"Okay Apprentices, hurry in now" A man said, his face calm and relaxed as he stared at all the students coming in.
Recently, the new semester had begun at the academy, and already he could tell the excitement of the new faces which had been accepted into the Academy. Some were young, some were younger, some were older then he was, but it did not matter. This school accepts everyone regardless of their age, class, race, skill level and other things. They were here to teach these students to continue their legacy of magic, and stop the ruptures occurring all over the planet. Regardless, turning in, he let the last student enter the class as he silently shut the door behind him, his face looking calm as usual with his spectacles hanging low down his nose. Swiftly he turned toward the class with a generous smile and soon sat down in his seat, without actually using his hand to move his chair, instead , he flicked his wrist and the chair moved for him, all while he kept a calm face.
"That, my friends, was magic" He said calmly, his tone never shifting. "As all of you sit here, you think you guys are the greatest there is, that no one can beat you and that your magic is amazing. Sure, you guys might know a lot of spells, but be sure that you still have a long ways to go before you can call yourselves a master mage"
With that, he paused, his eyes closed as he smiled so harmlessly. Soon enough, he got up and moved to the chalk board, and quickly began to write down something. Why, it was his name... Professor Byron.
"I am Professor Byron, your teacher for this semester, and perhaps even beyond it" he said enthusiastically.

Jyo walked into the classroom to relearn some of the magic he already knew. He would really be above this level of magic. But he also knew it was good to cover the basics often. And with a teacher he had not yet studied under he could easily learn something new.
Out of respect he didn't bring his weapon to his class. The sheath sewn onto his coat was empty now. He walked over and took his seat attracting the eye of a few people. He waited for everyone to get in and then the teacher pulled his chair over using magic then soke. Jyo was impressed at how the teacher had moved his chair. Not from the fact he used magic. Jyo had already learned such things. But it was the level of control and focus the teacher had that grabbed the young man's attention Mabey I can get a word after class for more private training. He thought thinking perhapes this man could teach him more about channeling his magic. Jyo already knew how to channel his magic better than most he knew not counting the teachers and so forth. But it still was his hardest personal task. His spells still had times they went out of control.

Ezra had walked in sixth out of all the students ((assume NPC's)) and merely sat down in the farthest back availble seat. His glasses gave him the ability to see just fine from that distance, and the far position would keep him out of most people's sights. Zeke took up the chair next to him, reserving it for nobody. But this meant he also got to have his own table. Normally, everyone was seated two to a table, like lab partners, but there were a lot of empty seats.
Zeke placed its paw on Ezra's shoulder, like it was assuring him he'd be all right in the class. The little lion guy had been his friend since he could remember, even since birth, but had only been animated for nine years and eleven months. Normal observation of the former toy would just lead one to believe that it's a normal kid's construct. But Zeke's life was considered eternal until further notice. In other words, nobody knew when Zeke was going to run out of magic. Ezra knew he'd be dead before Zeke died though, just a gut feeling.
Revealing the mage deck on his wrist, he turned on the projection monitor, a magically generated screen appearing before his eyes. There, he could take notes or doodle, whatever he wanted to do to pass the time. Of course, he'd choose to take notes. He was a good student, even if not the most entertaining of people.

Ziare walked into class and noticed many unfamiliar faces and one familiar one, Jyo. But most of the seats were taken. She looked around the room and noticed a sullen looking boy sitting with an animal in the seat next to him. She wondered why he looked so sad. She smiled at him and walked past to sit at the table next to his.
"I'm Ziare." she said holding out her hand for him to shake or not. "What's your name?"
She was ready to learn ready to absorb the information that would help her control her magic.

Talbot had inched in a few students before last and found a desk somewhere on the outer left side- not wanting to draw any attention to herself, or to be chatted up she shot a sharp glance at one or two people near her to ward them away from talking. In truth she would have preferred to be in some cooking class or another- but the chefs had asked her, slightly forcefully to let them be. Plus a class was a class after all.
Talbot scribbled something on a little blue paged notepad- just the subject and the instructors name. She did find amusment in the chair moving- it was a simple trick once you figured it out. She had poked about and was hoping this wind user would demonstrate at one point or another- most air based magic was easily enough learned after a small demonstrarion.

"Now then class, get out some papers, I would like for you to take some notes as i give out a long, boring lecture" Byron said jokingly.
Quietly he awaited the students to do so, his eyes staring at them as he studied them. Most of the students here who were from Earth seemed interested, where as those who weren't seemed bored, and tired at this. It is odd how new comers are so intrigued, while those who had such a thing all their lives were generally un-caring. It goes to show how odd the world was. Regardless, he soon lifted a piece of chalk up and controlled it with his hand, using his air magic to do so. A smile crept onto his face as he saw the reaction from some of the younger mages, but one day they shall find out about this as well. Regardless, Byron just moved his glasses up, his face still kind and nice as usual as he stood in front of his large class, looking around at all the eager faces.
"Now then, before we learn anything, we must first understand the fundamental idea of magic" Byron said calmly, after saying this same speech for years on end. "The nature of magic is quite fickle, for you see magic is very mysterious. So far, our best mages and scientist have yet to determine what exactly magic is, or where it came from. Some say that Magic is the fundamental power to alter the universe, to bypass the laws of physics and ultimately alter every aspect of the universe. Others say that magic is the power flowing from a god or gods which reside in the universe, and we gain that power as it flows from them. Other say magic comes from a different dimension of existence which flows into our body, while others say magic is the power of the soul, body and mind. Some say that alchemic circles and Symbology circles are the written language of a ancient race which was the source of magic, and it left it's imprint on the universe. There are infinite theories of magic, however, the important thing is the fundamental use of it; as in for good. After all, we have chosen to take this power in order to make the world good, and not use it for our ambitions."

