There was nothing to see in the courtyard. It was dusk and the academy courtyard was shrouded with shadows and therefore she could not be seen. Hidden easily in the shadows she blended in without fail. Only another of her kind would be able to pick her out and even then it was relatively difficult.
Stepping out of the shadows she was bathed in the rising moonlight and the dying sun. Her skin seemed to glitter slightly in the dying light of the sun. Her strawberry blonde hair fell past her hips in all it's silken glory. Her beautiful butterscotch eyes scanned the area. She had fed just this morning and now she was full and sated. Her luggage had been delivered to her room already her fridge stocked and ready of the blood she would need.
Her pale and beautiful skin was cold to the touch because no blood ran through her body. Dressed in a tight red dress that hugged her bust and flowed out from there around to her lower thighs. The dress was made of flowing sheer fabrics with a black under dress which caused the dress to have a maroon appearance.
Her eyes scanned the area. It was her time to live, her time to shine so to speak. After dusk she could move about without being so noticeable. Though the sun never hurt her it was still a bother and so she tried to avoid it when she could. It was going to be interesting studying here with all these young students. Here where life didn't extend past one hundred years yet she was the exception to the rule.
She sat down on a bench and looked out over the courtyard. A blonde boy sat beneath a tree reading a book. Her keen eyes saw the title. It had something to do with dragons. She smiled. She stood from her bench and made her way to the boy. Her high heels made no noise in the grass as she moved.
"Hey there!" she said happily as her eyes sparkled with delight. "You look awfully lonely!"

Crackle...
Kheldar had been deeply interested in this series of books after having been corrupted by his close friend Phaedra. Currently he had been avidly reading fantasy having to buy an extra shelf for his room to keep up with his reading. Ah the joys of saving monetary funds for one's habits it was always so wonderful. Kheldar had a reading light in his book providing the necessary light for reading so deeply interested in this book that he didn't even sense he was watched for a moment. He shifted where he was sitting a pocky stick between his teeth, pineapple judging from the coloring. He looked up when a voice interrupted his reading.
Crackle...
He gazed at her with a brief lookover for a moment and concluded one thing. Either she was a late night dream sequence or she was someone who lost a few screws. Women should not be in busty dresses in the middle of the night. Something wasn't right.
Crackle...
Either way I have a feeling that I'm screwed...
Not in the good way either.
So what brings her out here...
He looked up at her with a shot up brow.
"Evening, and no it's not that bad. With everyone else asleep I can concentrate on my reading."

There was something about the boy she had to admit was a bit intriguing. Normally humans stayed up during the day and slept through the most fun hours of the day yet this one pined away the evening and night time hours in a book. Yet, there was so much more to life than books.
She sat down in the grass next to him and chuckled at his comment. Smoothing down her dress over her fantastically toned pale legs her almost white skin seemed to glow in a way as she sat there under the tree.
"Most, people like to sleep at night. Why are you so different?" she asked curiously. "I mean don't get me wrong it's totally cool to have someone to hang out with at night, becuase trust me I'm always up all night, but it's just odd is all."
She looked over at him her strawberry blonde hair seemed to glimmer in it's silky lengths next to him. Her beautiful eyes looked at him and a bright smile on her face. Her teeth were there of course she was not afraid of showing her fangs as she smiled brightly.

I don't recall offering her a seat...
Independent thinking...
I like that.
Kheldar turned his attention to her again the moonlight striking the right way to allow himself to take a look at her. Yes indeed she was quite an interesting looking woman and around his age as well it appeared. Her dress seemed to show off that pale skin of hers and he was slightly interested in it for a moment before he marked the page with his thumb not yet closing the book or turning off the reading light. After all it might be worth studying her and committing her to memory in case she proved to be a good friend. Not many were awake at this hour even Phae kept to her room for the most part. Though he was partly glad of the new influence on her some Blackie...as she called it the last time she went to breakfast with him.
Or was it dinner?
Blegh I don't know...
It was then that her question popped up and he blinked slightly at her curiosity and her comment. She seemed to be following his train of thought in this conversation. Or commentary or whatever it was that people insisted that it was called these days to sound brighter.
"The evening and night are quieter hours when everyone else is asleep and one can truly delve into deep thinking," that calm slightly cynical tone came. Surprised or not. Influenced or not. Khel was Khel. "I would welcome the late night company, I find it easier to sleep during the day when it's not so silent."
Silence promotes fear.
It was then that he saw her eyes seemed to match her hair and that smile...
Wait a tic.
SMILE?!
FANGS?!
Normal people would probably be going oh my god or something else that was ridiculous. Kheldar in his usual habit and response however, never seemed frazzled over anything. That irritating calm that drove some people nuts.
That's it...I knew I shouldn't have read that vamp romance and ate those spicey burritos....although it was kicking...still they need warning labels for this if this is what I see...

