History:
Denton was born into a multi-racial Asian family in Hong Kong. His mother was a mix of Vietnamese and Taiwanese and his father was a mix of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Chinese. Denton's father had a pretty good job in China working in film. His father had a job as a producer and a writer. In China and Hong Kong, when you work in the film industry, you have a job for life. The was pretty good and it enabled him to take Denton around the world. Denton spent most of his time in Asia and Europe. It was a pretty interesting and enriching life for him. It was somewhat of a normal life for Denton. But he hardly had the time to make friends due to he and his parents constantly moving around.
He spent a lot of time on various sets with his father learning the crafts of film and stage. Denton spent most of life learning the various crafts of film and stage from dancing, writing, producing, acting, choreography, and directing from his father's friends. Whenever new film technology came out, Denton's father was one of the people that got to play around with it. In turn, Denton got to learn how to use all this new film technology. However, Denton didn't know everything. It was a pretty good platform where Denton got to network with various prominent people in the entertainment industry at such a young age.
Denton acted for the first time when he was 11. People were so impressed with Denton's skills that they chose him for numerous acting jobs. However, he still waited for the opportunity to act in the United States. But he was pretty happy doing acting jobs around Europe and Asia. He's been on numerous ads for various food and drink commercials when he was in his early teens.
In between, Denton took the time to perform on stage in France, England, and Korea. He was pretty happy with his life.
When Denton was 13, his dad's friend a prominent director well known in Japan, Hong Kong, and Korea named Lipton Seok introduced him to a secret magic known as Film Magic. Denton's father knew about Film Magic but agreed to keep the secret out of the sake of their friendship. Lipton also divulged to Denton's father about Arcane Academy, D-13, Blood Society, etc.
Turned out that Film Magic was pretty sacred and there could be only one user at a time. In the wrong hands, misuse of Film Magic could be very disasterous.
Lipton was dying of lung cancer due to his years of chain smoking. With his last years, Lipton taught Denton as much as he could about film magic. However, film magic was mainly non-combative. It was Lipton's secret as an award winning director and producer. Lipton used film magic to cut costs of special effects and equipment that would cost well over hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars. Yes, that's how much the budgets are at least.
Lipton felt that Denton was at the right age to start learning the craft of Film Magic for the sake of making movies. He was pretty much impressed with Denton's love of the craft. In a sense, Denton reminded him of his daughter who was killed in a car accident when she was just about five years old. With Denton, Lipton felt like a father/grandfather figure again. Something that he missed and wanted to relive again.
After 5 years of learning Film Magic, Lipton succumbed to the lung cancer at the sage of 67. However, there was still lots that Denton didn't even know about. Then his father disclosed everything to him. Most of Lipton's films were adapted from actual stories taking place from the Academy, it's battles, and all other things. About 75% of all revenues whether they be gross or net went directly towards the Academy which acted as one of its sources of funds. From his father, Denton learned about what Arcane Academy stood for and all the nine yards. But Denton wasn't ready yet.
At the age of 19 while reading the notes taken by Lipton on some of the Academy's adventures, Denton adapted them into a few live action movies, Japanese mangas, comics, anime, etc. Knowing full well of the Academy's activities, these movies had caught the attention of D-13. One night, several D-13 agents raided Denton's home in Hong Kong. Denton wasn't sure what was going on. However, Denton knew enough about D-13 to know that these people do not play games.
But, turned out that D-13 were interested in Denton's filmmaking skills. D-13 had some pretty interesting stories to tell Denton and wanted him to make movies that were adapted from their adventures. Denton agreed. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise because D-13 was an American based shadow organization. Being an American based organization, D-13 was Denton's ticket to Hollywood. Through D-13's influence, Denton was able to get pretty good budgets to make his films. In Hollywood, Denton further improved his crafts in writing, acting, and directing.
The agents at D-13 also agreed to help Denton improve on the use of Film Magic. They too happened to know of Lipton and of the craft of Film Magic.
He also got a taste to see what it's like to be a producer. Being in Hollywood for a good while changed Denton mentally. However, despite getting wiser, Denton became more jaded and disillusioned with Hollywood. But Hollywood was where the big money was at. However, through Hollywood, Denton learned how to run a studio, get funding, and all sorts of other good things.
