Ezra was going to kill somebody or something. He was now stuck in the middle of the courtyard, at high noon, with Zeke and a big tarp covering his latest construct. Normally, he'd have done the animation in his room, where he could have some privacy, but not today. One of the teachers got a brilliant idea, or so THEY thought. But now, because of them, he was to put on a show of animating a constuct. The worst thing was, the entire display was dull in his opinion. His magic wasn't show material until the thing was up and running.
Educational display my foot. . . Ezra growled, knowing that his teachers just wanted to get him more and more pissed off. But, he was getting extra credit, not that he needed it. His latest constuct was a test for all of his latest materials and theories, not some fancy-pants, "look at me", tippy-toes performer! If he could, he'd cast telekinesis on the teacher and pants him in front of the girl's locker room. Talk about school scandal.
Anyways, now he was waiting for the signal for him to begin the "demostration". And quite frankly, he really didn't want to do it. To make it worse, Zeke was as excited as he could get hopping around and attracting attention. Sometimes the little guy could really get on his nerves. "Zeke, calm down, you're going to make people wonder what the heck is going on. This isn't exactly a thing I want to do in front of a trillion people, all right?" He whispered, and Zeke listened, jumping up on Ezra's back. Wrapping it's paws around his creator's shoulders, he waited eagerly for his new buddy.

Jyo leaned against a wall in the thick of a crowd who had gathered to watch some demonstration that Ezra was to put on. It was his construct magic. Jyo had been dying to see it. He knew he would have to wait a bit as Ezra explained only the finished product could be the part really shown off. Jyo had read a few books about that type of magic and knew it to be true.
The problem was that Ezra looked like he'd rather not be doing this. At least not in front of so many. The staff is really being kind of harsh and unfair. It's clear Ezra isn't happy about this. they really need to lay off. He thought. Jyo was aspiring to become a staff member of this place in a position high enough to stop things like this. overall he liked the Academy. But there were some things he disagreed with.
Well if we are already at this point I might as well enjoy seeing Ezra's talent. He's probebly really good at this. Jyo thought thinking back to when he and Ezra first met. Ezra seemed the type to try and fully learn about something before doing much with it now.

Ziare walked through the crowd surrounding Ezra. All the people were a bit too close for her comfort. She wove her way through them. She spotted Jyo by the wall and smiling made her way over.
"They shouldn't do this to him." she said whispering as she leaned next to him on the wall. "Don't they understand?"
You could tell she felt bad for Ezra she knew his anti-social personality would be suffering tremendously at such a public display. Still she couldn't say she wouldn't be interested to see the construct magic at work.

Jyo smiled softly and put an arm around her. "Yes but whats done is done so let's see his abilities at work and give him the best of support we can in this. I'm sure that the staff isn't doing ths to him out of creulty. Just ignorance and eagerness. If Ezra actually is able to give life to such a construct at his age thats it incredible." Jyo said wondering if besides Ezra and the staff he was the only one who noticed this. If Ziare didn't he knew what he said would make perfect sense to her. She was a smart girl. he knew that very well.

Sighing, he saw the signal to get the demonstration under way. Pulling up the back end of the tarp, most people could only see the little wing pack sticking out of the back, which was there to really bring the rest of the pieces together. Anyone getting a good enough view could see the broken gear logo engraved into the center of the wing pack. And that was all Ezra needed to finish up his animation.
Tilting his head back and taking a deep breath, he place his right hand on the logo he revealed. Trying to attain focus in the face of pressure, he closed his eyes and exhaled for a solid ten seconds before he showed any more sign of movement. As he had said, his magic wasn't flashy. No magic words, no special effects department, people could barely even tell he was doing magic. The only indicator was a visible arcing of electricity that rippled over his arm and down into the construct.
With the mana battery already installed, the constuct came to life, standing at a towering seven feet tall. It almost looked like one of the mechs shown in japanses animation or something like that. but Ezra still had one spell to fire off before the behemoth that was Grendel could be complete. And he had to do it here. Animating was a hard enough task, but following it up immediately with a permanancy spell was just plain harsh. He'd lose face if he were to not do the spell, only to have Grendel fall apart in the next 24 hours.
Again, the right hand was placed on the construct's emblem, and Ezra focused his thoughts. All the indication of something happening this time was a light that moved inside it's body, projecting itself through the cracks quickly, as if sealing any open space that mana could leak through. Oddly enough, Ezra whispered, with a voice so weak not even he could hear it, "Ye shall be as men. . ." And he collapsed to his knees, visibly paler, and using the massive constuct's leg to support his own body.

