Shaking his head slightly, he seemed to come ou of what one could consider a daze, thats when he noticed Ziare had come as well, and it seemed as if Talbot had drifted off to sleep now as well. He just offered them all a smile and sat back in his seat so he was in a proper positon and not slouched over as if he was tired.
"So what did I miss while I was off in la-la land, if anything?"
He asked with a slight raise of his brow, wondering exactly what he had missed.

Ziare looked at Talbot and a horrified look crossed her face but that was until Mikon started laughing. Then she smiled. It had been Mikon, he had tampered with the candy when Talbot wasn't looking and now she was reaping the rewards.
"No, I think Mikon tampered with Talbot's candy." she said. "Bet she'll have a heck of headache after this. Though the rest will probably do her some good she tends to over extend herself." she told Joseph.
"So you said it's your first day, got any impressions so far?"

Joseph looked down at Talbot and adjusted her head to see if she'd hurt herself zonking out like that. Nothing bad, but she did have a red mark on her forehead. "Well," he said as he brushed a finger along the mark, "The girls are certainly pretty here." The gunmage gave the summoner a wink then looked back at the passed out Talbot. "You suppose we should get her back to her room?"

Mikon abandoned trying to get Scith's animal to play, he sprang at Joseph's hand and bit at him hissing loudly. Mikon had gone from play with me, to prankster, to protectie familiar in under four minutes. He stood next to Talbot's head, ambrosia eyes on Joseph and hissed again- roughly translating into 'Touch again and you'll lose a finger.'

She blushed when she heard Joseph say the girls in the school were pretty, Ziare had never really thought of herself as pretty before. Ziare was shocked at how fast Mikon had turned from friendly playmate to protector. She looked at Joseph and grabbed Mikon.
"It's all right little one, he's not going to hurt Talbot I promise." she said petting the jittery creature. She looked at Talbot and lay her head more comfortably down. "Honestly I can't lift her and I don't think this guy is going to let either of you, so we'll stay here til she starts coming around and then we'll get her upstairs." Ziare offered thinking it was the best solution.
"So while we wait, tell me a bit about yourself." she turned her attention back to Joseph. She closed her eyes and summoned the water to cool her fingertips allowing the reddened skin to disipate and hopefully she wouldn't have a bruise later.

Joseph sucked on his finger a little though only to stop the bleeding. He'd felt FAR worse pain before.
"Protective little scamp. Oh me, well I'm a gunmage. Just left our school down in Nevada for here. Wasn't very into joinind D-13 like most of us do. I figured I'd come up here and learn some other magics. Maybe then I could bring some new innovations to my discipline." he explained allowing his hand to rest on his weapon.

"Hey Scith." she said warmly only now noticing he was back to the present. She turned back to Joseph.
"Wow, a gunmage, how exotic." Ziare said her eyes lighting up as they breached a subject she loved to talk about, magic. "How exactly does that work?"

Joseph smiled, "It's rather simple actually. It's the art of channeling one's own energy through a bonded weapon. Essentially, it's a way to suppliment and enhance one's own marksmanship through magic." He explained. he hoped that was clear enough. Some magic users seemed to place a complete divide between technology and magic. Those type of people couldn't quite understand how the two could go together at all. Still, Ziare seemed like an open minded girl. She'd probably get it easy enough.

Ziare listened intenly and checked on Talbot who was still sleeping away.
"Oh, I understand." she began feeling she really did. "It's like when I summon. I channel my energy into another being instead of an object. And I can control the actions or aim of said being. It's probably a little different because my summon then helps me focus my own magic spells making them twice as acqurate." she told him her eyes bright. Man she loved magic.

He snorted slightly and shook his head, looking over at Joesph, it was simple really. It worked the same way as someone surging energy into arrows or swords to use them as a more powerful weapon, all Joesph was doing was taking a weapon he already knew and making it ten times stronger by use of magic, it was brilliant really, especially in comparison to alot of mages whom knew nothing more then conjuring up their toys and thinking wands and staves were the only weapons one could wield to enhance magic. He found it stupid realy.
"A gunmage is a rarity from what I have seen so far.. then again, many mages choose to ignore the fact all weapons if the wielder has an open mind and the proper skills can be enhanced magically."

