It was a cool clear night at the training grounds with a full moon and a clear sky showing the stars in all their glory and in one spot a lone figure could be seen working out with his weapon. Jason was practicing different strikes with his staff. He wanted to keep in shape and he found staff fighting fun due to all the different ways to wield the weapon. Particularly since he was good and shifting his grips on the weapon to open more attack and defense possibilities.
His long hair was tied back as usual and he wore blue jeans with a large grey hoodie over his white shirt. His movements were fluid showing that he knew how to handle his weapon. But none of the moves were fancy. He found the fancy stuff to be useless. Never make a move that has no real purpose for thats when you're gonna lose. He thought spinning on his heel bringing the staff around for a thrusting motion and though he didn't activate his magic he knew that making the energy blade erupt from one end could give him a serious advantage.
He continued going through his weapon forms for a while. If someone approached he'd be more than glad to talk with them for a sec. But unless they were here to train with him the conversation wouldn't last long.

Chephros walked through the halls again, finding the training grounds with relative ease. The day before he had come to the school after a rather interesting experience with Millarce, the vampiress on the council of the Blood Society. Chephros had recently joined their group, and was now an emissary. He got the fun of finding out things about the place and the students, and then reporting back on his findings. He was to learn and study both the lessons, for himself, and the culture, for the group. However he had marked the training grounds the day before because he figured he would be coming here quite a bit. Of course, he expected it to have people in it quite often as well.
The night was cool, not exactly warm but not exactly cold either. Walking through the place his only slightly enhanced senses picked up movement, by the shuffle of footwork. A person was practicing at this time of night. It was almost like that time on earth when he fought for a few moments with that person. Smirking, he figured he might have another fight on his hands just from his appearance, but then he realized once again where he was. The Academy normally accepted all races and that made Chephros distrust them all the more. Without being a Blood Society Emissary, the demon never would have come here. He hated most other races too much for that.
Getting relatively close to the area itself, he called out to figure out, by voice response, what it was that was training. Each race that knew the common language often left a distinct accent in their voice and so they could easily be identified. "Hey!" It was a basic greeting, and he walked slightly slowly now. He was close to actually being in the open space and so he waited for a response before appearing through a doorway into the area.

Jason stopped in mid-swing hearing a voice. he rested the staff over his shoulder turning to face the direction the voice came from. He didn't really see much but considering he didn't have any type of night vision he wasn;t surprised. There was also the fact that the person calling out might simply be hidden from veiw overall.
Jason decided the best thing to do was to respond in kind and see who it was adressing him. "Hey there. Wherever you are. Thanks for saying something. I would have felt bad whacking a person wanting to say hi upside the head by accident if they just walked up to me." He called back with a shrug. He figured he'd introduce himself and see if that helped spur an appearance. "Name's Jason by the way."

Walking forward into view of the starlight/moonlight as soon as 'Jason responded with the 'hey' part of his two sentences, Chephros reveled in the odd darkness of the night. His tail, with impenetrable black fog that covered a soul crystal and made it seemingly invulnerable, swished back and forth. One touch from said fog would seem as if you were touching the center of an iceberg, which would be one of the coldest things imaginable. His wings unfolded slightly, he stretched them, then they refolded along his back. They disappeared basically. However, the one thing that really stuck out where the modified katars that were now wrist blades. They were damn near impossible to break, and incredibly light. Not to mention sharp.
"I'm Chephros, an Emissary from the Blood Society." He said this evenly, without any speck of anger in his voice. True, he hated humans, but he was going to challenge this one to a fight anyway, so why not simply be calm right now? Flexing his claws, or rather his fingers that now ended in claws, and then opening them and letting them hang down like normal Chephros simply figured another sentence was required, but he altered the subject a bit. "Do students always practice in the dead of night?"

Whoa a demon. Or something like it. Interesting. Jason thought his mind alert with curiousity. He wondered what the Blood Society was. he had the feeling it had to do with Vamires or some such thing. "Well I'm not sure how many practice at this time. I'm rather new here. I just love the view with the moon and the stars and all." he said with a smile and a shrug.
"So Chephros what is the Blood Society?' he asked with his voice full of curiousity. he didn't fail to notice the claws as this guy seemed ready for combat. jason tensed his arm and tighted his grip on his staff. he wasn't in a threatening pose but he was battle ready in case the guy wasn't interested in talking a bit before the fight.

