Trevor couldn't find it in the school's library. No one seemed to have a copy. He figured he would go in search of it else where. There had to be a copy of it in the city somewhere. Trevor made his way form the academy to the city, a small quest, but one of importance none the less.
He had been to the city before, and he had a good idea where to go. There was a decent sized cafe/bookstore that was fairly popular among the travelers. Not that any of them actually took to reading, but the food was cheap and good. Trevor entered the place, and recognized due to his being part of the clan that raised him.
"Trevor! Good to see you boy! It's been a while!"
"Zen! You work here now? What happened to the clan?"
"Work here? I own this place! Bought it outright when the owner wanted to retire. As for the boys, I still see them every so often. But, I'm getting to old to travel."
"Age is only in the mind Zen. You taught me that."
"Yes, but my mind realized how old my body is!"
Trevor laughed. Zen looked at him. "So, what is the Swift Dragon doing gracing my little cafe, eh?"
"Looking for a book. The Hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy. Ever heard of it?"
"Heard of it? Boy I should smack you for that. Of course I've heard of it! It's toward the back, sci-fi section. I've got about fifteen copies."
"Thanks!"
Trevor made his way to the sci-fi section and, sure enough, there were many copies of the book he had been looking for. "Good. Now maybe I can get that joke."
He walked back to the counter. He attempted to pay for the book, but Zen wouldn't hear of it. "Boy, I will not take your money. Consider that book a gift. You save my son's life. He is still with the clan, but only because of you. That book is the least I can do."
"Aw, Angel would have been fine. Besides, the fight was fun!" He bowed, his body moving fluid. "Thank you for the book Zen." He made his way to a nearby table, and Zen only laughed.
"That boy hasn't changed a bit."

The Dragon Song Cafe was a bookstore as well one that Kheldar had a membership card to and that he nearly always went to to burn his time when he had free time. Sure he slept more often with Jade keeping an eye on him but, now and then he'd go and visit the city to burn some time when Jade was during her thing. After all twas wise not to interrupt a vampire when she was busy with something. Kheldar drifted through the streets one book in hand covered by a book cover as he casually reading it. He even weaved through the press of the crowd that surrounded the streets at this hour. True it was odd to see Kheldar out at this hour but, the manuals he had pre-ordered had finally arrived and he wasn't about to let them go past him.
Crackle...
He turned the page and gave a small smirk at what he was reading as he opened the door to the establishment and entered the store to which he already had an account with. Sure he had some padding thanks to Jade on his wallet but, he tried to stay with the pension the Academy had been slowly increasing as he gained more experiance bit by bit now that he was an active student. They were well aware that he needed more money and supplies as he grew in strength. He heard voices talking the proprieter's voice behind the counter different. Much different. He paused in his reading and looked up seeing a different man talking to a young man who carried daggers.
"I see things have changed since I was last here," Kheldar murmured as he pulled out two cards. The first was his ID and the second was his Membership card showing that he already had a prepaid tab set up here as well as the discounts from being a long-time shopper of this place. Interesting enough there was no last name on his ID.
"I'm here to pick up my order that I had on reserve." Khel said softly as someone ducked into the back and placed the package on the counter having recognized Kheldar. He was short really not even five and a half feet in height his raven hair short and well-kept suggesting a strict background. The tone in some ways dry and cynical.
Maybe I'll go out more often...
Or just not be worried.

Zen took a look at the cards. He was still getting used to the file system, but all the other employees knew what they were doing, so he let them do the work. He just interacted with the customers, rang people up, and Made sure the orders rand smooth. There than that, his job was easy.
"Ah, you must be Kheldar. The former owner told me about you. You tend to order a good deal from us. I am please to meet you. My name is Zen. I am the new owner of the Dragon Song Cafe. As a welcome gift to a long time customer, whatever you order today is on the house."
Zen was a kind man. However, it hid the fact that he was an expert in the field when it came to battle. He was the groups strategist, as well as an experienced fighter. His was proficient with the ax, as well as large fire arms for larger battles. His day with the clan were over, however, and he had settled down to a quiet life behind the counter of his favorite stop. He was now the new owner, and he couldn't be happier.
Trevor noticed the new boy come in, but had only glanced up. He had taken to reading his book, hoping the joke about 42 was close to the beginning. He had been anxious to know what was so funny, and he was closer than ever to finding the answer. "Maybe I should just skip ahead a bit. Skim through it. But what if it is an ongoing joke?" He was talking to himself quietly. He let out a sigh, and decided to just read the book form the start. "Well, I'll come across it sooner or later."

"You're most generous Master Zen, I'd like a copy of 'Magicite Crystals: A Legacy' if you have it in stock. And I'd also like to have a light meal hear of a mocha late, a rueben sandwich, and an iced green tea. Not much I realize but, sometimes the simpler things are the most appreciated," Kheldar said with a small smile at the owner as he felt someone else watching him namely the one who had just purchase The Hitch Hiker's Guide. It was a good book really and the humor in it definantly took some intelligence to understand. British humor really was abstract at times and you really had to look at it from a different angle to better understand the crazyness that was involved. But, that was the way with things some books humors were just harded to understand. Khel made no issue of it.
He has the looks of a warrior...
Yet he's avidly into book-reading...
Wierd...
"Just giving glances and no verbal wordings to them is considered suspicious in some areas you know," Kheldar murmrued at Trevor as he accepted the bag with his orders in it ready to head to the cafe himself.

"Absolutely. The book is in stock, and I actually have a few copies under the desk here." He grabbed the book and gave him a voucher for his food. "I hope to see you again soon." He watched the boy leave the counter. Interesting lad. And a most interesting selection of reading material. Ah, to have my youth back, I'd probably be just like them. Love to read... that's why I bought this shop Zen was lost in his thoughts as he began remembering his past with the clan.
The boy spoke to Trevor as he approached, and Trevor only looked up and smiled. "I apologize. Your presence caught my attention. You have a unique energy about you, and I couldn't help but look up. But, I couldn't dwell too much on it. I am trying to figure something out, and the answer is in this book. Sorry if I came off as suspicious or rude. It was completely unintentional."
He gave a small bow with his head, and took to skimming the book, quickly looking for any sign of the joke about 42. You are in here somewhere, I know it!
