Thunder clapped and lightning illuminated a dark figure as it flew across the sky. It was a stormy day, Hadrian smiled at how appropriate the weather was for his arrival. Another lightning flash and he landed on the front steps of the Academy. He tucked his wings into his back and started up the steps of the Academy. The rain poured down on him as he stopped outside the doors. Strands of wet white hair stuk to his forehead as he stood at the doorway. His heart was beating rather fast, adrenaline pumped through his vein. He could hear his own heartbeat.
I was trained for this, why am I so uneasy? It isn't uneasiness...it's excitement, my prey, my quarry is finally within my grasp,he thought with a dark grin as he pulled open the doors and strode into the halls of the Academy.
His boots made a soft wet clomps as he walked through the hallways. His eyes betrayed the disdain he felt at having to be in close quarters with so many humans. Hadrian may have had human DNA in him but he was much more than human. He was far superior to any of these wretched creatures that surrounded him. They had yet to learn that they were no longer the dominant creature on the planet, but they would in time.
"Celeste," he whispered softly, as a small spark of light came to his normally dark, red eyes. He was here to find her, he did not know where to start his search but that hardly mattered. It would only be a matter of time until they stumbled onto each other.
A student bumped into and was met with an dark smirk from Hadrian. His hand wrapped itself around the students throat, he felt the windpipe start to give way to the pressure of his grip. The student's strangled gurgles made him chuckle as he squeezed harder, lifting him up off the ground. As soon as his victim's struggling started, it stopped. The student's body hung limp in his grip as his windpipe could no longer stand the pressure and was crushed. Hadrian let the body drop with a soft thud and looked up, his gaze searching the faces in the crowd that was moving past him.
"Celeste...I'm coming," he whispered with a dark chuckle as he continued walked, leaving the crumpled heap of flesh that was once a human behind him.

Reading. It was what Celeste truly loved about this school. Here she could read and learn and absorb knowledge. Here she could increase her knowledge on so many things. It was this that Celeste was doing as she walked down the halls of the Arcane Academy.
She could read fast. As a matter of fact by the time she got back to her room she would be finished with this book and would then pick up one of the myriad she had gotten delivered to her room. She flipped a page ever ten seconds. Reading absorbing. She had been created to learn and to absorb to understand on sight. It was what she was meant to do. She didn't know why she was created but she knew that she was enhanced far beyond what a human alone could do.
She walked down the main hallway and towards the dorm hallway freshly come from the library. The pages were the only sound made as the girl, dressed in a deep red dress with black trim and a low scooping back so if she needed her wings they wouldn't tear her dress, walked down the hallway.

Hadrian felt her, she was near. He could not explain the sensation or how it was that it came to him. A tingle at the base of skull, it signaled her proximity. He did not know why he felt so sure that, that was what the feeling meant, but he believed without a shadow of a doubt that she was nearby. He grinned as his hunched turned out to be right, he saw her reading as she walked down the hallway.
"Celeste!" He called out as he stretched his wings out, showing them to every one but mostly to Celeste. Hovered near here, a few feet off the ground. He looked down at her with a grin, she was more beautiful than her file photos suggested. Hadrian studied her intently as he bobbed in the air, his wings beating silently but rythmically.
He could barely contain his glee at this point. There she was, the reason he had slaughtered half of the Nephilim Corporation, the reason he was here now. She was the only one in the world like him, and he the only one in the world like her. They were both unique and rare creatures. Hadrian was still considering whether to make himself the only of their kind, or use her to increase their numbers and show the foolish humans what it was like to be inferior to a new race of being.

"Celeste!"
The name alone made her stop in her tracks. Yet, it came from a voice that she had never heard before. She looked up close to her and her eyes .. those crystalline blue eyes that could change to the same red she saw there in his eyes grew larger. He was like her. She closed her book slowly and just looked at him.
Was he from them? Was he there to take her back. First there was fear. It gripped her but wait.. why would he be here he could easily have waited for her in her room if that was all he wanted. No there was something else. Perhaps he too had escaped. He was still wearing a tshirt so she could not see anything wrong with him in fact like her he was inhumanly beautiful. She smiled lightly.
"You are.. like me." she said softly her voice filled with beauty and innocence as she looked up at the boy that hovered in the hair. She wanted to touch his wings. She knew hers were sensitive but she had always wondered what it felt like to run your fingers through another's wings. Maybe if they got to know each other she could do just that.