"Frankly, I don't know. All I know is it's the reason i'm here and thats good enough for me." Noting the muscle tension in Jason's arms he figured the boy was ready to fight as well, or at least on the edge of his nerves and hoping he wasn't killed. Standing there, Chephros titled his head back and looked at the moon. The white orb filled his eyes and seemed to change the color from pale green to literal white. It blinded him for a few moments, seeing as it was all he was looking at and it was incredibly white, but then he looked back down at Jason.
"So, I take it your practicing for the future. How about a fight then? Actual combat experience is much better than hitting air." He smirked. Practicing on nothing was a waste of energy as it really didn't provoke opportunities for ingenuity. With someone else fighting, people could think of moves to counter yours and then you were placed on the hot seat very quickly as your own attacks turned against you. An actual struggle was a much better teacher than a simple workout.

Jason shrugged at the explaination. he'd just reaserch it when he got to the library later. he did give a grin at the metion of a challenge. "Alright then. Any particular rules. The only thing i'm iffy about is te killing part. I don't like the idea of killing if it isn't needed." He said while putting his staff into a spin and shifted his grip so his left hand was in the center. One end of the staff was pointed outwards and down to the ground while the other was against his back angeld to the right and his right hand came up with his hand open and palm facing Chephros.

"Sure, i'll let you live. It might be fun to see how you cope with my power in the future." While he didn't have much, he was prideful of what he did have. As Jason got ready, so did he. His left arm came up, wrist blade ever close in front of his hand, and then his right arm came up in the same pattern. They formed an X in front of his chest with the blades extending the lines on the top portion. This however wasn't the point. Chephros' hands were seemingly gripping something and his arms abruptly tensed then. Chaos flowed from his body to his hands and formed the two kodachis that fit his hands perfectly.
Twisting the blades around, he held it so that instead of using it like a dagger, where if you held the blade at your side it pointed forward, he used it like an assassin's blade, where it would point behind him. Chephros of course, wouldn't give Jason any more time to prepare. He came forward, pushing off with the powerful strides he had, and his arms blasted out anyway. They came down to his sides as he barely moved an inch forward and his right arm pulled back farther. When he was close, he shot it forward in a stabbing motion so the wrist blade would jab forward. Without any weapons it basically would have been a simple lunging jab.

"I'll let you live" Not particularaly comforting to hear. Sounds like he has skill. Or is plain cocky. but i'm willing to guess it's the formor of the two. Jason thought and raised an eyebrow seeing the weapons appear.
He waited for Chephros to come in and make his move before reacting. His counter was to step to his left and swing the lowered end of his staff upwards and to the right to parry the blow away. it was more of a guiding motion then a clash of weapons so even though Jason wasn't really strong he would be able to pull it off unless of course his defense was countered. if his counter went through hi would use the force of his swing to once more shift his grip letting the other end of his staff follow a similar path but instead he would aim for Chephros' head.

The staff deflected his right claw, guiding it past, but that was to be expected. Smirking, Chephros pulled his left arm forward. This blade would, if it his, graze Jason's rib cage. As this came in, Chephros flicked his right wrist. This would send the kodachi flying out, aimed for Jason's arm. The blade would fling past, possibly cutting in a little, then simply fade out. Once that happened the other Kodachi would disappear as well. He could have made it go on for a longer amount of time but didn't feel like it. He had other tricks to use.
See, his moves were designed to use the openings people gave him, and use them quickly. His attacks weren't really meant to start off hitting. He truly was a countering person but that left holes in his defenses as well. One can't counter without another counter to be used. People didn't often see these moves though. Since the staff was out of the way to block the right arm, the left arm had an opening. If that was blocked, the knife had a clear opening as well. If the blade his the left side then the knife would as well. Once these went through, Chephros would shift his left foot, with toe claws ending that as well, to where the outer edge of it slid along the ground towards Jason.
A shockwave would erupt from that, further draining Chephros, but most likely forcing Jason back a bit. then Chephros would leap up and forward, and come down with both wrist blades diagonally aimed inward. If they looked like they would hit, he would stop them.

