Mantis glanced up, interested, though it didn't show on his face. Clutching his right hand was a small eight-year-old girl who was looking around in astonishment. She'd never been in a city before, and Babylos was an astounding sight. There was a rather dull expression on the young mans face despite all the tall buildings and odd people. "Wow, this place is huge!" Julie said, raising her voice in emphasis on the 'huge'.
"Yea...It is. I wonder where this...Arcane Academy is." The bug manipulator said, strolling along at a slow pace while his 'sister' kept up at a quick walk. The pair walked along for a while, occasionally peering into a shop. One had a display of weapons, another jewlry. Yet another had a row of books on various styles of magic.
As they continued walking about rather aimlessly, light wispy clouds lolled overhead, catching Julie's eye. Every so often, a butterfly would drift over to the pair and land on the small girls nose. They had been given the suggestion by the young man and Julie would giggle and put her right hand up for the small insect to walk onto. She, ever since she came to live with her 'brother', had come to love bugs as a whole and enjoyed playing with the ones Mantis called.
After a while, the small girl looked back up at the sky, and inadvertantly walked right into someone on the sidewalk. "Oop...Sorry." Came her tiny voice, directed at the person she'd walked into.

Nce day out today. Perfect for a bit of a stroll Thought Jason as he wandered aimlessly through the city. Jason loved it in the city. The crowds and the variety there was. Particularaly in this city. He had on his normal attire (Stuff in sig) and as normal while in the city his staff was resting on his right shoulder.
It was then someone bumped into him. Jason turned and looked down seeing a small girl standing there. H smiled as she apoloized. "Hey don't worry about it. These things happen. Be a little more careful though. not everyone is as nice as myself. I'm Jason. Who are you?" he asked

Julie blushed a little, "I'm Julie. This is my big brother." She said, stopping. Being at such a slow pace, the small jerk on his hand was enough to have Mantis come to a stop and look over at this Jason person. His solemn looking green and hazel eyes scanned over the guy. He nodded in recognition and simply stood there, waiting for Julie to finish.
As it was probably already obvious, Mantis wasn't the most friendly guy. Aside from Julie and Mark back on earth, the young man really didn't speak with people. If conversation was struck, he'd speak briefly, but was mostly reserved to let others do the talking. Jason looked to be about the same age as Mantis, but not knowing how old you were kind of killed that sort of measurement.
Julie smiled and gripped Mantis' hand, contented with just about how any thing turned out as long as it was nothing to an adverse or harmful effect.

"Nice to meet you Julie" He said still smiling then looked up to her brother giving a customary nod in greeting. "Nice to meet you as well." he said and put one end of his staff on the ground and used it for something to lean on a bit just to relax. "If you don't mind me saying you seem a bit new and also a bit lost. I'm kinda new to the area myself but if it's something major you are looking for than I can help you find it." he said. Jason once more was showing that he liked helping others out and also the fact that even if he wasn't some mind reader he was rather perceptive.

Julie's smile broadened abit and she began to rock back and forth on her heels, absentmindedly. "We're looking for Arcane Academy, actually." Mantis said in a rather blank tone, his voice none too deep or too high pitched. Physically, there was nothing special about the bug manipulator. It was when he delved into his...Abilities, that things got weird.
If this Jason person could tell them where the school was, the two would simply go there, and register themselves with the academy. Mantis would probably be the only one to enroll as Julie was only eight years old, maybe when she was twelve or so, she'd join. Other wise she just seemed all around too young to be in the academy.

"Oh the Academt. Yeah that won't be a problem. i go there myself actually." he said with a grin. "It's not hard to find once you know where it is really but with a place this size I can see the difficulties you might be having." he said then gave them some easy to follow directions. "If you want I go come along just to show you a few shortcuts. But if not thats okay to." he said with a small shrug and took a second to look around the city,
"Oh yeah and another things. you'de probably want to know where to resgister." he said and told them the quickest way to get to where they needed once in the Academy.

Mantis listened to the directions and called over a couple of butterflys, mentally, to entertain Julie while they spoke. She giggled to herself and played around with her little friends. Having a bug manipulator for an older brother had its advantages when you like bugs. The young man nodded at the finished directions and went to walk that way when Jason spoke again.
"Right...Thanks." Mantis said at the location of the registry. "We're in no hurry so it doesn't really matter if we take a short-cut or not." He finished and waited for a response before following the other man or walking his own way down the side walk with Julie and her little winged companions.

Jason figured he wouldn't push things. his guy was polite enough for the most part but it was clear he really didn't seem to want Jason's company at the moment. Jason didn't really mind. He wasn't exactly thrilled about it but he wasn't insulted or anything. he knew that he wouldn't be friends with everyone. "Well it was nice meeting you. I guess I'll see you around the Academy at a later point." he said with a small shrug. He gave a small wave then hefted his staff back to rest on his shoulder then went about his aimless walk glad to have been able to help someone out a bit.
