Hi everyone.
I'm thinking about making a new character. The problem is that I've thought up a few different kind of magics that might be cool to use and I can't decide which to go with. So I'm going to ask you! I'll just write a quick description of each plus a few sample spells to find out what you guys think.
So without further ado.
Philosomancy:
A complex magic form split into many types. Though it can really encompass more then just philosophy thats the most common root. A few chosen people are born with the ability to learn Philosomancy and are restricted to a single school at first. However, if one Philosomancer beats another then the winner can absorb the losers power. There's an ancient legend that if any single Philosomancer can gather every bit of Philosomantic power then the world will be destroyed and re created acording to there whim. New Age Bard:
Observe the power of rock! Much like older bards, this method channels magic through music, but using a more out dated image. This character would use his/her 'ax' both to cast most spells as well for close range combat (El Cabong style).
Some sample spells:
Power cord: Not really a spell, but using it before casting another spell will greatly enhance power.
Smoke on the Water: Creates a thick smoke screen.
Great balls of fire: Pretty self explanatory.
Stairway to heaven: Summons a powerful angel to fight.
Summoning:
This character would be almost completely devoted to summoning. A pretty traditional style however, while most individuals summon spirits and creatures from this word or nearby planes this character would be a little different. He/she would summon individuals and entitys from alternate dimensions, alternate earths or other planets. this would alow him/her to summon beings such as Dominic Deegan, Fighter, Rumisil, Eve, the 7 sins, Shade Tale, Sergent Schlock, Largo's ph3er bots, and intelligent Tetris peaces.
Circle:
A traditional style, but one that nobody seems to use. And none of that BS about having a circle drawn on your body or weapon so it's circle magic. Proper circle magic where you have to draw a complete and detailed circle every time you want to use a spell. Also, a single circle is limited to a single idea and weak so if you want good spell you have to draw several circles together if you want a descent spell. Fortunately the Character would start with about 20 known circles and learn more quickly.
Some Sample Circles and a few combos:
Fire: makes a small fire in the circle.
Sphere: Creates a small ball of crystal
Launch: Throws what evers on the circle into the sky.
And Many more!
Fire+Sphere: Shoots a fireball.
Sphere+Fire: Encloses nearby firs with small airtight shields (Yes, order maters)
Fire+Sight: Lazer eyes!
Sight+Fire: Thermal Vision.
Launch+Fire+Air: Giant flaming tornado
And Many Many more!
Chaos Dance:
There aren't exactly spells for this style, instead you use one of the dances (Differing in power and slightly in nature) to infuse some random chaos magic into the local space-time. It's pretty much impossible to tell exactly whats going to happen.
