Roy had been having a rather good day, so far. He had read up on various ways to kill the undead, and found he was capable of nearly 35 ways...theoreticaly. He needed to train both his body and mind to prepare himself for the threat of vampires, as he had sensed something dark brewing in the lower academy.
He meditated in the small field, trying to gain controll of his magic once more. After an hour, he stood, and performed a few backflips, followed by some more basic acrobatics. He absent-mindedly wondered what his two elementals were up to, because they had stayed in his dorm for the day.
"Damnit....I need somebody to train with. is ANYBODY here?"

"I am." This simple answer came from the edge of the training grounds, where there were two other mages, one standing, the other... not. The other, who had been rather weak, was lying on the ground and was suffering from some rather nasty lacerations, and soon would be from blood loss. Healers were already on the scene, though, so there were no real worries. One might notice the standing mage tucking a scroll that was last seen unravelled into his red robe. "And it just so happens that I'm available. What luck." This was said in an almost sadistic tone, as the mage turned toward Roy and started walking forward. He stopped around ten feet away, and simply stood. Roy would now have a good look at the mage: red robe, gold pattern on the chest, long black hair, and a piece of cloth around the waist. "My name is Kinkatsu Nanashi. Yours?" OOC: Try to guess which spell(s) took down the NPC. It shouldn't be too hard, if you look at my bio .

"Roy Atenwood." Roy said, in a largely unreadable tone. The fact of the matter was, Nanashi had startled him. Badly. He had even dropped his staff.
He could already hear anyone around thinking "What a loser!"
But, hey, it was true. He looked at the young man who had challenged him, and said "Well, let's get started."
He jumped back, and spun his staff into a "Ready" stance. He diddn't intend to screw around this time, and would be ready for almost anything. He held one hand foreward, ready to use a small flame to intercept projectiles, and he was ready to intercept melee atacks with his staff.
He wasn't going to make any mistakes this time. No underestimating people, no moves make to take down "Normal" humans. He would give this his all.

What appeared to be a defensive position. So this Roy Atenwood expected Nanashi to make the first move. Well, it was traditional for the challenger to go first, so...
Nanashi drew his sword. Generally a good thing to have out. He placed both hands on the handle, and muttered:
"Break."
He twisted the handle, revealing that there was not one, but two blades; one for each side. Once the sword was in place, Nanashi muttered again:
"Lock."
It would now stick in place. After this, the sword was placed in the right hand which then went limply to Nanashi's side. The other hand went into Nanashi's robe and started fishing around. What to start with... Metal and earth were eliminated beause they were defensive. Water was mostly used for defense, also, and fire was a little extreme to start with... Wind seemed so... Repetetive. That left wood.
Nanashi pulled one of his (semi) many scrolls out and unrolled it on the ground in front of him. Then he placed two fingers in the center and uttered a single word.
"Wood."
The result would be, after about a second, several root look-alikes coming out of the ground around Roy and wraping around him, restraining him. Nanashi would then stand up quickly and start sprinting toward Roy, almost shouting another word.
"Ignite!"
Instantly, both blades of Nanashi's sword, which was now held high, ablaze. This combined with the 'roots' might cause extreme panic to one unused to combat, or simply extreme pain. Regardless, the next move would be Roy's...

"I don't think so!" Roy shouted, as he took to the air at the firs sign of an attack. His jump carried him behind Nanashi, who had lit his weapon(s) ablaze.
I won't go down with cheap tricks!
Roy landed, and quietly said "Soanates.", launching a huge wall of invisble energy at Nanashi. It was non-lethal, and would merely stun the man for a moment. Roy fell into step behind it, ready to attack with his staff once it hit Nanashi.
((OOC: Sorry for the wait, I'm having issue IRL.))

