Tristan's wing had been stopped. The dark beast pushed past the insanely sharp feathers and get to the bone of the wing, stopping it dead with its great strength that was equal or possibly greater than the Crusniks. It swung up and managed to hit the hunter on his transformed chin before he could pull away.
Tristan jumped back to lessen the force as much as possible, long pearly whites bared, eyes glowing bright. He was about to rush in when the wall of stone appeared in front of him. A quick glance to the left determined the sorce and Tristan took to the air. His great black wings propelled him just over the top of the wall which revealed itsself to be a whole box of stone.
He inhaled deeply and loosed his magic again, a huge blast of white, blue, and yellow flame shot from his mouth and into the stone entrapment until the roof was secured. His flames were at their highest power and nothing short of a dragon, infernomancer, or something els as immune to fire as those could force their way through it in the short ammount of time that was left before the trap was completed.
The flames cut off and the crusnik would watch the roof sink down on the dark beasts head. Unless it could dig and fast, it would be caught by the roof and be knocked out. As the wolf passed out, the Crusnik stayed airborne to make sure nothing of the intruder was left, or at least that it wouldn't be getting out of there for a few hours.

Mine, The being thought, but then something unexpected happened. The ground shook, and a wall appeared from the earth and blocked the flayer from its victim. The creature would have leapt for the beign who had apparently summoned the wall but another wall appeared. Within split moments the being would be encased, and the crushnik flame wouldn't help. But apparently the hunter was too foolish to remember the exact effect his flames had upon the unholy being, none.
But then it became apparant that the stone cage was sinking. the flayer realized that it was trapped. The flames held the diabolical entity inside the solid stone cage, as the roof sloly lowered itself towards the ground. Soon the soul flayer found himself ground beneath the earth, until he stopped sinking several feet below the surface. Once again the instincts took over and the thing began struggeling tooth and claw to come free, the bony claws digging through the eart in what it determined was upwards. It would take time to reach the surface, and maybe its quarry would be gone by then but eithrer way flayer longed to consume another soul. It was a thing Grey hadn't done in years

Relatively satisfied, Tristan landed. "What I wouldn't give for a few land mines right about now." He said, keeping his form. He thought for a moment and pulled off his gauntlets for fear of damaging them with what he was about to do. Putting his hands to the ground, he further depleted his energy by using a small modification on his fire punch spell that put tremendous heat into the ground. The intense heat permiated a little over one foot into the soil and began melting down various elements.
The grass died and ignited, but soon put themselves out from lack of material to burn. The elements in the soil finished their changes. If the hunter could have afforded to turn back into his human form, he would have used alchemy to make a stronger barrier, but this would buy at least another twenty minutes, or so it would take any normal being. The bits in the dirt and soil metamorphosized into fairly solid rock, only with some charred organic material weakening it.
If he'd had the opportunity to use alchemy, he could have bought at least an extra hour, possibly even crush the being below, but as things were he couldn't. He stood, putting his gauntlets back on, and walked over to the wolf. He scooped the beast up and took off. His wings carrying him high into the air. Flying far and fast, Tristan found a good location many miles away. He laid the wolf down near a rock and gathered timber. With his wings he didn't have to exert much force in slashing up a felled tree for the wood.
Returning, he made a small fire, and felt exhausted. Food was now the main concern. He flew off with what little energy he had left. It had been about a half an hour since he'd left the sight of the battle. The airborne crusnik came upon a sight that had terrific irony. The wolf he had been originally sent to hunt. Blood beaded its back and it had a limp, it also had a kill. The beast turned back into a human, but when Tristan looked carefully. "Oh this is just too perfect."
It was a shapeshifting vampire. The Crusnik dropped like a stone, diving at an insane speed, he pulled up and turned to the side, letting his wing scrape along the ground, blade feather protruding. As the vampire bent for its kill it looked up intime to see its demise: the black feather blade split the beings head in two and it fell dead.
Tristan landed and began to feed. His strength slowly returning. The dead vampire was bled dry and Tristan's energy was restored. Unfortunately, his mind was still taxed and he would be greatly fatuiged when he returned to his human form. With his restored energy, he exposed the vampire corpse to a decent leveled flame and was burned to a crisp. Tristan picked up the buck with the broken neck and took off back to where he'd left the wolf.
When he got back a few minutes later, the wolf would probably still be out cold, and Tristan would drop the buck infront of him. He would then return to his human form, and sit down near the fire to give his mind a rest in meditation.

