Well, for those of you into fragging your opponents with some pretty bitching arsenals, look no further! For those of you who don't know, BF2 (Battle Field 2) is a fast-paced FPS game, made by EA/Dice, set in the near future. A sort of World War 3 what-if scenario sees you playing with up to 63 others as either the American Marines, Chinese PLA, or Middle Eastern MEC forces vying for control of various strategic points across a variety of theaters. Later expansions and boosters bring the Russian Spetsnaz, British SAS, Navy SEALs, and EU forces into play as well. With a good selection of well made, customized, fan-made mods out there as well, BF2 is a great FPS selection.

I know FPS Doug said that, but he has been affectionately dubbed "CS Freak" by members of the BF2 community. Why you ask? Simple, the CS fags have been migrating to our game en masse and have been making complaints about game mechanics to EA, which has led to a series of ultra-shit patches. It's a widely known fact to the BF2 community that the only good CS fan is a fragged one.

In spite of this, I chose to quote FPS Doug/CS Freak, because his "Boom, head-shot!!" line is a very popular meme for all FPS players.

Ouch, as a CS player/fan myself, I'm quite hurt that we've become apparently so hated on BF2. I've tried BF2 I just could never quite get into it, don't know why exactly but yea I've been sticking with CS and DoD for around two years now.

Don't get me wrong man, CS is a good game, but the focus is completely different from BF2's. I generally don't have anything against CS players on a personal level, but many others do. The only thing I recognize as an act of griefing towards us is the constant whining to EA to make shitty, small urban maps and to constantly modify the weapons and "nerf" vehicles. Hell, I believe the Infantry Only mode introduced in patch 1.4 was because of avid CS players unable to adjust to BF2's style of play.

But so far that's just unsubstantiated rumor as far as I'm concerned. If you ever decide to give BF2 another try, look me up.

Yea I can understand why BF2 players would get annoyed with CS players influencing the game. They are two fundamentally different games, CS is a lot of close quarters firefights between small squads whereas BF2 is larger maps with larger teams and requires a lot more coordination and planning to incorporate vehicles and what not.

Anyways I have played a bit of BF2, but im not a fan. What I really want is for 2142 to come out, then i'll get back into it.

My thoughts exactly, if we can't be united by creed, religion, race, or location then lets at least be united in our mutual enjoyment of blowing the hell out of someone else via a computer.

Junpei, I'll say this once, this is a general board, post count does not rise as a result of posts here. There are other topics with posts that are just as equally, if not more, off-topic than the ones here. Go troll somewhere else. You need to not jump other people's shit, okay?

Also, BF 2142 has been out for about a week or two from what I understand. My clan has been playing on their own ranked server for about that long. I know for a fact you can grab it via EALink (EA's purchase-through-internet service), but I don't know any details on store availability. I'd assume it's stocked in most vendors, but you never know these days.

Word on the street is that Battle Walkers > Tanks in BF 2142.

Yes, it's available now, I just don;t have any cash, and my Video Card sucks since i well, lack cash. Also, yes the walkers are the tanks, from what I heard from Beta to Alpha, they are hard as hell to control to. The troop transport is supposed to be an ungodly new advantage, so are the helicopters. Quite frankly that game rips all others to shreds.

Yeah, I've heard stories about Mechs Vs. Tanks. I don't have it either right now, but I plan to get it soon, so I can join my clan mates on-line and rip some people a few new ones.

More to the topic at hand though, what's your opinion on Helicopter Vs. Jet aerial combat? I find that the most effective method of countering a fixed-wing air craft is to fly high and solo, and pump a TOW into his cockpit as he attempts to strafe me. Rolls and loops help a lot, since movement seems to really throw most would-be pilots off.
