"Loud, eh? You can say that again," Price said, as derisively as ever, but by this time, if Phae hadn't figured out that he rarely meant most of the things he said, then their little... friendship, seemed the safest thing to call it, wasn't going to work out. He was rather sure she hadn't been offended yet, however, and didn't think she would be anytime soon, either.
"She sounds nice," he said, regarding Phae's twin Phoebe, "good to see the quiet ones finding people... you'd think they'd never even get the courage to speak to a cute boy, you know? And... what kind of a name is Xeryth? Sounds like some whack-job straight out of a role-playing game. And what kinda guy is he that goes for the quiet sort? Probably some sort of hermit himself. Scrawny, I'll bet," Price said laughingly, naturally assuming less of people than they likely were.
He stopped a bit to take another bite of his omelette, smiling happily at the wonderful taste. "Great food here, eh?"
"Oh, yeah" Price said suddenly, having forgotten the question that had been asked of him just a moment ago. It seemed that food had that kind of power over him. "I'm an only child, myself. My father's only loves, they said, were my mother, me, and the martial arts."
He laughed and continued to munch, eating the last strip of bacon and polishing off the last of the omelette as well. That left only the pancakes, which he stared at hungrily for a moment, but, instead, looked up to Phae once more.
"Hey, Lucky, what's your life like at the Academy? I mean, what kinda people do you know here? It just seems like... a place where magic users come together, you'd have a pretty diverse group of people. Is it ever dangerous around here?" The words themselves sounded worried, as if Price had some fear for his life upon coming to the Academy. This, of course, may have been true, but as usual, the way he spoke these words, with his usual "I'm better than everyone" attitude, made it sound as if it was possibly just the next challenge he was going to overcome.

Phae laughed as he called Xeryth's name out. It was, she guessed, an unusual name yet it seemed quite a few people had weird names at the academy. It must be some kind of magic trend. When you're born, you get the weird names.
"Hey my name isn't much better. Phaedra. Bleh, and the full name, sucks even more. Sounds like a name out of some smancy romance novel. I feel dirty just thinking about it." she chuckled as she grabbed a slice of bacon and at it.
She heard his next question and smiled taking another sip of her hot chocolate before pushing her plate towards him.
"Incase you didn't order enough you know." she chuckled she had barely eaten half her meal.
"As for the school, it's mainly friendly here. Though here like any school you have your bad guys and good guys. So you just have to watch for the ones that want to fight everyone if you don't want to get into a fight. Other than that, we do have times where we're called out to help in some kind of large battle or mission that some outside source needs our special help. But even then it's volunteer so again you don't really have to do anything you don't want to. I enjoy helping out the Academy when I can because well, I love it here. It's so free and I'm really happy here. So why not help perserve it you know." she said with a chuckle.
"So tell me your favorite things. You know, color ... food.. icecream.. music.. you know that stuff."

"Phaedra?" Price asked through a mouthful of food, "I-mmph- like it. Itsh... itsh... fancy, but -mph- not too much so," he finished, finishing his bite somewhere in the middle. He grinned and kept at his pancakes, raising his eyes to see Phae pushing her food toward him. He grinned at this, thanking her instantly.
"Oh, hey, thanks, I-waaait a minute," he said, suddenly accusatory. He pushed the plate back over to her. "You barely ate. I'm not coming all the way out here and offering you breakfast just to have you pick at it and then try to pass the rest of on me. Eat up, Lucky." He smirked and immediately went back to his pancakes, gobbling them up faster than most would expect a human being could actually eat. It would seem that, with all the working out and training Price underwent, he worked himself up to having a naturally massive appetite.
Phae fired off another question, or rather, set of questions at him, and he lifted up his fist, then counted off one finger for each answer he gave her, rapid fire.
"Silver, Pancakes, rocky road, heavy metal, annnnd TIME," he said with a smirk, checking the watch that he wasn't wearing. "Damn, I'll have to work on my starts, I'm getting sloppy." He looked back to Phae with a raised eyebrow and a grin.
"Now it's your turn... favorite... breed of dog, comedian, childhood toy, TV show, and style of sword, GO!"

