Now, normally, Tristan enjoyed a good fight, but he'd lost a taste for training by himself. Even with Igneus, it was dull just learning new techniques and spells. The six foot three hunter stood deep in a wooded area of the training ground. He was in a small clearing, only about big enough for Igneus to move around comfortably. All the surrounding trees looked old, very old, but not quite old enough for it to stop Tristan from blowing them to hell as best he could with any new spells he could come up with.
He had three of ten known elements, some elemental mage huh? Fire, air, spirit. Thats what Tristan had specific spells for. Sure he had his flight and other techniques that combined various elements, both ones he knew well and those he hardly knew at all, but he only had three specific elements that had spells for solitary usage.
Igneus was laying down over by the pile of seven books. There were ten to complete the set, Teo, or wind, was back with the owner as Tristan had finished. Seol, spirit, as well. Tristan's other element was natural to him, so the owner of the books suggested that he take Igna, fire, with him so as to learn an ancient spell of every element. Right now, Tristan had in his hands, the reason there were seven in the pile instead of eight, the book labeled Irai, or light, in orcish...or perhaps it was actually elven...Eh, who cares?
This was the book of holy and light element, and Tristan had decided that, being the hunter that he was, something to aid in combating the undead would be a damn good idea. He'd sat himself down, with Shireiutz over by the tree with Igneus and the other books, in more or less the dead center of the clearing. He began to thumb through the book, his brain firing off responsive synapses to recognizing the language.
Tristan quietly, in his deep voice, sounded off the odd word in orc, an iritating language to speak for those without tusks, even more so for those with higher pitched voices, as he blew through the passages. He finally found a spell he liked, and with an affirmative grunt of sorts, stood, book in his left hand with the right hand pointed toward a tree. Staring at the text, describing the spell, he focused his energy accordingly and invisioned a ball of light forming at each of his fingertips. "Iraitune." He said in a low voice. Instead of just his fingertips, a ball of radiant light appeared in his palm as well as each armored finger.
Tristan cursed himself for having done something wrong, most likely having pronounced the tune part as 'tune' instead of 'to-nay' or something like that. The ball shot forward, followed by brilliant streams of light that swirled around it. There was a slight trail from the main ball, but other than that it was that of a meteor of holy energy, engulfed by a swirling tail. It moved at great speeds, almost as great as what Tristan could acomplish using his double time spell.
The Iraitune crashed into the tree and began to bore a hole in the bark. Seeing what his spell was doing, Tristan fed it a bit more energy and the speed of its whirling increased greatly. With that the ball began to dig faster and faster into the flesh of the tree. It was a drill of light instead of five beams of light. Tristan had inadvertantly discovered a variation on a basic spell of the Irai book, and cracked himself a grin about it.
He had himself a new spell and cut off its energy supply before it blew through this first tree and sought out more along a bee-line path. The ball faded, as did the swirling beams, Tristan walked over to the pile of books and plopped Irai down in a separate one. "Next." He mumbled to himself, looking at the 'unlearned' pile, and trying to pick what element to go for.