Joseph nodded towards Scith, "He's got it right. In reality any weapon could be enhance and used as a specialised branch of magic." he said with a smile. All of that was true but there was still a difference, the most important one. The emblem on his back began to feel cool as his weapon grew docile.
"However," Midnight continued, "...the key difference between a gunmage and other mages is the bonding." He unholstered his revolver and set it on the table before him. Joseph angled it so both of them could see as he ran a finger along the emblem that marked its handle, "You see this emblem. It's a bonding seal. Gunmages go through a process which permanently bonds them to the techspirit within the weapon. That's right I said it, tech spirit. Not many magic schools teach about them since even among the magically open minded they're thought of as myth."
Joseph spun his revolver around on his finger and returned it to its holster. "...But we gunmages have discovered that technology, espcially thoroughly used technology, has a spirit. You see it comes from the psychic energy, whether latent or active, from the technology's user. The energy starts to embed itself into the technology in layers which eventually form a spirit. These spirits aren't very developed since they can only communicate through sub-thoughts or emotions, and can only act within the restraints of probability. For example...uhh, oh, ever own a computer that always shut down or gliched just when you needed it most? That's the overworked machine spirit using the probability of inaccurate data to glich itself into getting a break. Understand?"

"Yea. I understand what your saying.. sort of like my sword here.. it chooses to remain as nothing more then a hilt unless I lend it my magic energy. I always call it lazy, sort of like Zaro here whom chooses to lay around all day.."
He chuckled a bit and smiled, pulling the hilt free from his belt and setting it down.
"At the same time though, I do love and thank my sword, for the simple fact it has entrusted itself to even show to me, let alone protect me from harm.. lazy or not.. it is still more like a close friend to me.. same as Zaro over here."
Of course, after hearing his name so many times the animal poked its head up from his lap and looked up at him, at which time he offered him half of the sandwich Talbot had given him and finished up the other half himself.

Ziare listened concentrating on everything he said trying her best to understand. She was comfortable around guns knowing how to use them herself and being a decent shot. She looked at the symbol on the gun and nodded continuing to listen to his explanation.
"I think so." she said with a smile. "I think I understand at least the emblem in the least." she said.
She stood up her robes swinging slightly. She turned around and pulled the back of her skirt down slightly to expose the entire tatoo that had just appeared on her skin two days ago. It had hurt like hell causing her to scream in agony as it was seared into her skin by Armenius's spirit claiming her body for a strong fire summon. He had told her that other summon elements would do the same when they were strong enough. The tatoo crossed her lower back just underneath the skirt. The tatoo was a dragon surrounded by the runes of fire. The ink was too bright a red to be ink.
"This will help me concentrate and feed my very own energy into Armenius. He has his own energy but I can now feed him and he can feed me. We are connected through a higher bond that can never be broken til death. We have become a partnership instead of summoner and summonee." she said turning back around and sitting. "Even Talbot hasn't seen that yet." she said laughing softly.

Joseph gave a toothy grin. "You and I have something in common then. I'd take off my shirt to show you the same emblem tatooed on my back, but I'm sure the staff would disapprove. It works exactly the same way. It helps me to feed my energy into my revolver and it allows me to understand the machine spirit inside." The gunmage gave the girl a fresh look over. Interesting how two disciplines with seemingly nothing in common, could have such a strong similarity.

"Bah.. damn you two."
He laughed slightly after saying those words, of course, he was just messing around with them, as if they would have looked over they would have saw a smile on his lips in the same manner of what he had said.
"You seem to have far more in common.. figures. I cant even use magic.. "
He shook his head and relaxed back looking over at his sword once more, that was the only piece of anything he could do. His only magic was to change his blade.. that was it. Fruitless really.