The flayer had dug its way to the hardened surface, skeletal fingers probing to find a crack, a weak spot. It didn't take long before it found a spot, cracking open the failing prison that the surface earth had become. To the flayer's primal fury, the winged being and the earth-bender had disappeared, the dark spot in the horizon slowly fading away.
But the flayer was far beaten, it had seen the way its quarry had flown and set off, not willing to let its prey slip away just that easily. But it knew that it was in no hurry, and took the time to slay everything that came across its path, consuming both the blood and soul of every form of life it could find on its way. When the night came closer to an end, the flayer dug itself into the ground and remained there until the sunset. It had fed, killed and rested, and was now more than ready to slay its quarry. After a few more hours of running through the forest, now ignoring the terrified wildlife, it found what it had been looking for. It thirsted

Kegan awoke, not knowing where he was. He snapped awake, expecting that thing to be over him. But, all he could see was Tristan and... was that a buck? Kegan remembered what had happened, and knew he would have to eat to restore his energy. It seemed the hunter had pulled through for him, and delivered unto him a full meal, more than enough to satisfy him.
He noticed that Tristan looked fatigued, and figured they didn't have much time before that thing attacked them again. I don't have enough energy to bend the fire to cook it, and even if I did, there wouldn't be enough time. He managed to mutter a 'thank you' to the hunter before shifting to his full wolf form. He dug right into the began to eat the buck before him. It was fresh, and he felt his energy returning to him.
After he had eaten his fill, he shifted back to his human form. Wiping the blood from his mouth, he looked over at his current ally. "So, what do we do now?"

The flayer had found its mark, its prey. It could smell the scent of their souls, one tainted by something dark like his own, and the other with a delicious scent of bonds with nature. Almost there...
The control of the souls had shifted, leaving and esteemed master of Grey's former clan in control. He knew full well the nature of his opponents, or at least some of it, and he knew how he would approach them. The vampires of the Croursh clan were proud martial artists, picking out the young and talented in the art of fighting and introducing them into their clan. Grey had been selected like this, and he had shown remarkable talent at first, but later his lack of discipline had caused his descent in the clan hierarchy.
Observing the two from afar, the long ogne Croursh master began calling upon the teachings of his clan. He would attack the winged one first and stay in close proximity to him in hopes that it would prevent the werewolf from interfering with his bending.Should he change his shape, the dominanat soul in the flayer knew what to do, but that would have to wait until then.
Charging with unnatural ferocity, the flayer sprinted for the hunter, the only sound being that of his feet againt the forest floor. He was going to rip out the hunters throat, using the teachings of the Croursh vampires, focusing his chi ta make the inpact from his punches and kicks cut like razor blades. He wanted to feed, now

They sat in silence, but Kegan was getting restless. He was thinking about the Flayer. Grey wasn't like that. He was tormented, and Kegan could sense and see it. He had fought with him, but only because of the biased that lay within him. Why? Why did it have to be that way? It doesn't. I am not like those that killed my parents. I am not like the ones who look at me with fear because of what I am. And I am not going to treat him like that either.
Kegan stood, and sniffed the air. He knew where the Flayer was. He shifted to full wolf form, and headed in that direction. It was moving fast, and felt faster not that Kegan was advancing toward it. He found a small clearing that the Flayer would sense Kegan in. He shifted back to his human form and waited. I know your still in there Grey. And I am going to make sure you resurface... even if I have to rip that things head off and pull you out myself!

