There was a song. In her dream. It kept repeating over and over again. The same chord and the same verse. But it was beautiful. A male voice like she had never heard before. She stirred softly. It was then she felt the breath on her ear and the warm arms around her body. A fraile and small girl but he held her with such care. A hand stroking her long blonde hair. She lay there not opening her eyes yet as she listened to the soft song of the man that loved her.
Slowly her eyes opened. Those pale blonde lashing glimmering in the light from the window. She heard the rain but it was Shin's voice that meant the most. A smile crossed her face as she saw him still there and still holding her. There were passionate feelings in her eyes. Not quite love but something like it was blossoming in her. She was almost afraid to take that last step she would have to see what Shin would do for now. To see if he really meant all the wonderful things he told her last night.
"Goodmorning." she whispered to him.
Letting go of his shirt gently her hand reached up touching his soft cheek. Leaning in she locked their lips in a soft soft kiss. But one that had definate feelings behind it. But it wasn't only one kiss. It was three. Each lingered longer than the last and the last two were laced with passion. The last almost hungry for him as she broke it and pulled back. She blushed softly at what she had just done and looked into his eyes hoping it was allright she had done that.
She had never felt more awake in such a long time. He had held her all night. Keeping the nightmares at bay. He had woken her to a song and even now he was holding her still. Her morning sickness was there but she was ignoring it. It didn't matter. What mattered was him and their morning together. Their first morning.

Gently, Madelyn’s eyes opened, and glistened in the morning light. She opened her cute little lips and her angelic voice bid him good morning. Her hand placed upon his cheek, and she kissed him softly. He kissed back just as carefully, and returned the other two with equal passion as that which she had shown. As his fingers played a gentle slide through her platinum blond locks, his leg folded over her own, stroking her calf with his, gently rubbing their skin together. He was more than ok with her kisses. He loved them as much as he loved her.
“Good morning to you two” He said gently as he continued to hold her gently. It was their first morning together, and he felt like it could go on forever. But he knew it couldn’t, as he realized that not only did they have to get up, but he had classes that day. He sat slowly, easing himself and gently holding Madelyn’s hand, offering to help her up if she wanted it.
He helped her out of bed and kissed her tenderly. “I’ll make us something to eat” He promised, reluctant to let go of his newfound love. He eased back into her kitchen, finding a toaster and some eggs. He popped the bread in the device, not yet clicking it down, and heated up a pan on the small stove. Once it was hot enough, he cracked some eggs into it and clicked the toaster down.
A minute or two later, the toast popped up, and he took the pieces out and buttered them, taking out the still soft eggs and sliding them onto the toast. He found two plates and set them at the table, both next to each other as he sat at the table sideways, his lap exposed again for Madelyn to find comfort upon.

It was wonderful. To wake up with someone once again. He seemed so happy to be next to her like this. He kissed her back which made the kisses even better than she had thought. Even returning the passion to the last ones and she could feel his leg running up against hers. She wanted to be here longer. To kiss him and hold him more. But for now she would wait, there would be more time. Perhaps he would come back to her tonight. To sleep together in each others arms again.
He got up and she too with him. Taking his hand she let him help her up to standing again. He tenderly kissed her on the lips again which she returned softly and squeezed his hand gently. He left to make breakfast and she smiled watching him go. Turning she gently made the bed like she did every morning, smoothing out the wrinkles and making it smoothe. Going to her closet she changed her clothing. A soft pair of blue jeans and her maternity shirt that was a sky blue color that accented her eyes. She decided to leave her hair down.
Going out into the room she smelled the food. She normally didn't eat breakfast with her morning sickness and all. She poured them both some orange juice silently. It was so nice to have a man in the house again. To be with someone in the morning. Setting the glasses on the table she smiled as she helped him with getting the toast and everything together. He went in the other room and she followed. He left his lap open so she could sit in it and she smiled brightly as she did just that. Sitting down in his lap she kissed his cheek, thanking him for making breakfast. She wasn't hungry but he had gone through the trouble to make it she would eat something.
She sipped her orange juice and picked up her toast. She knew that she could, in the least stomach that. Leaning against him with one hand holding her toast and the other her glass of juice. She sipped and nibbled her food slowly. Her eyes closing softly in the comfort of his arms.
-Will you be here tonight? Every night? Or just tonight?- she asked him silently her eyes opening as she looked up at him. It was so easy to communicate with him. She enjoyed that, it made it so much easier to get things across and she didn't have to pull out her pad and write to him all the time.

