One thing that never gets boring up in this school is the sunset Thought Rakel to himself as he leaned against a pillar on one of the balconies of the academy which looked out over the city below. Rakel loved the view up here. He came here almost every sunset and normally he was alone. He didn't mind that much though. After all a guy needs some time to himself every now and then. And this way he could let his mind wander without distraction.
The large katana was leaned up against the wall next to him not being ignored but not having any of Rakel's focus on it. Which among most swordsmen was almost considered blasphemy. But Rakel knew he had nothing to worry about. While he lived no force on earth could ever get his weapon from him. He chuckled at the thought of the efforts of the last student who tried that. he didn't even have to move for it.
His eye was wide open as he took the view of the city in all at once. He had only been down there once. He found that the crowds were not something he liked so he had done his best to avoid that place after his first time. But he couldn't help but admit it was a fascinating place. So many things you could never find anywhere else. Hell even after his time spent here he still found the academy impressive. He was always learning something new each day. And for a person who loved learning about the world around them the place was bliss.
His right hand raised up the the bandage around his torso. The pain from the wound was long gone but it still itched and made him uncomfortable every so often. the same with his right forearm. But today had been extremely bad. He was wanting to be rid of this curse on his wounds but so far even the best healers in the medical wing had not been able to do anything.
He put the wounds out of his mind. thinking about them made him think back to his two friends who he left behind to come here. Granted he could visit them but that would be a rare occurrence at this rate. He had too much to learn here to be going back home for a while. "Still this place is worth it." He muttered to himself as he closed his eye again and once more let his mind drift.

Malix zooms around a corner of the vast building, riding the thermals on her luminescent wings. Though the air whipping past her is quite cold, especially in a tank top, the warm sun on her skin and the press of the wind feel so real, so intoxicatingly tangible, that the trade-off is worth it. She flings her arms out in front of her, like superman or something, and closes her eyes to enjoy the feeling for a moment. Besides, with her history, could such a small chill be worth complaining about?
With a somewhat graceful swoop, Malix curves upright and plants a landing on a balcony. As she looks about at the scene, she suddenly notices that the balcony has another occupant! With a small shout, she stumbles and falls over in surprise, and the wings disappear as if flicked off by a lightswitch.
Malix sits up, groaning, and rubs the back of her head where she had hit the ground with it, and her face reddens fiercely. She doesn't know what to say. For all her life, she had hardly ever shown anyone the wings, and most of the people she did show either made fun of her or considered her a freak from that point onwards. Oh, surely things were different here at AA, but she still couldn't be comfortable or unembarassed about it just like that.
This was, of course, only one thing on a long list of stuff that hadn't gone right for her since arriving recently. There always seemed to be something that made it hard to make a good impression on anyone here thus far. For example, Malix is sure that this guy thinks she's a klutz and a spaz already. So, feeling extremely foolish, she props herself into a sitting position, still massaging her rattled skull. "Ow..."

Rakel did not fail to hear the rushing of air as Malix flew. But he figured to be a bird or some such thing though it did sound louder than normal. It was when he heard the small shout that his eye snapped open and he saw what looked to be a girl roughly his own age maybe younger in front of him. He noticed was curious as to how she got there as she didn't pass him. He figured this girl must have been the source of the noise he heard.
He walked over leaving the sword unattended against the wall and with a surprisingly warm voice from someone with his appearance he spoke. "Must have been a rough landing. You okay?' He asked holding out his right arm as the left was utterly useless and tucked in his coat in a resting position with his hand hanging out.
Though his scarf covered his face up the the bridge of his nose it was clear he was giving a small friendly smile from the look in his eye.

Malix looks up at the man, surprised. He's not laughing at me? ...This is something new... she thinks.
"I....I'm fine...thanks...," she says quietly in response to his question, and takes the proferred arm and stands back up with his help. "Whew..." she sighs, and dusts herself off briefly, and then gets a first good look at the man, who seems to be only a little older than her, if at all, though he is a good bit taller. He does seem a bit forbidding by appearance, but not scary. Especially with the kind voice. His face is mostly hidden in a scarf or something, but his eyes are smiling. And the man's other arm...
"Oh my, you're wounded! You're all right too, right?" she says with some concern in her voice, but then looks down and reddens a bit again as her shyness kicks back in. What are you doing, Malix? Don't pry into this nice man's business! She silently scolds herself.

