"Afternoon Jacqueline." the Lt. Col. said as he flashed his badge to the guard at the door to the research facility. She of course was not the only one standing guard, snipers and trained psy ops were stationed around the building because no chances were to be taken.
"Lt. always a pleasure, please go on in." she said as she slid her card through the slot entering the code that changed daily.
With a presurized hiss the door slid open and the automatic lights came on. The room was soundproof and darkened no one was in or out without passing at least five check points. And even inside there were..
or was special cameras that worked through almost any kind of attack. Minus a psionic one. And that was what it looked like. As the door closed and locked behind the Lt. he noticed immediatly something was wrong. First off the lasers hadn't scanned him to match his body type with the file, and secondly the camera was just hanging loose from the center of the ceiling.
But even more important than any of those was the fact that the Mana Cannon was indeed missing. Quickly using his hand he punched through the glass that hid the sensor to the alarm. Red lights and the computer sensors came on tracking the cannon. It was a back up program. It was already tracked and all they needed was a rescue team.
Flicking open his cell phone he dialed up the backup troups. Arcane Academy.
****
The announcement had been made. Four students from the Arcane Academy were needed to assist D13 in a special mission to retrive stolen equipment. The Mana Cannon was gone and if not retrieved not only would years of research and a powerful weapon was out on the loose. One that could damage much of the world with little effort from the user. They had screwed up majorly.

Illithid C'tluynasn _____________ _____________ _____________
--------- Illithid had been studying these human creatures. They were a very social race but they were divided by race and country of origin. Illithid was finding himself unable to decipher why they were so divided and fractured but then he realized that the reason why they were fractured was the reason why the V'shraneez were so united. The V'shraneez had eliminated almost all differences between each other. They were so alike that it was impossible for two V'shraneez to identify themselves as anything but V'shraneez. There were no variations, no different races of V'shraneez. That was why they were able to remain untied and conquer their plane.
Then there was an announcement. Illithid cocked his head curiously, his tentacled mouth swishing slightly as he listened. Apparently some technology had been stolen and those who attended the Academy were required to help retrieve it. Illithid chuckled inwardly, it would be an interesting opportunity to observe what humans considered advanced technology.
He glided almost ghost-like into the teleporter room. Illithid removed his cloak to reveal the battle armor he wore underneath. Both of his legs gently contacted the ground and he stood, watching those in the room curiosly.
I am Illithid and I have come to participate in this mission of yours, he told them as he stood silently watching and waiting to see what would happen next.

Illithid Kheldar _____________ _____________
Kheldar signing in.
==============================================
The alert and announcement came as Kheldar was already wearing his equipment having just been about to head outside to check on some equipment. Kheldar had become more interested and active lately in other things thanks to the friendly corruption of Phae and Jade both of which he had learned things from. He wanted to do his part now to sort of give thanks to the Academy for the life that they had so freely given him. Kheldar instead headed to the teleporters as the announcement directed his boots making the dull thuds as they hit the ground. Steel-toed boots were a wonder to have. Kheldar was wearing a couple messenger bags and a few packs in fact his clothes were more combat suited. He was actually wearing a modified pilot suit with no helmet.
"Kheldar reporting."
What the hell is going on...
Didn't we bail out D-13 already?
Blegh...
Maybe I'll get something worthwhile...

Illithid Kheldar Karisni Falken _______
-------------------------------------------------------------------
One of those mission things had come up, and apparently there were students needed. Karisni felt that he might as well go, to see what else was out there. Yeah, odd reason, but it was Karisni doing the thinking... As he walked for the teleporter room, he wondered exactly what he'd need to do. It certainly wouldn't be like those 'missions' he did back in his native realm. Those were to go to Earth to cause chaos. He was supposed to be on Earth's side this time. And he would have a particular assignment this time too. Maybe it was to save some princess, or stop a nuclear war. Maybe he had read one to many comic books instead of trying to really learn what Earth was like. Nah.
When he did get to the room, the door was closing on him! So taking a needed two step towards the droor, Karisni leapt at the door, with his hands outstretched. He reached the door right as it closed and fully rammed his head into the thing.
"Damnit... Works in those movies... Geeze..."
Looking at the fine crack beneath the door, Karisni could see feet, and the rest of the room's bottom two inches. That's when his body dissappeared, only to shortly re-appear just on the other side of the door. Those door things were really pesky. Why couldn't they just be ripped off?
"Gah! Annoying things! I should just tear them all down..." He muttered, glaring at the door with murderous intent.

