Jyo sighed pleasently feeling the wind flow through his hair and the feathers on his wings as he banked around one of the many towers of the Academy. He flapped a few more times gaining lost speed and then held his wings out stiffly and caught some of the thermals from the Academy.
One positive thing Jyo found about his death was the flight given to him by his wings. When he used magic to fly it was always for some true purpose and drained him terribly. Nor did he move fast. Now he could fly and it took no energy besides his own physical stamina and he could soar at speeds where the wind tugged at him and whisteled in his ears.
Several apprentices looked up seeing Jyo soar above them. Not many had become accustomed to the site. Of course even less would have known of Jyo. Granted he had gained much power during his time at the Academy. He didn't have a high profile. Which he liked. it let him just seem more average. Now I'm anything but average. Not that it matters. He thought circeling over some very good thermals for a while before banking to his right and heading to one of the many courtyards.
He descended quickly and about thirty feet up moved his wings to catch the air and slow his fall. He landed lightly and bent his legs at the knees slightly then his wings were folded behind his back. He looked up to the sky and smiled. It was a wonderful morning and one that made him feel good to still be on this earth. he had plans to see Zaire a little later that day. he liked to check up on her every so often but it had been needed less and less. Due to Alastin's help and Jyo finally snapping out of his disasterous mindset and actually helping her. Zaire had been recovering well.
I should have stayed in my dorm until I recovered. Due to my meddeling I nearly lost her twice. Well the first time was a failed attempt to use my spell in a way it apparently can't work. But the second time was truely due to my mental state at the time. I'm glad I recovered as well. Otherwise Zaire might not be with us anymore. He thought but then shook himself mentally. It was one thing to remember and learn from one's mistakes. It was another thing entirly to dwell on them and let them overtake you. Jyo knew how badly he had done. But it was over and he knew what to watch out for in himself from now on.
Jyo walked to the edge of one of courtyard he was in. The dropoff showed a wonderful view of the city below. Jyo loved this spot. It wasn't seceret but it was a private spot to him. No matter how many people were there Jyo was normally left alone free to think about what he wanted or free to think of nothing at all.

Torm laughs loudly in the cool morning air, feeling that thrill that accompanies the feeling of the free air blowing around you on all sides. He banks sharply to the right and up, catching a thermal from the Academy and rising higher towards the morning sun.
This was not the first time he had tested the fold-out gliding wings he had installed on the ladder, and nor would it be the last, if it was always this great. Torm kneels/crouches on top of the ladder and handles it through sheer force. The lightweight leather wings to either side of him flutter slightly as they catch the ample moving air that exists here in the upper stratosphere.
Torm swoops down towards the academy below, and then wrenches the craft back, sending it soaring back skyward. This was too much fun! There was a lot of work to do, though, so Torm brings the thing down in a smooth dive like a landing plane. He taps on the ladder frame, and four wheels flip out from the underside with a whirr and a click. Now, Torm stands up straight, wavering a little to keep balance. The wings click back into the sides of the ladder with a snap click, and the ladder drops the last couple inces to the flagstones and rolls along; Torm is now riding along like it's an oversized skateboard. A kickflip later, and he's standing on the ground again, ladder under arm.
Torm looks about. This is a beautiful courtyard...I should come here and relax once in a while... Only now does Torm notice that he's apparently not the only one with that idea. There stands Jyo, resplendent in his angelic form, looking out over the city.
Torm was not sure if he had ever made the man's acquaintence, per se. They may have had a class together at some point, and some friends had at least pointed him out to Torm though. The reason the memory of the man was more fresh in his mind than it might have been was that his name had recently come up in some conversation. Most knew few details, but apparently he had been through some sort of rough ordeal. To Torm, it was clear that something was different...he hadn't had those wings before, had he?
"I'm sorry for intruding on your solitude," Torm says. "I'll leave, if you like." Torm truly would leave with no hard feelings if it was not a good time, but if not unwelcome, he would not mind having a look around the place; the view was quite awesome. Well, as awesome as it gets when not in flight.

Jyo turned slightly looking over his shoulder hearing a voice from behind him. He saw a man and knew he had heard of the guy before. His was known as Torm for the most part. Jyo knew that wasn't his full name but hadn't heard what it was. He fully turned to face him and gave a smile.
"No worries. I usually come here just to get a little silence and peace. But some company isn't unwelcome." He said wand walked over holding out his right hand. "I belive I've seen you around. I'm Jyo Mashima. I know you are called Torm. Might I be graced by hearing your full name." he said. From what he could tell Torm was an inventor with his creations having magic effects. Jyo had been interested and wondered if her could get around to finding out what different things the man had made.

