Name: Sir Vayne Cardas Solidor
Occupation: Mana Knight
Nationality: German
Height: 6’4’’
Weight: 210 lbs
Age: 28
Hair: His wiry long hair is ink black, coming to the base of his shoulders. Often well groomed
Eyes: Navy Blue
Appearance:
Personality:
Being a Knight, Vayne is chivalrous and very honourable. He has become somewhat darkened because of what happened to his family, and can become very determined when it comes to revenge. Thus, his faith is tested these days. He lives by the sword, and has sworn an oath to die by the sword, believing that the best death is that of a death in battle. Unlike many of his ancestors, he does not dislike Mage’s, and is content to associate, and even befriend them.
History:
Vayne was borne into the Mana Knight order, and thusly was trained in the ways of Knighthood since a very early age. He was treated as nobility within the clan, and was soon seen to be somewhat of a prodigy. He was able to use any weapon he got his hands on with relative ease, but showed a definite affection for the longsword. He trained as a page within the house of Solidor, as to keep their sect secret from the rest of the world. However, during this time, he was treated not as a son of the house, but as the page he was. And so he served the family until the age of 14.
As tradition dictated, at 14, he was chosen by one of the Knights to be their squire. He served under Sir Constantine Solidor, serving him, and following him into battle against the demons that protruded the Ruptures they attended. His master was a swordsman of seemingly unmatchable calibre, as he felled one beast after another in combat. He would then tell tales to Vayne of his many valiant efforts before the boy’s time as he allowed him to eat at the same table as himself.
Finally, at the age of 18, the lord of the Mana Knight’s clan Knighted him Sir Vayne Solidor, and allowed him into the ranks of their order as a fully fledged Knight. And he fought as one along side his former master Constantine, striking down one demon after another. It seemed that his life would be perfect from what he could see.
However, on his 23rd birthday, the knights were called out to close a large rupture, one that had pushed beyond the world of Magic, and into Africa. The demons began to attack the natives, and soon, the Mana Knights arrived to deal with the issue. As usual, Vayne and Constantine fought together. It was a rough battle, but it seemed they would win, until a demon unlike any they had ever seen before emerged. Its blood red hide and tar black eyes only served to give the beast a distinct appearance. One that some would call Diablo. They fought the monster with all their strength, but it was far more powerful than anyone else in the Mana Knights, and easily beat them back. The battle raged for hours, and eventually, the beast turned on Vayne, spewing forth lava from its mouth at the young man. He shielded himself with his arms, but felt no pain. As he looked back, he saw that Constantine had leapt forth in between himself and the deadly attack. Mortified, Vayne’s voice cried out in rage, as he charged at the demon, catching it off guard and jamming his sword into its left eye. It cried out in agony and threw Vayne back, only to retreat back to beyond the rupture.
The Knights closed the rupture, and returned to their home. They told of the battle, and how Vayne had driven back the creature. The lord then decided to give Vayne the honour of taking Constantine’s place as the highest ranked Knight in the order. He accepted, vowing that he would serve the Mana Knights with his life, just as Constantine had before him. He was then presented the special armour to signify his rank, and an expertly crafted Longsword that would be almost impossible to break.
At 28, he was sent to the Arcane Academy to speak with one of their professors on the matter of Ruptures, to try and learn more about their origins. However, while he was at the academy, he received word that The Order had been told to destroy the Mana Knights, and that the entire clan had been wiped out. He was the last surviving member of the Mana Knights. Because he was within the Academy, he was safe from the carnage. But he knew that he would eventually need to fight them. And so, with a heavy heart, he mourned his clan, and began to hone his skills in order to be prepared for that day…
Style:
Vayne is a master of Holy magic. Whether using it to enchant his equipment, smiting his enemy’s, or healing his ally’s.
Strengths:
Vayne is strong, and knows very well how to wields his sword. Being a Knight, he has also learned how to utilise any weapon he can get into his hands to its fullest potential. His armour is strong, and provides great fortification against attack.
Weaknesses:
He is not as fast as others, and cannot run long distances because of the weight of his armour. He has a limited spell list, and has almost no ranged capabilities of his own. Due to his chivalrous ways, he can easily be blackmailed with the life of a woman or child, and even a good man. He will also endanger himself in order to save a comrade under attack.
Spell List:
Heal Others:
The spell channels the casters mana into holy energy which he then proceeds to heal the targets wounds, starting from it’s deepest point, thus fully healing even mortal wounds if cast quickly enough. The spell cannot however, be used on the caster.
Mana Shield:
Channels the casters energy into a powerful shield, burning mana when they are hit, rather than being injured. It doesn’t provide much defence against those who are far more powerful than the caster however, as they are likely to burn through the caster’s mana in one or two blows.
Smite:
The caster imbues their weapon with holy light, allowing them to strike harder than ever before. This is especially powerful against demons and other’s aligned with darkness. In order to conserve the caster’s mana, it is not spent until the weapon connects with its target. This does however, expend a sizable amount of mana for the damage it deals.
Prayer:
Not so much a spell as a latent ability. The user kneels and clasps their hands together, praying to their deity. As they do this, their Mana begins to regenerate at a fast rate. They are however, totally vulnerable in this state, as they must block out the outside world.
(Depending on the mana to regenerate, this can take up to 2 posts to fully fill the caster’s mana.)
Weapons/Gear:
A specially crafted Longsword made of iron. It has been enchanted so that it would not break, even under the greatest of stress. It was presented to Vayne during his ascension to right hand Knight of the order.