Madelyn seemed reluctant to eat, but nibbled upon it regardless. Shin realized that her morning sickness would probably not make her very hungry, but he thought that she should try and eat something, however little. He would simply finish whatever she could not, so as not to waste anything. She leaned into him softly and closed her eyes, letting him wrap an arm around her as he drank his juice.
Her plea became obvious though her touch, and Shin put his drink down, bringing his arm up to caress her face gently. “I will be here for you as long as you want me to…” He cooed soothingly, letting her know that as long as she wanted it, she would not sleep alone anymore. He kissed her softly upon her sweet lips, continuing to caress her cheek carefully. He pulled back gently and let his soft eyes hold her gaze for a few moments, kissing her forehead gently and letting her rest her head against his chest once more. “I love you Madelyn… And I want to be here for you…” He told her as he stroked her hair lovingly.

Madelyn had finished her toast. Setting down her juice before he answered her. She looked up at him when his own juice was sat down beside her glass. He cupped her cheek and she stared into his eyes as he told her what she wanted to hear. That he would stay with her. That he wouldn't mind being there for her as long as she needed and wanted him. A smile began to cross her face but it was soon taken away when his lips met hers. She kissed him back and enjoyed the way he held her stroking her cheek as if she was the most important thing in his world.
The kiss broke and he told her that he loved her. She smiled and nodded softly. She wasn't yet ready to say it back. He could understand that. Jonathan's death was still rather fresh and she was afraid, at the moment to say anything. But deep feelings for him, were ripe in her eyes. He told her that he wanted to be here for her and she leaned against his chest gently her eyes closing again and feeling his hand through her hair. She felt so small in his lap, but she was a small girl and felt small in anyone's lap.
-I want to be with you today. I want to see you more than just at night. Meet me for lunch.. and then.. after school in the courtyard. I want to watch the sunset with you. I want to be .. a couple.-
She kissed his neck gently and softly twice. Her nose, the tip of it gently running back and forth on his neck. She smiled softly as she did this. She loved being in his arms. She was so safe and so comfortable right here. As if she had found another place to belong. Perhaps Jonathan had sent her someone, someone that would help her not only move on but someone that would take care of the young small silent little girl. So expressive but so silent.
-Tell me how.. you use your magic. What kinds of spirits do you have?- she asked him curiously looking up into his eyes only one of her bright violet blue eyes looked up at him and saw him looking down at her. She smiled softly.

