(The following story takes place in the realm of Arcane Acadamy. THis is all a look in the future, then the next chapters are flashbacks.)
The rain fell hard onto the damp, grassy ground. Two figures stood on top of a cliff overlooking the sea. The waves crashed onto the beach violently, the sound loud and booming even though it happened at least two hundred yards below.
One figure was a young girl, wet, matted blonde hair falling haphazardly across her face. Her green tank top was completely drenched, making it seem darker than it is. Her hands were at her sides, her body not reacting to the chill in the air, nor the wetness of the falling rain. She wore black pants that stuck to her body in the rain, clinging to every curve of her fit legs. The gleam that usually filled her eyes was gone in a wave of sadness, her head lowered in a mixture of feelings. Sadness, rage, confusion, all clung to her mind. Her most notable feature though, was her ears, which jetted out, most longer than a human's. She was a young elf, around twenty in human years.
Behind her stood another figure. His body was shrouded in a brown cloak, a hood protecting his head from the water. His face was partly visable, though the girl was facing away from him. He had two dark green eyes, strands of dark gray hair falling before them. His hands were clasped behind his back, his eyes kept on the girl.
The girl finally gathered herself enough to speak to the man, though she never turned to face him.
"So, what now...? You got me into this mess..." She said softly, but loud enough that the man could hear her.
"Now now Mila. Don't blame your wrong doings on me. I did nothing. All choices made thus far have been your doing." The man explained calmly. As soon at the last word escaped his lips, Mila turned quickly.
"NOW DARE YOU FUCKING SAY THAT! You made this entire thing happen. If not for you, I wouldn't be here. You ruined my life, and now, I have to pay for it! What kind of person would do this to another?!" She screamed, emotions running out of her. The man only laughed a bit and kept his eyes level with hers.
"A man with a purpose."
"And what kind of purpose is that you maniac?" Mila demanded, tears filling her eyes. Her fists were clenched with anger. She wanted nothing more than to lunge out and choke the man.
"Research my dear... All in the name of research..." The cloaked figure said, his face making no expression. Mila sighed, knowing it was no use debating him. She calmly turned to the cliff and stared out at the raging waves again.
"Well, where do we go from here?" Mila asked. She heard no reply from behind her for a while, then the familiar voice sounded.
"Why ask me? I'm not going anywhere with you..." The man said.
"So, you use me for your 'research,' get me into a mess of trouble, then plan on abandoning me?" Mila asked, the anger inside her rising again.
"Basically..."
SUddenly, in the distance, the sound of clashing armor could be heard. It was full bodied men, jogging to their location. Mila knew exactly who it was.
"Shit... she found us. What should we do?" Mila asked the wanderer. He just laughed a bit.
"Here's where I say goodbye Mila. Good luck." He said before snapping his fingers. In a blinding flash of light, the man was gone, leaving Mila with the sound of knights approaching.
"NOOOOO!! YOU SON OF A BITCH!!" She yelled to no one, her cries falling upon deaf ears. In a rush of defeat, Mila dropped to her knees, her head lowered. She wept for what seemed like forever, but then, the sounds of metal came to a halt. Raising her head, she found herself surrounded by eight knights, fully donned in red and silver armor.
Then, a ninth figure arrived. She was five-foot eight, her slender figure hidden by her suit of armor, styled the same way as the infantry. She however, wore no helmet. Her long black hair was matted from the rain, just as Mila's. Her beautiful, green eyes seemed to stare into Mila's soul.
"Hello elf." General Rose said with a heartless tone. "I see we finally found you. For your crimes against the city, and against The Acadamy, you are under arrest."
