Communicators.

A point was brought up to me by one of the members and I have discussed it with The Designer. It has been decided that, IC wise, all students shall be issued communicators. Basically they're cell phones powered by magic within Babylos. Think of Babylos as a huge satellite for these communicators. For Role Playing purposes, these devices work any where on the planet except for where they are specifically blocked, such as they might be on the D-13 base.

They also work just like telephones in that you dial a number and the student with that number receives the call. Think of them as a sort of walkie-talkie/phone that is mainly used for communication during missions and such, but aren't limited to that scope.

EDIT: The following is the official description used in the terminology section of the school guide.

Communicators: These are standard communicators that have recently been issued to every student and staff member of the Academy. The original purpose behind these devices was communication between members during missions, but quickly became a general communication device for Academy mages. They generally are nothing more than cell phones, magically connected to a communications room within the island, and come in any number of varieties for sale in the city. The standard model looks like nothing more than a business model Nextel with the chirp function, but students can purchase different models as their preference sees fit.

Does this mean that you get to yell at the stupid chatty-Caths who keep tieing up the line? I can see it now:

Female student #1: "So then I was like 'whatever'. Then he said 'whatever'. Then they were all like 'whatever'? Then he so said 'whatever'!"

Female student #2: "Like. Oh, my extradimentianal entity. I can't believe that he did that."

F.s. #1: "Like totally. So then I had to use my Spell Of Whatever on him. What else could I do?"

Male student: "AAGGHHHH! Reinforcements!"

F.s. #2: "Like, what was that about?"

F.s. #1: "I don't know. So anyways, then he was like..."

I'm alergic to arcane magic, and can't use any item that uses that kind of magic.

Weakness: Alergic to all magic that comes from the city

thought: you could get an energy bypass that has gake's communicator running off of a different magic stream thats located somewhere els in the world, then from that 'satellite' it would shoot to the arcane feed and be connected with the rest of the communicators without running on the islands magic.
