Lucian grinned as she chuckled and agreed with him. He was indeed lucky to have met this girl. While she seemed quiet and timid, she had a powerful personality. Her ability to melt away any emotional barrier he had to opening up to her was incredible. She was able to break down the shield he had spent years building with his icy indifference to others in just a matter of hours.
"Well I mostly enjoy physical exercise, training, sparring. It takes a well honed body to sharpen the mind," he said with a nod, "Besides I need to be on the top of my game, fighting wise of course, because my magic relies almost entirely on my ability to combat the enemy hand-to-hand," he explained, before finishing off the last of his tea, "What aobut you Madelyn, is there anything else besides music that you truly enjoy?" he asked, for once in his life actually genuinely interested in another person.

It was rather nice to be so comfortable with a new friend in her dorm room. Enjoying tea and cookies. She was unused to company and entertaining someone was even more dificult for the young silent girl yet she had indeed found someone that was patient enough to read everything she had to say and still converse with her as you would a normal person.
She heard his question and she smiled as she picked up her pad once more. One day perhaps she would speak to him but it wouldn't be on the first day and it would take quite a bit more trust before she did that. It was definatly a big step.
-I like to go on long walks, I like to go out in nature. I like to cook actually and bake. Simple things, it seems.- She handed it to him and giggled because the last line was true. Now that she was no longer beaten and she was safe she took great joy in the simple things that so many took for granted.

Lucian grinned as he took the pad and read what she wrote. The simple things; cooking, baking, being in nature. God, she sounded so much like his sister. Lucian tried hard to fight back the sadness he could feel welling up inside him. He remembered how hard it was, she was the hardest to kill. Even in his pride-blinded rage he had faltered when it came time to end her life. Of course he had gone through with it in the end. but her death was the only one he would truly ever regret. She had been so kind to him and he remembered how everytime he saw her it made the day instantly better.
He shook his head, shaking away the sadness, pushing it down, and killing it. It was his normal routine when he was overcome with a potentially obstructing emotion. Emotions could cloud reason and he liked to keep his wits about him.
"The simple things are usually the most rewarding in life Madelyn...never forget that," he said with a faintly sad smile. Now that he really thought about she was indeed a lot like his sister, maybe this was his punishment for his sin of pride. To be faced with a reminder of his sister, the only person he ever truly loved, but had murdered out of pride. Pride, the deadliest of all sins, the sin that cast the great angel Lucifer out of heaven, the sin that cast mankind out of the Garden of Eden. A great sin indeed, Lucian would do well to temper his pride with wisdom, especially after the grievous murders that had taken place due to his pride.

The sadness that crossed his face was indeed something she knew all too well. For she knew that loss. Her own family had been murdered when she was only five years old and she, being a scared young girl had run away and it was the only reason she survived. Yet, from her hiding place she had heard everything that took place and sometimes the screams still echoed in her mind.
She stood at this after his words and crossed to him. She sat on the very edge of the small table between the two chairs careful not to sit on anything. She took his hand and smiled. Her eyes said it all if he took the time to look into them. She knew this pain. She really did. She instead of staying in that position she moved and hugged him gently. She pulled back and looked right into his eyes and mouthed...
..I understand..
She moved back in and hugged him to let him know just how much she truly did understand. He was a friend to her now and she was going to be there for him if she could if he needed her. With a blush on her face she pulled back with a gentle smile before returning to her seat across the table from him once more. She really didn't know where to go from here so she didn't move or ask another question she would let him move forward when he was ready.
