I'll start a-cookin a-something-a up-a, and we'll see how it goes ^_^
*makes fresh proboard*
As it starts coming along I'll be in touch; keep lurking!
Actually, in the meantime, what things about AA would you like to see improved if a follow-up board was made? Also, if there are strong points that should be carried over, shout those out too.

I liked the stats and spell limits, as well as the bio pages.
I'd like classes to have a bit more importance though, especially for the lower down people. Missions seemed to take precedence over all, and fights/spars over classes.

Aye, the stat system is simple and effective, definitely keeping that, and the free-form biographies are incredible, probably the best partof the site in my opinion.
As far as classes go, I agree: Having 'Academy' in the title makes it seem that magical education should be first and foremost. The trick is coming up engaging interactive content for the classes. Missions are a lot easier to come up with, and people can spar on their own without having to wait for staff, so that's why things ended up that way the first time around.
I was thinking about having a lot of classes that are only for 'younger' characters, and ease them into missions as their ranks increase. That would be the general trend, but we would also have some advanced classes as well as mission slots for apprentices.
If we have enough missions and classes with decent rewards, people will be too busy/too satisfied with those to spar overly much. Not that sparring is bad, its just doesn't feel like it should be the emphasis of AA.

I like the stats too, but as far as I can see, Wisdom and Intelligence have no immediate effect. They probably do and I just missed what it was. But if they don't, I think we should either clear up which stats affect what, or simply devise a new skill system.

Intelligence basically limited how many spells you could have total. As it says in the guide, it's not 1 to 1 point wise, but I doubt you'd see someone with 10 intelligence having 20 or more spells. Possibly 10-14, or around that.
Wisdom is like your common sense and how well you predict what people will and can do. Your ability to counter maneuver, and I'd also take it as self control and your ability to learn.

Intelligence also has to do with your analytical ability; how well you can come up with plans, complicated maneuvers, and execute them in split second decisions.
The beauty of the Wisdom stat is that you can make it mean what you want it to mean. Your character might need a stat that concerns gut feelings and instinctual behavior, and voila, wisdom works for that. You might need a stat that describes how well you can predict movement and trajectories, or understand things on deeper levels, and wisdom works there too. If you want to have a character who can learn an opponent's combat style during a fight through observation, the ease with which they can do that would be wisdom too. In short, wisdom means what you need it to mean for your character's strategy.
I've thought a lot about it, and I can't really come up with any other categories to add, or any to remove. Maybe a seperate stat for strength and force of spells besides an Energy count, and a straight up health bar, but that's kinda pushing it. Charisma strikes me as useless; people like you or they dont because of how you behave, not because of a stat.

Which is why Charisma isn't on this board...
Energy would be spell strength. It was never meant to be a measure of how many spells you could cast, but rather the collective strength of your strongest. I'd say Endurance would figure into how many you could cast, higher endurance more spells, but also your background, race, type of magic, and everything would go into a non-existant mana pool. You're not going to cast a nuke spell multiple times in a row, but you're not going to be stopped after...ten lightning bolts or something.

That makes better sense to me, treating energy Energy that way...and looking back in the rules, that's the way it was supposed to be viewed, you're right.
A few players were using it completely wrong back in the day, I guess that had me confused. Maybe we should come up with a better word instead of energy to prevent confusion. That, or people could be expected to actually read the information section...now that would be awful of us...[/sarcasm]
And yup, no charisma on here, thank the maker ^_^

I was one of the people who used it the wrong way. It took Designer/Auroth telling me what it was supposed to be used for for me to understand it. I haven't forgotten that.
You could use Spellpower as one or two words instead of Energy.

Sounds good. I can't think of anything better. Well, I suppose we could drop it to just 'Power,' but people might get it confused with strength.

Unless you wanted to make it even longer and go with Power(Physical) and Power(Magical).
Also, get on AIM, we can randomly discuss ideas.

I'd just put it as "Spell Power".
Also, I'm happy to be aboard the new board as a teacher. Roy has never been happier.
