I thought of letting him evolve in either of two ways, depending on how people react to him. If he's well received, as I'm sure he will be, then he'll learn to live with what he has become and retain his sanity. If not, then he becomes tuly obsessed with his studies, embracing his eccentricity, and eventually going insane.