At 22, Denton was approached by the Monastery. Monastery was Denton's ticket to start making films again in Asia. Like D-13, Monastery agreed to help Denton improve on Film Magic at the same time teaching him more martial arts. In Asia, Denton was revered as the breakthrough superstar and newage director. He was pretty busy as an actor, director, writer, choreographer, and producer doing jobs for both the Monastery and D-13. Yet, he hadn't caught the attention of the other groups yet.
In Asia, one of his most notable movies is called the "Pseudo Avengers" where he played Pseudo Avenger Red, the leader of the Pseudo Avengers.
He's also known for some popular Hong Kong blood operas known as the "Bullet Dancer" trilogy.
To worldwide audiences, Denton's a prominent celebrity personality.
His movie "Titanium Monk" was a major international hit. With Titanium Monk, Denton started to get more work throughout Europe and Africa. Word of Denton reached the ears of both the Rosascrucians and Eternity.
Rosacrucians and Eternity got word of Denton's movies after watching Titanium Monk. Both organizations approached Denton wanting him to make movies for them as well. Since Eternity is basically a cult, movies based on Eternity were a hit in Europe, especially throughout Italy. Italian horror films happen to be the European equivalent to the Japanese horror films with Japanese being more focused on ghost stories while Italian focuses more on witchcraft, Satanism, dark rituals, etc. Both organizations really had a field day with Denton's movies. From those two organizations, Denton managed to make his way to Bollywood which is the Indian equivalent of Hollywood. These organizations pretty much helped to boost his career.
However, the one group that wasn't impressed with Denton was The Order. Though at the time, the Order had no legit reasons to target Denton. Then there was this direct-to-DVD movie known as "The Order" which was based in Jerusalem and starred Jean Claude Van Damme. Throughout the arcane world, word got leaked that Denton was secretly responsible for making that film.
Now, the Order will stop at nothing to hunt down Denton and make him pay for making a film on them. They're even more pissed that the movie starred Jean Claude Van Damme. The Order deemed it as one of the highest insults given out to them, a movie based on them that stars Van Damme. Had it been Steven Seagal, the Order would want to dismember Denton violently. Being on the Order's hitlist, Denton had to be extremely careful of where he went. The Order's been pretty sore about that for quite some time and the sore probably won't go away for a long time.
For the time being, Denton retreated back to Hollywood at the age of 23 and continued making films for both D-13 and occasionally flying overseas to make movies for the Monastery. Life was pretty good. However, the Order were still determined to get him. Due to Denton's celebrity status, it would be extremely difficult for the Order to assassinate him. Yes, they were that pissed off about the movie and Jean Claude Van Damme.
Order couldn't do things themselves. They would contract outside help such as hiring lowlife thugs to do their bidding. That way, it would look like some random shooting and the Order would go undetected. However, Denton managed to keep his life private which made it hard for the Order to track him. So far, life seemed to be easy. Especially with the fact that Denton could hire private assistants to run errands for him such as getting dry cleaning, paying bills, and all sorts of menial stuff.
However, the Order had other plans. Outsourcing to gangs again, the Order ended up killing all of Denton's personal assistants to a point where it seemed to look like some curse. After going through over a hundred personal assistants, nobody would work for Denton. Denton was pretty pissed off because he couldn't even get a simple mocha latte without having an attempt on his life at the hands of the Order.
Just as Denton was trying to cope with the Order wanting to hunt him down, his mother died of leukemia. Months after, his father was travelling around Asia and met a Korean singer named Madeline Seong. The two got married and Denton ended up with a step brother named Dallas. And Dallas happened to be an "aspiring" rapper. Not only did Denton have to think about the Order, he was now given the responsibility of babysitting his 21 year old step-brother whom he can't stand at all.
Still, Denton was making good money with the films based off the events of the Monastery and D-13. Off work, Denton lived a pretty secluded life. What he wanted was peace and quiet. But he was even denied that at the hands of Dallas who refers to himself in third person as "50 Yen". Dallas would use the home in Beverly Hills and throw all sorts of parties at Denton's expense. Denton would've rather gotten killed by the Order rather than put up with Dallas, who was a very immature adult that doesn't know how the real world works.
