Courtyard Companion (Kheldar)

[Phae]

Phae walked happily into the courtyard. It was yet another beautiful day and she and Delana her familiar that looked similar to a golden dragon had decided to come out to get some fresh air. She little Jhereg set on her shoulder her violet eyes looking around as she squeaked. Phae couldn't help but giggle.

Sitting under her favorite tree she slipped off her shoes and let her feet sit down in the blades of the grass. She smoothed down the short black skirt she wore over her upper legs. A button down white collared shirt hugged her upper body and her long waist length red hair fell down around her shoulders.

Delana hopped off her mother's shoulder and began rolling around in the sun absorbing it like the giant lizard she really was. Phae chuckled.

"Not too far little one." she said happily.

Delana squeaked and lay in the grass curling up into a small golden ball as she stayed warm and happy. Phae opened her book. Today she was not studying only reading. She began to scan the text with her sapphire eyes as she enjoyed the gentle breeze of the day.

[Kheldar]

"To dwell with just a companion means you are perhaps skilled in fending off annoyances and you're no doubt skilled with a weapon. After all many males don't seem to know when to let off."

Kheldar's usual critical tone was softened since he had just woken up from a pleasent nap under this tree.

Sexy woman. Probably could kill me if I'm correct.

He was in sight of Phae if she looked being almost beside her since he had woken up. A novel in his hand the title obscured as he read.

"Of course it could just be a musing. Given how the students are obviously skilled and the women just as potent as men I'll assume the later that you know how to use a weapon."

Kheldar turned the page in his book as he relaxed against the tree.

[Phae]

Phae looked up at the voice and turned her head in the direction spotting the blonde. She had yet to meet him her brow raised as he seemed to think she knew how to use a weapon. Well, he wasn't wrong there but she was curious as to how he figured that out.

"And .. if I may ask what is it that makes you think I can use a weapon?" she asked as she closed her book setting it aside in the grass the title unseen.

She smiled over at him. She didn't know who he was but there was an arrogance about him that intrigued her as if she wanted to know why it was he carried himself with such an air.

"I'm Phae by the way." she said holding out her slightly calloused right hand. Her sword hand.

[Kheldar]

"Kheldar."

He replied as he shook the calloused hand and when ending the shake he simply took her hand and turned it lightly tracing the callous marks.

"You move with the movement of someone who uses a weapon. Perhaps a sword judging from the way you seem slightly unbalanced without it at your side. A common sight. And your hand is slightly calloused not from a gun grip but, a handle grip belonging to a melee weapon. Your voice and mannerisms suggest a well-endowed family so I assume the callousness is from handling a weapon rather then hardwork."

He was very percise in his wording as he gently let go. He was very percise very percise indeed. Almost too percise as if he was raised to speak his words that way.

"If I'm wrong let me know but, I tend to trust my assumptions."

He gave a small smile as he snapped his book open again.

And if I said too much she could probably smack me. At least the shirt displays her assests nicely...

[Phae]

Phae had to try hard not to laugh or giggle as his hand ran over the callouses on her palm. Her sapphire eyes watched him as he spoke her red hair dancing in the breeze gently as she listened to his speech. She raised a brow as she watched him.

"You're right in your assumptions." she said with a smile as she took her hand back. "I am a swordswoman. I left my blade in my room is all. Just came out to enjoy the beautiful day and to give Delana some outside time."

She pointed to the golden ball of scales in the grass. Delana looked up at the boy with her violet eyes and squeaked happily. Phae chuckled as the little Jhereg came over and nuzzled into her mother's lap before falling asleep.

"Well, looks like reading it out." she said as she scratched her familiar under the chin. She turned back to the man next to her.

"I've not seen you here before, have you been at the academy long?" she asked and realized he was still reading. "Oh, I'm sorry for disturbing you."

[Kheldar]

"Had you been disturbing me I would have not have intiated conversation. You're quite fine I'm fairly adept at multi-tasking."