Jyo instinctivly ran over to Eza when he saw the boy fall to his knees. Jyo supported his fellow student and pulled him to the side. "Hey man. Are you gonna be okay?" He asked not sure if this was normal or not. But definatly wanting to make sure.
After all even if not a well known one he considered Ezra a friend of his and he alwasy helped his friends when he felt it might be needed.

Ziare was shocked to see Ezra fall so weak and she ran over with Jyo. She had liked Ezra despite his best efforts and she did consider him a friend.
"Ezra can I get you anything?" Ziare asked taking his other shoulder to help Jyo support the weight and take as much strain off Ezra as possible.

The group gasped as the machine came to life, then gasped again as the creator fell. Two students ran over, hefting the younger man.
He also started to move, and the crowd parted to let the 3 people move through. As the woman spoke her final words, and before the younger man could say anything, He stepped forward into their way. The three of them all had to look up to see into his face, as he was a behemoth.
He rested his hand above the boys head, and a low humming could be heard. As this happened, a pulse was felt by the entire crowd, and a few birds resting on a tree nearby took flight. The man lifted his head back, and beams of bright white light shone forth, and a grumbling was heard from somewhere deep below. His arm seemed to rythmically shake, and soon, a light seemed to eject from his digits, splaying across the young man's face and head, he then closed his hand into a fist, and the opened it again, and a ball of white light colided with the young man's skull.
The light slowly sank into him, and his entire body went rigid, and then relaxed, as energy was transfered from the healing spell into the young man. Given the chance, he would be able to stand a little alone, and move around. He wasn't pristine, but he had energy enough to at least hold himself up.

Jyo turned to see the new arival. He realized he himself was the only one who came anywhere ear this man's height. d**n and I'm 6'2. this guy is huge. Jyo thought. "I'm sure Ezra will be grateful." He said and held out his left hand. "I am Jyo. The young lady is my girlfriend Ziare. and Ezra is the person you just helped. Who are you if I may ask." He said politely.

The behemoth of the man idly scratched at the stuble of a beard forming around his face. He said nothing, as there was no answer to that question. Cracking his neck by turning it to the animated creature, he turned his head back toward Jyo, as the man named himself.
They call me... The Priest.

Ziare looked up and instantly felt dwarfed even though she was decently tall for a girl. She watched in amazement as the man healed Ezra or that's what it had looked like anyway.
"Thank you, thank you so very much. Our friend will be grateful as are we." she said. "It's nice to meet you Priest."

The giant man grunted, as though he didn't care. But, in all actuality, he was touched by a person actual caring for someone else.
Give him an hour or so, some fluids. He'll be allright... Unless I used the wrong spell... But he's not dead, so I guess it worked... Well, actually.... He wasn't dead to begin with... So he's fine...
The man began to leave, the crowd gathering the four participants making him uneasy...

Jo gave a nod. "Good to meet you. And thanks we'll make sure he's taken care of." Jyo said and watched the tall man leave. "Interesting person. Never seen him around before." jyo said and then turned his attention back to Ezra

". . . Used the wrong spell. . ." Ezra grasped the knee of his construct, using it to help pull himself up. Zeke was trying his best too, but his short height made him unable to do more than support some of Ezra's weight. The guy was already gone by the time he was able to regain control of himself. "The Priest". Stupid name, really. But he was willing to bet that the guy wasn't stupid enough to intentionally use the wrong spell. The cut he got when he was fabricating parts for Grendel was now healed to the point of never having been there, but that wasn't why Ezra went down.
Mana exhaustion wasn't something that could be cured by normal means. It was regained naturally though sleep and could be fixed on the fly if somebody else pumped mana into them, like would be done with a distortion. But the humanto-human transfer of mana was sketchy at best. Normally, with the energy expelled by his spells, a person would be winded, like they had run a mile in five minutes. Ezra was too weak to do that, he almost passed out because of it.

"Hey are you going to be okay?" Jyo asked knowing the this Priest person had nly fixed Ezra's physical injuries. He himself had suffered from mana drain and knew that was what his friend was going through right now as well and that was why he was a little weak right now.
