Name: Rikimaru
Occupation: Ninja
Nationality: Japanese
Height: 6’0’’
Weight: 170
Age: 25
Hair: White
Eyes: Hazel
Appearance:
Personality:
Rikimaru can seem cold and unfeeling. But in a pinch, he will always stand on the side he believes to be good. On the other side of the coin, he has no issues with killing anyone who tries to get in the way of his objective. Very reclusive, he doesn’t open up to anybody. He believes that one’s life belongs only to them, and is not a burden to be shared…
History:
Rikimaru was brought into the world an orphan. His mother died giving birth to him, and his father killed himself shortly afterwards. A passing villager noticed the cries of the abandoned child, and found the gruesome sight of the infant, covered in the blood of its father, who lay dead in the chair next to the mother, whose lifeless corpse served as a perch for the screaming child, who lay naked on her stomach. The woman took pity on the baby, and wrapped it in a cloth she carried. She promised the child as she cooed to it, that she would take it to the nearest village, and she would allow the elder of that village to decide what would be done with it.
The village elder heard the tale of the child, and he carefully weighed up the facts. He then looked across the court, and spoke these words. “This child that has been born in blood, shall live a life in blood, and shall die in blood. A burden that many would refuse. So he, who believes that they can handle such a burden, make yourself known”. There was a silence that seemed to last an eternity. But just as the elder was about to declare the fate of the child, a lone man in a large straw hat stood. He told the elder that he would take the child, on the condition that he be allowed to train him how he saw fit. The elder thought on this for a moment, before nodding, and agreeing to the man’s terms.
The man took the child under his arm, and left the village. He took the boy to a small hut, far from the eyes of the village, and he placed the boy on his table. He removed his hat, and said unto the child… “From this day forth… Your name will be Rikimaru… A strong name, and one that you will carry with you as you walk the path of the Ninja, with me as your guide…” And so began the many years of training under the tutelage of the mysterious man, known only as Tatsumaru.
As the boy grew, so too did his skills as a ninja. He was a fast learner, but because of this, he believed himself to be much better than he actually was. He began to develop the most dangerous thing for a ninja… He began to develop an ego… At the age of 9, Tatsumaru introduced Rikimaru to a beautiful woman, who he explained was a kunoichi. He explained that the kunoichi were a group of female ninja who used seduction and hypnotism as their main weapons, but were just as deadly as any male ninja. The woman too had a student, named Rin. Tatsumaru explained that he would work together with Rin, in order to increase their chances of success in their early missions. Rikimaru was reluctant to agree to the whole ordeal, but he had no choice, and so he was forced to go along with it.
They took on reconnaissance missions together, staying hidden and listening in on enemy plans. It was a very slow job. Too slow for Rikimaru… And so, on one mission, they received information that there would be a counteroffensive strike against the company they had been hired by, and it would take place in less than an hour. He knew that there would not be enough time to warn Tatsumaru, and so he rushed into the base, his sword drawn and ready to kill every man in the room. Rin could only watch in horror as Rikimaru brandished his sword and threatened to attack. The leader of the group just laughed and grabbed a nearby knife. Suddenly, from out of nowhere, two large men grabbed Rikimaru’s arms, holding him in place firmly while the leader slashed the knife down Rikimaru’s right eye, destroying the eye, and leaving a scar to prove it. Rin could no longer sit by idle, and so she leapt from her hiding position, firmly placing a kunai in each of the big men’s throats. She then dashed forwards, and grabbed Rikimaru, throwing him out the window, and into the river outside the small hideout.
