Blitzball! (If someone doesn't know the game, then This might help.) Was doing a post when it struck me, we need some sort of sport here, any sport. Something that we can use stats for. You must admit, with stats then it is much easier to handle that sort of things rather than statless where people might godmod. It's simple, the 3 stats that counts are DEX, STR, and END. (Or else some new stats made for this, just not something that goes against your normal stats completely. Like low STR in normal RP, but extremely strong shot or something.) And why not blitzball? Simple football or American football is too plain for us super magic users. Some magic to make the players able to breathe underwater, some magic to keep the large globe of water intact. Some sort of enchantment that would automatically have the ball go to the middle of the globe if no team is in control of the ball or rather have it float where it was lost, and randomly shoot the ball to either side in the start of the game or after a goal. Would give some sort of team competition…

Y'know, it's not a bad idea, you Angry Man, You. (MAN, I'm funny.)
I've said at least once before that Blitzball was the only worthwhile part of FFX anyway. And the stats we use WOULD make it easier than a non-stat-board.
My only problem is this: Since we ARE a magic school, quite a few of us have rather low physical stats, and I'm just afraid that would deter a lot of people from wanting to join, making the actual member rate for the team pretty low.
If we could use more of the stats (If not all of them) during the blitzball game, it might be easier for the physicall weaker students to join.
However, I think we should make a new game, not just blitzball. And not Quidditch, either. Blitzball was popular because of the watery area the people lived in... we live in the air, it just doesn't really fit. Plus I don't like the idea of ripping that hard off FFX.

Well, like Xeryth said perhaps we can use Int and Wis and Eng for some stats instead.
Perhaps the field we play on could take our stats and we could play a version of blitzball but in the air. Like Volleyball almost and the field could transfer our eng into psychic energy and we could toss the ball around that way.
Just an idea..

*Gives Xeryth the award for making the easy jokes on an easy name, the one that guessed the true meaning of the name gets a cookie... With pain on it.*
And what lacks in the air? Water, and people always travel far distances to see something spectacular, so why not a massive globe of water flying in the air? (Just make sure the air traffic isn't around to fly into the water)
And blitzball was one of the fun things about FFX...
Rough layout...
ENG = How long you can swim... DEX = How fast you do the things... STR = How hard you tackle/kick/pass... INT = How quickly you notice the stupidity in being in a globe of water that is seemingly hanging in the air. WIS = How many 'tackles' or something you know... END = How many tackles you can handle...
And I did say something like these stats, just different, every word counts... Just can't think of any good at the moment. Just thought I would bring up the idea, and some sort of tournament that didn't involve people beating the living crap out of everyone...
And just flying in the air would remove some of the 'magic' involved in the game, blitzball is simple and easy to get working on since the rules are already made (there are practically none)

That's all good, but it also leaves the main stats being END DEX and STR. To add some flavor to it (well, more flavor to it), why not enable the use of spells. Maybe have something like protective spells around the players, so spells can't be used offensively, but only to manipulate the field and such.

I like Celeste's idea, but, I'm going to try expanding on it, maybe... iono..
Strength: Higher Percentage that Goal Shots/Passes Make It Dexterity: .. How fast you are. XD Endurance: How many hits you can take before you fumble the ball..? Wisdom: Applicable to goalies or interceptors of the ball, trying to catch it. Intelligence: How many techniques you can learn? Energy: X 100, and, that would be the equivlanet of Blitz Ball's HP, I guess..
If anything, it could be a mix of the two of Quiddich with the 'Goals', and have people floating in the air, 'ala blitzball, around kicking/throwing a ball around trying to throw/shoot goals.
Edit: Ah.. Angra got to it, before me. XD

I was just thinking about it. How can you say the idea isn't stolen from FF X when it is in-fact from the game you mentioned and you knew full well about it? Just wondering.

Simply by writing it actually, then I can say it...
But the 'SO' part of the Subject name should have you think, hopefully, that I wasn't being serious and the fact that the entire thread is about that one sport should maybe give you a clue that I wasn't being serious in the subject name... Just maybe.