Illithid Kheldar Karisni Falken Nils Nilsson ____________________________________________________
Nils had been sitting in his room reading another book about anatomy when he heard about the D-13 mission. It sounded like there would be a great risk and it also sounded like there could be some room for fire and at least minor destruction of some villains property. That would tip lots of people of but for him it just seemed fun.
He got up from his bed and got dressed so that he'd be ready if there would be a fight. That didn't mean any armor or any heavy weapons. He just put on a jacket and moved his dagger to a more reachable place. Of course he couldn't leave his explosives at home either. So he packed a few grenades, a couple of mines, some bombs, a few meters of explosive wire and a bunch simple dynamite in a backpack. Now that he was prepared he walked over to the teleporters. At first there were some other persons in his way but now he had decided to get in. He solved the problem by throwing a grenade into the crowd and watched them trample each other to get away. Then he simply walked over and put it back into his backpack before walking into the teleporter with a big smile on his face laughing while saying:
"Hi, I heard of the mission. Mind if I join in?"

On the desk in the room with the teleporters sat none other than one Isis Stone. A smile on her face and her body displayed in that truly sexy fashion that could have any man drooling and having sweet wet dreams at night. Yes, Isis knew what power her body held over the opposite sex and she enjoyed using it.
The first to arrive had tenticles hanging from his mouth. A creature she had honestly never seen before but she only smiled and nodded at his mental communication. She was open to that, it didn't matter how you communicated she could handle it regardless and mental sometimes made it easier and more fun.
The next person to arrive was a short blonde headed boy. Kheldar she thought his name was having seen him and heard of his armor around the campus. She smiled at the boy giving him one of those 'see me after class' winks as her eyes shifted to the door once more.
Following the boy came another individual who got his head caught in the door. She chuckled and hid her smile behind the back of her hand for a moment as they awaited their final member.
A boy and his grenade explosion entered the room and she smiled. Her long red tresses hanging around her perfect body the one boys dreamed of but rarely saw and never did they get a chance to touch. But she was not here to torture her students.. yet. She was here to inform them of their mission.
"Gentlemen," she began with a soothing a sexy voice taking a breath her bust strained against the ribbon ties of the corsette. "You have all answered the cry for help that D13 has once again sent our way. Let me explain the situation."
She snapped her fingers and a projection screen came down from the ceiling. A slide show started and Isis began to speak describing the slides.
"This first slide, is what you are set to retrieve. As you can see it is a weapon of sorts, mainly looks like a grenade or rocket launcher it is in fact a mana consuming device. It was designed to evacuate mana from an area or person effectively killing it. This was top secret, not even the academy knew of its development. Said to have been created by the now deceased Dr. Richard Albert Moore." she said. She flipped slides and there was a balding man smiling back at them.
"That would be Dr. Moore. His life was spent developing this weapon. He was 61 when he died and no it was not of natural causes. This man here.." she said flipping slides to show a rather gangly dark looking youth with long greesey black hair and black eyes.
"Is Bartholomew Tate. He is the one that murdered the kind doctor trying to steal the mana device and the plans for it. However, a silent alarm was tripped that night and he was captured. Sadly, after the disappearance of the mana cannon it was discovered that Tate had escaped. He is prime suspect number one."
The slide show ended and a topographical map came up between the students and Isis. She looked over the team and then looked down at the map. It was the German countryside. A lot of small villages and what not around for hiding in.
"We believe through a well placed tracking device on the cannon its self that the man and the device are here." she said and a red dot began blinking over a small village. "You are charged with one bringing the mana cannon back without using it or destroying it. Two if you can you are to annhiliate Tate and make sure he cannot has us problems again. Yes, you will be killing someone, if you can. So if you have any qualms I suggest you leave now. If not the portal is open. It will take you to just outside the village. Good luck Gentlemen."