Rikimaru awoke several days later to find that he could no longer see out from his right eye… His sensei had cut the now useless organ from his face, and tended to the wound. Rikimaru, now more worried about his companion than his own well being, sat bolt upright, and demanded to see Rin. Tatsumaru nodded in agreement, and took the boy to a hidden cave behind the nearby waterfall. Inside the cave sat an alter, upon which Rin lay. Rikimaru raced over to her side, but the closer he got, the more obvious her fate became. She lay there, dead on that alter, her body devoid of any signs of life… Tatsumaru stayed silent for a long time, as Rikimaru stood over the young girl, before finally speaking. “She died to protect you… Do not let her death be in vain…”
From that day forth, Rikimaru trained with an intensity Tatsumaru had never seen before. His determination was without peer, and he became a very serious person, no longer the cocky young boy he once was. As he grew into his 20’s, his assassination techniques began to become very refined, and his master warned him that as he was becoming more and more dangerous, they would likely come under attack themselves eventually. He told his student, that should he ever die, he was to seek out someone who could take him to a place called Arcane Academy. There, he could continue his training in safety… And in only a few years, that which he had been warned about happened… His master was killed by a rival ninja who had snuck in one night…
Rikimaru spent a year searching for the Academy his master had spoken of, when one day, he met a Tracer, who, after testing him, decided that he indeed possessed magical abilities, and so he allowed Rikimaru passage to the Arcane Academy… And the next chapter of his life…
Style:
Rikimaru is an adept user of Ninjutsu. An art that mixes the use of swords, martial arts, tools, stealth, and ancient magical skills known as Ninpo. As such, he works best in close range combat, and is very good at sneak attacks. His spells draw from the inner energy within him, which he calls chi. Such spells can range from rendering the user invisible or making multiple copies of themselves, to dropping bolts of lightning on their opponent or breathing fire on them. These ‘spells’ are created with the combination of different symbols made with the users hands.
Strengths:
Rikimaru’s greatest strength is his ability to move completely undetected. He is also extremely quick, and capable of feats that defy normal human ability, such as running up walls, and jumping great distances. He is also extremely perceptive, and often able to see through disguises, traps and sometimes even notice an invisible enemy.
Weaknesses:
Being that he has trained his body to be exceptionally quick and efficient, he doesn’t have much in the way of defence. He also isn’t the strongest around, relying on his speed and ability to strike vital points on an opponent to get by.
Spell List:
Vanish:
The caster uses their chi to manipulate the opponents around them, erasing their presence from their senses. It is only an illusion, and can be broken, but as long as the Ninja holds the spell, they are for all intents and purposes, gone.
The spell taxes the user in accordance to how many opponents they are trying to vanish from, as the more there are, the more chi they must expel to manipulate their senses.
Clone:
This spell allows it’s user to create several clones of themselves to confuse their opponent. The clones cannot directly harm an enemy, but they can give the caster time to flee, or allow them the time to wait for an opening in their opponent.
The spell’s drain on the users chi will depend on how many clones they create.
Earth Element:
This allows the user to manipulate the earth to their advantage by pushing their chi into the ground. They can move boulders, or sink below the ground. The manipulation is limited to the users level of chi. Theoretically, someone with a high enough chi level could topple a mountain. This is the hardest of the elements to control.
Air Element:
This allows the user to control the air by filling the air about them with their chi, and that which is associated with the air, such as mist and lightning. The user can create wind chills that could freeze an opponent, or push the wind at speeds that would cut the target.
This is the easiest of the elements to control. The chi drain varies depending on the force with which they apply the desired effect. Conjuring lighting is very taxing.
Fire Element:
This allows the user to generate fire by using their chi to manipulate the molecules in the air to create a combustion. The user has very limited control over the flame, and can only really push the flames out towards their intended target.
Fire takes a fair amount of chi to generate.
Water Element:
This allows the user to manipulate the water around them by pushing their chi into a nearby water source. Because water ebbs and flows so easily, the caster can literally pull any liquid into the air and move it about at will, using very little chi.
Weapons/Gear:
His sword, an ancient Katana dating back hundreds of years. He calls it Izayoi, which means “16th Night's Moon".
10 Kunai and 10 Shuriken hidden amongst his clothing. He also has at least 2 smoke bombs on hand for quick escapes.
A grappling hook with a claw end which can stick to most wooden structures. Can be used for combat, but mostly for travel purposes.