So he enjoyed the night hours too. She grinned a little and looked over at him. His thumb was in his book and she took it out of his hands with minimal effort. She was not only strong but she also had the element of surprise.
She looked at the book and flipped through the pages and smiled. Dragons huh. She looked over at him and flipped off the little light. He wouldn't be reading anymore so long as they were visiting but her slender finger kept his place.
"Yes, the night holds a silence that is both comforting and fun. Why the night life is amazing. Club dancing and bar drinking. Late night movies and so forth. The night life is sooo much better than day I think. I feel so much more comfortable sleeping during the day." she smiles.
She looked over at him and smiled brightly. She didn't know what this boys name was yet, what an excellent place to start!
"I'm Jade." she said with a bright smile as she extended a hand to shake his.

Cra...
In mid-turn he suddenly found her thumb on his book and in a quick movement the book was out of his hand. This made Khel shoot up a brow at that movement of hers because it was not only fast it was unexpected from anyone except for Phae. Did everyone insist that they pull his book from his hands like that?! Most annoying indeed to say the least as he brushed a locke of his blonde hair aside and turned his attention to this woman. This wasn't a girl no something about her suggested she was a woman. The light was flipped off now but, his eyesight saw she had marked the page.
Ok...so she's bored. Then again so am I now that she took away my book.
Not right...
"Sleeping during the day means the warmth of the day you can curl up into and makes anyone sleep like a log. People don't appreciate the value of sleeping in I say..." Kheldar murmured as he saw her hand extend and she introduced herself as Jade. She certainly didn't look like a Jade...more like a Ruby...snicker...funny...yeah. Khel shook her hand with a firm grip on his part showing he wasn't treating her as a lesser. "Kheldar," he replied. "I'll assume you're new here. When did you arrive?" he asked curiosly.

Jade had opened her mind when she came to this place to get a feel for what the students thought of it and she was still open while Khel was having his little discussion with himself. She chuckled out loud having no reason to hide the fact she could read his mind easily.
"Awww, you mean I'm not entertaining you? What a bummer! And here I thought we would become buddies." she said with a sigh as she winked at him playfully.
She made no move to give him his book back. Honestly, it was rude to read in front of a lady and that's what she was. At 146 years of age she was considered a lady. And damnit, she better be treated like one.
"And to answer your question, I'd say I came here about five minutes and thirty six seconds ago." she grinned. "What about you? You don't look too new so tell me about yourself."

Entertaining?! Wait...yes...date...ask...no no...wait...she reads minds yes...she'll hear it anyways....but....it's still asking....must resist stupid male impulse....must not ruin mood....
Hey...
If she can read guys thoughts...
NO BAD KHEL BAD BAD BAD!
Her playful wink was well charming to say the least and she had an amusing sort of mood. Rather playful and flippant no doubt when she wants to be. Yet she had a style that he liked already and he didn't let the smile twitchy at his lips as he looked at her for a moment. Without even saying a word he tucked a locke of her hair behind her ear to get a better look at her eyes. Yes vampire like eyes the predatorial gaze yet so deep and addictive. The conclusion...
Too many vamp flicks...
Kheldar looked at her again and spoke. "We'll swiping a friend's book isn't good unless you got a better idea," he challenged at her as he looked up into her gaze. Yes the question came and he tapped his fingers for a moment and shrugged leaning against the treeback for a moment. "Well then...."
Too percise...not that it's a bad thing...
"The name's Kheldar my style of magic is a Magitech Knight using technology to substitute for my limited magic arsenal. Limited as in I don't have much energy period and it will probably never increase because the ritual involved is forebidden," he said with a shrug as he turned his attention to her. "I've been with the Academy for a couple weeks now and I've concluded it's not a bad place to be. In fact the people are lively so to speak. Hobbies included reading, models, and designing." He finished and looked at her.
Wonder what kind of food she likes out of the kind that she sure as hell isn't getting from me..............
...
...
...
Well...
Not yet anyways...no bites on the first outing.