Heh Nice try. Jason thought as a green disk of energy appeared from hsi right hand blocking the attack from Chephros' left hand while a burst of energy came from the soles of his feet letting him rocket about ten feet back.
He grinned and made an inviting motion with his right hand. The meaning was clear. 'Brign it on.' Jason had already shifted his staff back to it's starting position from when the batel started. he was already prepeared for Chephros to come at him. All he had to do was waiit to see which way the guy came in for the attack.

The disk blocked the attack, but as Jason shot backwards Chephros charged forward. He literally glided, using his wings as well. Putting his arms out in front of him, his wrist blades came together to meet at the same point. They formed an angle then, six points coming together to meet relatively at one. This would of course be blocked, but then there was the matter of his tail. It was coming from behind him, using both the momentum of the flight and its own force, to slam forward. Under normal circumstances, the soul crystal inside would be incredibly weak. However the fog covering it seemed to somehow protect it.
This would arc forward and attempt to slam into Jason's ribs, moving around any staff blocks that Jason tried to use on the katars. Both attacks would hit at about the same time, the tail coming only about a half second later, and thus normally only one could be blocked. That green disk of energy may have protected Jason once, but if he tried a one handed block to the wrist blades Cheph wore then he would be outpower and his own staff would most likely smack him as it was forced back. If he used both hands then his tail would hit him. If he tried dodge rolling he would most likely be hit by the tail coming in.
Edit: Lets say my energy is down to 8

Crap Thought Jason swing his staff up to let his right hand grab it as well. he had also let it slide through his left hand so he was holding it closer to each end letting the center block the incoming attack. he saw the tail coming in and braced himself to leap back with it. He felt it slam into him and felt extremely cold as well. but he did manage to move with it.
While being sent back he let go with his right hand and had his palm face the demon. His fingers curled as if holding a ball and a bright flash erupted. Unless Chephros had some form of resistance he would be blinded for a few seconds as a beam of green energy shot out at Chephros with enough power to blast him out off course if it hit.
Jason would once more use a blast from the soles of his feet. but this time it would be to rush AT his foe. His elft hand still had one end of the staff while the right hand grabbed a spot near the middle and when in range he would swing it to attempt to bring it across the demon's face. If Chephros was effected by the blinding light then he would be able to see by the time Jason had brought his staff in for a strike.

Feeling a sensation of satisfaction as his tail his his opponent's chest, Chephros stopped and dropped, touching the ground again. His tail hit had taken a good bit of his momentum and he was only gliding, not fully flying, so stopping was easy. Jason however had his hand as if he was clutching something, and then a light flashed. Shutting his eyes at the first sign of the light he managed to be only slightly blinded, seeing wispy shapes.
Something was coming at him and he knew it was Jason. He placed his arms in front of them and his vision finally returned to see that it was in fact Jason, moving forward faster than normal. Smirking, he had an idea. His arms dropped to his middle and then went out as if to clamp onto something. He would grab the middle of Jason, around his stomache, and then slam foreheads together, very very hard. How was this possible with a staff coming at his face? Well, Chephros waited until the staff was very close then used his Death Spike ability. It drained a good deal of his physical energy, as well as some of his mental, and created a patch of spikes from his cheek which shot out and intercepted the staff.
The growth force would take some of it, then the rest would cause Chephros' head to turn a bit. Not enough to deter him though. This would also put Jason in range to be grabbed. If the stomach grab didn't work, then Chephros would still be moving forward and would instead hook his arms up around Jason's armpits and hold him that way while he slammed his forehead forward to hit Jason in the head.

Not a bad block really. Guess I'll have have to change plans . Thought Jason seeing his beam being blocked. He shifted the staff's position as he came in. It was still a swinging motion but he swung it before getting to Chephros seeing that he was blasted back far enough to do so and now the end of the staff not in his grip was facing Chephros. He channeld his energy into the end of he pole as it came in. The green energy blade was aimed for Chephros' shoulder.
And with roughly four feet between them due to his staff's reach a melee counter from his foe was more or less out of the question if the attack hit. Jason left little option for his foe except to defend himself or move out of the way. This was one reason Jason's weapon of choice was the staff. it offered the ability to change his defense and attacks according to how he needed to at almost any given moment. His chest was still aching a bit from the blow from the tail though. he wondered if there were going to be any after effects.