Madelyn wanted to see him more than just before they went to bed. She wanted to see him whenever possible, sharing lunch, and watching the sun set over the horizon in the afternoon. “Then a couple we shall be” He told her gently, holding her in a tender embrace. He wanted to do everything he could for her. Make her feel good when she was down… Hold her tight when she was alone… And protect her when she was in danger. He wanted her to know these things, and to he told her through his embrace.
Madelyn gently kissed his neck twice, her button nose rubbing gently against his skin as she did so. It felt nice, her nuzzling his neck like that. One of the simple pleasures that he was starting to enjoy about their time holding each other. She opened a single eye and looked into his. She wanted to know about his magic. She wanted to know how he did what he did, and what kinds of spirits he had.
Shin smiled gently and drew a line down from her forehead to her lips, gently pressing them as he had the night before. “I’ll tell you then” He said lovingly. “The spirits I catch reside in my cards, and when I need their help, I can call out their name to have them merge with my soul, changing my body and lending me their powers. Their mind shares my head, and we work together to achieve my goal” He told her as he thought about it a bit. He then reached down and pulled all his cards out of their holder, and spread them across the table next to him after moving the plates and cups to the side. He pointed to each card and explained which spirit resided within it. There were 10 brown cards with light brown centers, and one black card with a silver center.
“This is Ban'ang. He is a fire spirit who can create and control medium flames.” His hand drifted over to the next card, tapping it gently. “Eng'entho. He is the spirit of the animals, and can help me communicate with them.” He pointed at the next card. “This one is Ril'qua'al. She is my musical muse, whom you saw me connected with last night” He told her with a small grin, remembering her surprise at seeing him like that. “That is Roth'inee. She is a dance muse, allowing me to perform even the most complicated of dances, though she is slowly teaching me to do so on my own” He added the last bit with a slightly embarrassed look across his face. “This one here is Rod'radi. He is an earth spirit, and lets me move large stones or even split the earth down a few meters.” He said with slight fondness. “Zusuk is an insect spirit, allowing me to call and control the insects around me to my aid.” His hand hovered over the black card completely, pointing to the next one after it. “That one’s Tasek. She is a water spirit, who can find deposits of water, and even control liquid to the point of raising it into the air so I can throw it.” He tapped the next card somewhat proudly. “This one here is Aldayc. She is a wind spirit, and one of the more powerful ones. She can blow the wind fast enough to actually cut an object, though it’s not very accurate.” He shrugged slightly and pointed at the next one. “This is Udeythi, the forest spirit. She can talk to the trees and even grow and manipulate vines” He said as though explaining something interesting from a book. “And finally, Ryn'ine. She is the muse of art, who can help me to draw, paint or even understand the meaning behind images.” He explained simply.
“And that’s the spirits I have” He said with a happy smile looking back to Madelyn to see what she thought about his deck. It was still in its beginning stages, but a useful deck none the less. He wondered if the small girl might notice that he avoided the black one, not really wanting to explain it, but willing to should she ask. He just wasn’t very fond of that card.

Madelyn smiled. He treated her so kindly she was used to it already. Telling her that they would be a couple and even kissing down her face gently. She giggled as he did but she loved every minute of it. Wrapped up in his arms, she would remember this later when he and she had to be seperated. She did want to be with him, spending as much time as she could with him and he was willing to let her do that. He wanted to be a couple too and now she was more happy than ever.
Soon he lay his cards out on the table and Madelyn watched in great intrest. Her sharp eyes picked out the black one. The one that was different from all the rest. But he would explain in time and so she listened and watched carefully as he touched each of the cards and explained which spirit it was and what they did for him. It was interesting he hand ones that helped with music and art. She would think that they would be fighting spirits but they all seemed so kind. Sure they could be used for danger like the water and the air ones. But still over all, it was amazing that there were so few ones, that were outright fighters. On and on he went explaining them to her one by one and she was eager to learn them all. Even the muse was interesting to her where some of the others may not have been.
Yet, when he got to the end and claimed those were the spirits he knew she furrowed her brow slightly. That wasn't true. She could see that as plain as day. He hadn't even talked about the black one and that was the one she was most interested in. Mainly because it was different than the others. So gently she leaned over and took the black one in her hand. Looking up at him she held it between her middle and index fingers as she waited for the explanation. Her eyes told him she was not that dimwitted. Her senses were keen and she payed attention when she needed to. This card had not escaped her notice.
When he was done telling her she would look up into his eyes and smile as she handed him the card back. Gently she would stroke his cheek and tell him that everything would be allright now. She was here for him, like he was here for her. Neither would be alone again. Just the two of them, together for now. Supporting each other.
"Mine.. is music." she told him softly in that voice. She blushed softly. "I play.. and things.. happen."