Illithid watched with a bored, detached sense of curiosity as his teammates entered the briefing room one by one. First there was a boy in what Illithid believed was some sort of combat suit, it did not look like it would protect him much. Then again he was used to the advanced battle suit technologies of the V'shraneez. His hand absentmindedly drifted down to the hilt device that was strapped to his side and connected to his back by a tube which split into several smaller tubes that connected to him along his spine up to his brain stem. Illithid wondered how much resistance that combat suit of his would put up against his psi-blade.
The next to enter was the inhuman that Illithid had encountered earlier. He, as of yet, had not been able to determine what kind of creature he was. Illithid watched with mild curiosity as he tried to get through the door before it closed but failed. Then the creature teleported through the door. Illithid wondered if his method of transportation involved planeswalking as his own did.
The last to enter was boy who threw some sort of spherical device into the room before he entered. Whatever it was the other humans in the room scrambled away from it as quickly as they could. Illithid could only surmise that it was some sort of device designed to cause pain. He was about to float the device to himself and inspect it when the boy picked up, laughing. Apparently it had been some sort of joke, Illithid was having a bit of trouble understanding the human concept of humor.
After they had all been assembled a human female informed them of their mission. From what he had been able to gather she would be considered quite attractive by human standards. To Illithid, however, she was repulsive as were all humans. Illithid listened with mild interest, apparently a human weapon of potential danger had been stolen. They were to retrieve it and kill the human responsible. Illithid's tentacles wiggled slightly as he chuckled, he would have no problem doing that, in fact he welcomed the opportunity to study human anatomy up close and personal.
This should be an interesting experience. You will have your mana cannon back. Though I will have to research what this thing you call "mana" is, he said, broadcasting to everyone in the room. His voice, as usual was monotone and the syllables he stressed and the pauses he took were strangely timed, I trust my own planeswalking abilities more than your teleportation technology, he said as a rift of time and space opened up behind him. The rift then moved forward and enclosed around him, transporting him to the destination. It vanished with a faintly audible pop. Illithid wondered what these human enemies would think of him as he stepped out into the German village.

Ok, this was a strange group that had assembeled. First of all it was some guy in weird looking armor and tentacles hanging from his mouth. Nils couldn't help but wonder how it all worked together. He only came to the conclusion that it worked no more or less than normal arms placed at a bad place.
Then it was this other strange creature. Nils couldn't help but think that even if he wasn't as bad as that octopus-face he looked pretty strange to. Strangely enough it was something familiar with him that Nils couldn't really place his finger on. He decided to try finding out later. Now he had more important stuff to do.
The last member of the group looked human. That made Nils a bit happier, he didn't think he'd managed if it was another weird guy with tentacles or wings or even a tail. But this one was human. With an outfit that looked like some kind of homemade armor. With some luck he enjoyed fireworks to.
Soon after he entered he heard a voice. A female voice that sounded pretty attractive. Of course he turned his head and looked at the woman that was sitting in there. She definitley was attractive and Nils might have asked her out or something if he had thought that he had a chance. But now he had even more important things to think of so a glance at her body was all that he gave himself before consentrating on the briefing. He became a little sad when he hurd that the weapon was a manaburning device. Not much fun at all since he had been hoping for some kind of real explosives. Then he'd asked for the blueprints. Anyway it seemed like they were supposed to kill some guy. Nils usually didn't kill someone who hadn't pissed him of personaly but he decided that since this was a mission he'd make an exception. He'd just kill him fast instead of slowly.
I wonder how many pieces I can blow him into?
Then he heard a voice in his head and it took him a while to understand that it came from that tentacle guy. Then a rift opened behind him and swallowing him. Since he had been talking about planewalking Nils understood what he was doing. It made him a bit angry and he played wiith the thought of giving the tentacle guy a 'gift' as he left. He decided not to.
"Hey, that's cheating. What if he hoggs all the fun? Can we also go now so he doesn't?"

