I know this is going to stir up some controversy, and the pirates out there are going to vehemently deny this, but I've been doing a lot of thinking lately, and watching some movies, of course, and I have come to a very startling revelation:
Jack Sparrow is not a pirate. He is a Ninja, disguised as a pirate to gain information and infiltrate their ranks.
Discuss?

That would explain how he gets out of every single situation, seemingly unharmed, even while acting like an idiot, while secretly being a badass.
I could believe that.
(..Also, when the hell did the pirate vs ninja thing start up!?)

I'd have to see him as a bit of both. He's somewhat of a ninja in the way Xeryth said, but his attitude is completely different, he fights fairly openly, and he is a leader. Ninjas are only there to serve their lord.

Are we talking about the same Jack Sparrow here?
I mean, he's always looking out for his 'lord' (The Pearl, of sorts, or maybe even himself), plus he's super crafty, somewhat stealthy, and always gets out of stuff unharmed, like Helpful Hakfu said.
Not to mention his little flippy action in the second movie confirmed it.

Meh. Maybe pirates were just really limber. But the end was so awesome! Who agrees? *Raises hand*

I didn't care for the movie beyond the fact that Balbosa came back. They didn't explain anything in the movie, and they jumped to scenes too fast without explaining the last scene. The never even explained scenes they skipped in scenes ahead. People kept saying that you needed to see the first one to get the movie... Um, no you didn't. All you needed to know were that the characters acted together for the one scene in the beginning. The rest of it were parts of fairy tales that they didn't care to explain to anyone.

I liked the movie, but I disliked the ending. Balbosa the supposedly dead guy comes back and you're like "whoa, he's back.." And before you can even finish the thought, the credits are rolling. I hate it when people end movies as a set up for the next movie, because in reality it isn't even an ending. It's a dramatic cliff. And I hate them.
Jack Sparrow's not a ninja, I can believe that perhaps he is a pirate/ninja hybrid or something (I agree with the flippy thing) but he is first and foremost a pirate. Arrrrrgh!
Another this I didn't like: Did you all notice the obvious green screenage during the giant wheel fight scene (which was actually pretty sweet by the way)? It killed the total effect. I mean, I know they had to do it, but they could have disguised it a little more..

If they used more graphic effects, there would be glitches in the game-- um, I mean it would have looked totally computer generated.
Did anyone jump at the beginning when the green tribesman popped out? (I don't know his nationality).

Not I. I noticed him just a split second before his eyes opened, by sheer luck.
Going back to what Lienn said, I disagree on a few parts. I'm not a super big fan of cliffhanger endings, either, but I think that Pirates 2 did a good job of ending it on a really high note. I mean, all in all, they got hype up for the next movie, which is what their point was, so I'm sure they're happy. Barbossa's return was neat, and I can't wait to see how they explain him getting back in the next movie. Considering Barbossa's the only Pirate I'll openly admire (since Jack's not really one, he's just playing his part THAT well, which was just another facet of the ninja way, mind you), I wouldn't be surprised if the blighter somehow managed to fight his own way back through Hell just to come back and eat apples.
Oh, and I didn't notice the green screenage in the wheel scene. I was too busy groaning at the extreme cheesiness of it all. I didn't find it cool at all, I found that to not only be forced and unnecessary, I found it redundant, as they already had a scene with large rolling objects with people inside at the beginning. It was essentially the same idea rehashed with some swords this time. Here's to originality. *raises glass*

Barbossa? Is that how you say it? I never knew.
***
You seem to be mixing fictional/fantasy ninja with actual ninja. Ninja don't play any part except for a blank personality in war, of course. They were hidden from the emperor, but were well known eventually. For a while, they were a myth, because they were too hard to see. As you may not know it, they chose not to reveal theirselves no matter what the circumstances. Being a ninja meant having no life to anything else but uprising. Revealing yourself from ninja would be punishable by dishonorable death, just as bad at dishonorable sepukku.

I fully realize what I'm doing, mostly because I figure that the great hordes of people who participate in the whole "Pirates v. Ninjas" campaign do about the same thing.
And as far as your information, you're correct enough by my own source of authentic ninja information as to not require me to feel as if I should correct you. However, I read in my book that another technique of ninja, in order to not reveal themselves, were to play parts, from as low as a common farmer to a lieutenant or greater in the opposing army, to gather information, sow discord, or both.
But thanks for the history lesson, regardless.

I completely disagree with the wheel thing. I thought that was one of the best seens in the movie. Probably second to the Jack sparrow kebab incident. That was frickin hilarious.

I didn't say I didn't like it, I just said that the green screenage pulled me out of the total effect of the movie...
And despite the fact that I dislike obvous cliffhanger endings, I liked the fact that barbossa came back and made you think and blah blah blah...I wasn't flaming it! sheesh la weesh, kids, lol.
Yeah, the jack sparrow kebab was pretty hilarious, and nicely done too wihtout going overboard.