As Madelyn held up the black card and gave him a look that said she wasn’t quite so blond, he sighed a bit. “I knew you would want to know… But technically, he isn’t a spirit…” He told her, looking closely at the card. “His name is Ihriel the consumer… And he is a demon…” He said with a slight frown. “He has been passed down the family line for generations now, and his power is very great… But although he serves my family loyally… He is still a demon. Foul and dark.” He sighed again looking at Madelyn. “When a spirit summoner captures a demon, they corrupt the card, turning it black for all to see. This is why his card is different from the others.” He collected the rest of the cards, and shuffled them gently as he elaborated on the story he had told her the night before.
“Last night, when I mentioned being attacked by that monster… I drew a card to fight back, and it turned out to be Ihriel. He merged with my body and mind, giving me the great strength I needed to defeat the beast… But when our minds merged, I saw many dark things I wish I hadn’t. His soul was as black as the card you hold in your hand, and he drove me to kill the monster in a very violent way…” His eyes saddened, and Madelyn handed him his card back, then gently placed her hand on his cheek.
She let him know that it was all right, and that now they were together. His serious look became that of a smile, his features softening as he slid the card into the deck and placed them in his holster. “Thank you Madelyn…” He said warmly, holding her gently again. She spoke again, telling him that her magic was music. That when she played, things happened to the world around her. “So then when you create music, your magic affects things…” He said slowly, holding her gently. “Then, someday, when you feel it is right, I would like it if you would sing for me” He said tenderly, stroking her arm with such care. “Someday…” He repeated, emphasizing that he did not wish to make her at all. He merely wanted her to know that when she felt she could, he would very much like to hear it.

Madelyn listened silently to his story about the black card and even why it was black. She nodded softly as he began to explain a bit more to her and she ran her hand up and down his arm gently because she wanted him to be comforted by her touch as much as she could comfort him. She smiled softly when he was done and she was cupping his cheek. He seemed to soften by the look in her eyes and she smiled softly happy she could do something like that for him. Even now her touch and what her eyes told him was enough to make him understand she was here for him and ready to help him.
He then changed the topic to her own music and she nodded in afirmation. Her music indeed did change things. Make things happen around her. He said he would like to hear her sing someday and she nodded again. Jonathan had only heard her sing a few times. During the day he proposed to her. The day they fought side by side against the battle, and then on the day he died. So in time, Shin would hear her sing. When she was ready. But for now, she rose excitedly her eyes a light and she took his hand pulling him gently over to the piano. She smiled as she sat him down close and then took her place at the piano. Since he had showed her his magic last night she would show him hers.
-Watch-
Her eyes told him as she took a deep breath as her small nimble fingers placed themselves on the ivory keys. She concentrated for a moment and with her eyes still closed she picked something that she wanted to play too and then she found it. Playing to the clearing Jonathan had shared with her, that she now wanted to share with Shin. She began to play. As she played the walls seemed to fade away the illusion taking form, since this was one of her spells. It was of a clearing. Surrounded by high grass, blue sky over head instead of the ceiling and even a gentle breeze that would ruffle the grass and blow over Shin. He was no longer sitting on the seat he was leaning against the trunk of a huge and tall tree offering him shade as well as comfort between the roots.
It was beautiful and looked and felt to be real. She smiled softly as the song went even more beautiful the music playing in the illusion but just barely it depended on how absorbed in the illusion he was. It was completely real though you couldn't touch anything because she was not advanced enough to do something like that yet. Soon though it faded when she finished the song and smiled turning around looking at him asking him if he enjoyed that.

Slowly, she stood up and took him by the hand, leading him to her piano and seating himself next to her. She began to play upon the keys of the piano lightly, skimming across its notes and creating a beautiful and serene tune that played through his head quietly. Slowly, his surroundings began to change to a beautiful landscape, a cool breeze blowing through his hair, and the tune of Madelyn’s fingers dancing across the keys gracefully, sang in his mind as he looked across the field to where the music flowed from.
Gently, the song came to an end, and the world faded back to reality. Shin’s face seemed calm and at peace. “That was beautiful…” He said in a relaxed voice. But rather than let her get up and come to him, he walked over to her, sliding next to her at the piano. He gently brushed her hair behind her ear and smiled. “Can you show me? How you played the song?” He asked gently, letting his hands sit upon the keys, mimicking her hand positioning. “Just the start… I can learn the rest later” He told her, moving one of his hands over to rest carefully upon her own, gently stroking the back of her hand.