The flayer had found its headlong charge halted by another soul pushing itself to the surface. A dark wizard who had crossed paths with Grey and never lived to tell the tale like so many others, but unlike those he possessed an uncanny sense of soul manipulation.
The body of the flayer convulsed violently through this internal power struggle, pressing the palms of it's smokey hands against the face made of solid darkness. Each and every of the souls were constantly struggeling for control, as the one in control was relieved from a great deal of their suffering, a thing all the souls knew instinctively. Death, no matter how horrible, would be a far more pleasant fate than the suffering the supressed souls went through, which was why nearly every soul-flayer ended its existence by taking its own unlife.
The hatred didn't lessen through the struggle though, and when it felt the werewolf nearby the flayer launched itself at it with a bloodchilling howl, claws outstretched and fangs bared. Feeding of any being, blood, flesh and soul, provided a grat relief for all the captured souls. That was therefore the one thing that they all agreed to do

Here it comes. Kegan watched the opening in the clearing. The very one he could sense the Flayer arriving from. It was odd. Until today, he couldn't sense being like this. But now, after facing great power and experiencing fear for the first time since leaving home, a change began to take place inside the lycan. He stood there, in the middle of the clearing, waiting for the Flayer, who was approaching with amazing speed.
Kegan's mind was filling up with questions he couldn't answer. Who are you Kegan? Why do you continue to hate those around you? Do you see no good in anyone?
They killed my family, and tried to kill me.
All of them? Every single human killed your family?
No, but...
But you let yourself judge others as you and your family were unfairly judged based on what they were... what we were...
Wait... you can't be... m... mom? Is that you?
Yes Kegan. I was hoping I could contact you. I don't have much time though. Kegan, you don't need to hold anything against anyone. Not all humans are evil, just as not all lycans are mindless killers. You have to let it go.
But, how? How can I after what I saw?
Kegan, you have learned on your own that there is good in some people. Look at that half-elf. And now what? You are trying to save that vampire. Why?
I... I am not sure.
Because you know that there is good and evil in everyone. Kegan, you have powers inside that have not yet awakened. Though, when you receive them, your bending will be changed. You will only realize these powers if you learn to let go of your hatred.
I... I miss you mom.
And I miss you. Your father and I have been watching you Kegan. You have grown into a fine man. You even have a crush, don't you?
Mom!
Hee hee. Your a good boy Kegan. Let go of your hatred, and save your friend.
He's not my...
Kegan, yes he is. I can see your heart. If you didn't care about the one trapped, you would have killed him before. You held back a bit. You aren't a killer, and you respected the one behind that dark veil. Help him. I know you can.
Thanks mom. I love you.
A mother's love is eternal. I will be watching over you.
Kegan stood there, his eyes still closed. Suddenly, they shot open. "Who am I? I am Kegan Dwyre, a natural born werewolf. I am watcher over the forest, and protector of my friends." His body began to glow with a brilliant white light. The soul flayer had come into view. "DEMON! LET MY FRIEND GO!"
There was a burst of light, and Kegan stood there looking straight at that grinning skull of the fiery black death that might be awaiting him.