Torm smiles back and takes the proferred hand in a handshake. "Hey, Jyo, glad we could finally meet; I've heard a bit about you myself." Indeed the name Jyo Mashima is accredited with belonging to a person of significant skill and seniority within the student body here at Arcane. Outside of that, Torm knows little about the man, and is in fact more than a little curious about him; in comparison, Torm has been at the academy for quite a bit less time.
"The full name is Tormaigh MacRagallach," he continues. "It's pretty hardcore Gaelic for a name these days, but I don't know what else I'd call myself, so it works."
Releasing the man's hand, Torm turns slightly to look out over the city. At this hour of the morning, there is a lot of bustle going on; Babylos is an early-rising city, it seems. "So how have you been these days, Jyo? I know we've never really chatted, but I've seen you around the halls. You seem different now, though..." The wings are what Torm means by this, for starters; they were something Torm was pretty sure was new, and wings are something major to just not have one day and have on the next.

"Interesting Name. A nice one but interesting. It's a pleasure. I think I'll stick with calling you Torm though. It seems to suit you." he said and clasped his hands behind his back when the handshake broke.
He looked back over the city and sighed slightly when he was asked how things were going. Torm's interest was clear. "Well long story short is that I have been killed and allowed to come back. There are several factors and please don't be insulted that I don't delve into them. it's jnot exactly a pleasent thing. But I guess on the whole I'm doing better. Adjusting and so forth. It isn't easy but porgress is rapid." he said then Looked over to the man next to him.
"And what of yourself. How do you like the Academy?" he asked.

Torm is a little sorry he had asked; it was clearly not the sort of subject that was tactful to bring up. He hoped that he hadn't offended Jyo. Killed and allowed to com back though...Torm can't even begin to grasp that concept. Clearly, Jyo had seen his share of hardship.
"Well, I'm glad things are on the upswing for you. Feel free to tap me as a resource if need arises." Torm says in reply to Jyo's abbreviated explanation of his troubles.
Torm waves an arm aroundat the surroundings as he answers Jyo's question. "This place is amazing! I can practice my crafts freely and be my own person, and get some serious training in the process. Most people are pretty decent, too." Torm continues looking out over the city while leaning nonchalantly on his ladder.
"So Jyo, what sort of magic do you practice, if you don't mind me asking?" Torm had been curious before about what sort of skills the long-standing student was capable of, and now, who knew what sort of other powers he had acquired along with the wings? In that respect, he and Jyo are quite similar; both are in the process of discovering the joy of free flight.

"Well I once practiced a large variety of magic. Mostly fire and lightning elemental powes. Some wind as well. I had a broad range of attack spells and different ways to conrtol metals through lightning and with wind I could fly. I had slight telepathic powers plus creation and dustruction magic as well as some grasp on time magic as well." He said thinking back to his styling. It truly was diverse and Jyo could easily adapt in combat.
"Now I have several powers of what people would call light. Certain blasts a lightning attack plus a healing ability along with other powers as well." He said leaning against a pillar. "I must ask. Is that ladder a weapon among other things? If so I would be most interested in seeing it used at some point." Hen said

From the sounds of it, Jyo had an incredible range of powers, now augmented by his new light-based magics. "Impressive indeed!" Torm says, meaning it completely.
The ladder. No one had ever really bothered to ask about it, now that Torm thought about it. He is quite proud of his smaller mechanical marvels, but the ladder is the creation he takes the most pride in. "Aye, the ladder is my weapon of choice, and it has lots of other uses. I hire myself out as a contractor and handyman in the city, and it's an invaluable tool on the job." He taps a finger on the frame a few times, and a dozen or more blades flip or slide out of the frame with a whirr and click; some extending out the ends, some coming straight from the sides, and a pair that look like long runners or skates that run the full length of one side. "It's good for getting around, too; I basically just finished testing the wings."
"Also, it's useful for climbing on," Torm says, smiling as he states the obvious, and another tapping later, the blades and stuff retract again with a 'click-whirr.'
"Well, if you'd like to see it in action, we could go for a quick flight. It's a really great day for it, anyway; the wind is perfect," Torm suggests. It would be interesting to see those wings of Jyo's in action, too; Torm had never seen the like anywhere, let alone being used.

Jyo chuckled slightly. "Sort of an all purpose ladder. It does what a normal ladder does and much much more. Very unique. I like it." Jyo said with a grin. He thought of Torm's offer and then shrugged. "Sure why not. I would like to see a man-made set of wings in action. perhapes we could soar down to the training are and I'd get t see you'r combat abilities. I'm sure they are to be reckoned with from what I have heard of you." he said
