Tristan saw the blue flame. [Now this guy plays zelda what the hell?] It was a damn good idea though, once Tristan got his hands on some decent shadow elemental, he would have to try that. The bullets were diverted, but the force cracked the spike in several places. Small cracks though they were, it would be enough.
The trees began to fall and Tristan didn't feel like jumping back out of range of seeing Mathias properly so, what he did do was: "Igneus." The black dragon exploded in a ball of fire as Tristan lept up. Igneus immerged from the flames in his full gurth and let out a savage roar. The hunter landed on his steed and the pair hovered high over head. He looked down at Mathias and his spike thing and put away his handguns. The hunting rifle came out next and he made a mental order for Igneus to keep as still as possible.
Tristan got on his stomach and aimed right at the frozen spike. He squeezed off three rounds that would hit right at an angle near the top of the spike that would send cracks down the length of the fronzen bit of strings. These bullets had the same enchantment as the handguns, but were even more powerful. Two more rounds would be fired at a vantage point on the spike that would finish breaking it appart, leaving mathias open for another burst of three bullets that would most likely hit him.

When Mathias saw the trees coming down, he wretched his sword from the earth. He saw Tristan mount his dragon as he laughed "You're too predictable, Tristan".
He pointed his sword right at the dragon and whispered to his sword, "it's ok, baby, one more time and i should be able to handle the rest".
The trees around the stadium went dead as the blade absorbed their energy, setting into this attack as tristan began to aim. Once more it cast coldfire, this time wreathing the dragon in it. The coldfire wouldnt freeze it, it was too big and strong to freeze, but the sheer chill of this fire would cause the dragon to go numb, especially around the wings, leaving the two unable to escape the plummet into the massive bloodsucking bush.

Igneus reared back, flying straight upward away from the blue/black flames. "Damnit." He said, holding onto his hunting rifle and one of the black dragons neck spikes. The hunter stood on his partners shoulder as he bent his armored neck and shot a massive jet of yellow and orange flames. The two streams of fire met and canceled out. The dark icey quality of Mathias' flames was instantly heated to a negative state by the intense heat of the spewings of the giant maw.
There would be some remnants of dark energy left, but if they went to attack, Tristan had a spell of his own to counter them. He may have even had a way to fight the vines that seemed to suck the life force from other animals that he hadn't thought of before. Tristan pointed his hunting rifle over Igneus' shoulder and fired four rounds to where he'd last seen Mathias. The dark sword weilding man wouldn't be able to see the bullets coming, he wouldn't even be able to see Tristan past the two fires.

The bullets struck just a small ways to the side of mathias. He knew never to stay where he attacked, and since tristan couldnt see mathias, he'd have no way of knowing where he went.
After the shots were fired, mathias saw his opprotunity and jumped strait at the dragon. Using the wind for his flight, it would split the funnel of flames around him, but noone had a way of knowing mathias was in the red cloud until he was close enough for the dragon to sense it. Since the black flame was of his making, it couldnt hurt him, and if the dragon snapped its mouth shut now, the coldfire would continue forth and freeze him.
Mathias would be close enough to the muzzle now to do his attack. He unhooked a grenade and set the same wind incantation on it, hurling it into the throat of the beast. If he snapped his muzzle shut to the grenade, the flames of mathias would surely overcome the both of his enemies. Because of the wind attatched to the grenade, it would travel the speed of a bullet which would blow through the dragons tongue if it got in the way. Infact, the grenade would lodge itself into the back of the dragons throat a mere second before exploding. And on top of that, these grenades were infused with fire magick, which would increase the blast force of it. This dragon had a tough hide, but it's throat would surely be breechable.

Tristan didn't hear any thing that indicated that his bullets hit. Then again, one wouldn't hear any thing over the two roaring flames from that far away. Even one with hearing as good as any vampire. Unbeknownst to Tristan, Mathias was charging through his own flame. The cold and dark nature of the flame, let alone the fact that it was Mathias' own attack, prevented the air from errupting around him in a swirling vortex of explosive force.
The man even threw a grenade through the dark fires without any consequence, but when that grenade reached Igneus' fires, the wind around it ignited and the frag exploded, causing an outward burst of flame in the converging pillars of heat and cold a couple of feet into the dragons fire. Most of the frag went straight outward, away from the areas of firey pressure. A couple went along the firey paths, but none would hit Igneus. Whether any would hit Mathias was undeterminable. Also if and when Mathias flew into Igneus' flames of actual heat, the air surrounding him would errupt in explosion, causing him massive damage. Even more damage than what Roy had taken when Tristan used his Kamataichi bomb attack for the first time.