Tristan was too deep in meditation to hear the wolf awaken and speak. Nothing penetrated his mental walls at this point. He had to be this deep into his own mind to rejuvinate the mental fatuigue he had been experiencing. Though his body was fully healed, having fed on something he hadn't seen in a while, a shape shifting vampire, the transformation into Crusnik form, and sustaining it for that long took its toll.
In his utter black mind scape, nothing was presant but the hunter. Deep breaths came. In. Out. In. Out. Each one restoring serenity in the hunters mind and soul, hardened casing that was the body in a held, seated position. A small, dark red light came into view of his mental state. Bigger and bigger as it came closer, strengthening the bond. Through meditation, the mental link between dragon and rider had been strengthened a great deal. Luckily enough, Igneus, the black dragon, had been trying to find his partners mind.
The beast felt that something was wrong, as it was taking Tristan ages to return, which wasn't exactly common while the two were apart. Where are you...? The echoing mental voice of the dragon came. "The middle of no where. Took for ever to follow the quarry, and it ended up mistaken identity...Know what? Here." He thought through his meditative state to his partner. The hunter then projected the images of the events of the past couple of hours to the black dragon. What the hell is that thing? Igneus asked.
"No idea. It was a vampire." Tristan responded. "It might still be alive." His restoration continued and they conversed for some time.
If that thing comes back, I'm coming. Igneus said in finality. Now that they were connected, the black dragon could sense Tristans mind, though the effect was lessened until they were close again. "Fine." Tristan responded, almost fully healed, mentally. After another few moments a shout peirced the meditation. 'DEMON! LET MY FRIEND GO!' It was the wolf.
Tristan's eyes shot open and he sprang to his feet, alchemy activating and producing the Titanium blades from the hunters gauntlets. [It's back!] Tristan shouted with his mind, seeing the dark beast and the glowing man. I'll be there soon. Was the faint response. This time the fight would be easy. It seemed the vampire before the beast was friends with the wolf...what ever sense that made. Tristan's chakra shot forth, doubling his bodies maximum speed with his double time spell.
He shot to the wolfs side, ready to fight, but would wait for an attack, choosing to be defensive until Igneus got there. They wouldn't kill the demon/spirit/thing, but they would have to incapacitate it to make the vampire within regain hold. "What'd I miss?"

Another soul, one of a British vampire variant, had taken control. They were more the kind that manipulated than fought, but this was no time for turning friend against friend, although a little distrust or insulting wouldn't hurt. "Youngsters" The creature whispered with disdain, shaking its head in apparant dissapointment. "Whatever happened to good, old-fashioned duals of honor? I guess we all got to live to see the days of courage fade away"
This, however, was not a lie. This vampire had seen how people grew more depserate and cowardly, and had grown to despise them because of it. "I guess appealing to any sense of something as honorable as chivalry would be a waste of time, so..." The flayer took it's defensive stance, waving its opponents forwards "Come here, and let me show you how we do things cockney style"
This particular vampire was one who had been reknown for his ability to keep his head cool and focused, a thing that all th other souls had lacked so far. This alone would grant him a superior edge compared to the other souls who had been in control so far. He was eager though, he hadn't tasted blood in more than fifty years

Kegan's glow grew brighter. He turned to Tristan, who had just joined him. "Depending on what you mean by missed, I'll fill you in later. Right now, I have something to take care of." His tone had changed. There was no distrust now. There was no fear. He merely looked at the Flayer, who apparently gained the ability to speak. Eloquently too, from the sound of it. "Tristan, you are powerful, and under normal circumstances you would fair better than me. However, you are going to be in more trouble than you know. I need you to stay right here. If what i am about to do doesn't work, you are going to be the only thing preventing that thing from attacking the school."
He turned his attention toward the demon. "Honor? Chivalry? You have to be joking. You call taking over the body of someone honorable? You call torturing someone chivalry?" He had been advancing toward the beast as he spoke, and was now about five feet from him. "Don't talk about things like that as if you follow them. You are to weak to fight without that body. It isn't yours to begin with. So I am only going to tell you this once... GIVE IT BACK!"
As he shouted, the glow erupted into a white fire that lashed out all around. For those of you that are unfamiliar with what is going on, I shall explain. White fire is pure white magic. If there is someone injured, it will heal them remarkable fast, faster than any cure spell. If someone is not injured, their energy increases dramatically, along with their strength and speed. Anything susceptible to white or light magic that is exposed to this is only able to feel pain and, depending upon the strength of the magic and the creature, possible death.
The Flayer was strong, and Kegan had this well under control. All he wished to do was weaken the soul flayer to the point it relinquished control over Grey's body. Tristan, well within effect distance of the white fire would be feeling much better and stronger thanks to the effect of the spell. All Kegan could hope for was that it worked in their favor, and Grey was ok.

