Appearance:
Quentin is built like a tall basketball player. His muscles are pretty much well-toned and proportionate to where they're supposed to be. Appearance wise, Quentin wears business-casual wear such as khakis, etc. He wears wireframe glasses over his eyes.
Personality:
Quentin's pretty much a cheerful and charismatic individual when he's working with the SPLC. But as a D-13 agent, he gets pretty serious with what he's doing. At times, he can be pretty conflicted between his duties as D-13 and working his cover at the SPLC. Most of the times, Quentin's pretty much like those typical youth motivator/guidance counselors you have in Middle and High School.
History:
Quentin was born in Atlanta, Georgia nearly at the end of the Vietnam War. His father was drafted into the United States Navy when he was 24. His mother worked as a high school teacher. Due to a Viet Cong rocket, Quentin's father lost both of his legs and had artificial legs replaced. Due to some technicalities, Quentin's father didn't qualifty for Veteran's benefits. Not that he wanted it anyway.
It was pretty much a rough life for Quentin and his family, especially living in the south and living under such poverty. Racism was pretty rampant in the South with rioting, murder, etc at the hands of such groups like the Ku Klux Klan, Aryan Movement, etc.
It was a pretty difficult life for Quentin. Quentin turned to basketball as a positive way to channel his emotions. He was a mediocre basketball player. The boy would usually get picked last when playing basketball. Quentin could feel rejected. But for a boy like Quentin, it was pretty normal. However, things would get abnormal once Quentin turned 16. Most of his years, Quentin was trying to perfect a jumpshot. Some special gene within Quentin was triggered.
Miraculously, Quentin managed to jump 20 feet off the ground, though he missed the jump shot miserably. Quentin couldn't believe it, he could actually jump very high.
He ran home to show his parents. But his parents told him to keep it a secret. Quentin couldn't help but show his friends. Because of his newfound ability, Quentin was always the first to get picked. In secret, Quentin would perfect his self-propulsion abilities. Quentin started his senior year of high school being placed as the captain of the varsity basketball team. He was the talk of the community. Though, he still felt alienated from the rest of his peers of an ability that just reacted within him.
Still, the coach didn't care.
Quentin would lead the school's basketball team to many victories. He even had many girlfriends thanks to his ability. What he never realized was that once his dormant abilities awakened, Quentin was now one of many blips on the supernatural radar. Quentin was offered scholarships to Duke University, University of Florida, University of Georgia, UC Berkeley, Penn State, George Washington University to play basketball for them. It was pretty great for Quentin. Quentin elected to play for Georgetown in Washington DC.
This ability had given him a full ride to school. Life was good for Quentin. D-13 was keeping close watch on Quentin. However, other people would be watching Quentin and studying his abilities. One night after a post-game party, Quentin was attacked by demons. Had D-13 not have intervened, Quentin surely would've gotten killed.
It was Quentin's senior year of high school. He was about to be one of many college players to be drafted by the NBA. The chance encounter with D-13 would forever kill his chances of playing in front of many fans for the NBA.
While Quentin healed up in the hospital, he was met by agents of D-13. They explained to Quentin that they've been watching him since his powers awakened. D-13 was curious about Quentin's powers and wanted to study him more. At first Quentin refused but D-13 reminded him about the brutal attack at the hands of some very violent demons. The grim reality of magic's existence had rained down on Quentin.
Quentin didn't know what to do.
After weighing his options, Quentin agreed to work for D-13. D-13 allowed Quentin to finish college where he would graduate with a Bachelors in sociology and religious studies. After turning down an offer to play for the NBA, Quentin enlisted in the United States Air Force. After basic training, Quentin went into officer's training school. After graduation from OTS, Quentin went into flight school where he learned to fly helicopters. He became a helicopter pilot. Quentin learned about military protocol, laws, etc.
After 10 years, Quentin resigned his commission and left the USAF. Now he was a full fledged D-13 agent where his abilities came in handy for the most important intelligence and recon missions. Quentin would be very difficult for enemies to capture.
With the looming thread of hate and other various racial supremecy groups learning and utilizing the existence of magic, D-13 placed Quentin in intelligence. For the last five years, Quentin has worked for the Southern Poverty Law Center as a D-13 sleeper agent.
Quentin's had his fill of fighting off attempted bombings, killings, etc. Most of them were not associated with magic. The ones that were, Quentin cleans up any traces of anything magical and makes it look like a normal hate crime. Because of this, Quentin was known as one of D-13's most invaluable field operatives. He continues operating as a D-13 agent undercover working for the SPLC. Quentin's began to take up social, political, and civil rights activism. But his job as a D-13 agent comes first.
But he's still pretty conflicted between being an effective D-13 agent and being a decent human being.
With the alliance of the Academy and D-13, Quentin is the special attache of D-13 when dealing with missions that involve hate groups and racial-supremacy organizations.
Style
Self-Propulsion
Strengths:
Quentin can jump to extremely high altitudes and go over very high distances. In an urban environment, Quentin can use Self-Propulsion to richochet all over the area like a bullet. Think Revolver Ocelot when he fires a bullet and think Quentin as that bullet. He can get from one location to another with ease.
Weaknesses:
Quentin's muscles can get strained upon each continuous landing. On very hard surfaces, Quentin can easily sprain his ankles, bruise his legs, etc without wearing the proper types of shoes to handle the shock. Upon landing, you have to factor in momentum, the speed, gravitational pull, shock absorbtion, the stress of your muscles and bones, etc.
Turbulent winds cause major problems for Quentin. If propelling in such windy weather, Quentin is weightless and is at the wind's mercy. A wind manipulator can willfully steer Quentin into any direction including his impending doom.
Spell List:
Above The Rim - It is Quentin's only spell. That's just about all he needs. From the ground or any surface, Quentin propels himself upwards into the air for a very high jump. The highest that Quentin's ever jumped was 25 miles up into the air taking him away from Earth's gravitational pull. You have to be at least 22 miles up in the air to be out of Earth's gravitational pull.