There is no way that Denton's going to reveal the existance of magic to his step-brother.
Dallas was a normal human being unlike Denton who was skilled in Film Magic. Instead of Denton, the Order would target Dallas just to smite him. Then another blessing came...
Denton was approached by the Academy.
"We like your D-13 films, care to join us?"
Instead of interrogating Denton, the people at the Academy blunty offered to hire Denton to make movies for them.
Debating over the offer, Denton agreed to also do films with the Academy. He has now taken up temporary residence in the faculty quarters of the Academy. It was his first time getting a look at the Academy that floats directly over the Earth. He left the house in Dallas' care much to his annoyance. Now, Denton walks the halls of the Academy getting inspiration for future films. Also, making movies based off all these stories was Lipton's legacy. In honor of his mentor, Denton continues keeping Lipton's legacy alive.
Now the Academy has regained one of their most lucrative sources of funding. But Denton spends most of his time on Earth mainly due to his job and obligations. For reference, the film reels of all the movies that Denton either acted, wrote, choreographed, produced, and/or directed are stored in the Academy's archives along with the films created by his predecessor Lipton Seok.
When not doing things at the Academy, Denton's on Earth either directing a film, writing a script, acquiring funding, acting on stage or in front of a camera, and all that other good stuff. Denton would like to do some films with Beast mainly because he wouldn't have to dish out money to pay for beast makeup, beast prostestics, costumes, etc.
Denton currently has Earthside residences in NYC, Los Angeles, Miami, Vancouver, Rio De Janiero, Sydney, New Dehli, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, London, Paris, Geneva, Prague, and Madrid. For hobbies, Denton likes to collect cameras and various types of film.
Keep in mind that Denton is by no means an instructor. He's at the Academy to gather research and input for what films they want to see created. Headmaster is one of the two other co-producers of the Academy's films.
Style
Film Magic
Denton is the only person so far to use Film Magic for combat. It's highly experimental. But it's been proven to be pretty formidable in combat with the right cameras, angles, lighting, etc. Film Magic pretty much is something that utilizes teamwork in order for it to work properly in combat.
In a sense, the field of vision of a camera lenses acts as some sort of special space enable Denton to pull off numerous feats and abilities. Like in sci-fi action film. Film Magic also enables Denton to create special type of film for various cameras whenever he needs to do battle. In front of a camera, Denton can do just about anything. Think those National Lampoon movies with Charlie Sheen, Scary Movie, Date Movie, and Epic Movie. For combat wise, think about all those action movies you watch.
Strengths:
Denton's abilities are amplified whenever he's in front of a camera. While the camera is rolling and being operated, Denton can do just about anything. Weapons are amplied such as firearms and explosives.
However due to his extensive training and learning various film and stage crafts, Denton's physically strong, fast, and intelligent. He's pretty much at a peak that's a cross between Olympian, Professional Fighter, and Spec-Ops. His normal physical abilities can also be manipulated depending on what camera and film is used.
In physical over supernatural when not in front of any cameras, Denton can hold his own in a fight. He's had various knowledge of weapons and firearms which he had to learn to take on various roles in films alongside long and vigorous martial arts training. When it comes to Film and Film Magic, Denton is a very focused individual.
The heart and soul of Film Magic revolves around team work. As long as people can work together, Denton's abilities can be extremely powerful.
Weaknesses:
If Denton isn't in front of a camera, his powers are null. He's basically a normal human being. Denton breathes and bleeds like a normal human being.
Bad camera angles weaken his powers as well. It a nutshell, for Denton's abilities to work, he has to be in front of a camera at all times. Depending on what camera is being used also determines the strength of his abilities.
Most of his abilities require a crew of at least 9-12 people. He requires a "support" team to work the cameras and other film equipment for his spells to work. Without a crew, Denton's pretty much screwed. That's the one major drawback of combating with film magic. Also, the crew has to be well trained since Denton's life is in their hands. Any crewmember not doing his/her job properly could be fatal for Denton.
Film Magic's only effective when Denton's in front of a camera. But he can't just be in front of a camera.