Isis Stone. Oh yes Kheldar had heard of this woman the whispers through the campus very descriptive words that had been going around. Some called her a succubus in disguise but, Kheldar figured her to just be a very tempting woman. Very tempting indeed judging from the way her body just ached to be caressed and she only encouraged it much to his annoyance. Still this was the so-called Temptress of the Dark Arts that one student had called her after surviving a parcticular class. He almost gave a smile at it as he studied the others. Nils was too loud, Illithid was an asshole, and the other was a nutcase. Great just what Kheldar needed the perfect group to commit suicide with.
"I say just have patience in case Isis gives more on the briefing. Patience and gathering information are the keys to winning a fight later on," Kheldar said softly as he turned his attention to Isis.
That wink worries me...
It's the kind that makes me want to say yes and yet at the same time be verrryyy verrryyy worried.
I think Winklewood would be safer...
I have no qualms with shooting him...

As the boys that were in the room listened, Isis watched their reaction. Two of them checked her out. One left already and she chuckled. That boy would prove to regret rushing out of the room. She couldn't help but smile. Though he had been from a different plane that didn't mean he couldn't use the help if he would take it from a human anyway.
She stepped forward. Three students remained and the first was Nils. Stepping up to him her corsette straining against her massive bust as she winked at her with her right blue crystalline eye. She leaned down and kissed his neck ever so gently running her right hand's middle finger down his chest.
"Nils, darling. Be safe and be careful." she said pulling back she placed a black case into his hand. It was a small case almost a travel case for a toothbrush and shaving kit. However, that was not what this held.
Moving over to the next boy. The young blonde who she had heard spent his time reading romance novels and probably wishing to act them out on the female population. She smiled at him and tucked his blonde hair behind his ears before she tilted his head up and kissed him soundly on the lips. The kiss didn't last long but it was long enough to send the poor boy into hyperventillation.
"Kheldar, watch out for yourself." Another black case was placed in his hands as well. The same exact kind as the one that she had given Nils.
And one last member remained. Karsini. To him she kissed on the forehead before placing a case in his hand looking him in the eyes she gave him a very seductive wink before moving on.
"Now, in your cases are provisions that will help you stay alive when faced with the mana cannon. Do not underestimate the enemy. Do not underestimate the fact that he will use the cannon against you. If you lose mana you will faint and soon you will die when he drains the dregs of your powers away. So be careful. And I wish you luck. You may head through the portal now."
Case Contains: 2 mana inahlers -can be used twice each and will give you half your mana back. If used twice in consession it will give you full mana but then is useless.
1 Healing Salve -can be used only once heals minor to intermediate injuries.
1 Hall Pass -a ticket to visit yours truly in her office after class.

Mana absorption was probably the most annying thing in the world. After all, Karisni was nothing but mana in a human husk. Excatly what would happen if he were to be absorbed into the cannon was completly unpredictable. As chaotic as mana was in the first place, when it was turned into an embodiment of chaos, who knew what could happen. Overall, this sounded a little over his head. After all, he caused chaos, but he wasn't some hero. They had to many laws to abide to anyway.
And then there was Mr. Squid with the love for japanese schoolgirls. Sure, it was really just a big error in the telepathy to twisted mind conversion, but none the less, it seemed appropriate somehow. That thing was determined to do it's own thing. He was wierd, too bound by his own self-made laws. He needed to cut loose sometime... Two humans, one who had come very interested in the prank Karisni had pulled involving the courtyard. A whole wide open area devoid of pants. It had been a beautiful sight from a chaotic standpoint. Thought it had been a bit of a stretch because of his telekinetic limitations. The other human was uninteresting. Uptight. Oh well. And Mrs. or Ms. whoever she was was weird, but in a fun way, unlike Mr. Squidface. Come to think of it, Squiddy looked familiar, maybe he was one of those mind-eater things he had read a little about. They looked kinda like him.
'She' gave 'him' a kiss to the forehead and a case. From what he remembered, kissing the forehead was what you did to pets. Kind of condescending, considering some sorcerers thought his kind made good 'familiars'. Of course, familiar was code for blood-bound slave, sold out by the damned pit demons. Regardless, since he was 'human', he pretended it wasn't an insult, and more of a sign of that affection stuff humans talked about. But the case in his hands was much more interesting. It had two things that reminded him of those groin-protection objects, cups. They had a weird design though from the standard white plastic thing. He'd have to ask what the things were for. And there was some sort of drink, though not much of it. Kinda useless. And a hallpass.
Sweet, free ticket to get out of class and pull off some more pranks or something. Hooray.
"That's it? Okay then..." Karisni shrugged and went to the door again. He had to look under it again so he could teleport himself around it and finally get to the teleporter room. Getting a funnly little idea, he melded his body into the wall next to the teleporter room, as soon a those other two came out, he'd jump out at them, just to see their faces when they were surprised. Yeah, to a guy like him, there was no bad time for tricks.