Oh damn. He was going to be one of those that was going to force her to eat. Though she had to admit that he had bought or was going to buy the food for her since she had kicked his butt in the .. and what a nice butt it was.. ahem.. in the sword fight.
She pulled her plate back with her one free hand and picked up her fork trying to decide where she was going to fit it. She forked another piece of egg and slid it into her mouth she looked at him and chewed as he listed.
Swallowing she laughed and just for him she spooned in some more eggs. Just for him. He was definatly making her laugh and she couldn't remember the last time she really had fun like this before. Not in a very long time. And it was nice just to not worry about anything.
"Pappillion, none, a stuffed puppy named CeeCee, Doctor who, rapier, and time!!!" she said with a happy grin. She shoveled in one last bite of eggs now only a bit of eggs and some bacon left as she shoved the plate back to him.
"Allright, Blacky! Favorite.. time of day, season, holidy, place to be alone, type of fish, weather, and sword. GO!!!" she called as she sipped her milk with a grin. This day was turning out to be one of the best she had ever had in her life.

Price grinned again as Phae listed off her answers, doing a pretty quick job of listing them. Price was impressed, he hadn't given easy questions, it seemed that unlike most others, Phae was about as decisive as he was. He took another bite of his meal, just in time to catch Phae eating a little bit more, and then trying to push the plate back over to him once more.
Quickly, Price's hand shot over to the plate, meeting it in the middle and stopping the advance cold. His eyes caught hers, and he smirked, wagging his right finger mock-disapprovingly. It would seem as if he wasn't taking 'no' for an answer just yet. As she asked him his own set of questions to answer, he recoiled just a bit, eyes widening and mouth opening slightly at the variety.
"Oooh, nice, let me think, let me-wait! No favorite comedian? What's wrong with you? We'll talk on that later. Ummm.... midnight, Halloween, rooftop under stars, mahi mahi, it's delicious, slightly cloudy, katana, and TIME!" As he had the last time, he had counted off each answer by raising a finger until after the fifth, and brought them all back into a fist again upon calling 'time.'
Quickly scooping up the last of his pancakes and shoveling them into his mouth, Price chewed the last of his food, thinking of a good list.
"Alright... letter of the alphabet, band, feature about yourself, and movie... GO!"

Phae laughed hard. It was so much fun just hanging out with Blacky. She smiled over at him and she placed her free and still uneating hand back on the table and let her head lay in it as he had one earlier. She watched him for a few minutes not thinking of her answers just watching him.
"The letter Z, Rammstein, my hair, and The Matrix." she answered with a grin. "TIME!"
She giggled and ran her thumb absently over the back of his hand as she smiled at him. She thought of what questions she would like to ask him. There were so very many running through her mind. She had been very lucky today. Hence, the nickname it seemed.
"Girlfriends name, favorite day of the week, your middle name, your birthday, and your favorite drink." she said with a wink. "And GO!!"

"Don't have one, Thursday, Alexander, April second, and water. Time." He said, a little less excitedly, and a little more confidently now. Maybe this little game could be used to actually find something about the girl. If Price played his cards right, he may get to know one thing that had been on his mind ever since he saw her earlier that morning. Taking a deep breath, Price stabbed a bit of her eggs with his fork and ate it. It was clear she wasn't going to eat any more, and after all, she'd eaten most of it. Price was a jerk sometimes, but he liked Phae enough to slack off, for her.
"Okay... brand of toothpaste, constellation, type of magic, restaurant, style of dance, teacher here, boyfriend's name, and how you feel about me GO!!"
Price had collected his thoughts, and managed to list off the slightly longer list without a single hitch, firing them off so rapidly and quickly moving into 'go' that he hoped Phae would get caught up in the game as well.

This game was only too fun for her. Not only was she getting to know the man that she had only met this morning but she was laughing and feeling carefree. Her mind wasn't slowly replaying some of the dark moments she had lived through recently. He began listing her next things to list and living in the moment she went right on through.
"Colgate, Orion, sword mage, Italian Olive, raving, Winklewood, Junpei, and I like you very much." Her eyes opened wide and she blushed at the last answer. "Umm Time!"
She chuckled and bit her lower lip out of nerves. She looked over at their hands holding each others but still she didn't want to move hers. It felt warm there. It felt right there. She and Blacky had really clicked today and she didn't want to let go. Not yet, not any time soon though she knew that eventualy she would have to.
"Allright, buddy. Flower, hair color, favorite attribute, movie, and how you feel about me?" she asked looking up at him her eyes locking with his. "GO!"
She was a bit nervous now. Her own answer had come out but he might be expecting her to try to return it. She could only hope he would answer. She needed to know. She could only pray that he would do this for her. This one thing. She almost pleaded with him with her eyes. This one thing.. please, Rich.