Jyo noticed Ziare come in and gave her a smile. But he didn't think they'de be able to speak much in this class. So he setteled with the smile and a wave for now.
The teacher started his lesson. Jyo quickly scribbled down notes on things he still had not yet learned. Then the teacher went into theories about magic. Jyo waited for him to pause in the lesson and then raised his hand. "Sir isn't it possible all those theories ae correct as there are so many forms of magic?" He asked.

"Indeed it is" Byron said, his face bearing a small smile. "It could be possible that Elemental magic is the power to alter the universe, where as Alchemy could've came from a ancient race. It is all quite interesting really"
With that, the Teacher paused, his face calm as he leaned against his table, folding his arms as he stared at his students. A flicker of hope ran through his body as he thought of the interest these students have with being taught such informational things. These kids here probably knew how to use magic, but had no idea to the back ground of it; not knowing the theories behind it and the thoughts. Of course, he was a bit disappointed no one had responded to his use magic for good part, but he had expected such a thing to happen. Regardless, he just looked at Jyo as he continued his lesson, interested in him, and the girl that he had waved too. He had to bear in mind they would probably disrupt class some how, as students often do when infatuated with someone else.
"Furthermore, the non-focus technique magic such as Tarots and Wordology give much confusion when brought up. Now when faced with a strict rule system of casting spells, they further create chaos in the research community."
With that, he smiled, his face calm and cool.

Jyo raised his hand again trying to learn as much as he could. "Well sir as you are in such a high position and have studied alot more than most people. Could we prhapes hear what you're thoughts are on such differences and why they are causing such chaos?" He asked figuring that thy could learn much more from the opinions of someone who had most likely been aound most any sort of magic and could tell them more in-depthly then they could learn from recites that they had probebly all read.

Ziare raised her hand really interested in learning the origins of her magic.
"Excuse me sir, can elemental magic really alter to universe?" she asked. She felt like it was a dumb question but she was ignorant when it came to magic besides using some.

After taking all of that down, Ezra had to listen to the questions posed by the girl who tried talking to him, and the guy he had met in the courtyard. But he had one of his own, and it was a doozy of a question, if he did say so himself.
With a raise of the hand, he waited until he was called upon. And even then, his question was spoken in as quiet of a voice as could possibly reach the teacher's ears.
"What about the theroy that magic is a force of energy, much like heat or light? Fromt his theory, magic is taken in through the body and channeled through the body, mind, and foci ((items such as tarot cards that focus magical energy)) then is converted from a raw form into a usable energy that manifests itself as a spell. Just like every other form of energy, it is not used up of expended, but 'magical' energy is merely converted into other forms of energy that are unusable as such."
Maybe it was a bit much for the first day of the semester, but he wanted to toss the theory out there. It wasn't exactly well-known, since he sort of made it up based off of his experiences in the use of magic, but it sounded valid. And maybe that'd get the teacher to do a double take, or maybe even bug out.

Talbot was leviating her pen, but when the instructor mentioned the good use of magic she had muttered, "That all depends on perspective and the user." And went back to levitating the pen, what a neat trick- it didn't take much energy and she stopped and wrote a few notes down then would return to leviating.
She didn't have questions only small comments. She wrote explanations down in short quick sentences- all lectures could usually be turned around and into something much eaisier to read, though she wrote in the same language her father spoke- a mix of several languages. This way no one could copy her notes.

"Personally, i feel that i shouldn't tell you what i think" Byron said, with a slight smile on his face. "I feel it is up to the Students to decide these things to themselves, rather then force me to think for you"
With that, Byron smiled, his face calm and relaxed as he stared at the other students, their minds filled with questions which they took the time to verbally ask. Quietly Byron sat down in his chair, listening to each of them as he stared at them all with his kind, compassionate face and warm eyes, hidden beneath his spectacles which were, oddly, yellowish.
"From the theories i heard, Elemental magic has been said to do so. For example; one fire spell creates small random combustions in the universe near the caster, and with the aid of air magic that user can alter the oxygen density in the air, and create large explosions. Water Magic creates the union between oxygen and hydrogen atoms, and then controls their movements in order to move the water. Or it can change the phase of the water to turn it into ice. Indeed, Elemental Magic has been said to be the union between chemistry and the occult"
With that, he turned toward the other student, listening to his theory upon magic with interest. "Indeed, such a theory has been passed before" Byron replied calmly "The evidence for that theory lies in magical Ruptures, in which raw mana just seems to bleed out of it. But yes, magic has been thought to be like that by a good number of masters and mages, that is until they remember Alchemy and Symbology. Regardless, magic still remains a great history to humanity, and even today debates about it rages on....."

"What of more personal types of magic. I myself and othres I know have spells that are rarely seen and even somewhat unique. I personally think it's because everyone has their own power that others don't really acess. Is there any study being done on that matter." Jyo asked.

"Actually" Byron began, his face calm and soothing as usual "Everyone, to my knowledge at least, has the ability to access all magic regardless, of their own way because magic is open to everyone. The only way it isn't is in curses, in which the cursed abilities and malfunctions transfered from generation to the next, or transmitted to someone else to remain permanent. The only way then is to get that same curse, but that isn;t really unique now. Regardless, all family curses have been carefully recorded in the academy..... However though, the way one uses that power is always unique. After all, one person can use fire in one way, while another in another way. That is the principle in certain magic branches, the usage of magic in the same form but in different ways....."