He landed infront of her, his wings sliding into his back. His black pupiless eyes turned back to his normal red. He nodded as she said he was like her. She was stating the obvious but Hadrian assumed that was out of shock. It must be strange to think you're the only one of your kind and then find another like you. Hadrian's eyes searched hers as a small dark smirk spread across his features.
"I am just like you, I'm Hadrian...or Experiment 02 as they liked to call me," he said with a chuckle as he reached out and touched her face gently. His nail raked across her cheek gently, drawing a little prick of blood. He pressed his finger against it and then brought that finger to his lips. Hadrian sucked the blood off his finger with a soft sigh, "Delicious..." he said with a black grin. If his teeth weren't fanged they certainly looked it with the dark grin he was giving her.
"Celeste...I slaughtered half of the Nephilim Corporation just to find you. We are the only two of our kind, totally unique," he said with a grin, "Now my only dilemna is to dispatch you and make myself the only one of our kind...or use you to propagate our species. The second option would allow us to show these pathetic humans that they truly are inferior..." he said with a chuckle, his finger resting under her chin as he inspected her.

She like him was used to pain. It didn't phase her in the least as he sliced her cheek open slightly. She reached up and with her finger touched the blood looking at it before returning her eyes to one Hadrian. She looked up at him as he tasted her blood and blinked at him for a moment with what he said.
"Why would you want to dispose of me? I can assure you being the lone angel is not what it's cracked up to be." she said softly as she looked up at him.
He touched her chin and seemed to be inspecting her. She didn't understand why he would want to kill part of his species. They were two of a kind and they were .. if what he said was correct going to be the only two ever.
"Life is much better outside Nephilim. No one here hurts me. No one here tortures me. And tests me. You would be accepted.. like me." she said softly. She reached up and took his hand gently from her chin and held it in hers.

He watched her with an incredulous grin. Accepted, he did not need to be accepted by anyone. He was Hadrian, an angel, and he did not need the acceptance of anyone to make that anymore. Hadrian chuckled softly at her statement as she took his hand.
"Why would I want to be accepted by a pack of filthy, inferior humans?" he asked with a shake of his head and a grin, "Besides...the Corporation wasn't so bad...they gave me as many victims as I wanted," he said with a dark grin and a wistful sigh.
He really did relish the memory of those survival trials. At first they were just tests to bring out his unique abilities. But then they saw he had a taste for blood and killing. It was only a matter of time before the survival trials were necessary to keep his bloodlust from building and having him resort to killing one of the staff. Not that, that had stopped him in the end.
He looked up as if suddenly remembering something, "Oh yes...you should probably know, Father is dead," he said with a grin.

Killed!? He had killed people. That some how didn't shock her the way he had tasted her blood right then. She looked up at him. He was definatly taller than her and she looked up into his red eyes and let her own blue eyes turn red so they were the same again in that sense.
Her eyes widened as he said 'father' had died. She swallowed. Callhoun had always wanted them to call him father and she had done it as a child but stopped when she got older and realized that he was nothing like the fathers in story books.
"We should go to my room. To finish this discussion." she said softly.
She still holding his hand gently in hers led him down the dormitory hallways and to her door. She didn't keep it locked as she had nothing to steal. Immediatly the books stacked up on the desk were visible as she flipped on the light and the soft white covers on the bed seemed to shine almost. It was the only place to sit besides the desk chair which was currently with tons of books stacked within. She pulled him into the small room and shut the door.
"Have a seat.. somewhere." she said as she let go of his hand and went to the small fridge and grabbed two bottles of water and handed him one. Sitting on the bed.
"So are you going to become a student here then? Or did you only come for me?" she asked as she took a sip of her water.

He grinned as she lead him to her room. There were books everywhere, that figured, her dossier had said she was given enhanced intelligence and the ability to absorb knowledge much more quickly than the average human. He sat down on the edge of the bed, sipping at the water.
"I came here for you, I was supposed to be sent by the Corporation to retrieve you. But Father...he didn't want me to go so soon, he said the time wasn't right, but I couldn't wait. He told me that patience was virtue and I should bide my time. I've been biding my time...it was too long to wait. So I disembowled Father and escaped to find you," he said with a dark chuckle, remembering the look on Calhoun's face as he fell to the ground and used the last moments of his life to try and push his intestines back into his body.
"I suppose I'll enroll here as well. Since I have no Corporation to take you back to. I was supposed to retrieve you and bring you back so Father's dream of a race of our kind could be fulfilled. Unfortunately for Father, he tried to stand between me and fulfilling my goal, and now he's dead," he said with a grin as he took another sip of water, "I'm still surprised you escaped from the compound without killing any of them...not even out of revenge...you're mercy surprised me. Humans deserve no such quarter," he said, spitting the word human like he was disgusted with the thought of giving mercy to a human.