"Hehehe" The flayer mused, a giggeling laugh running over the smoky lips. "HeheheheHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" It threw it's head back, laughing out its torment. It was obvious that the werewolf had no idea what it was dealing with, and the flayer saw no reason to tell him just yet. This was so deliciosly ironic that it had to be savored, He would enjoy the panicked look on the wolf's face when he was told the truth, just before his soul was extracted and joined the others.
But the came the blast of white fire, and the beast screamed in pain, jumping back from the white flames. "Damn you" It hissed, a glow of unsated hatred in its eyes. The flames had barely touched it, and yet the agony had been felt through every one of the souls within. [glow=red,2,300]"Don't you have any idea of what you are dealing with!?"[/glow] It bellowed, the ghostly voice floating throughout the forest. The problem for the flayer was that the situation was mutual, and even if it wasn't it was not in the flayers favor. The soul in control had no experience with white fire apart form what it had just felt, and that would be very little help.
But the agony had caused the vampire to loose its grip on the flayers malignant body, and it fell to its knees, clutching its head as another soul, one from before, resumed control. It was the dark wizard, the once human soul bender. He knew about the nature of white magic, but could use that knowledge for very little. This body was not suited for that kind of dark magic, it was far too chaotic in nature.
The voice was different from before, although the unearthly ring was eternally present. "Don't waste out time with words, lycan. Come here so that we may feast on your impure soul." It spoke at is it began to advance. In truth, it wanted to die, but it also wanted to feed. This conflict was the only thing that cme between a soulflayer and all but instantanous suicide. "Your friend is in here" The flayer spoke, tapping its finger over the place where long-dead heart now throbbed with dark energies. "Why don't you come here and get him?"

OOC: Sorry Tristian... I am hit with a great deal of inspiration right now.
The beast jumped back, obviously in pain. It spoke, and Kegan answered. "No. But neither do you. But, I do know that you are torturing my friend. Also, I know something else. Right now, you're afraid of me." Kegan advanced, and another voice seemed to take over. Multiple souls. This isn't good. I have to do something.
"Gladly" was all Kegan said to the request to retrieve Grey. He reached out with his palm up, and the white fire streamed forth at the dark creature. He was attempting to call out to the vampire. "Are you really going to let all of these beings take control over your body? I know your stronger than that. Now, help me fight them off!"
He shouted, the fire raged. It was then Kegan began to feel something. The fire wouldn't keep up. If Grey couldn't take control soon, Kegan would be out of energy, and the fire would die, leaving he and Tristan to fight a weakened, but very angry and soul flayer. Come on damn it. Wake up! So long as the fire raged around Kegan, he was safe. The beast couldn't touch him, and they both knew that. Though the expression didn't change, he could tell the beast didn't know what to do about the current situation.
"What's wrong demon? Weren't you going to feast on my soul?" Suddenly, the fire began to die. Though slowly, it was still noticeable. If Kegan kept this up, it would only be another minute or two before it was out completely.

"I'm in no rush" Said the creature, smiling sadistically with its pearl white fangs and red-glowing eyes. "But it seems that you are. Too bad that we can't all live forever" This show of confidence was not completely authentic, however, it was feeling so very hungry, bĂșt that was not the only issue. Grey's soul was the one that all the others founght to keep down, all their hatred was directed at him, but he was beginning to fight back.
Grey's soul was the only one in his blood that was not a part of the soulflayer, and should it regain control the flayer would fade from his flesh, returning him to normal shape. He was gaining strength from Kegan's words, from the faith that he was showing him, but he was far from victory.
The flayer continued to to walk in circles around the white fire, keeping a safe distance from the holy flames. The patience was fake, however, as the flayer knew that it needed to kill the lycan to avoid Grey from resuming control. "I'm waiting" It said playfully, smiling sickly