OOC: It's only one sword, it's just double sided.
IC: All right. So Roy had evaded the wood, and now would probably follow up with his own attack. Nanashi stopped, extinguished his sword, and watched Roy's flight. It was quite high: higher than most people could jump. That probably meant he was using some spell to assist his jumping. Noted. Once Roy landed, he looked suspiciously like he was casting a spell... Time to put up a defense.
Nanashi pulled out another scroll, and repeated the same motion he had used for wood. Only this time, he muttered "Earth." Directly in front of the scroll, a large wall of earth came out of the ground. It was Nanashi's speed shield, but this time, it didn't help. The physic energy went straight through the solid earth, hitting Nanashi with absolutely no deterioration of force. Nanashi was knocked clean off his feet, and laid dazed on the ground for a minute.
Now, there were two possible situations. One, it took him two long to get around the wall and Nanashi would be back on his guard. Two, Roy got around the wall in time to catch Nanashi entirely vulnerable. If the first situation happened, Nanashi would respond in a way appropriate for whatever Roy was doing. If the second, well, it's obvious.

Can't go around fast enough...he'll be back on guard....I'll go over it!
Roy used ihs simple jumping spell once more, and cleared the earth wall. Spinning his staff over his head, he came down at Nanashi, with a sweeping blow from the air, with the left end of the staff. "Kyaaaa!" He screamed, as he came down at his opponent.
This guy has some powerful spells......I hope I don't screw this up.

Over the wall... Hardly surprising, as Roy seemed to have assisted jumps. But who really cared about whether or not the response was surprising when there was a sizable piece of metal heading for your ribcage? But what could Nanashi do, if he couldn't exactly move? Well, he had to try.
He attempted to lift his sword. Nothing. Move it at all. Wait, a twitch! Not good enough. That left magic. He could try to retract the staff... Well, you never know until you try. So, focusing his metal elementalism, Nanashi tried to push that staff back into it's folded-up state. This helped. Did it push the staff back some? Yes. Did it save Nanashi from an agonizingly momentum-filled blow to his ribcage that only miraculously stayed intact? No.
Ow.
"You're good."
Nanashi was really only trying to stall so that he could get some movement back here...
"I'll give you that. But not good enough."
Those few seconds were enough. Nanashi raised his arm, if painstakingly, and grabbed the staff near where Roy was holding it. Then, some fire engulfed the grabbed area, the heat spreading along the staff, not far enough to reach Nanashi's torso, but definitely far enough to reach Roy's hand. The result? Probably a second-degree burn on the palm, and a dropping of the staff. Mostly, it was just to get Roy off of Nanashi. Disarming him was an added plus, though it was unlikely the weapon was relied on.
After another couple of seconds in which Roy would be feeling his burn, most likely, Nanashi brought his now mobile feet up and placed them square in Roy's stomach, pushing as hard as he could. Anything for a bit of recuperation.
OOC: I guess I should be keeping track of that, to... All right.
Break+Lock: 1 (Total, not each) Scroll of wood: 3 Sword Ignite: 1 Scroll of earth: 3 Messing around with metal and fire: 3 total Total: 11 Remaining: 14

SON OF A BITCH, MY HANDS!
Roy's hands burned like hell, all of a sudden. Heat had traveled up his staff. It wouldn't leave any visible burns, due to his intesive training with his old teacher, Reydan, but it still hurt like hell.
Then he felt feet plant against his stomach, and push off. He was lifted off of the ground briefly, and moved backwards about five feet.
All without dropping my staff. I'm improving. Maybe the vampires and dream-demon CAN be beaten.
He went into a crouch for a split second, and took off, straight at Nanashi. Without magical assistance, he could easily pull a running jump over a human-sized person. In midair, he twisted so that he was facing Nanashi, and thrust his staff toward his back, his hands still smoking.
((Disadvantages: Minor Burns: Str -1 (Thank you intensive fire training : P))

Holy crap. He's still holding on to it...
Oh well. Time to stand up. Nanashi stood up, still holding his sword. His arms felt like lead and his legs felt like jelly, but he was standing and he could fight back. Well, now he had to deal with Roy charging him. Then jumping, and attepting a swing at Nanashi's back. Nanashi tracked all of this with his eyes, and when the swing came, spun and knocked it out of the way with the blade that was on the side that a blade isn't usually on on a sword (From now on, that's 'backhand' and the other is 'forehand').
Then, with the forehand blade, Nanashi aimed a slash at Roy's right side. There wasn't nearly enough force in it to do any serious damage, but it would be a hit... if it hit.
OOC: No mana used.
Status: No recovery yet.

