Name: Artyllus Alexander
Occupation: Dark Alchemist and Channeler
Nationality: Canadian
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 193 lbs.
Age: 19
Hair Color: A dull silvery-grey
Eye Color: Dark, dark Brown, they appear to be fully black.
Appearance:
As can be seen, Artyllus is a tall man with shoulder-length, silvery-grey hair, seemingly ages before his time. Upon looking, however, one would see that the hair is a natural color, and not the result of stress or old age. Facially, Artyllus looks rather guant, and seemingly always tired. This tends to give off the impression that he is much, much older than he really is, as his face makes him look slightly haggard; as if he's seen more in his short time than most would be willing to view in any number of liftimes.
Apparel-wise, Artyllus, much to his nature, dresses in dark, formal wear. Most notably, however, is his long, black overcoat, fastened together only by a dull golden chain about six inches below the collar. Undearneath the coat, he tends to go the whole nine yards, wearing dark suits, including another slightly lighter, more shirt-like coat underneath, the collar flared out, and a shirt, slightly lighter in shade, complete with a black tie. All in all, the man's appearance only adds to his dark demeanor.
Personality: Dark, brooding, and enigmatic, Artyllus rarely speaks, and if he does, it's either some kind of vague sentence, a riddle not meant to be answered, or some contemptuous jibe with no humor whatsoever. The man is seemingly dead-set against explaining anything about himself, what he does, what he is, why he's at the Academy, or what his life was like.
Despite his extremely cold, completely uncaring attitude towards the rest of the world, Artyllus holds a very personal spot in him for his sister, Athena. While you'll never see any softening about him, even when mentioning of her or in her presence, Artyllus is fiercely protective of her, likely overly so, and as such, holds little patience to those who speak ill of her or threaten her in any way.
History: ... To Be Revealed ...
Style
Alchemy and, to a Lesser Extent, Channeling. One key factor about Artyllus is that he exudes a ridiculously high amount of mana, extremely far over the amount that he can manifest within his body. As such, he has honed his abilities to be able, to some extent, to tap into that mana, giving him a longer range than most other practicioners of his two chosen crafts.
Thanks to two large Seals of Solomon, one tattooed on his chest and the other on his back, which, since he is always touching them, can be activated seemingly remotely, Artyllus uses alchemy to change the properties and forms of things around him, effectively manipulating the physical world to his whim. While normally one must be touching the object or the seal around it that they wish to transmute, Artyllus, from his intense training, can simply activate one (or both) of his Seals and, infusing the item with the excess mana constantly flowing through him, transmute something up to five feet away.
Other than Alchemy, however, Artyllus can not wield or manipulate his energy by himself, even less so for the 'energy field' he's constantly surrounded by. Thus, he picked up on the art of channeling, which allows him to focus his mana through almost any item and use it in various ways. Much like his alchemy, Artyllus can tap into the excess mana to some extent, channeling it through items he is not physically touching.
Even despite all of his magical prowess, Artyllus is quite a formidable physical fighter as well. He has no real style to his physical fighting, however, it involves flowing movements, sharp eyesight, and heavy-handed blows, and a certain ruthlessness that adds up for a rather deadly fighting ability.
Strengths: At first glance, Artyllus seemingly has it all: He is fairly strong, very fast, and can wield his particular branches of magic with extreme talent and effectiveness. These talents combined make him extremely dangerous and deadly in battle, definitely making him someone you do NOT want to cross in the training grounds, or anywhere, for that matter.
Not to mention, the 'cloud' of mana constantly pouring forth from Artyllus works as a strength in itself. Unless the person has a very high concentration of personal energy his or herself (Energy Stat 25 or above), being in close contact with Artyllus means being constantly washed over with pure, unseen energy, causing headaches and dizziness, and making the person less able to focus. (-2 to DEX and WIS)
Weaknesses: Despite his seemingly impenetrable status, combat-wise, Artyllus has a few weaknesses that can be exploited if gone about in the right way. First off, though is strong, fast, and has a sharp eye, Artyllus tends to not think much in battle, or in any situations. He is, by no means, an idiot, he simply lets his sister do most, if not all, of the planning, content to work as the muscle instead. Thus, in fights, he tends to react more often than not, causing him to stick entirely to the defensive, only striking when instincts say so and his eyes catch an opportunity to counter-strike. If he does go on the offense, however, his moves will be simple and not planned through, making them likely easy targets to block.
Also, the man is extremely protective of his sister, going to any lengths to keep her out of harm's way, even foregoing all other events just on the mere news that she may be in trouble. If found out by a more cunning student, this could easily be exploited in their favor.
Spell List:
Transmute - Obvious, this is the only 'spell' involved in Alchemy, allowing him to manipulate the physical realm about him, changing it's form, structure, and properties
Channel - When either touching an item or focusing on an item within five feet of him, Artyllus can either channel his own energy or the energy he's exuding, respectively, into the item, which, in itself, does little except to superheat the object, making it extremely hot to the touch and causing it to burn anyone who isn't using the same mana. As such, Artyllus and Athena can not be burned by this trick.
Energy Burst - When Artyllus channels energy into an object, he can only hold and release it, rather than keep a steady channel. Thus, Artyllus can focus his mana into an object, and then send all that he's channeled flying out towards his opponent in a short, strong burst of energy. Remember that this can be done with objects within or without of his grasp, though he can charge more mana into those he's touching.
Overloard - By channeling a constant feed of mana into an object, Artyllus can overcharge the item, giving it more mana than it can physically retain. Thus, when Artyllus suddenly cuts off the mana flow, all the mana within the object, needing to go somewhere, bursts out, causing the object to explode in a bright energy explosion. This could be used to blind or harm opponents.
Weapons/Gear: None as of yet.
Items:
Pet/Familar:
Artyllus has a familiar of sorts, a large Cormorant Bird named Silhouette. He is aptly named because of his very dark color, and that he always seems to appear from the shadows. Whether he is simply a stealthy bird or some kind of shadow element, however, has not been ascertained. Artyllus has him nearby everywhere he goes, either riding on his shoulder or his arm, and is rarely without him. In battle, Silhouette acts mostly as a distraction, but will also perform such acts as, but not limited to, grabbing far away objects for him while he is busy fighting, or pecking and/or scratching the opponent.
How this works, however, is unknown. Artyllus does not speak to Silhouette, either physically or mentally, however, the bird always seems to know just what to do in any situation.
Artyllus STATS: (out of, technically, 140)
STR: 30
DEX: 30
INT: 15
WIS: 25
ENG: 100 (but caps at 40)
(Note: the 100 in Energy is basically so that players can have a general idea of how much energy is pouring out of Artyllus all of the time. He can not, nor will I ever, use that 100 energy to it's maximum.)
(Other Note: I'm not making stats for Silhouette, he doesn't need any. If he manages to peck or claw you, it's going to hurt. Talons meeting skin/Beak meeting eyes = Pain, no matter what your stats look like.)