She smiled when the song ended and he called it beautiful. It was nice to share her morning with someone again. It was nice to be with someone that could appreciate her even in her silence. She didn't have to speak she just had to feel and he knew what she needed and wanted. It was amazing that they could do this and she was not going to let it go. She wanted to nourish it and see where it went. And she enjoyed getting to know him little by little. That look in his eyes and those soft touches he gave her only endeared her more to him than before.
He sat beside her on the piano bench and asked her to teach him the song that she had just played. His fingers went up to the keys and she smiled softly. He looked at her tucking her hair behind her ear and then sat his hand on top of hers rubbing the back of it gently. She leaned over and kissed his cheek softly and nodded gently. She began to slowly, key by key show him how to play. She didn't apply any magic to her music she just played softly and gently showing him the first few lines of music. When she was done she stopped playing and looked up at him. She smiled softly as she leaned against him softly.
"Shin." she whispered saying his name softly in her voice. She smiled at him and looked up at him. She looked up at him wanting him to kiss her again. Wanting him to kiss her softly but passionatly. She wanted to feel his feelings for her.

Madelyn kissed his cheek softly, and then began to show him the song. Shin paid close attention to each keystroke, mimicking it exactly as they played the first few lines of the song in slow motion together. Note by note, the music slowly came together as she showed him just how to do it, and he followed her directions to the letter. Until finally she sat back and smiled at him. Her body leaned against his and he wrapped an arm around her gently.
Her voice spoke his name in the softest whisper, and she gazed up into his eyes, wishing for a soft yet passionate kiss. A request he was more than happy to grant. He leaned in and put his arm around her waist, placing his lips onto hers, letting them caress her gently. He kissed her several times, slowly interlocking his fingers with hers as he used his other hand to support her. He was gentle, yet his passion was obvious… He loved this girl, and as he tasted of her lips, he knew that he would love her for as long as he had love to give.
Slowly, the kiss broke, but he decided to give her a little something extra, gently kissing her cheek. Then her jaw, and slowly moved down her neck until he placed a kiss upon her shoulder. His head rose and he looked her in the eyes ever so compassionately. “Madelyn…” He said quietly, letting his fingers play along the back of her hand before finally detaching his hand from hers.
His eye caught glimpse of a clock and he realized that he had classes to attend. He was disheartened by this, but decided that he would just have to settle for the perfect morning. He gently brushed the side of Madelyn’s face with his open palm and gazed deeply into her eyes. “I will see you at lunch ok?” He said gently, giving her a final gentle kiss goodbye as he stood up, helping her to her feet and walking to the door with her. “Meet me at the cafeteria. We’ll eat and then we can go sit under a tree for the rest of the break” He told her with a smile, before finally stepping out and closing the door behind him, only then breaking into a brisk jog so as not to be late for his class that started in five minutes.

Madelyn felt his arm go around her and she scooted closer softly looking up into his eyes. Gently he came closer and she closed her eyes and kissed him back. Her breathing couldn't help but become just a little aggitated as the passion flowed through the both of them. It wasn't that they were making love or anything, but she was a girl that enjoyed touches and this was just one more thing that made her life all the more worth while. His hand entwined with hers and she could hear the soft sounds their lips made when they met and parted only on meet again.
Gently he parted and she opened her violet blue eyes and looked up at him softly. Her eyes filled her with new found feelings for him. She blushed softly. He stroked the back of her hand whispering her name to her and she smiled softly. He was special. He made her feel special and she loved that. He stroked her face with his palm and she nuzzled into it. Touch was important to her, often times it was what she used to communicate things. or to get a person to look into her eyes so she could show them what she meant. Right now though, she was in heaven. Suddenly he spoke of leaving and her face fell slightly, but she knew they both had school. She nodded softly about seeing him at lunch.
He helped her up and she went with him keeping her hand in his until they got to the door. She smiled as he kissed her one last time and she looked up at him. She smiled again when he told her what they would do at lunch she nodded eagerly telling him not to buy lunch she would bring it. Kissing his cheek she watched him leave. The door shut, and her apartment seemed so large and empty without him. She began to clean the dishes and put them away thinking about what to make them for lunch so that she could surprise him. Humming softly as she did all these thing picking up around her rooms and putting her flute away from last night and closing off the piano. She went about her wifely, motherly, and girl duties. Laundry and what now with thoughts of Shin in her mind.
