The following is copy/pasted. For those of your into roleplaying sites with large armies, realistic settings, and strive to beat someone with detailed posts and what not.. I've integrated a feature, just for you guys, where you must work your way up, before you can even join a kingdom, and then, you must fight on the front lines or study hard with scholars to prove yourself to be a general/strategist, all the while having the 'Arcane Academy' feel (hey, you guys inspired a large feature of what I'm probably going to be modifying) of having taking care of yourself, as an individual..
Well, the game's up with me, I'll come clean.
I've been doing a lot of research, on multiple sites, learning about the different behaviors, and what not, what people like, and that sort of thing. Arcane Academy has been a healthy new experiance, but it goes further then that. ROTTK + Intimate Roleplaying (Arcane Academy [In your face RPing] + Rome: Total War + Ideas from just about everywhere (proper credit will be given) + A really fucking long description on everything =...
Dawn of the 3 Kingdoms
Yea, I've been working on it for almost a year now, I'm still not giving out the link, but, I think I should at least give you a preview of what's to come:
-Everyone (except the 3-4 starting rules, and maybe the Emperor of the Han) starts out with nothing, even no horse, but maybe about 50 gold or so, and stats that range from about 1-15.
-Possibility of sub-stats. (War-->Strength, Dexterity, Agility, (Movement) Speed, Flexibility; Politics-->Charisma, Bribe(?), etc. etc. etc. etc., thanking Monster Game for the inspiration)
-All weapons are buyable/upgradeable/sellable (but you only get half-back)
-You can't join a kingdom until you get 50 posts, meaning, that you'll be doing a lot of quests to get your fame up.
-Benevolence = Possible item discounts. Notoriety = killing quest-makers for their money, the perks of the 'quick-and-easy' way, etc. etc.
-Toying with idea of needs for personal food (like consuming a piece of bread a day to keep your character alive, or else suffering temporary stats reduction and/or starving/death if going without food for too long) and hideouts/houses/huts.
-Possibility of Rome: Total War- inspired credentials for things like "Retinue" and "Attributes"..
-Cities may be upgraded by rulers, to increase income, sellable items, volunteering peasants.
-Troops/Horses require 1 gold upkeep (meaning that eventually, rulers will be limited to how large of an army they can have, until they conqour more cities)
-Peasants volunteer weekly (100 per basic town, upgradeable)
-Peasants take a week to train into Militia, Militia take a week to train into Veterens, Veterens take a week + 1 encounter in a battle to achieve 'Ace' status.
-It takes a week to train troops, after you have given them their kits (no more buying an army instantly, unless you want a lot of cannon fodder holding weapons they don't know how to use..)
-(As the above may have hinted) Yes, customizeable armies.
-Armies are lead by sergents/captains etc., that command groups of 100, and may retreat depending on how many losses they take (Again, Rome: Total War inspired).
-Rome: Total War inspired, trade can increase kingdom income (+ gold between the kingdoms), troops can be bribed (for high costs), trade can be disrupted (- gold from trade-disrupted kingdom, from specific cities), docks can be blockaded, (- gold from blockade to kingdom from that city), protectorates can be given, ceasefires may come forth, demands for single payments or tribute gold for a set amount of weeks may ensue, depending on what it may be for, gifts of gold to allied kingdoms may occur, and all the other glorious facets of diplomacy... *licks lips*
-Did I mention that Roleplayers have to achieve 50 posts before they can join the army, and must either fight on the front lines, or prove their worthiness in strategy with scholars, before they are recognized as 'officers'?
Here's a little look into the weapons section, specifically, the knives:
Cloth Bound Handle Tanto: (10 gold) (+1 War)
A standard knife, it is a deadly weapon nonetheless. Easy to use for those who enjoy mugging, enjoy close-combat, or
enjoy fighting with a knife, it's cheap, efficient, and it gets the job done fairly well. Don't expect it to
penetrate into the grandest armor, and come out of it in one piece, though, as its a weaker and cheaper model, but,
it's definetly better to have this then nothing at all.
-Bronze/Iron
-Single-Edged
-5 1/2" handle
-6" steel blade
-Includes black leather sheath
-One-handed weapon
-Black-colored wrist strap, tied onto knife
-Can be dual-wielded with other weapon with minimal ill-effect
-Specializes in very close combat
-Medium resistance to breaking.
Standard Tanto Knives: (20/30 gold with double-deal[/color]) (+2/4 War)
This weapon is a standard knife, used for anything from killing, to cutting up food, to surviving in the wilderness.
A useful knife, and definetly a step-up from its cloth-grip cousin, it has a better cutting deal, and is now with an
offer for a double-deal: Twice the knives, double the lost lives! An offer for an additional knife, for just ten
more gold!
-Iron
-Single-Edged
-10" handle(s)
-11 1/4" blade(s)
-Decent leather grip
-Comes with a soft-leather hilt for each
-One-handed weapon
-Is made for dual-wielding with no ill-effect
-Specializes in very close combat
-Medium-high resistance to breaking
Dragon Tanto Knife With Case: (35 gold) (+3 War, +1 Politics)
A weapon that shows of a possibly higher prosperity then the normal peasant. It's a refined knife, so, it'll cut
through weak armors like cloth without snagging, unless it's knot-tied, but otherwise, don't expect it to save your
life. It's top class, though, and makes for a good carving knife, meat knife, or a 'cut-anything you need' knife. A
must for hunters of top-of-the-line, or would-be asassins and/or muggers with luck, taste, skill, or style.
-Iron
-Single-Edged
-7 1/4" handle
-13 1/2" blade
-Black dragon design on blade
-Hilt provides ultimate knife grip of tightly woven strands of black rope
-Includes high-end black leather case set
-One-handed weapon
-Can be dual-wielded with other weapon with minimal ill-effect
-Specializes in very close combat
-High resistance to breaking
More coming later..
I might want to add that I'm also employing a friend of mine to be Emperor. He does have spelling that could use work, but, his main job is to give people titles, possibly quests, and perhaps defend the Han, should someone decide to attempt to conqour them. He has a little bit of RPing experiance on forums (Shadows of the 3 Kingdoms), and has plenty of RPing experiance on games, so, I'm seeing how he does as an admin.
That's all for now, I'll (try to) keep you posted, as I completely remodify my site..
