatically a light came from the source, and a cage of stone captured the creature. However, on the insed of the cage was blades.
"It must be done."
With these words, the cage collapsed inward, the blades creating a net pattern going downward and slicing the creature, killing him instantly. Onira then stood back up straight, holding the spear in his hand, just incase anythign else appaeared. However, he decided that the cart had been found, and that they could go home.
"I guess we can get out of here."

Xeryth winced as Onira destroyed the creature, locking him in a cage of blades. It bothered Xeryth a bit, that it was his first real experience with other-worldly creatures such as this, and he had helped destroy them both. It appeared as if it was vital to the mission, however, so he tried not to think about it as Onira came back, declaring the mission to be seemingly finished. Xeryth, however, was not so sure.
"I... I don't know..." he began meekly. Onira had made himself out to be the leader of the operation, and thus had a very hard time trying to go against the words of the leader. It needed to be said, so he forced himself to say it anyway. "This seemed... a bit too easy. I... I don't think those two creatures did all that. After all... the wheel over there..." Xeryth raised a hesitant hand pointed to the wagon wheel, "has arrows in it. Those creatures had no such weapon..."
Xeryth fell silent a moment, unsure whether to continue or not. What if he's mad at me for saying this?
"I... I think we should check the wagon... maybe for survivors... or at the very least a clue..."
Xeryth trembled a bit as he spoke, he did not want to anger Onira, but at the same time, he also felt that there was more going on than just what they had seen so far.

Those words hit Onira hard, almost as if he just been hit by a train. Why? Because, he had neglected the wheel with he arrows, and it was either the defenders of the wagon, or more attackers. Onira couldn't be sure, but there was another matter at hand. Survivors. What if there were men hiding in there. It would make sense. Maybe that was the reason for the monster attack. Maybe they were the end result. Scavenging for remains of whatever they could find. Might as well look.
"Come here Xeryth, these doors look shut, hard. I don't want to waste anymore energy either."
Onira walked a few steps to the wagon, soon standing on it, the doors exposed in the wreckage. He could see now that the attack was much more vicious than expected. This just from the frayed and broken wood lying on the side.
"I'd be surprised if anyone survived this attack."
The young man kneeled down, resting on one knee. He then took the spear he was still holding and shoved it into a crack on the roof.
"Thank god for an easy entrance."
Onira then jumped up, pressing his knees against the shaft of the spear, throwing his body into the movement, and creating a large hole in the roof/side of the wagon. He then looked to Xeryth with a grin.
"Gotta be faster than that."