Mathias heard the faint boom over the roaring flames. He was struck multiple times by peices of metal pinned between the cones of flame, but they just gave him a light tap before yeilding aside. Mathias entered the flame of the dragon but realized his fatal mistake much too late. He saw the flame collapsing on him quick, there was nothing he could do, so he just squeezed his eyes shut and awaited his death.
He opened his eyes perfectly fine and on the ground... what happened? There was a pool of icewater around him and his sword seemed worse off than before. It must have used its last bit of energy on an ice coffin using the shadow augment. The ice created was as cold as the fire was hot, this left Mathias a little weak, but his flame cancled itself out and a the heat of the dragons fire reached close enough to warm him up before he leapt out of the way, leaving the fire to kiss the massive bloodbush, causing a missive bulge that would catch the two if the didnt ascent higher. With the flame, the roots went all the deeper, making them nearly impossible to uproot, even with the strongest explosion or wind burst.

Igneus cut off his flames once the ice flames ceased and the blood plants didn't extend high enough to reach the flying pair. Thing was, they were close, a little too close for comforts sake, so Tristan commanded his partner to acend and with a few beats of the wings, they were higher in the air. Tristan saw Mathias laying on a thick vine, it was apparent he'd been momentarily knocked out.
[Now what to do...] Tristan thought to himself, he still had plenty of energy, but not that many spells. At this point he couldn't use his fire, neither could the dragon so he was rather useless for sake of coming in contact with the plant. What about teolus? It could grind the plant up into bits and it would take a while to regrow. Igneus offered mentally. [Hmm...maybe, lets see what els goes on first] Tristan thought, pulling out his hunting rifle again and squeezing off a set of rounds. He fired a few at the laid sword so that it would be shot from Mathias' reach.
Another few went right at the man below, and another few went specifically into the vines. Ten shots were fired total, four at the sword to make sure it was moved a good ways away, three at Mathias, and three at the vines. The point of shooting the vines was to discover their recovery rate, and calculate the probibility of Teolus being effective enough that Tristan could attack Mathias directly.

the sword closed its one eye and slept, rendering it a regular sword as of now. Although Mathias was uncontious, the plant wasnt and it was now working of its own agenda. The vines wove together to form several thick sheets. An ordinary bullet wouldnt be able to penetrate them, but his bullets went right through the first couple layers, but those slowed the bullets down enough so that the last sheet of interwoven vines would catch them, leaving Mathias and his blade untouched.
The vines that were torn through fell away quick, but regrew just as quickly. The plant had grown stronger as its roots decended and had taken its own life, Mathias wasnt even aware of this, his plant had never been exposed to fire while airborn, it had never gotten this out of control. Mathias woke up entangled, thank god he didnt have any live blood in him, or he'd be dead himself. Mathias wanted this plant gone, as useful as it had been, it's a hazard to him and tristan alike seeing as how it wont abide by Mathias' command anymore.
"I really dont want to use Lametatron... but i might have to today" Mathias said, a solemn look on his face.

"Damn...that plant is fuckin' tough...Take us down some." Tristan said to himself, then Igneus. And so the dragon did, leaving his legs just out of range of the plants. The hunter focused his energy and put out his hand. "Teolus!!" He roared, activating his devistating wind attack. The plant looked out of control, so the hunter aimed the attack to begin many meters from the man.
A massive whirlwind kicked up, taking any and all dust, rock, and soil particals with it. It lashed about, hacking up bits of the blood bush, and then using those bits to hack more off of the plant. Round and round the powerful winds spun, growing to a full forty feet tall and a little over twenty feet around at the base. It drilled down through the plants to the dirt where more particles, harder particles were added. Mass erosion was the key to this attack and it would tear apart almost any thing in the way. Flesh, wood, bone, even some weaker metal like iron would fall to tiny bits and feul even more erosion.
By the end of the spell there would be a massive hole in the middle of the vines with enough damage that it was unlikely to recover. The whirlwind itsself would last the better part of two minutes, with only an initial start consuming energy. As such Tristan's energy wouldn't be too worse for wear.

Mathias gaped at the massive hole.. but if it could his mouth would have dropped wider at what happened next. Thorny vines began shooting back and forth throughout the crater.
"do the roots really go that deep?"
The vines werent recreating the bushes bulge, but rather creating a ground of its own. One sturdy enough for the dragon to rest on even (though thats not reccomended still). From the ground even bigger vines began to arch out. Though these were way too thick to be vines anymore, some of them were as massive as the dragons neck. The smaller vines entangled mathias as he tried to run away. he had to slash at them repeatedly and escape before they grew back. Mathias finally broke through the ring of thicket and ran up one of the massive branches, waving his arms to tristan. It was obviouse he had a plan for them. As a show a good faith he even sheathed his sword on his back.