A-ha. Checkmate. Time, indeed.
So, she did have a boyfriend, it seemed. Much to Price's own shock, he felt his own heart sink at this. If he hadn't figured out what exactly it was he felt about the girl sitting with him before, it was quite obvious by now. The chemistry simply couldn't be denied between them, from the very first moments they met, they had clicked, wholly and completely, and Price was just now realizing, that, in order to keep that, he wasn't going to be able to just sit down and allow it to happen. No, he had another fight to win.
Was Price planning on stealing Phae from this 'Junpei'? Oh, absolutely. As far as he was concerned, he didn't even deserve her anyway, regardless of whether or not he knew the guy.
Phae seemed just a little nervous, visibly blushing as she looked down at the two hands closed together. Reassuringly, he gave her hand a little squeeze, looking up at her as she asked her questions to him. Meeting her gaze squarely and completely, Richard Price, sounding as serious as anyone would ever hear him, replied to only one of them.
"Forget all those others. Lucky, I like you more than you probably even realize. Right now, right here, is just about the only moment I'd ever need in my life, were I to be struck down today. So thank you for it." Looking deep into Phae's eyes, Price smiled, as warmly and genuinely as anyone could be, taking in the beauty of the girl sitting across from him.
Then, almost as soon as it began, the moment was over, and Price's usual challenging look was upon his face once more, that same cocky smirk on his face. "Besides, I'll bet anything I can win you over from this 'Junpei' whack-job any day."

There were those times in life when your heart just seemed to warm up from the wonderful words someone had gifted you with. And here it had happened for the first time in so very long. It felt as if some of ice and the darkness that was in and around her heart seemed to melt away.
Her eyes locked on his and she just sat there frozen in time. There was something special about the way the two seemed to instantly get along. They had a bit in common but more so than that they had fun with each others company. Hell, it was only breakfast and she had already considered this the best day of her life in so very long.
"I haven't been able to be so carefree and happy in so very long. You've given me a gift this day. And I thank you for that, Rich." she said softly as she squeezed his hand in return.
The moment passed in not too much longer and she smiled at the comment. Junpei was very strong but she figured Price had one thing going. He would be ruthless and relentless. If he really set his mind to it, or so it seemed to her anyway. So it seemed that neither was going to let go of the others hand. And she smiled.
"So where to now, Blacky? Confessions aside we have a whole day together." she said with a chuckle.

As Phae asked Price what was to be next, Price just shrugged. The waitress came by again with the check, and Price extended a finger, silently bidding her to wait. Reaching into his back pocket, he produced his wallet and, looking at the bill, pulled out a few bills of his own, handing them to the waitress, including a standard, but not over-generous, tip. She thanked him for his service, and Price just nodded, grinning over at her as she disappeared with their plates.
Price then stood up, pulling Phae up as well by their connected hands. In true fashion, it would seem to anyone looking on that Price and Phae hadn't even exchanged such deep confessions mere moments ago, at least by the look on Price's face. It was merely as if the usual Price was back in action, calling the shots in his usual cocky way. Raising an eyebrow, he corrected Phae on her last statement.
"Actually, who said anything about having a whole day together? After all, I said breakfast, and lunch... and maybe dinner, too, if you're lucky, Lucky. Tell ya what... I'll walk you back to the Academy, kiss you goodbye, and meet up with you again at lunch today to talk about all the amazing things we'll have done from then 'til now. If you don't have anything good, though, I'm gonna be mad." Price smirked as he pulled Phae along, this time leading the way back to the academy.
-A few minutes later...-
The unlikely couple stood together at the gates of the Academy, standing around slightly awkwardly, their hands still together, neither one seeming like they wanted to leave. Finally, Price just pulled Phae closer toward him, releasing her hand from his and embracing her in a long hug. Holding her there for a moment, Price finally lowered his head, planting a quick kiss on her forehead, and then breaking the hug.
"Heh... see you 'round, Lucky," he said as he slowly began to saunter off towards the gate, giving her a mock-salute with his his index and middle finger as he disappeared into the school once more.