He saw the lizard. Well probably not a lizard lizard judging from the way the woman spoke but, nevertheless took care of it. He had concluded that it was her familiar of sorts. Or at least that was the assumption but, he trusted his assumptions after all they got him through life well enough. Still the creature showed intelligence and he gave a nod at it with his pale eyes and returned his gaze to the owner.

That is......after I looked at her shapely legs.....

He looked up again and hummed for a moment at her question.

"Yes I have lived in Babylos for several years now but, only recently came to study at the Academy officially."

Her smile is nice.

[Phae]

Did he just.. check me out? Phae asked herself as she looked over at him and blushed slightly unused to attention from anyone but her fiance'. She let her hand run over the scales of Delana who was now sleeping in her lap.

"I've been here for about four months now. I like it here. I grew up in Germany but it's so nice here." she said softly.

She let her eyes look at the boy again. He was still reading which was a bit exasperating as she didn't understand why he was reading and talking to her at the same time. Usually it was a one or the other but with him.. it was intriguing. She decided to pick up her book again to give him some peice as she really didn't want to bother him.

The book was in German and it was a good faerie tale. She placed the book behind Del and let her eyes read the story. The breeze blowing her red locks around her.

[Kheldar]

"Von vorlesung kommt kenntnis."
[From reading comes knowledge.]

Kheldar murmured with a perfect accent as he turned the page in his book. As a military project and his superb genius he had learned plenty of things and was a natural linguist. He himself knowing roughly fifty langauges and the accents to go with them. The military who had taken him had hoped to turn Kheldar into a deadly assassin using his natural magic as the weapon to kill.

"I am envious that you lived in such a beautiful land. I have always wanted to travel Europe and see it for myself. Alas I had a sheltered childhood..."

He flipped the page in his book again and shot a brow up at some of the words.

"My application to the Academy has caused my gaurdian to allow me to broaden my horizens."

He had plenty of money thanks to his parent's life insurance policies and inheritence. He wasn't phased by their deaths really.

"Yet I do not know where to go yet since I haven't made friends my age."

[Phae]

Her head shot up at the German and she grinned widely. She hadn't met anyone she could speak to in German besides Winters and she rarely saw him at all. She giggled at his words and snapped her book closed with one hand.

"Well, you have a friend your age now. And so, since half of that's covered what would you like to do?" she asked giving Delana her book.

"Take this back to the room." she told the little Jhereg who clutched the book in her claws and took flight.

"All right, I'm free. So where to?" she asked with a smile.

His eyebrows shot up and for the first time since he had ever talked to someone he actually snapped his book closed and put, it in his pocket. He gave a brief smile for a moment and stood up then walking in front of her to give her a flicker of a smile on his lips. He streched out some to get the kinks out and offered his hand to help her up.

Those nice sweet breasts....charming voice....how can a guy say no?

"Maybe go get a drink somewhere off the academy grounds? I know of a few places in Babylos that are good being a resident here. I'd say get something in Italy or France since I've been dying to taste the cuisine firsthand rather then magic. Yet, I believe that'd be pushing my luck at first since we just now became friends."

Musn't forget the smile...

Phae saw him smile and close his book and she too smiled. It seemed he would like to do something after all. She took his hand gently and pulled herself up standing next to him she smoothed down her shirt over her frame and smiled up at him.

"How about Italy?" she said with a smile. "My sister studied there for a while and I've never been so I'd actually like to see a bit of it and with todays teleportation system we can be there and back all in one day."

She took her hand back gently and she smiled at him. She was ready to go. It would be fun. An adventure in Italy. She smiled up at him her sapphire eyes bright with happiness.

He thought to himself when she smoothed her shirt and skirt and he resisted the urge to help her dust off. Oh how he was going to be sorely tested during all of this he could sense that right away. He already knew this from the start her bright smile and her shiney....

Shining sapphire eyes....

Maybe she's single....

"Yeah sure let's go."

Kheldar said as he walked with her out of the courtyard and out the front doors of the Academy to the nearest teleportation center.