"Good to hear." He said in response to her answer. He noticed her examining him and he took the time to do the same. She looked human but she seemed to have some other racial look to her. But he couldn't tell what. The thing that stuck out ot him were her scars as he had seen no weapon that would do that. he figured it to be a subject best left alone.
He gave a slight chuckle in response to her question. "I'm perfectly fine. This left arm has been useless for some time now. I'm used to it at this point. I appriciate the concern though. My name is Rakel. What's your's?' he asked.

"...I'm Malix. ...Nice to meet you, Rakel." Malix says, and breaks out in a warm grin. It's something she doesn't usually do, but she can't help it; in the past, friendly people like Rakel had been few and far between at times, so she appreciates it all the more when they show up.
"Sorry about...ah...dropping in on you..." Malix says. The reason for Rakel's visit to the balcony is obvious: the view of the sunset from here is especially breathtaking, even considering that the sunset looks amazing from almost anywhere on the floating isle to begin with. If there's one thing understands, it's solitude. How precious it is at times, and how hellish at others. "Do you come here often? The view is amazing."

"Well it's nice to meet you too Malix." He said and then looked back over the grounds and the city below and saw the last rays of the sun. He had a calm rather peaceful look on his face seeing it and then looked back to Malix. "Don't worry about dropping in as you say. It's no problem. And yeas I come here most every day to just relax and reflex on the days occurances."
He reached down for the flask at his side and took a drink out of it. It was a potion to make sure the cursed wounds wouldn't bleed much so he didn't have to worry about blood loss. he then returned the flask to his side and spoke again. "So why did you come crashing down? I assume it was you I heard rushing through the air after all." He said curiously.

Malix blushes redly again at his question, and looks down as she explains. "..well, I was...well, it's a really nice day..., so I was out for a ...a flight. I'm...part fairy, so I can do that." Malix looks back up and meets his gaze, biting her lip as if expecting to be laughed at. What a wierdo I must sound like, talking like this and being part-fairy and flying and such...
Malix shakes her head briefly to get a lock of her her face-framing blonde hair out of her eyes. Oh, great, another thing to be self-conscious about... she thinks wryly. She hadn't even brought a hat, and flying about in the wind always makes one's hair messy.
She continues, "And I landed fine, but then I noticed you, and I guess I startled myself and fell over. Yep, I'm a spaz." Malix laughs nervously a little bit, trying to get comfortable. She's getting there, really!

Rakel raised an eyebrow slightly. He hadn't heard of such a thing as a half human/fairy. But he decided to not go into that unless she brought it up more. "So you can fly naturally. I'm envious. Some of the spell types I do not have the ability to reach are ones that allow flight." He said clearly being quite honest. Rakel always thought it would be wonderful to be able to fly through the sky.
"Well I apologize for starteling you. I don't normally see others up here at this time. Not that I mind the company really it's just very peacful up here during sunset." He said feeling the tempurature dropping. He liked it when it was cold. It helped him stay alert and be able to think more clearly.

"Oh, don't worry about the startling. My own fault, really. Yeah, it really is nice out here. It's surprising that you've had this place to yourself all these evenings, really, " Malix comments.
Now she shivers a little; it's getting cold out, now that the sun has largely disappeared beyond the horizon. Her baggy jeans are fine for this weather, but the sparse tank top is definitely not adequate. "Pardon me for a moment," she says, and tucks a hand behind her back. After a moment of concentration and the channeling of a little energy, a plain sweatshirt appears in the hand with a 'pop.' Malix tugs it on quickly, blushing again. "A little relaxation is what keeps people sane, I think."

"True it probably is what keeps me from going crazy." He said and gave a nod in response to her asking him to wait a sec. He walked over to retrive his sword picking it up and resting it on his shoulder with a casual grace not usually seen with such a weapon. he turned looking back seeing that Malix had produced a sweater. He figured that was the cause of the popping noise he had just heard.
"That must be a useful ability. What other things can you make appear?" He asked. He had learned a bit about conjuration even though it wasn't in his power to use it.