And this boy was the epitomy of why she didn't read minds often. He thought too much over analyzed everything. She just wanted to smack him and tell him to pick one. He wanted to ask her out and then he didn't. And then he talked about vampire movies and then .. wow she shut him off it was giving her a headache.
He even went as far as to touch her. Sliding her hair behind her ear and everything. This was something she had not expected mostly because once people saw the fangs they either ran or were scared to say the least. But this boy seemed to have no troubles with what he was doing or what she was. He looked into her eyes the bright beautiful butterscotch was breathtaking.
"Mmm you're right, but it's rude to read when a girl is trying to talk to you." she said with a chuckle as she looked over at him.
He began to describe himself and his time here and Jade took great interest in learning such things. Over the centrury and a half she had been alive she had learned many things. And one was that everyone was different no matter how many humans she had met none were ever the same.
"I'm Jade Wainwright. I'm a mage of blood magic and local vampire. I am from Ireland and have lived longer than most. I am here to further study my magic." she said with a grin.
"So what do you do for fun around here?" she asked with a bright smile on her face and her eyes sparkling with wonder and excitment that not even a century and a half could dull.

So she can be caught off gaurd...
Good.
Khel gave a small smile at her surprise the smile easier to make since his time around Phaedra. Bless that german girl he really did have a blast in Italy, maybe next time they'd go to Germany or England to do some more site-seeing next time she was free. Kheldar noticed that Jade was interested not bored when he spoke of what he was and of the Academy and that was something of a relief since he always found the topic dull. He leaned back for a moment the fact that she was a real vampire already made her interesting but, she was a young vampire. Errr at least by immortality standards anyways.
Supernatural powers have their advantages...
Still...what's blood magic?
Khel blinked for a moment he had heard about blood magic before in fact it among the other darker magics he could more easily learn because of his hellfire ability. "Well for a vampire you seem pretty cool, I won't say harmless since there's no telling what you could have up your sleeve," he said with a small grin. He heard the question about excitement and leaned back against the tree again.
She's better on the second impression.
"Well there's fighting in the traning fields, 'surviving' classes especially if that pervert Winklewood is involved, various events seem to crop up around here, then there's the fact the Academy is right by a link to a teleporter network and connected to a city. So plenty of things to do if the right mind works on it."

The sky grew darker and finally the stars began to show themselves. Sitting in the soft grass next to one Khel something or other Jade found herself smiling. But then again that was what Jade did. She was a very happy girl and definatly enjoyed living her life.
Well as for fun the academy did not look too promising. Surviving classes, and the training grounds just didn't sound very fun in the least. She had different fun things in mind though the teleportations to the world below definatly had it's plus points. She could at least make sure to go to Earth every so often and visit the places she loved the most.
"Well, what is there to do in the city?!" she asked happily. "I mean surely there is something because it's a magical city how can it be dull?"
She looked over at him the hair he had tucked behind her ear came back out into her face in her excitement as she looked up at him with the one eye that wasn't covered. A bright smile on her face that on anyone else would indeed be cute and happy but on her in a way the fangs seemed to tone it down a bit.

"To be honest I have yet to explore the city it's something that I'd be willing to do if you're not amused enough by me," he countered to one of her earlier comments Khel not phased by the loss of his book as he took it back but, didn't open it. In fact the most he did was slide a bookmark into his place and make sure it was completely closed as he turned his attention to the vampiress that was in front of him. Normal people would probably be freaking out slightly at her smile but, to Khel a smile was a smile there was nothing to change it.
This conversation isn't so bad. I'm glad she doesn't satisfy the typical vampire cliches. I'd like my neck without holes.
"So we could make an outing at your convenience since I'm not the type that picks times."

Jade grinned, she couldn't help it as he took his book back. She didn't mind of course so long as he wasn't rude about it. And he wasn't. Slipping a bookmark into the pages he closed it and set it aside so that they could talk more. The boy was indeed intriguing and she couldn't help but want to get to know him more.
"Pick a time eh? What about now? I'm not busy, you're no longer busy. Sounds like a plan to me. Lets go clubbing!" she said with a bright smile as she stood the silken folds of her dress swaying to the breeze as she held her hand out for him.
It would be fun actually coming here if she had someone to hang out with all the time at night. It would make life much more liveable since most people would only be out during the day. Which she could do except she'd have prismatic rainbows coming off her skin while exposed to the light.
"Come on, lets go party!" she chuckled with a bright grin on her face. Her strawberry blonde hair falling down around her.

Kheldar gave a small smile as he put his book in an internal pocket in his windbreaker jacket. He was wearing black slacks, shirt, and slacks but, not the deep deep pure black but, the slightly blue tinge to go better with his hair. He took her hand and easily stood up gazing into her eyes for a moment having not expected her wanting to go now. He did however, say for her to pick a time and he sure as hell wasn't going to back down on it.
It's not like I can honestly say I have anything better to do.
Though I'm not sure dancing is in my repitoire of skills...
He streched out languidly for a moment as he began crossing the grass of the courtyard with her walking beside this woman. She had certainly sparked Kheldar's interest and curiousity the personality not to shabby either to say the least.
"So what kind of clubs are you into? I'm sure you know the places to go better then I do."
