Appearance:
When it comes to body, Nathan seems to have little volume. His baggy style of clothing belies his true form, which is toughened up from lots of activity, especially soccer. A bit on the tall side, he looks lanky, and even a bit sickly. Nathan's face goes well with whatever sort of emotion he's feeling, and will easily tell his true feelings. Light blue eyes are a main draw of his face, the rich color detracting from his other features. Even his hair, which is a dull shade of blonde, fails to attract as much attention as his eyes do. He has let a thin tail of hair grow long enough that it's bound together with small bands and can easily hang over his shoulder.
Nathan has one general style of clothing. His common clothing is a simple long-sleeve shirt with a baggy feel to it, and a matching pair of similarly baggy slacks or cargo pants. But the real item of note is the black vest he wears that hides so many of his items. His typical colors are black, green, and white. When he's playing soccer, he'll wear a red tee-shirt and a pair of black shorts that don't quite reach his knees.
Personality:
Despite a massive reputation for being another hot-headed pyromaniac, Nathan is a calm, usually cheerful, guy. Most who know the real him would describe him as a excitable nutcase who has an obsessive love for books rather than fire. Even if he is a friendly kind of guy, he spends a lot of time studying and is very serious about his work as an apprentice. When he is taking his time to study, he'll gladly try and teach someone else, just for fun. Teaching people just happens to be his favorite way to learn anyway.

History:
Overall, Nathan is a pretty normal guy. He has no traumatic experiences, no great family heritage, or any excessively powerful gift. Really, he was just one of the mundanes you'd see walking down the streets. His early years were spent with his family, lots of betime stories, lots of love, the typical idealistic lifestyle. Nathan got into soccer at an early age, and was a decent, but by no means great, striker.
Nothing much chaged though his junior and high school days. He still played a lot of soccer, having been pushed into the goalie position when he was 12. Though he didn't get bedtime stories or anything, he took reading into his own hands. His collection of books was so big that his parents complained that they couldn't get in his room without knocking over a pile.
His introduction to the magic society came up when he began getting interested in chemistry class. Sure, he was still the same obsessive bibliophile that he was known to be, but chemistry gave him the power to burn things, which was fun. Like any normal kid with fireworks, he'd play around with them and come up with weird ways to use them. The only difference between his chemistry and another's was that his chemistry got him into the Academy.

Style: Pyromantic Alchemy
This branch of Alchemy is concerned primarily with the combustion of atomic structures, and the release of heat energy. As an alchemic form, there is a lot of science behind his power. And speaking of power, Pyromantics is one of the most destructive forms of Alchemy. It gets a bad reputation as an elementalist style, but is fundamentally different. Elementalists with a flair for fire focus on burning everything in sight. An Alchemic Pyromantist burns with control, aiming to gain soemthing from fire, not just destroy. For example, there are "weight loss" spells in this category of magic, as the spells burn fat, carbohydrates, and proteins at a controlled rate, like the body does. A Pyromantist will also sometimes work to temper metals, heating metal to the perfect point before it melts, and cooling it off rapidly to make the metal brittle.
----------| |----------| |----------| |----------
Strengths:
Pyromanics allow for a surprisingly versatile selection of capabilities in combat. Heating metal, direct attacks, area of effect spells, and even self-supporting spells can be found useful in almost any situation. Sure, he's not the beatstick or the healer in a group of people, but he does fill in the gaps between people, and is great support for most functions. Physically, he isn't too bad either, thanks to his soccer days. It gives him a balance of physical and mental capabilities.
Weaknesses:
Nathan's strength is also a distinct weakness. Having no one thing that he excels at leaves him lacking in the power department. Also, since his spells are all about fire, if somebody finds a fire-immunity spell, his spell list becomes tragically shortened. Being a mono-element, versatile spell caster does nothing if an opponent plans ahead of time to nullify his capabilities.

Spell List:
Fire Darts -- Fires a set of three darts that explode on contact, but only in a small sphere of about a few inches in radius. Each dart is thrown independent of the others, and travels at the speed he can throw normal objects.
Ignition -- A targeted surface of about five square feet or less is instantly cast into flames. The fire is instantaneous, and acts as a real fire would. In other words, the fire will continue to burn at a natural rate.
Metabolic Booster -- One of the oddball spells in Pyromantics, this spell boosts metabolism to much higher levels for a short time. It grant him a 150% multiplier to physical stats (STR, DEX, END) and a 200% multiplier to ENR. Afterward, the user feels great exhaustion, and suffers "burnout" until the lost energy is restored through rest. Burnout causes all physical stats to drop to 50% of their normal levels.
Molecular Agitation -- This spell rapidly moves molecules of any kind. By agitating the molecules, the friction between atoms becomes strong enough to burn. It's excellent for starting fires, heating metal, and "microwaving" a quick snack.