Well, now I'm bleeding.
Roy had been slashed along the side with that kick-ass sword, and even though it haddn't been deep, it kinda hurt, and it would hinder him slightly, as drawing breath caused the wound to contract and expand.
"Damn......" Roy breathed. He still wouldn't give up, though. If Roy couldn't manage to become a better fighter, his home was doomed.
Blood dripped slowly from his side as he slid his feet into stance again. He broke into a run, and insted of jumping over, or feinting to the side, he would get right up in Nanashi's face, hand held out, and shout the fammiliar word.
"SOANATES!"
With that, he would attack with his staff, as Nanashi was stunned once more. He would sweep the staff around in an arc, spinning with it, and take Nanashi in the side of the head, near the temple.
EDIT: Forgot to do this:
((Spell used: Soanates. Mana consumed: 3 Mana remaining: 7))

A hit! Yay. Now, to deal with the inevitable retaliation. Sonates? Well, whatever that was, it couldn't be friendly. It was possible it was the same stun spell from before... Well, from THIS range, dodging wasn't really an option, and it couldn't be blocked by a solid object... So, stop any follow-up. Fast as Nanashi could, he pulled out one of his remaining scrolls, unrolled it, and shouted:
"Metal!"
The result was a large portion of metal erupting from the scroll, and quickly molding into a cocoon around Nanashi. Sure enough, it was the stun spell... but now Nanashi was completely covered. No follow up this time, unless Roy could break through the metal. Unfortunately, Nanashi wasn't getting through it without loweing his defense, but who cared when he couldn't attack? Now it was just him and the darkness, inside this airtight cocoon, recuperating...
OOC: Scroll of metal: 3 Total: 3 Remaining: 11 Status: Recover 1 str, dex, and end. -2 to each... again... Total: -3 str, dex, end.

Well, this is just GREAT! Time to just beat the crap out of the damn thing.
"Damnit! STOP HIDING! HAAAAAH!" Roy screamed in an inarticulate rage as he struck te metal cacoon with his staff, over and over again. He was hitting it fast enough to cause sparks to fly off of his staff.
"GET THE HELL OUT HERE!"

OOC: I forgot to add this on to the last one: I run out of air in 3 posts. 2 now.
IC: Nanashi could feel the vibrations of Roy smacking his little hiding place. But he couldn't hear a word; not when sound sent such weak vibrations that couldn't hope to get through an inch of solid metal. And there were no gaps.
Again, Nanashi waited to regain his motion, then he made an attempt to pinpoint where Roy was. He got a general idea, also from his memory of where he had been when Nanashi hadn't shielded himself, and planned his next course of action. And he had a verbal spell for it and everything.
"Metal part two."
Several spikes came out of the outside of the cocoon, one headed for Roy. Nanashi hoped to god that either his accuracy was off, or Roy was quick enough to mostly dodge it, or both: he didn't want Roy dead, and if he hit Roy in, say, the chest, that's what would happen. Nanashi didn't complete the rest of the spell: Metal part two, if completed and accurate, was no doubt a lethal attack.
OOC: Metal part two: 3 Total: 3 Remaining: 8 Status: -3 str, dex, end. Air: Two posts.

I don't think so!
Roy had gone into a sort of battle rage, and was reacting much quicker than he normaly would. As the spikes rushed out of the metal, he did a quick backflip, landed on a spik, and pushed off of it, using his jumping spell.
This time, instead of jumping horizontaly, he went almost fully vertical. At least 40 feet in the air, he flipped himself so he was vertical, with his hand pointing down at the metal cacoon.
"Soanates!" He yelled once more, sending it straight down at the coccoon, and propelling him another four feet in the air.
He pointed his staff downward, as he started to fall. If Nanashi diddn't leave the cacoon, this would crack it open. A 40 foot fall would build up the energy to crack it, and the enchantment on the weapon would make it strong enough to withstand the impact.
This is my last chance...I'm almost spent.