Nils got quite a suprised when she kissed his neck, that was definitley unexpected. When she continued he checked the bag while he thought about why the heck she'd done that. Not to mension what she'd told him.
I mean, really. Who the heck says 'darling' to someone they've just met? Especially when they only met to work for each other. Well, at least now I'm sure she's trying to make us do something stupid. I'm sure of it.
When he had checked through the case he was even more sure about it since he'd seen that ticket. He decided to sell it to someone later. The other stuff in the bag wasn't of much use to him either. Well, maybe the mana inhalers. He rarelly cared about his wounds, he cared more about returning the pain to those who inflicted wounds on him.
Then he closed the case and stood there. Waiting impatiently to get an order to finally leave. Couldn't she just have throw them a case each and sent them of? Why did she have to try and seduce everybody? Seriously, she even tried with the imp!

Illithid's eyes black and pupilless eyes scanned over the village. It seemed a simple enough example of human civilization. It was also, even by human standards, very low tech and rural. He watched with detached interest as the villagers went about their business, they did not seem to be aware of his presence as of yet. A small wheezing chuckle sounded from him as he wondered what exactly they would do once they actually noticed him.
His feet rose off the ground a few inches as he floated forward into the village. Illithid kept extremely alert, his eyes darting around the area from time to time to check for anything that seemed suspicious. He was on a mission and this Bartholomew Tate was apparently a very dangerous human. He would be very interested to test the limits of this human and see what exactly made him so dangerous in the eyes of his fellow humans.
Illithid drifted silently into the village. He considered waiting for his teammates but they were taking far too long for his liking. He did not see the harm in at least scouting ahead without them. Besides they were only human and they would most likely prove a hindrance in battle. Illithid did not need hindrances in battle, he was especially not one that could get him killed. He did not know how much he could rely on these humans but he assumed he could not rely on them as much as a V'shraneez battle squad.
Another wheezing chuckle issued forth as the villagers finally noticed him. At first there was stunned silence as they eyed him suspiciously then they began silently moving back towards their houses for safety. Illithid cocked his head curiously as he watched them, apparently humans considered anything unknown to them automatically a threat. These humans were a very interesting people.

Kheldar blinked in surprise no he wanted to gasp in surprise when he felt his head tilted up and this woman's lips on his. Jade had a hell of a kiss but, Isis' kiss did exactly as she intended it to do on him. It nearly did send him into hyperventilation instead there was a look of surprise on his face as he gazed at Isis for a moment. What the hell was this woman packing?! In one kiss she nearly made Kheldar lose it and that....that was just not right totally not fair. He lightly ran his fingers against his lips when she finished the kiss to make sure that this wasn't some crazy sort of dream. He watched her kiss the forehead of the other and give that seductive wink that said 'take me now'. He glanced at what was inside the kit for a moment and counted all of it up mentally. All of this would fully recover his mana each time.
Well this will be interesting...
"Then we'll recover the mana cannon, until then au revoir." Kheldar said softly as he lightly opened and closed his hand for a moment and then headed to the teleporter. Letting himself be teleported to the mission area he adjust his gloves one last time and moved to trail after Illithid since they were teammates.

((sorry it's been so long guys))
Isis looked at the boys. They were ready to go and three had gone already but one seemed to still be waiting for orders. She chuckled and nodded to him.
"Go on then."
***
In the village it was indeed a shock. To see something like THAT floating in the air. Aliens had finally landed on earth that was it. Truthfully it had to be something like that because unless the horror movies had come to life .. yeah nothing looked like that on Earth. Children screamed and hid behind their mothers and the mothers hid behind their husbands.
Each villager had a tool. It was a farming village and so most of their weapons were the very tools they used in the fields. Spades, hoes, rakes, the works.
"What .. do you want!?" a man called out and all the others cheered him on as he stepped forward shaking slightly but damnit he had a family to protect.