She was shocked to say the least about how easily the man could talk about killing. The way he seemed to actually think that killing humans would impress her. That this was what she looked for in a mate. Which was wrong in a way yet there was something.. about him that made her at least want to get to know him.
She looked up into his eyes with her red ones that matched his own and took a sip of her water. She let her eyes run over him taking him in and thinking about what she wanted to say. She didn't know really what you said to something like that.
"I suppose that is why they made us so different. To balance each other out then. They always complained I was too kind too merciful. An angel to the highest degree. So for you they must have changed that and you are my complete opposite." she said softly as she capped her water and sat it on a bedside table.
"May I see your wings?" she asked. "May I touch them?"

He chuckled softly as he watched her puzzled expression. She was probably questioning why he seemed to be so proud of those he killed or talk about it with such relish. He watched her carefully, it was true they were almost complete opposites. He was the darkness and she was the light, together they balanced one another out and created perfect harmony.
"I am almost in all ways your opposite, even in my magical abilities. I think with out knowing it, they created us to be equal opposites...balancing each other out to create harmony. 01, you are the good and light, I am the evil and the darkness. These are inescapable destinies, we will always be entwined no matter how much we try to fight it," he said with a sigh as he finished his water, a tendril of shadow snaked out of the loor and gripped the bottle, throwing it into the trashcan.
"As for my wings, you may indeed see and touch them," he said with a soft grin as his eyes turned to their pupiless black. His black wings sprouted noiselessly, "You see, even the color of our wings is opposite," he said as he watched her with his seemingly cold, black pupiless eyes.

She listened to him and looked up at him. She really wasn't sure what to do. Here he was either to mate with her or kill her neither that she actually want to do. She watched him carefully because truth was she had no idea what he might try. She did watch as he used his magic to throw away his trash.
His wings came out of his back and her eyes went wide as they turned back to blue. She liked them when they were blue and only turned them red for Angra. She reached out tentatively and touched his wings running her hand and her fingers through his feathers. They were beautiful the exact opposite of her in every way. Magic, wings, eyes, .. everything. It was amazing.
"They're beautiful." she said softly as she moved closer to him and ran her hands through his feathers more. "Obsidian feathers.. so lovely.. like pure midnight."

He smiled softly as she touched his wings, it always sent a shiver through him. He could only assume that her own wings were as sensitive as his. Hadrian's smile was oddly unnerving not because it was wicked or showed any hint of darkness but because of the fact that it showed no actual emotion at all. It was a dead smile, but he smiled anyway as if oblivious to the fact that he was unable to convey any emotion through it whatsoever.
"I do like them, I'm not sure that the Nephilim scientists even meant for my wings to be black. They turned out that way by accident it would seem, which serves to cement my belief that it is by fate that we are entwined as opposites," he said, watching her carefully through those cold, dead, pupil-less eyes.

Her hands ran through his soft silken feathers. They felt exactly like hers only they were the most beautiful black color. She looked up at him and an emotionless smile was on his face as she smiled up at him in return her own smile filled with her emotions.
She felt a feather come off in her hand and she took it gently running it over her fingers gently. She let her eyes run back to red as she thrust back her shoulders and her own white wings of pure beauty came out.
"How did you grow so fast? I was the only one. I yearned for another .. yet there never was one that was made right." she said softly as she reached up gently and her soft and perfect skin touched his face gently.

He watched as her own wings sprouted from her back. They were the same as his, but their beauty did not lie in the sameness but the fact that they were the opposite of his. Hadrian found something strangely comforting in the fact that they were polar opposites, it gave them a sort of perfect harmony...balancing each other out. He ran his own hand along her wings, softly plucking one of her feathers out to examine.
"As white and pure as new fallen snow..." he said softly as he examined the feather, running it through his fingers. Then she asked him how he grew so fast, he didn't much remember exactly but he would try his best to explain anyway.
"I believe I was given some sort of growth enhancing agent. I grew the equivalent of fifteen years in about four or five," he explained, his memory was a little fuzzy. Most of those days had been filled with monotonous tests or torture sessions, the only light in those days had been the survival test sessions. Just the memory of them brought a dark, twisted smirk to his features.