Tristan watched as his spell proved to be in vain. The vines regrew even faster than before. Igneus stayed where he was, as the spell had been far enough away to not bother the airborne pair. The hunter's eye was caught by Mathias as he ran to the edges of the clearing. It looked like the plant was well out of the mans control. "Not good. Idiot shouldn't use something he can't fully control." He said to himself.
At the wave, Tristan held onto one of Igneus' neck spikes and gave a mental command. The black beast angled down and shot in at full speed. Hunter having to tightly grip the spike on occasion as his partner hacked and dove through the vines. They dove straight toward the man and didn't stop to let him on. He'd have to jump onto Igneus' back as a stop couldn't be afforded. "What now?"

Mathias took a high leep, landing right behind Tristan, a solemn look on his face.
"None of us can take it out with force alone. It grew a mind deep below the earth. I might be able to take it out if you can take me high enough" Mathias was covered in slashes from the thorns of these vines, and god knows he's gonna get more with what he's going to do.
"We can't fight with this thing going after the both of us, so i'm going to need for you to trust me on this, get your dragon as high as is safe for us, i can take it from there"
It seemed uncanny how balanced and secure he was standing on the dragons back while it was flying. One would wonder if he has ever ridden before.

The fact that the man was steady on Igneus' back didn't phase Tristan. Hell he'd have probably been more surprised if someone couldn't stand on the black dragons back, short of being mis-balanced by the height. Igneus was very steady in his flight, aside from his neck, wings, and tail. Don't have to tell me twice. Igneus projected at Mathias' words.
With that he angled up and flew almost perpendicular to the ground. Tristan's grip around the spike tightened again as Igneus' speed pushed them up at about an eighty degree angle. After a few seconds, Igneus leveled off and hovered about two hundred feet off the ground. "Your up...." Tristan said, leaning against that same spike that was about waist high.

Mathias planted his foot into one of the ridges on the dragons spine as it soared skyward. When the dragon finally leveled out, he took a deep breath and lept up. The slipstream of the downbeating wings dragged Mathias with them, catapulting him directly to the ground, right towards the center of his monstrosity.
"WOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" Mathias never felt such a rush! he took out his sword and thrust it through a bird that was in the way. The swords eye came open a tad, but it was still half alseep. "Wakie wakie, clair. Your going to need to be awake for this"
Mathias's speed began to build up alot of heat for this bloodless being. Enough heat, atleast, to mimic that of something alive. The vine of the bloodbush shot strait up towards Mathias. He was a sitting duck when he couldnt dodge! He flinched, and to his surprise, the massive vine was cut in half. He flicked his blade as a long arc of wind came from the tip. The bush sent numerouse vines towards Mathias. He began a series of short, rapid flicks which began a flurry of the aeroblades, completely dicing anything that got near.
Finally he reached his goal, he was to the right height. He flipped out of his nose dive, now falling feet first, with his blade risen high. When he got close he plunged his blade down, cutting through the massive vines in the center, digging closer to the core until it got lodged into a larger vine. Mathias decided this would have to do as he began sucking energy from it. It worked like a straw, so the heart died first as it's life was sucked away, that energy would travel through the network until it all reached Mathias (thats the true Crazy-Straw).
The plants went limp, it would take an hour or two before they went brown, but they were dead. As for Mathias, he was deep within the plant when it all went limp around him. He could be trapped or even crushed under the weight of it all.

Tristan peered over the edge of the platform that was his companion and watched Mathias plummet. "Well I could'a done that...." He said to himself. As he watched the man hack his way down to the core, the vines that had been recently cut began to grow back. "Oh, great." Was what the hunter said before giving the mental command to dive.
[Use your teleportation when I hack off a main branch, take it 'between' and freeze it.] He thought, preparing himself to soar down, following his opponent. Got it. Igneus responded, now in an all out dive. Tristan activated his numerous elements and chakra, and soared ahead at near terminal veloctity. "KAMATAICHI!!" He roared, swinging his hand in a wide arc. Three blades soared at now near mach speed, as they moved faster than Tristan was, no matter how fast he was going.
The blades of solid air shot down, taking off huge portions of plant. [NOW!] He yelled with his mind, and one of the huge branches dissapeared, to appear, frozen solid a ways away and crash into other vines, dibilitating them and slowly freezing them solid. Tristans flight carried him past his usual terminal velocity and he became a bullet, aimed straight for the ground. He halted himself next to Mathias and drew his blade, "Time for a little hack and slash huh?" he said, swinging at the vines that were now loosing vitality.
