When Lucifer was cast from heaven many angels had been cast down as well, but not all went to hell with him; some were caught between on the earth, one of these angels was Alexander. Alexander had a sword forged during the alliance of heaven and hell by an angel, making that sword one of the nearly 113 Relics of Ancient Heaven; but once used to seal away a weapon of great power it became just as tainted and dangerous as a Relic of the Ancient. It was nearly identical if it weren’t for the tinge more divine power in it (There are 83 Relics of the Ancient, these were made during the alliance by both an angel and a demon. These contain half the power of heaven, half the power of hell, and it therefore had its power halved during the break of the treaty). As such, almost no demon or angel could wield it, but being caught in the middle grounds meant that Alexander was exempt from the rule which would have otherwise restrained him from using that “Relic”. It was found impaled into an anvil underwater that sealed away the relic which changed it, but Alexander wasn’t interested in the one sealed away, he only wanted the sword. The other relic was released to travel east of the Atlantic to an unknown country, and where it ended up was of no concern to Alexander.
Holding the sword he did he sought to bring it with him to hell if that hadn’t meant he wouldn’t be able to wield it, so he decided to keep it until his entrance to hell, at which point he would leave it behind. Before he got half way, the sword seemed to take a life of its own. It knew what Alexander planned to do, and without the power of the other relic which it used to sustain itself and without the power of a host body it would die as would any other relic. Despite the fact that it was an imposter, it gained a life of its own from that which it sealed away, growing an eyeball in the center of the cross guard and covering the guard, hilt and pommel in a leathery, sand-colored skin.
It couldn’t allow Alexander to leave it for dead, so it decided to possess him for a while, collecting souls to give it the power it had before being tainted. It never regained full power, for Alexander took back over when they closed in on the stone gate into hell. As he walked in he was confronted by a priest, who told him to hand the sword over and surrender himself to the mercy of God. He explained that he used that sword to seal away the instrument that sunk Atlantis. He said he would take the sword back and kill Alexander regardless of whether he came willingly or not, but said he would finish him off quickly if he gave in. He explained that he would purify the blade and re-seal the Relic of the Ancient that got away. The two fought, needless to say.
Alexander was fatally wounded, but in his last strike, he nailed the priest to the stone gate and his soul passed on to be judged by Satan. The sword, however, was going to die within two days. It would have been less if it wasn’t feeding off the priest’s blood. Mathias had run into this blade and was overcome with joy at finding his first relic. The sword glared at Mathias, it thought he wanted to hurt or kill it for his own gain like the other two, but it was surprised when Mathias left, coming back with a live rabbit for the sword to suckle life from. He pulled it out once it regained its strength and stability and the two formed a bond.
The sword later told Mathias that it wasn’t a “true” relic, but seeing Mathias’ disappointment in his failure; it told him it knew of a real relic which was nearby –judging from the spike of power only gained by a relic that was in the midst of collecting souls. Mathias soon learned, to his shock, that the relic which sunk an entire island was a guitar!!!
